Seeing the party punching bag, seriously everything seemed to hate Xivio in this town, Mahakala casts stabilize on Xivio. The druid motions for Taayar to take a nibble out of the backing stabbing relative of the mayor. Taayar happily charges foward with a mockery of a grin filled with razor sharp teeth.
Charging Dinosaur: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Chomping teeth: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 2 = 12
Nilah frowns at the crowd building up around their foe.
No room to move. Must strike from the outside...
She draws her scimitar and tries her hand at slipping an acid splash past her teammates at the foe.
[move] draw weapon
[standard] cast acid splash
Ranged touch, acid damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d3 ⇒ 1
In the crowded corridor, Nyshka can neither get into melee range nor close enough to Xivio to give him any HP. "See if you can work your way around the villain, these tunnels are too narrow!"
Nyshka draws and throws her Chackram into the melee.
Chackram into melee: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 = 12 Slashing Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Nyshka's throw misses.
The odd looking brother tries to withdraw into the folliage.
Since he can't five foot step, that draws attacks of opportunity from Bahram and the fierce little dino.
I'm going to bot these AoOs to try to get this done soon, everyone.
Bahram AoO, bless: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 1 = 16
Bahram barely misses.
Taayar bite: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26
The dino's chomping teeth take down the 'brother.' Before your eyes, he completes his transformation into a faceless stalker.
now pausing for any rescue for Xivio. Then, please do any buffing you would before entering the center of the maze and place your tokens into the box. Please list both new buffs and any that should still be active from when you entered the maze.
I'm going to interpret that as Zubb Zubb moving this turn, and casting bless next turn.
I only 5' stepped, the Bless would still have gone off. That will allow me to cast Cure Moderate Wounds on Xivio, not that the timing matters anymore.
CMW: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
Buffs: False Life, Bless
NEW: Produce Flame
Nyshka has no buffs, but will use her wand or Xivio's to heal him up.
-13 + 11 = -2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 -> 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 -> 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 -> 13
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 -> 18
"Hopefully the next fight starts from the front!"
Taayar will continue to chew on the brother while the party heals up Xivio. As they reach the center of the maze Mahakala will cast a spell to make Taayar's over abundance of saliva turn high acidic to the point it steams when it hits the ground.
Casting Acid Maw (3 min duration) on Taayar
Barkskin (Extended to 1hr) on Taayar
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
Bahram looks long and hard at the faceless stalkers body. "What is that? And where is the brother? Did he ever truly exist? He then looks to the recovered Xivio. "That was close, Xiv. Let's not do that again."
Bahram will cast mirror image on himself.
images: 1d4 ⇒ 2
As two more of him appear, he is ready.
Mirror image (2)
You find your way to the center of the maze. There, you find about 20 cultists preparing for a sacrifice, as well as lighting two bonfires.
The mayor stands in the center, clearly giving the orders. He turns to you with a nasty grin on his face, glad the sacrifice has presented itself.
The cultists all fall on their knees in prayer, too caught up in religious feelings to do anything else. The mayor prepares to fight.
Bahram: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Nilah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Nyshka: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Zubb Zubb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Mahakala: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Taayar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Xivio: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
mayor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Bold may post:
Nyshka returns the nasty grin. "Your wickedness is clear. You have nowhere to run. Your surrender is optional."
She chooses him as the target of her smite evil and charges.
Nodachi +1, power attack, smite, charge, bless: 1d20 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 17
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 3 + 1 = 16 3 more if evil outsider or undead
Mahakala will point to the mayor, and Taayar will happily stomp towards him eager for some more meat. The druid himself will hang back behind Taayar for now readying to cast stabilize should a member of the party drop.
Nom Nom: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Teeth: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5
Acid Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
So... I'm guessing something like this befell the tax collector.
Nilah looks down in focus for a moment, reciting some draconic incantation and when she looks up her scimitar seems to double. Another one splits off and floats nearby her as she moves, lunging at and threatening any nearby foes.
[standard] Cast warding weapon (she can now cast without needing concentration checks)
[move] 20 ft
Warding weapon: round 1/4
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
All three Bahrams will mine up 20' next to the mayor, or whatever is wearing the mayor's mask.
