I will keep those scrolls (and lots of other items) on the Loot Tracker for now. Recall that you cannot use items that have not been assigned in combat or other encounter situations.
If you wish to sell or claim some of those items, just mark it down here. If claimed, those items are usable just like any inventory item.

Just as an fyi I’m on vacation this week (posting from a boat on the Great Lakes) but should be able to keep up, just can’t quite promise posting every day.
If we hit combat I’ll make it a priority to keep things moving though.

Can we offer the bracers of missile defense, them add in the doubling rings if that isn't high enough? Those both seem like good items that a bandit leader would want.
Fentus Mourncrag |
I’m still not sure what the plan is here lol, I’m just like riding a wave. It seems like maybe we shouldn’t let these bandits continue existing ya know? But Fentus isn’t really the murder hobo type to suggest violence first.
The bracers and the doubling rings could be good to offer her.
Trista Lortella |
These bandits just seem unrelated to the mystery we are trying to solve. If Breechill wants us to clear them out, they can hit us up at the next call for heroes.
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Let’s start with the bracers.
Though, we could just kill them and take their stuff, AND get a reward
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Just thinking preemptive betrayal for her sudden but inevitable betrayal would make sense.
Yeah, that makes sense. Good thing Olaf is chaotic
Olaf, Son of no-one |
I’ve got a busy week with kids, relatives visiting and a big birthday bash next week so I’ll do my best to keep up.
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Both kids have birthdays a week or two apart, so we are doing a joint party with a while pile of kids, a bouncy house and all that.
Should be a riot, possibly literally.
DM DoctorEvil |
Be advised, I will be leaving tomorrow AM for a week's vacation. I plan to take my gear with me to run the games still, but may not have the time or inclination once away from home.
Will be back next Sunday late night, and back in the regular saddle then, but you may get a few bonus posts this week. We will see.
Olaf, Son of no-one |
can't wait till level 4 so I can raise shield and block as a reaction instead of having to spend an action every turn
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Had a little 3 night run of insomnia this week (happens mid summer and mid winter for me sometimes, but it’s been a while) so I’ve been a zombie, finally had a solid night of sleep last night so hopefully I’ll be able to read and comprehend properly now.
Fentus Mourncrag |
hey I'm going up north for two weeks. Should be back on the 25th. Should have alright cell service most days. If I'm moving slow ~ more than a day of waiting for me, please bot me.
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Just to make sure, nobody is waiting on me, right? There's no roll or anything to wake up, correct?
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Started training for a new job this week so I’m still working out my work/life/family time change balance, posting might be a bit erratic till I settle into the swing of things once training finishes and my regular hours start.
Fentus Mourncrag |
Fentus releases the energy he had crackling in his hand, letting the hellfire pounding in his ears slow to a steady dull thrum. "Let's not talk about my attempt at being heroic, it didn't really go as planned."
Looking to the spider creature, "I'm sure we'll see Voz again before this is all over,"
He'll begin to explore the area with the others.
Olaf, Son of no-one |
That’s right, we lost our player who was skilling up in Battle Medicine and it’s chain.

Since the nature of PBP makes for long times between story threads, do you want/need a story recap so you can make more sense of what is happening? It might be important to take notes, or at least keep a running list of questions you have about why things are the way they are.
I will recap things you should already know, if you want.

I feel pretty good so far about where the story is at personally. My understanding of the story so far is:
So far we all gathered around to answer the Call for Heros by the city council. During that initial meeting the council building was lit on fire and attacked by small fire creatures and a devious halfling.
Additionally there was some sort of danger to the goblins at the old castle/citadel on the hill. Coincidentally it seemed the halfling had escaped to the citadel as well. With our sights set on the citadel and saving the goblin tribe that lived there and catching the Halfling we set off to begin our journey.
Arriving at the Citadel we decided to just brave the front entrance, turned out there were some terrible hairless dogs guarding it so we backed up slowly and looked for an alternate entrance. Finding that alternate entrance we then began romping through the castle getting into fights until we arrived at a large courtyard with a dragon thing guarding it. We fought it, defeated it barely then saw the Halfling threatening the remnants of the Goblin tribe.
Using some of Fentus' infernal magic, he charmed the Halfling Calmont and was able to convince him that the goblins were beneath him and that Fentus and Calmont were fast friends. I convinced him to go into hiding in the woods and wait for me to return and I'd help him with finding the treasure in the basement.
The goblins explained that very strange creatures had forced them from their home in the basement and we agreed to go kick some ass in the basement. We went into the basement and begun kicking ass. Fought a bunch of Lizardfolk or something and strange birds from the Far South. Seemed impossible for such creatures to be all the way up here unless magic was involved. We also found some Kobolds and we befriended them and placated them by calling them great dragons and such. They agreed to help us secure the basement or at least not fight us as we secured the basement. We explored another wing filled with terrible undead. We almost met our end thanks to these specters and zombies and revenents. Here we found a tunnel that led all the way back to Town and popped out in the basement of the seedier bar in town. Fentus intimidated the owner into spilling her secrets that Voz used it.
Connecting the dots that Voz must be responsible for whatever is going on with the Castle and the Undead there we went to her house. Inside while exploring Fentus was almost sliced in half by a terrible trap he sprung. Barely living through that they found evidence that Voz was at a local landmark known as Guardian's Way. We asked around, got directions then set off.
Bringing us to today where we stumbled upon some bandits in league with Voz but we were able to convince them it was in their best interest to leave Voz's service. We traded away a magic item and some promises and then went into this Cave where we confronted Voz. She revealed she was evil and now thanks to her letters we have proof she is an Adherent of Norgorbor and truly unredeemable evil.

Also level four for Fentus brings a new spell, Blood Vendetta . I really like the flavor and utility of this spell. A real "How dare you make me bleed my own blood" kind of spell. Made me laugh a little. Felt in character.
Also he learned how to Bon Mot I guess. And he gets a free spell slot to cast Heal or Harm at his highest spell level (lvl 2 spells currently).
Olaf, Son of no-one |
Oooooo level 4! I’ll detail further when I get my laptop out but I’ve been looking forward to level 4. Now I can raise shield AND block as a reaction (I do lose out on attack of opportunity) so that really opens up my action economy with spellstrike and arcane cascade.
I finally get to act like the rest of the magus sub classes
Added 2 spells: Mirror Image, Sudden Bolt.
Get my second, second level spell slot.
Took Emergency Targe as noted above as well as Alchemical Crafting.
Still need to determine my 4 1st level formulas yet.
I'm open to suggestions, my initial thoughts are just useful things to have:
antiplague (lesser)
antidote (lesser)
elixer of life (lesser)
Ghost Charge (lesser)
but the weapon siphon plus a bomb could be fun too, an extra 1d4 energy damage to my attacks wouldn't be the worse, and with spellstrike I don't do second attacks all that often so the -1 won't come into play all that much, probably.
Trista Lortella |
Level 4:
Scroll Thaumaturgy (Use any scroll and use your class DC as the DC)
Natural Medicine (Use Nature to Treat Wounds)
HP: +9
+1 to everything
Now, time to look through our loot for scrolls I can use.
Olaf, I think those are good ideas for formulas.
Trista Lortella |
Would people look over the scrolls in our loot and claim any that they want? Trista will tuck whatever is left over in her book. You know, magic bookmarks. :)
