It does seem suspicious though." He agrees with the setite, "Connections maybe at play. Either he knew too much, or has ties the warlocks can use?" Feeling stumped himself, Ranerius believes it only mannerly to brainstorm with the setite.<P>
He listens to Onfroi talk of Danov and nods. Then Onfroi mentions Santos and seems to know more than he, but...
Onfroi pauses watching Geoffroi to see if he will speak, he does not and Onfroi speaks once more, "An interesting angle these Ghouls, wouldn't the Lasombra be the ones to track them down? Narses was particular about his ghouls being tampered with. An interesting point though, prior to my own Embrace I was Ghouled to the Toreador Clan in the Courts of Paris for a century. It was nerve wracking once my natural life had... expired I suppose is the term. I knew that if I did not have Cainite blood, I would quickly pass on. At least that is what I was always told".

He hears Onfroi talk of hunting, and ponders. He is reluctant to return to his inn in these situations. "We may yet have to resort to animals..." He tries not to shudder at the notion of rats, and rather contemplates a fine horse? "Though most of us would set a stable to a panic."
An amused look crosses his face, "I suppose if we hear a doomsayer announcing we're all doomed, we could finish him and make an honest man of him?" Wryly

Donato frowns and looks down to the floor for a moment, contemplating the words of the Prince.
"My prince, while I can appreciate your confidence in the safety of Padua...would Venice not have felt as equally confident in its own security? May I suggest sending an envoy...an investigative expedition to not only discover what really happened, but to also appraise the current state of affairs...if things are truly in flux there, waiting for the dust to settle on its own, may very well become a missed opportunity for Padua..."

Turning to Onfroi "It may do us well to take a look at Santos' haven to see what information we may be able to gleam from it if nothing else. If the need arises I could call to him to come but it will not be as quick as we may need. There seems to be many roots to this and it is pulling the right one or ones that matters.
Then a thought comes to his mind "Is there anyone we have interacted with that I have met also that we think would be helpful to speak with? Perhaps I can call them to come to us.

Gustav steps forward, "While I do not know you by name, I would be willing to accompany you. That is preferable to sitting here doing nothing".
"Do as you will, but if your machinations draw these Hunters to my city, I do not suggest returning to my Court", the Prince replies.
At that moment, the music of the room becomes louder once more and the dancers pace picks up once again. The Prince appears to all but forget the existence of both of you entirely.
Gustav holds his face serene and nods to you, "Shall we exit and speak of this coalition further?"

Onfroi n Ranerius were called just las' nite. I remained here on account of mah' leg makin' me a liability fer speed. Ah' was hopin' they'd return here so ah' watch'd tha' buildin' n instead o' the rest of tha' coterie, yerself showed up.
Elysium o' Narses was attacked so tha's no safe haven. Where Narses is, ah've no idea. But the Elders don' seem all too willin' ta' risk their necks at tha' moment.
Besides them n yerself, ah'm no sure who else even survived these attacks by tha' Hunters.
I c'n assure you, these Hunters c'n fight, when I was a Mortal I foght alongside em meself battling the dead animated by foul Giovanni magic.

"So then you have two avenues to pursue for Narses Ghouls and Lorenzo one through his Ghoul. Do we chase all three or just one at a time? Or does Lorenzo's Ghoul serve a better purpose investigating the former Giovanni stronghold?"
Lydia chimes in, "Rats, they're not so bad.
If we hunt Mortals we will need to be careful, these Hunters may be out on patrol looking for us. Though if their numbers are small enough in so doing, they will be no match for us, by Night".
Onfroi turns to Michele, "Perhaps Santos' Haven would be good for us to utilize. It is nowhere near the location of the Inns the Hunters attacked".
Lydia grins wickedly, "Do you know any of the Hunters personally Querini?"

Then a thought comes to his mind "Is there anyone we have interacted with that I have met also that we think would be helpful to speak with? Perhaps I can call them to come to us."
"Not that I recall immediately, Michele." He ponders this. [ooc]But it's been so long the player may have just forgotten. "Still, an amazing ability." He ponders, "Do you perchance know Jordan Thesing? Or her betrothed? Christopher Dandolo, Scion of the Dandolo family?" He is not entirely sure why he asks, but Michelle's family might either be allies or enemies to them and either way one might be pulled. He suspects enemies but... ah well. He grasps at straws.

