So, almost finished with the Dwarven Bard/Monk knowledge monkey.

Has anyone else noticed that a Bard doesn't ACTUALLY have to be any good at Perform to use Bard Song? The amazing scholarly monk who can't carry a tune and tends to drone on, but provides all kinds of bonuses to his companions while doing so just strikes me as funny.

Interestingly enough, Bard (Dwarven Scholar) does NOT inspire courage. Instead, he grants a feat to those in range. Everybody can have Arcane Strike, or Unarmed Combatant, or (the EitR) Dodge out of the gate. At Level 2 I can add Combat Reflexes to the shopping list.

Still don't know if I'm going to want to swap out or not. I LIKE Flicker.

Just wanted to add that I’m Pacific time zone.

For your next revision, add (Life) to the oracle. Just to clarify that I'll be in a good healer along with the blasty. Obviously we'll have lots of healing, but I expect that we'll need it. The best way to balance gestalt parties is a long adventuring day.

Ok, I finally figured out what I’m going to pitch. We don’t have any roguish/trapfinder types at all, so I’m going to pitch a fighter (lore warden)/investigator (empiricist) for that role. I’m not sure of my trait yet but she’s going to be a tiefling who worships Kelinahat (the Empyreal Lord of intelligence, spies, and espionage). She’ll largely be a skills character but should be pretty solid in melee and be able to offer some buffing and healing once she gets the infusions discovery.

Back with my more serious ideas (nothing anime or Don Quixote). I have a Dwarven Halcyon Druid / Ravener Hunter Sanctified Slayer made for this campaign that would make a great hierophant, but we already have four submissions for hierophant. And then I remembered another character that I built a while back with the Chance Encounter trait: a half-orc alchemist named Pakk Holstad doing research on the abyssal energies of the Worldwound. I need to go and find my old notes, but I'll try brush Pakk off and see how well he fits into this batch of high-powered misfits. Now I just need to figure out what class to pair him with...

She's a warpriest/slayer. What she puts on the table:

That doesn't mean I want monopoly on the thing. Just making you aware there are some builds with Trapfinding in their plans (mine is probably not the only one).

polyfrequencies wrote:

Jereru wrote:
Nioku had the Touched by Divinity trait, but she's not going to be a Hyerophant. Most probably.

Picking a trait does not force you into a path. I chose that one out of fluff preference, but my plan was never going Hierophant (even if I don't get the full benefits from the trait). At most, dual path, and that's depending on what the party composition is, but the character is not able to supply top tier divine support.

Now, if the GM wants to pick just one character with each trait, then... I guess someone would have to play a Guardian (I'm sorry XD).

Dang it. Sorry Jereru, I totally forgot slayers can do trapfinding.

Well… I’ll give a little more thought to trying to come up with a unique niche, although I kind of feel like I’m running out of real estate there. If I can’t think of anything really original I’ll probably submit something anyways and just try not to be too similar to anyone.

Most of our casters look like blasters… maybe I’ll do an arcane caster that’s really focused more on control?

Okay, I did it.

I have (basically) finished the Child of the Crusades Dwarven Bard (Dwarven Scholar) / Unchained Monk (Perfect Scholar).

Talk about a bookworm!

Second generation Mendevian Crusader who traces his ancestry back to the Shining Crusade, and then into the depths of history (and Golarion, honestly).

At the moment I need to add a description, but I think I have the rest in place well enough.

So, please, change my submission away from Flicker, deep into the most contested part of the potential group, to Anthiol Ironhead, who has a little less competition, and is fairly unique besides, I think.

I feel you, and I didn't want you to build a whole gestalt with the belief that you were doing something unique only to find out there three or four other similar characters. Been through that and it's quite demoralising.

We will see if I get my submission in on time. Looking like a last day submission is likely.

Khry was made for the starting of a gestalt Wrath game, which you can read her posts on her alias.

A Blighted Gnome druid/kineticist from the Forest of Stones, she was there when the druids did what they had to in order to defend their home from the demon invaders.

I originally had her set at Neutral Evil, but only in the 'will do everything in order to save her homeland'. She definitely wouldn't cause any issues with any Good PCs, but if adapting her to True Neutral is what the party wants, I can play her as a more Neutral and just slightly uncaring manner.

Double checking build is in line with requirements, but the basic idea is together already.

Okay- I have an idea that I think is reasonably different from everyone else. I’m going to submit a hungerseed tiefling ranger [shapechanger, wild stalker]/druid [feral shifter] who is a refugee from Sarkoris. He’ll primarily be a frontline melee guy but he’ll have some scouting ability and spell support, and with flexible bonuses from animal focus, and the options that come with wild shape at 4th, he’ll be able help out in a lot of roles as needed. He also gets rage at 4th level which should be fun when he’s a bear or lion or whatever.

Also, I need time to actually write him up so this is officially my final idea; if anyone feels like he’s stepping on their toes, I apologize.

He'll probably step on more toes once he gets to wild shape into large forms. ;)

I do believe I’ve figured out what I’ll be swapping out the Sorcerer for, the Seducer Witch! I’d only do it if the DM and other players and comfortable with the flavor of the class, but it is thematic (Arshea and all that). However, I’m definitely up for changing the flavor stuff of the class if the DM is.

