So, I saw a lot of people that were interested in playing a gestalt WoTR game, so here is me, throwing in my hat for ANOTHER Gestalt WoTR game. Mythic will be included, but that's because I love shenanigan, plus, y'all are supposed to be heroes!

1. Races: Any Race that is 20 RP or less.
2. Attributes: 20 point buy
3. Gold: 300 gp
4. Background skills in place
5. Alignment: Good preferred
6. HPs: Max at 1st level
7. Classes: All Paizo sources allowed as long as you can reasonably tie them to campaign.
8. Traits: 1 trait and 1 Campaign
9. Post your timezone if you want. I am PST, but tend to post more in the evenings.
10. Gestalt rules.
11. Looking for three characters, as I have a friend that requested I run the game.

Recruitment will last until September 30th so you can throw around ideas!

So excited to finally play this. I'm Putting together the specifics now but I am looking at a sorc/oracle gestalt.

Also: the campaign trait tie-ins look like they'll be fun.

Silver Crusade

I think I still have my Paladin/Sorcerer in my Aliases.

I got my "I wanna see it" gestalt into a game, so I'll need to consider what to offer.

Dotted for interest.

Magus (Kensai)/Unchained Rogue?
The infamous Irori Unchained Monk/Paladin?

I don't know. Just spitballing at this point. Won't really look at a concept until the weekend.

Silver Crusade

Dotting for interest. I haven’t played gestalt characters before, but the concept is really intriguing. I’ll get back after reading the players guide and pondering a bit.

ooh, dotting. Let me think of this one...

Silly? And wrath of the righteous? Count me in!

Character idea: "Mythic substance abuse", Beerfiend is a Mutagenic Mauler (Steroids yay)/Skald (booze yay), who worshipped Cayden Caylean and wishes to spread the booze.
Cayden thinks he overdoes it, so he switched to Kurgess.
He drank a Succubus under the table, and was chosen as Kurgesses champion in a pranking contest, he obviously doesnt know the rules.

Traits Story wise:
--Chaotic good
--Fun affine, very optimistic
--Talking before smashing, actually really good at military history
--Strongly redemption leaning
--Chance saviour, he drank a magic teleportation cocktail, ended up randomly in the worldwound, got saved by the chance savior lady.
--One sentence: Joakim Bröden frontman of Sabaton, with a slight Steroid problem, as a Pathfinder WOTR character.

Mechanical:
--Frontliner, 3 good saves
--Face
--Secondary skill, lore in particular monkey
--Buffbot, will not cast offensive spells other then maybe grease
--Backup healing via bard spells and spell kenning.
--Can pickup a Skald type that doesnt shut down spellcasting.

Here is Mightypion Mutagenic Mauler/Skald submission.

Since Skalds mess with spellcasting, I may end up using Urban Skald or Spellwarrior, which do not.

Hey DM CC a 'Silly game of Wrath of the Righteous'? Curious indeed. It feels like the WotR I'm in is dying, so I may throw my hat in the ring, so to speak. Do you know what race/class/AP trait your friend is taking? I'd Rather not step on their toes :)

Edit: If were going really silly would you consider the 'Elephant in the Room' Feat tax rules or the Automatic Bonus Progression rules?

WotR. That's why I'm in these forums. So I must apply, noblesse obligue.

One question:

The Arsenal Chaplain is, fluff wise, originally coming from Molthune. I have problem in being a Molthune native, but since Mendev is also a highly militarised nation, would it be reasonable to assume they might have a similar military unit there?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

hmmm... I'm thinking of synthesist summoner who hides in his eidolon. They are utterly terrified of being in normal form.

Perhaps a small race, by my eidolon pretends to be human.

I could come up with something fun. Never played WotR.

I knew I forgot something to put in the first post!

Additional rules!

1. Elephant in the Room tax feats are a go!
2. Automatic Bonus Progression is a go as well! (That way, no one's gear falls behind)
3. Fractional BAB is a go! (A way so everyone can have more BAB!)

As for my friend, they're going human, but i don't know what trait they're going with as if this moment.

