Game Master Lysle

Start date: We have started (Among the Dead)

Slides & Maps

This is the recruitment thread for a standard run of Pathfinder Society Scenario: #0-7 Among the Living.

This scenario is designed for 1st to 7th level characters.

Seating: Seats at the table will be assigned on a first-post, first-seated basis.

Start Date: November 4, 2022 or whenever I have four players, whichever is later.

Game Expectations:
I ask for a posting rate of a minimum of once per day during the business week and at least once over the weekend, though I realize (and expect) that real life can get in the way of fun at times and that not all players will be able to meet that pace. I expect folks to occasionally be unavailable for a period of time. If I know that I will be unavailable for some reason for more than 24 hours (or 48 over a weekend), I will post such. I request and expect all players to do the same.

I reserve the right to bot players who do not post anything within a 24 hour period and will request each player have botting instructions in place before the end of the first briefing.

If this game sounds like something you'd be interested in, go ahead and post the requested chronicle information here. Sign-ups on RPG Chronicles will determined seating.

Once you have signed up, please provide the requested information below:

1) Character name:
2) PFS#-Character#:

5) Day Job (with roll):
6 Any other downtime activities:

Grand Lodge

got excited when i saw a new post in recruitment...bummer i already played it...

Grand Lodge

Amazingly, one I haven't played yet!

Character options:

level 7:
Lady Vanessa (dual-cursed Oracle, dhamphir socialite, would certainly go to an opera)
Zarnel (Paladin of Vildeis)

Level 6: Chhat Supereenta (vanara gunslinger/monk)

Level 4: Kai Makani (merfolk oracle/bard surfer-dude. Might enjoy an opera.)

Dot,

I've only got a lvl 1 and a lvl 2 though I'm not afraid of going a tad above my level.

Silver Crusade

If Nomadical brings Lady Vanessa, then I'll bring Spica, my seventh level undine wizard. I can just imagine Vanessa dragging Spica to the opera.

My other option, and currently the default is Dr Rigel Bright, a seventh level Sarenrae cleric/healer.

I wonder if we'll be playing it's sequel afterwards?

Grand Lodge

What's the sequel? If GM is wanting to run both parts, that might affect character selection.

Silver Crusade

Among the Dead I believe it's called. 1-49.

Grand Lodge

Doh. Of course. I just played that one, and didn't realize it was a sequel. Didn'seem like it was that tied into anything else.

Given that, I won't plan to stay for Among the Dead if offered, and will stick with my original character offerings for this one.

Dotting for interest.

My cleric of Desna, Grunjar, is one XP short of level 8, but he could take it slow if the sequel (also 1-7) will be played afterwards.

Would love to sit at your table again, GM Valen!
Merida sends her regards. ;-)

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So does Nightkit :)

Grand Lodge

1) Character name: Nikita Volkov
2) PFS#-Character#: 342384-9
3) Character Class & Level: Paladin 7
4) Faction: Grand Lodge
5) Day Job (with roll): Heal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
6) Any other downtime activities: -
7) Fast or slow track: Fast
8) Have you played or GM'd this scenario before? No
9) Anything unusual or fun about your PC that you think the GM or other players may like to know?

My character has an advanced firearm (revolver) and a special boon for it.

Thanks to the well-known events in Irrissen, he got from revolutionary Russia from Earth to the lands of Golarion. There he was a red commissar of the revolution, here he found his vocation in the paladinship of Ragatiel, the General of Vengeance (almost same thing). He speaks with a terrible Russian accent and dreams of returning home.

Also, in addition to Nikita Volkov, I have a Shifter 6, Hunter 5 and almost free Fighter 3 - this is in case of another tier. Thanks .)

@GM Valen: The first time I read your starting post I completely missed the link to RPG Chronicles.

As sign-ups on RPG Chronicles will determine seating, here it is again for everyone else: Link to RPG Chronicles

Signed-up on RPG Chronicles.

1) Character name: Grunjar
2) PFS#-Character#: 331079-1
3) Character Class & Level: Cleric 7
4) Faction: Silver Crusade
5) Day Job (with roll): Profession: Scribe, MW tool: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 = 29
6 Any other downtime activities: n/a
7) Fast or slow track: depends - usually fast, but if we will also play the sequel, then slow
8) Have you played or GM'd this scenario before? no
9) Anything unusual or fun about your PC that you think the GM or other players may like to know?

I put all special abilities and traits in Grunjar's character description.