As long as certain aspects of the witch are taken behind the black curtain, and if the other players are fine with it, I'm okay with the witch's archetype.

Here is GiantHalfling’s submission. I’m in EST. I went with the guardian trait because I figured I would most likely take the guardian path for even more durability (since I plan to be at the frontline of every combat), but if the GM wants to go with one of each trait I’d be happy to switch to stolen fury or touched by divinity if it helps (I’m thinking I might dual path into champion or hierophant anyways). All my crunch should be done except that I have a bit of money left to spend on sundries (some rations, a couple scrolls, maybe some holy water or alchemist’s fire). I didn’t have time to post any fluff yet but I should have that up tomorrow.

I mean, WOTR ends up on a business trip to literally Succubus central, what could possibly go wrong with a seducer witch?

Beerfiend munches some popcorn in his pre game selection lobby, wishing to use his meta knowledge before it gets removed should he get selected.

And Mordred of Fairy returns.
I went with silly both ways.

Darius is an awakened and reincarnated badger.
He kept the temper and added opposable thumbs.
Plus a substance abuse problem after being taught alchemy.

MordredofFairy: Darius Sharpe, Alchemist(Beast Shaper, Vivisectionist) 1 | Unchained Barbarian(Invulnerable Rager) 1

He will have awesome DR/- and plenty of potential damage output(pouncingly shattering defenses).
Tank and Melee DPS in a combined package,
(And none of the moral complications or table manners of more sophisticated characters.)

Still have plenty of time! Get some sleep.

I was trying to build Ana as a trickster and fill that role since it seemed the most needed. I even considered going with a vivisectionist/sword saint to make a really cheesy dex nerd. Ultimately though, neither direction fit her and I got back to work on what fit.

So here we have a stolen fury beat stick. She is filling a different hole in the applications I noticed. The "strong as a bull and twice as thick" role. Background is about a page after adjusting it to fit the description of her campaign trait. Feeling a bit self conscious about that.

That said, I am really happy with the build. She has a lot of different ways to approach her position in the party and combat as needed.

I'm really happy with how Evelynda turned out, and I think she has her own special niche: the Anvil. That is, her job in combat is to lock down enemies so that the other characters (the Hammers) can do stuff to them before they can do stuff to us. She's a dedicated grappler with all the awesome debuffing spells on the witch list (frostbite, ill omen, touch of blindness, bestow curse, confusion, enervation and more)-- many of them deliverable with her hair, triggering a grab. She's less focused on dealing damage-- though like a monk she will get pretty good at punching over time-- and she does have some support spells that will help the party (things like keep watch, haste, and see invisibility). And she's basically Tentacle Head! How cool is that? :)

All these final hour strength builds.

I mean, if she seduces everyone in the party then we are less seduceable by others? Right? Right? Beerfiend offers

Actually it is an opposed charisma check Says an attractive melodic voice coming from somewhere.

A "Totally not Succubus" ethereal jaunting through the ceiling, I am glad she is talking and not dropping hand grenades Thinks Beerfiend as he hears the voice

Dear mortal, what is a hand grenade? A probing thought enters Beerfiends brains. Ah, an explosive Numerian contraption? thats useful! Also, what is this mysterious "mysterious stranger" thing you are trying to hide from me?
willsave vs mindreading: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Should be charm or compulsion

In a single class level, firearms, adding our force of personality to our strikes and hitting touch AC? While looking attractive and mysterious and not actually having to touch anything? Why, dont mind if I do!

What have I doooone?!?!?!

Dont fret, I am not going to kill you. I did spot the idea for having Lady Nocticula Dual wield 2 shadowkisses, using her tails to reload, clearly I shall take this cunning plan and present it as my own! You are quite the human resource arent you?

I am an Aasimar

Pffft, technicalities

Well, I telegraphed my intent early.

With the fixed slot going to a Sorcerer/Oracle, I felt that this concept would be a better contrast over the other two options I had considered.

In before Auntie Noctie takes a liking to her, profanely ascends her, and permshapeshifts her into a Rusalka. Although I dont neccessarily think she would get a Rusalkas tresses, Rules as written! Says Beerfiend
Beerfiend and his inner voice:

Auntie Nocti? what an endearing term my dear! Says the voice in his head, again.

Huh, isnt that what Iomedae calls her in the 66 unauthorized acts of Nocticula and Iomedae? Beerfiend awnsers

Truth to be told, I did not expect our propaganda to be that effective. Having penetrated the upper echolons of future crusader leadership is certainly an exploit, due in part to my humble contribution regarding modelling for the illustrations.
The voice adds

Out of interest, how do you even maintain a pose for such a degree of time? Beerfiend enquires

Quasit based photography. Pioneered first on a rather odd disc shaped world that is on top of 4 very large elephants, which in turn are on top of a giant turtle. Pretty odd place, I was supposed to recruit a Wizard named Rincewind, but.... I did take a look at the one spell he can actually cast and buggered off.
Its a bit of a pain because they only photopaint anything related to porn, but it works. Of course, then you have a photoshoot, the Quasit runs out of skin color and the entire cast has to turn into Shoanti because black is still available.