Considering that both nations are highly militarized, I would definitely accept the archetype.

Awesomesauce! I will be writing up an alternative version as well, which uses Spell warrior (really good archetype for automatic bonus progression, works with spellcasters, which probably we have 2 more off).

Quick explanation:
--Automatic bonus progression considerably reduces the weapon boni you are typically rocking (although you could just pick an upgradable mythic weapon to make an end run around it, depending on how GM feels about that), especially for anyone using multiple weapons.
--Spell warriors use their performance to up friendly weapon enchancement boni, and are pretty flexible in how they do so.
--They still get rage powers to hand out, and I will make everyone laugh at DR good by level 3 via angelic blood rage power.

@GM I have made some slightly silly NPCs who were well received in a PnP WOTR game I am in. Can I PM them to you?

I'm interested! How silly are we talking here? I'm looking at a human Esoteric magus // White-haired Witch with the Stolen Fury campaign trait (flailing Muppet spaghetti arms).

GM by silly, how silly are we talking? Is this a campaign for Lord Flasheart?

Oh dear gods, I was hoping 'silly' was being use in the context of "abusing the rules" not in the context of .... well you get the idea.

Jereru wrote:

I meant I have no problem :p

Okay, I have a silly concept that is also really functional.

But I think I'll hold off on that until the judge clearly identifies which version of silly was intended.

Good Sir, any notions of me, Askold "Beerfiend" Magnusson plotting to weaponize homebrewed mythic tears to wine (great expanded booze amounts) in an effort to jumpstart the production of booze powered Sarkorian Thermobeeric multiple rocket launch systems are just Deskarite Propaganda!

Furthermore, I have no intentions whatsorever of using ventriloquism, alter voice, and a conveniently placed effigy of Deskari and/or Baphomet to convince cultist personel that our parties Paladin is the chosen one.

In addition, I deny any allegations that I plot to assassinate the Glabrezu Demon Jerribeth by dropping a runic anvil, consecrated to Torag, on he horned head via a cunning antigravity trap!

Nor shall I endeavor to kill a worldwound dragon by capturing a Ghibrileth, dressing it up as a flying Meatball and trolling the dragon into eating it.

Last but not least, and no point shall I troll Staunton Vhane into grappling a Succubus, after bluffing him into the believing said Succubus was out to betray him, by utilizing my knowledge of a certain fiendish, but exceedingly well illustrated, tome called the "66 unauthorized acts of Iomedae, Nocticula edition".

bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

sense motive DC11:

While Beerfiend would jump into any WOTR game, he seeks to do the kind of silly that makes GM and fellow players laugh their assess off.

"Some hoo Ah aye assumed someain named Askauld "Beerfiend" Magnusson woods be a Feckin' dwarf."

I am a Kellid! Whose ancestors got naughty with angels because why not!
How about a wee little drinking contest, or do ya need a loicence for that?

Standard action, use Con mutagen

Next standard action, cast tears to wine and share booze for drinking contest

Fortsave: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 26 2 base 2 con 2 from 4 extra con via mutagen

Well now Beerfiend is just showing off.

Depending on the silliness level, I could see making a Kineticist/UnMonk for some fourth wall-breaking shonen shenanigans.

Otherwise a Bard/Cavalier prestiging (naturally) into Battle Herald as a Don Quixote type.

Or a Magical Child Vigilante who is very cute playing games with their familiar before pulling out an enormous gun and shooting the demons in the face.

Just a few ideas.

Silver Crusade

I'm still struggling with Ideas, but I love Ala'Ihys backstory. He was originally a divine hunter but I hated the fact he couldn't Melee to save his life. But if I gestalted with Dervish of Dawn that problem would be solved.

Now I just need to figure out how to get him over to the 'Worldwound' and an appropriate AP trait.

His Story:

The black stallion hammered across the grassy Plains of Paresh; Ala’Ihys, mounted on his back, glued to the racing saddle. Shamshūn mother had named him; for his size as much as for his strength. He was huge for the breed, sixteen hands, his large nostrils flaring on his wedge-shaped head; his breathing like a blacksmiths forge. Ala’Ihys dreamed of riding this colt in the Histaqen. They followed a dry river bed, in a couple of miles he planned on turning off the bed and cross the bare plain back to the oasis where the tribe was camped for the night.