"Yes Gustav, I believe we should make our way outside and discuss the details of this expedition."
Donato turns and motions for Eliastor to follow. He makes his way through the crowd towards the exit and steps into the night.
"It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person Gustav, I am Donato Elba of Clan Tremere. I assume you are well aware we travel to the viper's nest... what have you heard about Venice, other than the rumors that are abound?"

Gustav nods to Eliastor but remains quiet as you exit the Tavern, he motions for you to follow him. He keeps walking directly out of the city and into the nearby sparse woodlands!
You can feel Eliastor's anxiety grow as the three of you continue to walk. Gustav then suddenly stops and turns to you in an area where the moon is full above you all and there are no shadows.
"That's better", he states, his Italian is good but not flawless with an accent of the Germanic peoples underlying his cadence.
"I am Gustav Breidenstein, Childe of the Prince of Berlin Ilse Reinegger, Childe of Erik Eigermann, Childe of Ventrue, Childe of Ynosh, Childe of Caine.
I do not generally find it a pleasure to meet a Usurper, but in your case, I make an exception as you are the Childe of one who is rogue from your dangerous Clan".
Eliastor grunts dangerously at the offense and Gustav turns to him, "Ware servant".
The lock eyes and pause for a moment, Eliastor grimaces but stays silent as the order to attack has not ben given.
Gustav continues, "My Sire sent me to Venice to look after her own interests. As our cousins deem the formation of this organization beneficial to their interests, and as we control territory within the greater Holy Roman Empire that they are connected to, this was prudent.
Of course conspiracies still abounded during the formation of the Sect, but at least it appeared a good first step to ensuring some measure of cohesion to attempt to bring the War of the Elders to a conclusion.
Hardestadt himself did not attend, instead he sent Lanzo von Saschen one of his Grandchilder to represent him. As Hardestadt is a fervent supporter if not the driving force behind this Sect. He was able to secure the position of Inner Circle, denoting leadership of our Clan in these matters. Mithras was selected as the Justicar, the name of the enforcer of the Ventrue for the Sect. Mithras also was not personally in attendance.
Lanzo left behind his Chidle, Embraced in the spirit of cooperation, one Franz Albert Capsali, a Mortal with royal lineage in his veins. I offered to remain within Venice as an advisor to him, but he declined my offer. I remained within Padua to conduct research with the intention to be close by to the Fledgling in case he required some assistance.
This was only days ago!
Ironic that he asked me to warn him if trouble come from the north and through Padua. The reverse has happened.
I have not heard from Franz. I would not have expected to hear from Prince Alexander of my Clan, a Methuselah who attended in person, but all the same he has not come to Padua. I have also not heard from Alyssa Gilbert or her Childe Alessandro Khadaji, the representative of Mithras though I suppose they would have fled by ship if able.
I am vexed by my lack of information other than the antecdotal testimony I have heard from those who have survived to flee.
My goal is to assess what has taken place and report to my Sire as well as the Fief of the Black Cross.
Narses is an ancient Lasombra and the Prince of the city. He had restricted feeding in the city due to the presence of Hunters, there was a Cainite who was recklessly feeding and leaving evidence, but once his identity was uncovered he was subject to a Blood Hunt and presumably left the city as no more such feedings took place.
Thereafter, Narses informed the Conclave that the main threat of the Hunters had been... neutralized, but warned that independent Hunters still remained and that although their identities were known, they were to be avoided at all cost.
Now, you tell me Donato Elba, what have you to gain by entering this viper's den as you have so aptly described the City? I would know what to expect from you if we travel there in concert. Though allies we may not be, it is better to have at least one whose interest align with your own when entering what may well be a trap".