A little close to the fires for my taste. He has to have some kind of trap set up. This can't be it.
+1 great ax: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 20
dmg: 1d12 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
heading in heroism, bless, and archaeologists luck
Then he brings his axe swooping around in an ark, through the fire, and down toward the 'mayor'.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
Taking a five foot step to flank with Nyshka, Bahram takes another hearty swing.
+1 great axe: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 18
dmg: 1d12 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
"Your sick occupation of these people ends here!"
Gah! I wish we had a bard in this group. That was a good tagline. It should be written down somewhere.
As the mayor starts to fall from Bahram's swing, he begins to scream. gross details suppressed here
A giant mosquito like creature emerges from the mayor's body. see picture on side of map
The excess damage on the mayor I'm counting as on the creature. Due to some stuff behind the scenes, Nyshka's smite is still valid on the creature.
Everyone but Bahram is up.
current status: blitespawn -4 HP
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
Zubb Zubb flings a bolt of fire at the bug Previously Cast Produce Flame 3/4.
Ranged Touch with Bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
fire damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Is it still flat-footed? If not, I bet that misses :(
"Super-gross! And super-evil!"
With her new flanking partner, Nyshka winds up for another swing at this newly emerged foe.
Flanking blessed smiting power attacking nodachi!: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 + 3 = 19
She'll then give the creature a glare straight out of the Abyss - but powered up with righteousness! swift action demoralize
Intimidate (demoralize): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 DC 10 + HD + Wis, shaken for 1+ rounds on success
Taayar is grumpy she missed the mayor but perhaps this wet bug like thing will be easier to hit. Mahakala on the other hand will unleash his stabilize spell on the mayor on the off chance he isn't fully dead.
Nom Nom: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Teeth: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 = 11
Acid Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Well... I suppose this fits right in with dark, midnight rituals. Anything is expected at this point.
With the aid of her warding weapon, she imbues her scimitar with a spell and thrusts it forward at the mosquito.
[swift] Enter mystical focus Nilah's eyes turn opaque bright glowing yellow...
[full round] Spell combat
She seems to imbue her blade with an intense bolt of fire...
Spell strike: Cast scorching ray (allowed by Close Range magus arcana, no concentration check needed due to warding weapon, free attack to deliver)
+1 scimitar attack, P damage, scorching ray F damage (spell resistance): 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 2 = 101d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 114d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 4) = 15
After likely missing with the first thrust, she growls and stabs again at the creature.
+1 scimitar attack, P damage: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 = 151d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
oof, the attack rolls...
Warding weapon: round 2/4
Mystical focus: round 1/2
Zubb Zubb's fire does injure the blightspawn who is flatfooted.
Nyshka's swipe does also.
The poor hungry dino is not able to chomp on the bug.
Nilah's second scimitar swing smacks into the bug. Her spell charge, held from the first swing that missed, goes off.
Xivio, seeing that the bug is wobbling from damage, tries to finish it off with another magic missile wand charge, and succeeds.
The cultists rush away, horrified.
The new day dawns, and the town stays silent. No shops are open, and no people are walking around the town. A chorus of cawing ravens rings out over the village as hundreds of the birds descend on the feast’s remnants. The birds gorge themselves on the spoiling food, and not a single soul stirs within the village. Shops remain closed and rapped doors go unanswered. The one exception is your friend Viorec, who explains that the people of Ravenmoor can feel a difference in the air—their lives have changed forever. Many of the villagers find it difficult to believe that their beloved mayor—that the Dream Tender—had
anything but the town’s best interests at heart, so it will take a bit of time for them to process what happened.
You carefully search the mayor's manor, and find a chest that clearly contains the taxes that had been collected. When you return to Magnimar, the party is greeted with cheers upon their arrival. The
city of Magnimar not only agrees to pay you the reward promised by Jeminda Anikee, but also lets you keep the taxes you recovered. As word of Ravenmoor spreads, and as the nature of the cult and its lies become more well-known, the church of Desna becomes more involved as well. A number of Desnan missionaries travel to the small village to help the citizens of Ravenmoor regain their footing. The village's future looks brighter.