As they rounded a bend in the ravine Ala’Ihys heard an arrow whiz past his head, as two others hit the neck and ribcage of the beautiful beast he was riding; he heard and felt the sickening thumps, as the horse screamed in pain and threw Ala’Ihys from his back. Later Ala’Ihys remembered seeing the beautiful black beast bloodied and staggering as a pack of Gnolls creased the lip of the ravine; a split second before his head exploded into unconsciousness from hitting a large rock in the dusty river bed.

Ala’Ihys awoke there in the ravine, blood pouring from his head and several smaller abrasions. As he gained consciousness, his head spinning, he tried to focus on the sights and sounds and smells that assailed him. The stench of blood and offal and fetid sweat invaded his olfactory senses, almost causing him to vomit. The sound of flies buzzing around his head, drawn to the blood there; the sound of insane laughter and guttural speech interrupted by the crunching and slurping sounds of wild carnivores eating. The sight of the remains of that beautiful black stallion, purchased to bring glory in to his mother’s people in the Histaqen, lying in a pool of its own blood and entrails; the pack of molted brown and black knolls squatting over the remains the stallion, large chunks torn off and the pack fighting over the raw pieces, gnawing on bones; cracking them open and sucking the morrow out.

He tried to stand, but too dizzy from concussion and loss of blood he dropped back to the sand, stunned preventing his motor skills from working. His attempt to stand caught the attention of the hyena-like fiends. His head spinning, time seeming to slow down as he slipped into unconsciousness. He dreamed he saw the first Gnoll; crouched-over mouth frothing, mace raised to strike, drop as two arrows sprouted from its maw through the back of its head. The second demon-spawn, seeing its fellow pack member fall, beginnings to turn, also drops in its tracks with two arrows in its spine and ribcage.

The last part of the dream was the most magnificent, rising out of the west, surrounded by light; the gold and blue and white archer dropping his great recurve bow, drawing two scimitars and charging into the Gnoll pack. Ala’Ihys remembered thinking Mother will be so proud, the Sunlord Thalachos himself has come to fetch me into the arms of The Dawn Flower.

Ala’Ihys awoke realizing he was not in Nirvana, no one felt like this in Heaven. His head still throbbed even with the wound mystically healed, his body ached, cuts and abrasions gone, but the soreness of being thrown from the horse remained and the memory of that beautiful racer ruined by scavengers. No Ala’Ihys was not in Nirvana but in his mother’s tent. It had been years since he had been inside, since his coming of age ceremony, It hadn’t changed any; the pillows, curtains and carpets all in the same spots, the small table moved out of the way, he was taller now. As he rose up to speak, his mother, reading his thoughts, pressed her hand against his shoulder and said ”No, he is no longer here, he said he had other prey do deal with.”.

As Ala’Ihys laid back down he said ” I thought it had been a dream.” Laughter came from the door of tent. ”He said you spoke of Nirvana in your fever-dreams and he left this to prove it was real.” Ala’Ihys father, Ahmad Fadlān al-Abbās Merchant prince of their people. held up the mace that the knoll was preparing to strike him with. ”I am indebted to this man.”. Turning first to his mother then his father asking; ”What is this warriors name? I have a debt to pay.” His mother’s smile turned forlorn but his father laughed and answered: ”that is the best part, he said he is a ‘humble servant’ and your debt is to the ‘Dawn Flower.’ I have already decided that all the money we would have wagered on the black stallion in the Histaqen will be offered up to Sarenrae at the Sun wrought Festival.”