Ah, and I thought the whole Mwangi jungle detour never made much narrative sense. Beerfiend answers, his mind quite entertained by the revelations.

Yes, because you clearly perused this tome for its narrative structure... The voice adds, dripping with irony

And its deep character development! Beerfiend thinks, enthusiastilly.

And because secretly, you look forward to getting smitten by a bunch of Irate Paladins for being an insanely horny Skald in a Succubus rich enviroment? The voice delivers a powerful psychic blow

How yo you... Oh, right, your are reading my mind! Beerfiend remembers

Yes, and I shall keep doing so, It is great material for both mechanical exploits, cunning insults delivered to my Ladies near peer competitors and ohhh, I just found your first poems! Gosh, they are so bad, I could assassinate Shelyn with them! You did improve though so good for you! The voice moves crits in the telepathic psychic damage comparetment, sending beerfiend reeling under the assault.

Good luck everyone! DM CrazyComic you've got some great options here. Thank you for running the game, we players really appreciate it!

My background is finished and posted now. I tried to keep it fairly concise since you'll have a lot of them to read through, but I can add more details (and names) if you want things you can use as hooks (though you usually don't need those for APs).

@Robert Henry- Thank you for being keeper of the sacred list, but to be consistent with the other entries mine should read:

Ha and now there's four Marshall submissions, I guess that's just the way it goes. WoTR + Gestalt was always going to be popular. I'm surprised Guardian submissions outnumber archimage ones though.

I'm guessing some people may have shied away from mage builds knowing that the guaranteed player is a sorcerer/oracle?

That might be the case, but having another two full casters isn't a bad idea, because they can work with each other so all bases are covered.

I agree, I’m just guessing why there might be less archmage submissions than might have been expected?

Also, since we're all gestalt, a lot of us are planning to Dual Path, so the trait doesn't define quite as much about our characters. :) It makes sense, since gestalt kind of gives everyone two standard characters in one body. Heck, in a silly rules game like this, it might even make sense for the GM to give all the characters Dual Path by default!

And it has been declared that the campaign trait does not LOCK you into a certain mythic path. Darius will likely be Champion, but the possibility to maybe not get possessed by some demon and turning on the party was totally worth child of the crusades.
(That said, the adventuring group where he served as Animal Companion was active in the last crusade, so...those are his family, kind of.)

I think sorting by campaign trait was simply a relatively effective way to sort for Robert when he created the list.(and thanks for that)

Darius Sharpe wrote:

Actually, and to my knowledge, traits never locked you into a path to begin with. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what it does is give you a certain benefit if you pick the appropriate path linked to the trait (beyond the original trait benefit).

Of course, is usually better to get the benefit than to not get it, so it's understandable to pick the linked path. In my particular case, I just liked the fluff better.

That’s my understanding too. I don’t really know the details but I think the bonuses for matching your trait to your path might actually be bigger than the original benefits of the trait?

A, that is curious.
The only Wrath game I was in that got far enough for that to matter was non-mythic, so I wouldn't know, but that is interesting.
Still, I want every chance I can have at not turning on the party, so I'll stick with it.
Maybe if the benefit is particularily good I'll take a look at Marshal and Dual Path(like many others seem to plan) into my preferred path, Champion.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

It is correct that the traits don't lock you to certain mythic paths, yet they do offer some bonuses if the suggested path is taken that coincides with the trait. With how silly that is, I've been looking at the traits as to see what benefits go with the combinations, and will most likely change things up when we get to that bridge, which I think folks might like with what I'm planning.

I wonder if going Dual Path Hierophant and Archmage would be beneficial… That way we’ll have one Archmage at least, but I do really enjoy the flavor of Touched by Divinity trait.

At least as written, the traits have a minor role in the story in that the characters get a chance to resolve unresolved questions about their trait in one of the later books-- it's why I basically flavored Evelynda's backstory so that either the story associated with Riftwarden Orphan or Stolen Fury applies, to give our esteemed GM more options should it come to that. :)

Honestly, I originally selected Child of the Crusades just for the flavor, but the more I look at them the more it seems like Marshal has the best options for my build.

I would lose out on quite a few of Champion's good options to being a Natural Attack build that doesn't have enough Dex to make Armor Master appealing. Trickster was quite good, if only for Assured Drinker, but only a few options outside of that that seemed useful.

Marshal, meanwhile, has a lot of options that are just sort of statically useful support abilities and a couple of options that synergize quite well with what I have laid out for the build (Tactical Genius and Mythic Bond will both combo well with the Ranger's Animal Companion). A more support-y shell from Marshal will help my character, to continue eriktd's use of roles from The Forge of Combat, double as both a Hammer (rendering the enemies into a fine paste of loot) and an Arm (helping any Hammers in the group succeed in the aforementioned paste-rendering through buffs).

Silver Crusade

I'm in CST and here is my submission:

Constantine

Anastasia's trait pick fits her like an old glove. That's why I picked it. TBF trickster would likely benefit her the most due to action economy of being able to drink as a swift and/or without provoking.