One who was invisible and came visible, Sadir or Caias, I am not clear on his name, claimed she was the reincarnated soul of an evil being known as Ma-ri. Perhaps you forgot, but you were there. In fact, were it not for you more may have met the Final Death.
Both are now gone from the city so at least we need not trouble ourselves with them.
I know of Talisman's haven. He had two ghouls, perhaps we can use them and that location as another sanctuary?".

Why don't we head to your house first Doctor so that your Ghoul can decide whether he prefers to do his work by Day or by Night. Then secure the haven of Talisman, if it is secluded enough, we can feed in that area and hide the bodies within. We all hunger and we have not the time for subtleties of the gentle caress of several Mortals each.

Andrew leans in to you and whispers, "We've picked up a tail, I dinnae know tha' origin but they're no too far behind us".

Andrew nods, and at the next intersection he takes a sharp right, well , as sharp as his bad leg allows him to anyway. He walks a bit of a distance farther and pauses, placing his back to the building you begin to scale and pulling out his increasingly infamous pipe.
Alessandro ducks into the space behind Andrew, as soon as he's on the other side of Andrew.
He climbs with preternatural speed and grace, finding a suitable perch and cover if there is any available.

You find a stable perch on a window ledge on the second floor, though the moon is full you are likely not going to be spotted by Mortal eyes, and even if you are, unless they have ranged weapons, they can do little about you.
The two figures turn the corner and see Andrew calmly leaning against the building. They scan the street (you presume searching for you), then their eyes come to rest back upon him. They whisper to one another as he turns in their direction.
They simply fade backward, saying nothing further and making no threatening actions.

The Streets of Venice to Doctor Cappelli's Residence -
Doctor Cappelli takes his time to Don the Mask of Shadows so covering Lydia as well. Michele Querini uses Obfuscation to change his appearance to that of a frenchmen. Onfroi cloaks the gathering, including himself, Michele, Ranerius and Geoffroi.
Suitably invisible to most observers, the group bears the less than savory experience of moving along the canals of Venice. Onfroi suggests that the group trudge along the bottom for a time to exit under a bridge rather than near Elysium, as the Hunters may well still have scouts nearby. "Either way, we'll be soaked".
The logic appears sound and so you all do so. You take your time, ensuring that no footfalls are near with Ranerius' acute hearing enhanced via Auspex. When you emerge, there is not a soul in sight though the pooling water beneath your feet might be a dead giveaway if there were.
The coterie with no name moves swiftly crossing several canals via bridge to reach the good Doctor's residence. With the moon overhead and little cloudcover it is a beautiful night as the days gradually get warmer for Springs approach. There are Mortals out, at the cafe's, carousing, not as many as there were four nights ago, but enough that the city has a feel of "normalcy" once more. This of course, bodes well for your eventual need to feed...
Lorenzo unlocks the door and enters, seated in a comfy chair in the living room reading a book on anatomy by candlelight is Moses, he drops the book, swiftly stands and draws steel, "Show yourselves! This residence belongs to Lord Lorenzo Cappelli, woe to you if you enter unwelcome!"

"Two matters, certainly of importance." Lorenzo concedes. "The first matter is fairly straightforward to remedy. Dominic knows my handwriting well. I will draw up a simple document - in my hand - showing that you are to be the caretaker of my home while away."
"The second matter, is a bit trickier, as I find myself in dire need of feeding - which I intend to do this night, but can spare a minimal amount for you until I manage to feed again. After that, you shall have a larger amount of vitae at your disposal, my friend." the former doctor says going to the cabinet and taking down a glass, biting his own wrist to fill the glass, and licking the wound closed. With the deed done, Lorenzo hand the full glass to Moses.
"As to my request...well requests I suppose, first, in your previous service to Brexiano, did you encounter or have knowledge of any of Narses's ghouls? Is so, who are they and where might they be found?"
Lorenzo pauses to wait for a response from Moses.
"Second - this will require a bit of stealth and observation during daylight hours - I need to know the status of the Mausoleum. The hunters raided the Mausoleum a few nights passed. Lydia and I were captured, thus my absence the past few nights. I need to know if it is plausible to get back inside so that I can make use of the spirits trapped within."