Ala’Ihys’ mother silently shook her head, as he stared at his father. ”It is not enough father, money cannot answer everything, ‘an eye for an eye’ right, father? ‘A life for a life,’ you taught me a debt must be paid. As a merchant prince that is why you serve Abadar ? I owe her my life father, I have a debt.” Ala’Ihys mother sobbed silently, but when he looked in her eyes she smiled through her tears and leaning down and she whispered Ala’Ihys, I named you for her father, go with her my son with my blessing.” Hearing the blessing of Amatullah al-Rashid, Princess and ruler of the Nabataean tribe, Ala’Ihys slipped back into sleep in his mother’s tent for the last time; his father, knowing better than to argue with his wife and liege lord, dropped the mace and left the tent.

Background:

Ala’Ihys had much in common with all Keleshite boys who are raised in the tribes of the Plains of Paresh; they all revered Sarenrae, they all honored their mother and father, they all learned the bow and scimitar, they all learned to ride before they could walk and they all dreamed of racing in the Histagen . What was different is that Ala’Ihys was able to ride in the ancient annual horse race due to his parents great wealth.

He was the result of an arranged marriage. Two great houses coming together to create unfathomable wealth. From the al-Abbās clan a renown shipping family, known the world over, his father, Ahmad Fadlān was married to Amatullah the oldest daughter of the al-Rashid family and therefore heir apparent of the Nabataean tribe. Due to their extravagant wealth they purchased and raised fine enough horses to run the Histagen and Ala’Ihys had raced in several, finishing but not winning, yet.

It was while Ala’Ihys was training for the great race that he had his encounter with Sarenrae and swore to serve her. His mother, a devout follower of the ‘Dawn Flower’ was very proud of his decision and felt since his birth that he would serve her; thus the reason she named him Ala’ (nobility of) Ihys (an ancient dead god who is considered the father of both Sarenrae and humanity), to honor her goddess and her people. His father, a follower of Abadar, had planned for Ala’Ihys to follow in his footsteps and become a great merchant. After Ala’Ihys recovered from his wounds he armed and dressed himself with the humblest equipment possible and left.

Appearance:

A prime example of his Keleshite heritage, black hair and beard both simply cropped short, yellow eyes, and bow legged. He stands 18 hands and weighs 14 stone. Having the thick chest and arms of an archer and humbly dressed in undyed cotton pants, shirt and jacket. The baggy pants tucked in simple unworked leather riding boots. The armor, simple chain mail held by a plain leather belt.

His most decorative item is the white scarf around his helmet bound with a blue and gold cord to honor the Dawn Flower. He also carries two weapons to honor her: a scimitar, the gift she gave his people at the dawn of time and the mace the gnoll carried, which would have killed him if she had not intervened on his behalf. His bow, arrows and buckler are the simplest that his mother’s people crafted, made by apprentices, functional, but a far cry from the fine craftsmanship the Nabataeans were known for.

Ala’ Ihys’ mother insisted he take one gift representing the pride of her people; a horse, a fine horse, one to represent the people he came from. He selected a strong grey gelding named Khamsin or ‘the wind’ From the Keleshite word for "fifty", these windstorms often blow for over fifty days, hence the name. The gelding was aptly named because this sturdy little grey could run for days.

Personality:

Ala’ihys was born with a fiery competitive personality that was inflamed by his parent’s wealth into self-absorbed arrogance: an arrogant prince of an arrogant people. Realizing that serving Sarenrae would demand first and foremost humility he attempts to exemplify in all aspects of his life; his appearance, his language, his thoughts and his deeds. He attempts to mix truth with grace, though not always succeeding.
Guidelines he follows:
Awaken with the dawn and give thanks and praise to the rising sun.
Be willing to offer mercy to those enemies who seek absolution and renounce evil.
Be ready at all times to destroy irredeemable corruption.
Be willing to solve feuds and disputes among neighbors and family.
Speak the truth with grace.

The kinds of silly, in that I'm doing Gestalt and Mythic, so whatever you all would like to make, as long as it's not inherently evil.

An example is I view necromancy as not evil, if the cause works towards good, and the soul is willing to help, since they only lose their spot in line to get to the boneyard for judgement.

For the Automatic Bonus Progression, it would mostly to help with a lack of item distribution for saves/stats. When it comes to Arms/Armor, I would be running a version of the Upgradable Mythical Items, as +'s and Enhancements can be upgraded on currently bonded items, that way if someone finds something they like, they can use that or their bonded item.