My dwarven cleric has stonecunning and uses door sight and bit of luck quite often.

@all:
Anyone who often rolls a d20 in a combat round (attacks of opportunity, BAB>5, archer with rapid shot, ...) might want to get a bit of luck from me.
It uses up my standard action, but you have 2x the chance of hitting (and critting!) for one round (it even applies to saving rolls!).
Therefore, you might want to be after me in the order of initiative (and maybe have to delay in the first round).
I used it before in several adventures on an archer with really good results. :-)

Grunjar is very wise, but he has a little quirk - he is terrible with names. He just cannot remember them right... ;-)

Dark Archive

@kaervek78: Thanks! I hadn't fully decided on which character when I joined the thread, but I'[ll go with Lady Vanessa. Though it sounds like we could use a front liner still. I signed up on RPGchronicles.

1) Character name: Lady Vanessa Reizende
2) PFS#-Character#: 151562-9
3) Character Class & Level: Oracle (dual cursed) 7
4) Faction: Dark Archive
5) Day Job (with roll): none
6 Any other downtime activities: none
7) Fast or slow track: Fast
8) Have you played or GM'd this scenario before? Nope
9) Anything unusual or fun about your PC that you think the GM or other players may like to know?

Lady Vanessa has the Misfortune Mystery which can force rerolls on others. She uses it in two main circumstances: landing her own spells, and protecting her allies (and her!) from crits and very important failed saves. Her botting instructions on her character page have more details.

Oh, and she can be a little risque. Not filthy, but flirty, suggestive and sex-positive. If anyone wants me to tone her down once we get going, please let me know.

Lantern Lodge

Well, pretty sure I'm out then. Everyone else seems to be high tier. Have fun.

The Concordance

1) Character name: Spica Capella
2) PFS#-Character#: 124312-17
3) Character Class & Level: Wizard 7
4) Faction: Concordance of Elements
5) Day Job (with roll): Astronomer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Someone has to do the actual observations and calculations for the astrologers :)
6) Any other downtime activities: Swimming and Aquatic Dance, as well as astronomy outreach and teaching.
7) Fast or slow track: Normal i.e. Fast
8) Have you played or GM'd this scenario before? Nope.
9) Anything unusual or fun about your PC that you think the GM or other players may like to know? She loves to be in the water and given any excuse to dive in she will. She also wears tinted glasses on land because of bright sunlight but doesn't need them underwater. Usually dressed in her robes (c.f. People of the Stars, pg 28) but wears a matching two piece in the water. A Desnian Butterfly brooch is pinned to her robes. Likes to party and have fun but is equally happy in a library researching interesting lore.

Anyone remember the cost of scribing spells into a spellbook in Society play? She has a few to do.

Grand Lodge

Scroll costs are on page 491 of the CRB and are further refined by the Season 10 Guild Guide, pg 21.

You just do a Spellcraft check with a DC of 15+Spell Level to "Learn a spell from a spellbook or scroll" (CRB pg 106.)

"If you fail to learn a spell from a spellbook or scroll, you must wait at least 1 week before you can try again." But since there's no cost other than time (which is undefined between Society scenarios), I don't see why you couldn't take 10 or even 20.

Looks like we have our 4 player minimum. Those above may go ahead and post character introductions in Gameplay.

Still room for two more. You can sign up on RPG Chronicles

Where do we start out? A Venture Captain's office? A ship bound for Oppara? An inn in Oppara pre-opera? (Say that last one three times fast!)

@Phaeton/Spica: How do you want to handle Lady V & Spica? Their mission together "never happened." (The game started, but the GM disappeared during the first combat, and the table decided to simply cancel.) So maybe they met at a briefing for a mission together that got called off while they were enroute to it?

Lady Vanessa Reisende wrote:

To answer your question, as written, the adventure starts just outside an opera house in Oppara with the party sharing a collective flashback to a time during the prior week when you were all in the Grand Lodge of Absalom with the Venture Captain. It was written for Season 0 and they were still figuring things out then.

You may choose wherever you wish to make introductions. I will adjust/handwave as needed.

Grand Lodge

just wanna put this here..if you guys do the sequel, shoot me a message...would love to play it with the character that did this one....have fun!

The Concordance

What you said makes sense to me .... or they met at one of Zarta's parties, where Spica was doing exotic underwater dancing as part of the entertainment.

Liberty's Edge

I forgot, Derf has a Thieves' Guid, so his day job roll is 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
