He's a little jumpy, though. His homeworld is a barren wasteland and being around all this...nature is unsettling.

Yargnod has trouble with the ancient mechanism, but Sefel gets the door to open. The trapdoor leads to a set of stairs with a red metal door
at the bottom. All ceilings inside are 50 feet high.
The stairs lead to a door shaped like a dragon’s head, forcing anyone entering to climb through its mouth. Oppressive heat wafts from the dragon’s maw. Inside, seams of glowing red ore line the curved metal walls and etchings of dragon wings and claws swirl across the floor. A double door embossed with a rearing dragon over its visible gears leads further in.
Sefel Q Lamunesh |
DC20 Physical Science: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29
That red ore is hot siccatite! Sefel seems to point at it with his antennae.
Yargnod Kir'eed |
"I loosened it for you," Yargnod says, sullenly, as Sefel gets the door open.
"Now that's what I'm talking about! Do you know how much we can get for this much siccatite on the open market?!"
He literally rubs his hands together with glee.
But as his grandmother used to say If something looks too good to be true, it's probably bait for a trap.
To that end, he starts looking around for traps...after all there can't be anything dangerous about a giant open dragon's mouth.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Telirix Sporestorm |
Hot siccatite? What's that? Is it hot as in radioactive?
Telirix seals his armor environmentally. No point being uncomfortable when technology can take care of the heat. He hefts his rifle and steps forward into the antechamber.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
cmlobue |
The siccatite is not worth anything if you cannot get it out, and none of you is a miner or similarly skilled.
Other than the heat, Telirix and Yargnod find nothing unusual about the room.
Sefel Q Lamunesh |
I don't think it will harm us, but I don't think it's easy for any of us to extract. I suppose for now we should head into the dragon's mouth!
He takes a look for traps too before opening the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
If it seems safe he'll proceed.
cmlobue |
Sefel also agrees that it is omnious but safe.
Any thoughts from mordack? Or is it time to head in?
Mordack Dunstar |
I'm familiar with red siccatite, but usually it has to be applied to armor or weapons. Anyway, if you're worried about the heat, I'm a little resistant to fire if you want me to go first.
cmlobue |
The team enters the chamber, and as soon as they do, the doors behind them slam shut. The room's temperature begins rising rapidly, starting to cook the inhabitants. Mordack feels it more low and slow, but is definitely uncomfortable as well.

Brute force is obvious, but... finesse is best, put our engineering to the test!
Sefel attempts to manipulate the trap and just get the doors open.
Engineering: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31

Telirix swings his hail cannon into his hands and blasts the coil nearest Sefel.

Telirix blasts out one of the microwave emitters as Sefel works on turning them off. Before the room becomes unbearable, the trap is disabled. The doors still do not open.
Mordack Dunstar |
Doors still not opening, anyone have adamantine to cut a hole through it?
Yargnod Kir'eed |
"Nice work," Yargnod says begrudgingly to Sefel as he stops being cooked almost as quickly as he started being cooked.
"Let me take a look at the door." He reorients his custom rig and does just that.
Engineering: 1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 20 + 2 = 41
cmlobue |
Yargnod applies himself to the door, finding a way to force it open.
A tunnel has been melted into one wall of this room. Its rough, rounded metal sides appear to have been superheated and then cooled. Red ore is inlaid into the walls, forming draconic silhouettes. A large indentation in the metal floor is illuminated by light from cracks in the ceiling panels above. “Please stand by for decontamination,” a garbled voice announces. It’s followed by a weak hiss from the jets along the walls.

Despite his clever trick, Mordack does not manage to cut the creature.
Yargnod's attempt to redecorate is similarly ineffective.
Sefel preps himself for a big hit.
Telirix, however, has the creature squarely in his sights, and another blast of cold seems to seriously weaken the creature.
The operative is now positioned well for the beast to use its natural attacks.

Yargnod Kir'eed |
Now that Justifier is out and about, Yargnod takes a moment to calibrate it against the unibear. He's glad he added the unursine setting, now. Everyone laughed at him back home. Well who's laughing now?

Yargnod Kir'eed |
It should probably surprise no one that a bear that lives surrounded by hot siccarite isn't going to be too phased by weapons that depend on heat. Yet, Yargnod is as disappointed as anyone (except maybe Sefel) when the lashunta's perfectly aimed laser does nothing.
Still...Yargnod's gonna Yargnod...
Justifier (Doom Caller Desperation Cannon): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Electricity and Fire (Calibrated): 3d12 + 10 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) + 10 + 10 = 29

Mordack Dunstar |

Mordack tries to get free of the creature, but it is too strong.
Yargnod's blast completely misses both of them.

Telirix raises the rifle and waits for the beast to raise up while it struggles to grip Mordack. Its head lines up in his sights and he fires again.
cmlobue |
Telirix carefully lines up a shot against unibear. The blast of cold seems to finally get to the creature, and with a shiver, it drops Mordack and flees back into the gap in the wall it emerged from.

Mordack (-79 SP)
Yargnod (-23 SP)
Sefel (-32 SP)
Telirix Sporestorm |
Telirix ejects the exhausted high capacity battery from his rifle and slips a normal one into the socket. "Now we move forward. Let's try the door to the right, but first , are you injured Mordack?"
Burning through batteries. I need to show more restraint.
Mordack Dunstar |
I Am injured, but can we really rest here? Or rather should we, or should we hurry?
Sefel Q Lamunesh |
Sefel dismisses his corrosive haze and moves into the room.
I wonder if this place has AC
He casually looks about for a control panel that he might hack to get said A/C, but he's also aware that they should be careful and not set off any alarms.
I think we can spare ten minutes for a rest.
Yargnod Kir'eed |
Yargnod doesn't like the idea of really killing something that has tried to kill him, but he likes the idea of following an injured creature into its lair even less. Maybe there's another way to get to it from somewhere else.
He moves up and checks on the next set of doors, seeing if they're locked or otherwise seald.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Engineering: 1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 20 + 2 = 41
cmlobue |
You can definitely take a 10-minute rest.
As Yargnod approaches the door, he can see into the room unibear emerged from. A rough wall bubbles from this room’s northern half. The surrounding shelves are melted where the creature passed. Intact shelving units against the southern wall contain sealed metal crates.
The door to the north has no traps or locks that Yargnod can find.
Mordack Dunstar |
Mordack enjoys his rest. Didn't go into HP damage yet, but, jeez, I these guys are tough. Definitely tried to built an operative tank.
Sefel Q Lamunesh |
Sefel will also spend 10m / 1 RP
cmlobue |
Yargnod opens the door before him.
Several large worktables strewn with machine parts and tools are arrayed around this room. A double door leads in, while a large trapdoor stands between the tables at the center.
The trap door is locked (Computers, Engineering or Strength to bypass).
The tools look valuable, and Sefel recognizes a mechanic's custom rig among them.