As a side note, to help with armor enchantments, clothing and robes will be enchantable for those who don't wear armor.

Gestalt and mythic? Lawks!

Nice! Not sure what I want to play yet, but I’ll definitely be submitting something.

So right now because that stolen fury trait is so juicy, I'd like to submit Zeno Leroung, a Chelish Expat. As a victim of the Demonic Ritual, Zeno manifested spontaneous magic. Thankfully because he was a member of a minor noble house, he received training. However, because Cheliax tends to favor the meticulousness of Wizards, Zeno decided to continue his education abroad. He wanted to study one of the most magically active areas in all of Golarian, the World Wound, so he set out for Mendev.

Zeno stands a little under two meters tall, is 23 years old, and bears clear marks of his Chilaxian heritage. He keeps his black hair tied back in a ponytail, which has grown long on his journey.. Zeno's particular family line has strong Ulfen features despite their smaller size. Zeno set out on foot two years ago but has retained a robust written correspondence with many others in the minor nobility of Cheliax. Since he has arrived in Mendev some of his letters have been circulated as "Reports from the Front." Currently Zeno is looking for opportunities to embed with a group of Crusaders so he can "safely" go deeper into the World Wound, and report back.

If this idea fits then Zeno would likely be a Sorcerer/Oracle with a focus in conjuration magic as a manifestation of the ritual he unwillingly underwent years ago. I'd like to take the Lore Mystery to help cover my knowledge checks and play Zeno as a bit of a War Reporter. He has lots of reason to be in the region, and to engage in risky behavior.

Also GM question: How valuable will the craft feats be given the rule variants, or would you just rather not see them?

@Geometer: The crafting rules could be used better more for magical gear that isn't arms/armor, as those will be progressing with the character.

Also, having the ability to craft, I would say, can help modify or change enhancements if the proper feats are taken.

Wonderful! I've wanted to play around with some of the weirder items and this seems like a good place to do it.

Automatic bonus progression is great for weird items, because you no longer need to dedicate things to the "big 6".

How would ABP interact with a class/archetype that already gets scaling bonuses for a weapon, like the Magus’s ability to spend pool points on his weapon or the Black Blade archetype’s scaling intelligent weapon?

I am not the GM, but generally speaking, nothing stops you from casting magic weapon greater on your ABP weapon.

Ouachitonian wrote:

Askold is correct, as for the abp of a weapon, the archetypes that get scaling weapons, can have a secondary weapon that gets the abp scaling, while their class foci will tend to have faster scaling progression.

Example: Black Blade Scimitar can be +5 Flaming (after arcana), with a +2 Weapon as a secondary.

It helps with various options for DR/Hardness resistances while not overshadowing their class features.

Also, for certain skald abilities, when they start their songs, it means they don't have to worry if someone's weapon is already magical, and can tack on the other enchantments that are avaliable to them.

Overall, I feel it helps with options for everybody, even if they don't use their bonded abp weapon, it is there in case.

Oh my goodness. Getsalt, mythic, elephant in the room, and shenanigans preferred? I think my alchemist bar bar could have a great deal of fun if retooled. I did always like the idea of power bombing enemies out of the sky. Bonus points if you can throw them up there to begin with.

Hi possible substance abuse buddy! Definitly looks like Beerfiends gonna be a spellwarrior if selected, because hej, spellwarrior stacks with all other rages because it doesnt duplicate any morale boni!

There is some fun to be had because we can drink each others extracts, mutagenic mauler doesnt get any spellcasting though.

In terms of rage power selection (on the Skald side, which I hand out to everyone), definitly celestial blood, (because hej, lets make everyones attack count as good aligned and do +d6 holy to demons! I am certain that this is completely irrelevant in this module yesyes!).

Damn, I have some really silly backup character ideas. One is Bloodrager spiritualist (fractured mind so both are CHA casters), with the Phantom having the mindset of a teenager.

