Speaker-10 is once again bubbled.
Mordack moves closer while Telirix questions the android.
Speaker-10 responds, "You are false saviors. My predecessor was a fool not to realize that. I shall return these mechs to Ayleth and educate the people of Genrovis about how they need her protection."
They then try to unbubble themself again.

"Effing traitor." Telirix looks down at Speaker-10.
Mercy hasn't worked out well on this planet. Things would have been easier if they'd just killed the sheriff. They could turn Speaker-10 over to her own people. Did the new iteration of the android have enough prestige and sway to convince the townspeople to return to Ayleth's rule? From this inept, undermanned attempt to 'jack the mechs, Tel concludes she doesn't, at least not yet. Could the townspeople hold her? Spell casters
"Would a hard reboot be the same as killing her? And what's her intel value? Had she had any contact with the dragons? That's worth knowing.
Telirix shrugs. "I better go get Shadow Knight."
I think my lashunta is taking the coward's way out of this dilemma. It's up to Yargnod.

Mordack isn't going to kill someone who is surrendering.
But before we take the Android prisoner he will make sure someone didn't plant a secret tracker on the Android for when we send him/her to jail. perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

![]() |

I read Yargnod's post as sending Speaker-10 to the morgue. I guess it could be part of the jail.

cmlobue |

I also read Yargnod's post as killing Speaker-10. They were not surrendering, they were unconscious - and would not have surrendered if you offered. Whether they are in jail or the ground, the story proceeds the same way; they would not have cooperated with you in any way. Mordack finds no trackers or other items planed on the team.
Speaker-10 was in possession of freebooter armor IV, an ultracold hail pistol with 2 batteries (20 charges each), a zero-edge switchblade, a pearly white spindle aeon stone, and a tier 3 datapad.
Speaker-10’s datapad also contains information on the fortress’s construction, indicating a secret hatch in the fortress’s base that leads inside. The door is intended as an emergency escape route but could be used as an entry point, bypassing some of Ayleth’s defenses.
Speaker-10’s research also notes the presence of Ayleth’s hoard in the spire’s first level. The resistance will encourage them to search for the hoard, as it might hold useful items for a final battle against Ayleth.
The team returns to Mersall with the body of Speaker-10 and explains what happened. Zefne and the rest of the resistance are shocked and saddened. For the first time in its recorded history, Mersall has no designated lorekeeper.
The heroes can regroup and repair their mechs, but their local allies encourage them to confront Ayleth as soon as they safely can. Once Ayleth revitalizes her forces, she’ll mount an even more devastating assault against the resistance, so striking first is vital. With their new mechs, only the player characters can challenge her directly. Zefne suspects Ayleth is likely to hunker down in Skyborne Spire, north of Vindrinar in the Sestarral Mountains, until she’s ready to attack again.
To face Ayleth, the heroes must travel to Skyborne Spire and fight their way to the dragon’s perch on her cloud throne. Mersall doesn’t have any vehicles capable of transporting mechs. Even if they did, such a large vehicle would easily be spotted; the player characters’ mechs need to travel on foot or fly low to the ground.
What preparation do you want to do before heading out? It is a four day journey to Skyborne Spire. You can expect this to be the last chance to spend your money, and I will assume anything you don't use for purchases will be converted to UPBs for future repairs.

Tel will want new ammo for his pistol and a second 40 charge battery for his rifle. And 4 days of food and water.
.
Does anybody have a plan that requires new gear, or even doesn't? I really can't think of anything better than slugging it out.

![]() |

With Computers +25, cannot fail that check
There's a lot of good info here. Speaker-10 had contact with Ayleth and her servitors. She express concerns related to the resistance. Her datapad contains information on the fortress’s construction, including a secret hatch at the base that leads inside. It's meant to be an escape hatch, but could benefit us otherwise. Finally, her research notes the presence of Ayleth’s hoard in the spire’s first level. The resistance will encourage them to search for the hoard, as it might hold useful items for a final battle against Ayleth.

![]() |

We could trash the hoard as well. That would stir her up. Maybe we should see about getting some demolition charges.

Yargnod Kir'eed |

"Hoard?" Yargnod's ears perk up at the word. He looks at Telirix aghast. "You...you want to blow up treasure?" he practically chokes.
"The mech's are good and I think Palisade Knight's ability to shut down spell casters is going to be good when we go up against Ayleth, but I sure don't mind stacking the deck in our favor with stuff from her own hoard. There's nothing better than smacking someone with their own stuff."
Yargnod will also get another battery for Justifier and, because he's paranoid, 10 days of food and water.

"If we think it would throw her off her stride and give us a better chance of surviving, I'd slag it all in a sprite's heartbeat."
Telirix' antenna curl in on themselves, then unfurl. "What if we text her from the data pad, and tell her the mission worked, but Speaker-10 died. Do you think that could get us inside? Or will it get us sent to an ambush?"

![]() |

That's a good idea. We need to be really careful with tone. Perhaps peruse their communication history to get the feel for how they interact.

cmlobue |

Communication between Speaker-10 and Ayleth was fairly limited. The android shared what they knew about your group and the mechs, and she notified them that she would send minions to take over the mechs. It seems that Speaker-10 was trying to get into the dragon's good graces rather than actively serving her.

![]() |

We could give her a delivery location that allows us advantage in an ambush as well!
Um... do we know of such spots around?

cmlobue |

The datapad is clear about the mechs being brought back to Skyborne Spire. You may be able to succeed at subterfuge when approaching, but getting her to come out for them will not work.
