Telirix is bleeding, and may go down if you let that continue for another 3 minutes, but he knows enough first aid to stanch his wounds.

Yargnod eventually returns to the sight of the mech looking like it's been blasted a few times, but having only superficial damage. It'll probably buff out. Nothing remains of the creatures except piles of bones and three each of estex suit III, ominous scrapper-class crisis wrench, and fighter handcoil, plus six batteries.

The computer system in this room doesn’t contain the mech’s activation code, only analysis and monitoring programs. They do contain some data logs about the mech’s operations.

Computers DC 25:
The image of a city under attack as seen through a mech’s cockpit flickers onto the screen, its skyscrapers ablaze and its people running for cover. A dragon flies through the skies above, raining down destruction in her wake. Briefly, the reflection of a pilot with long black hair shows in the viewport.

“Stop!” an angry voice comes from behind the camera view, broadcasting to the city. “What are you doing?”

“They defied me!” the dragon roars back.

A pale hand tightens on the mech’s controls. “Desevris was right,” the voice murmurs. “She’s gone far enough.” The footage warps into static.

You also find some damaged research notes.

Ritual: Mech shadow weapon—difficult on that scale—use energies from the wellspring?
For the ring: silver, with gold sunburst inlays and a star-shaped diamond. Hope she likes it!

Ritual: Infuse shadows into self? Pros: Already partway there, might be neat. Con: Liatha might not like it.

Tel cocks an eyebrow and follows Sefel's lead. "So pleased we've met your standards." But he can't help smiling a little. He decides it would be best not to ride the kanabo about his abrupt exit -- now. Maybe on the ship home. If they can manage a ship home.

"Let's have another look at what you've found."

After reviewing the video Telirix's brow furrows. "Who are these people? Did we miss similar files in the other mech bases? And where are the activation codes for this mech? Let's have another go at the computer with everyone helping."

Maybe we're looking at a false shell. Best computers person take 20 and everyone aid? Tel auto-succeeds on an aid.

"I don't remember any other records like this. I certainly don't remember any indication that they were once allies who became enemies," Yargnod says.

"Maybe the wellspring is around here? We need to look around this facility some more. I wonder if the ring and the wine is around, too. Perhaps if we find those we'll find some more clues."

Growing up on Daimalko means that 100 year old things are just what Yargnod is looking for. So, he happily begins digging into the pile while keeping on guard against the vermin that hide in such piles.

The stairs a re a new area. It's not clear how you got in, so I've just been figuring there was something in the south not labeled on the map.

The sigil in the center also struck me as a possible transport means, perhaps an elevator or "phase warp" between rooms.

A mural covers the majority of this room’s eastern wall, showing a silver-colored dragon and four draconic-shaped mechs standing before a bustling city. Spiked letters are inscribed carefully underneath the painting. A shadowy portal writhes in the southern alcove, stretching its tendrils into the room. A set of stairs leads upward opposite a bank of dusty computers.

The inscription reads “Arrival on Genrovis, our new home!” with the signature “Desevris.”

Two worms the same size as you are crawling around the floor and look up as you enter. They're probably harmless, right?

With a sigh and muttering about the inability of some people to see possibilities, he follows the rest of the group out of the treasure vault/junk room and down the stairs.

Yargnod can read Draconic and reads the inscription out loud before spotting the worms and giving a yelp.

He claps his hands on the disk and Justifier pops back out of its home in a pocket dimension.

The kanabo blasts the blue worm with it.

Tel's eyes light up at the sight of the computers. They're a good sign; the portal, less so.

"Something wriggling this way comes."

The portal 'writhes' and has 'tendrils'? Is it organic somehow or slightly unstable and described with artistic license?

Just realized Tel is totally lacking in skills that help identify monsters, except engineering, and the worms problably aren't that. I'll try engineering on the portal.

Mordack uses this to run forward and slash into the reddish bug. Some of its bristles shoot out at him.