So I've been wanting want to make a lightly armoured fencer who treats combat as a (deadly) dance for a while. Possibly virtuous bravo paladin + something flavourful (perhaps dervish of dawn bard for battle dance). Could also build this with daring champion cavalier + X.

Anyway before I get too excited do we know which class the GM's friend wants to play? If it's a front liner I've got a cleric idea I've been working on for WoTR too.

Oh my goodness. Rage mutagen is supernatural. Lesson Learned gives you a +5 toward future saves against such things when you fail the save. That is amusing.

Will definitely also apply with something here.
I got 2 or 3 ideas gestating in my mind, but I'll try and wait to see what your friend comes up with before finalizing anything.

Either Falcata Swashbuckler/Oracle(Spirit Guide), Unchained Monk(Scaled Fist)/Sorcerer(Tattooed), or maybe Alchemist(Vivisectionist)/Unchained Barbarian(Invulnerable Rager)...something like those.

Okay, this one isn't so silly in terms of story, but you have to have a straight man around.

Question: can we take a drawback to get an additional trait?

Anathiel is obviously an aasimar, but there is an obvious curse dragging him down. He has a lion's mane and feline face, but it's sunken in and his fur is patchy and worn. His limbs are scrawny but wiry. You aren't sure how he stands upright with his hide shirt and backpack. And yet he stands.

He is a life oracle and a chaokineticist - he has a wellspring of life, but also contains a black void trying to suck that away.

Geometer is my friend, and they're going to be summoning and crafting/enhancing with both divine and arcane, so they'll have minions galore later on, which works quite well in pbp.

I have Nioku here, built according to your rules. I'm putting the backstory together and will post it later today.

She's a warpriest/slayer. What she puts on the table:

-High Dex and 6 skills per rank makes her an able skilled character. Not a rogue, but fairly capable. At 2nd level she can pick Trapfinder.

-Deadly ranged capability. Very deadly.

-6th level cleric casting.

-High saves for a non-paladin, because half-orcs are broken :p

-Potential good mobility.

-Thanks to EitR, she might be able to squeeze a feat or two for group utility, be it crafting, non-spell healing or whatever.

Hey DM, how likely are you to select multiple characters with the same campaign Trait? Should I think about changing Stolen Fury to something else, or work with Geometer and others to make sure we were all part of the same ritual?

I’m kind of surprised that an Oracle//Sorcerer would want a trait that boosts CMB and leads to the Champion mythic path. I would think Riftwarden Orphan would be more mechanically appropriate, but maybe that’s just me? :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@eriktd: I'll be accepting folks even with overlapping traits.

Geometer informed me that it was more for backstory purposes.

Besides, All paths can be chosen, and not locked in by the trait's associated path.

As another side note, rather than it being a group of 4 total, I'll be accepting 5 for a full group of six, as it seems silly and fun!

@eriktd I don't particularly care about the bonus to CMD, I just really dig the flavor part of the trait. There is no need to optimize every choice for combat when a strong-stat caster will have lots of options already, especially given the resiliency of the mythic paths.

@Geometer Are you open to having our characters learn they were both part of the same ritual? (If mine is chosen, of course!) I was also looking at the Tainted Spirit drawback, which seems like it meshes really well with Stolen Fury.

My tentative idea is that my character was born to well-known mages (maybe even Riftwardens?) but kidnapped by cultists as a baby who wanted to sacrifice her as part of a demonic ritual. Fortunately her parents managed to stop the cultists, but they died in the process. She was found by crusaders and brought back to Kenabres, where she was raised by her foster father. But recently she has begun to demonstrate magical powers, and also having terrifying dreams of an insect-like demon biting her and drinking her blood.

It occurs to me that what I am describing is basically a combination of the fluff of the Riftwarden Orphan trait and the Stolen Fury trait. I wonder, perhaps our esteemed GM would let me modify the flavor of one campaign trait to match a different one instead? I suppose there’s no reason the mechanics necessarily have to match the different traits?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@eriktd: I don't mind too much, as it seems that your backstory could be from either trait, so one or the other would work in your case.
