Loompecker and Konbu hurl energy at the crocs. Red doesn't get out of the way in time and gets hit with a snowball to the nose. Red evades Loompecker's jolt but Blue doesn't. Meanwhile Ashun sends some much needed healing to Cath and gives Bitty some much needed aid.

The changeling draws a curative glyph that when it pulses, magical threads appear on Bitty's wounds, staunching the bleeding and giving her more time to recover. Then he gives a single clap, echoing the bell sound around him.

Having seen that roll maneuver before, he jumps forward when the crocodile starts. He waits for the perfect timing and jams his sword into the slash that Cath started, then braces the sword against the ground as the croc uses its own power to impale itself on the blade.

Once the scaled beast stops rolling, Bee pulls his sword back and into his standard defensive position. "Ha. Let's see how you handle that."

After the croc stops moving, Ashun goes to Cath to check for deeper wounds while Bea walks to Bitty and tries to wake her up by licking her face.
Pulling some gauze and bandages from his belt, he tells Cath, "How are you feeling?", and starts treating her wounds.

Konbu how long do you plan to keep the hat on for?

Terrain features: The water in the middle of the channel is about 2 feet deep and difficult terrain. It goes all the way up to the walkways. It probably also goes without saying that the water is pretty disgusting. :)

Also I've labeled the areas on the map with symbols. I guess it's the lazy way of asking where you wish to go. The exploration parts of adventures is something I've never been able to run correctly -- which is why I agreed to run 01-07 -- to learn how to do it in a friendly environment :). Any comments/suggestions on how to improve are more than welcome :)

Forgot to mention -- you can easily fit through the hole in the wall. The crocs couldn't... the non-combat approach would have been to convince the crocs not to eat you then use the sledgehammer :)

You exit the room into the sewer proper. The strong scent of saltwater hints at the daily flooding that washes through these sewers from the nearby sea, as do the occasional stranded fish or crustacean. The walkways alongside the sewer are slick and damp, although relatively clear of the normal waste found in a sewer.

The water in the sewer channels (dark green on the map) is 2 feet deep and difficult terrain, running almost to the lip of the walkways (pale green).

I guess I should roll back what I said. It's not disgusting, though I probably wouldn't swim in it. I should have read the description again... :)

We're not on a time crunch so you have time to carefully plan how you'll walk across. Since it's not regular sewage, you can wade across without danger of getting anything nasty

Tall stone cylinders stand in a line in the center of this chamber. Broken pipes protrude from the ceiling above the cylinders, rusted and covered in green algae. Every few moments, one of the cylinders makes a feeble grinding sound and a dribble of water flows down from the top of the cylinder and drips to the floor.

DC 15 Crafting/Thievery:
You realize that this room is a sump room. Apparently, this section of Absalom has always been low enough to have problems with water infiltration, so the residents long ago had these magically powered sump pumps installed. When the system functioned, it drew water from below the foundation and pushed through the pipes into the sewers and channeled away. The earthquake destroyed the connection to the pipes, and the increased water volume soon overwhelmed the system, rendering it permanently inoperable.

You notice an exit at the other side of the room.

When Bea sees the other dino "jumping" into the waters, he purposefuly does the same, covering himself in sand and muck. Wading through the waste until reaching the other side.

Ashun sighs and facepalms, slowly pinching the bridge of his nose. He draws a small glyph that helps Bitty clean and dry Egg, before doing the same to Bea.
"I swear I need a leash for these situations..."

And when getting into the room, the changeling starts noticing all the valves and pipes and immediately starts studying it.
"Fascinating."

The same problem Bea has with mud, Ashun apparently has with over-analyzing stuff. As he spends quite some time watching the broken pumps and cylinders trying to work and being forced to move as the dirty saltwater flushes through them.
"Watching the tunnel and room markings, the water tends to get higher on tides, which probably means these pumps were used to clean and avoid infiltrations. And it not working would explain why the upper levels are so damp."
He points to one specific part of the engine, "This one was the main cylinder, and although covered in debris and algae, you can clearly see this was mostly used to draw water from the understructure of the above area."
Taking a few steps, while still maintaining focus on the object.
"Probably some kind of magic is still trying to force these to work, but even if a bit rusted up, it appears most of the pipes have been broken by force."

Ashun ponders a bit before looking towards the party again by ducking his head under some wet moss hanging from a broken piston.
"I have not spent much time here in Absalom, so I do not know much about it. Is the city prone to flash flooding or earthquakes?"

Holding her torch up, Cath follows both Bea and Bami through the shorter route to the other side of the sewer walkway. "Looks like the water isn't too bad here. Air seems to smell a bit more like the sea though, so I'm guessing that's what those things are for, if Ashun's right." Making her way past these, pump things, as they were pointed out to be, she looks towards the door exiting the room, keeping an eye out for any danger. "You can look at those, but I'm not sure if those are what we are looking for. Maybe we can get someone down here later to fix them. As for earthquakes, I'm not sure, but it definitely smells like the bad side of a port down here."

"That's a very useful ability," Bee remarks while watching Ashun dry off those who got wet.

"So no way to get it working again? Too bad. Would be nice to have it keep the place dry for us." Bee spends a bit of time looking around at the magic powered machinery, his Gnome instincts wanting to tinker around with it to get it working - or at least doing something amusing, if not useful.

"Well, there is a reason this section of the city is called 'The Puddles'. The rest of Absalom is generally fine, but this part is below the tide line. At least - it is now. Not sure if it was when the city was first built."

Led by Bee, you proceed to the next room. The sides of this chamber are rough and uneven, dropping sharply to a large pool of water that fills the entire room. To the north and south, the masonry of the sewer walls has crumbled away.

As you enter the room, you also realize you're not alone. The mercenaries who initially faced off against you in the theater are there, trying to figure out how to get at something in the middle of the pool. Upon hearing your entry, they whirl and confront you, though they have not drawn weapons yet.

"Well lookee here, the goblin king's best actors. Why dontcha clear out since we got here first! You really don't wanna tangle with us!"

You can try to talk them down, or bribe them, or intimidate them if you want to avoid a fight... Or there's the other way... :)
