My main Starfinder character is a Warrior Poet who creates Lashunta Epic Poetry - It's stanzas are each 7-5-7's.
Azara, son of the sun
Player messed up count
Now, it's a Starfinder thing.

GM Blake |

Miladistra sighs and hands her club.
Didn't you spend your actions summoning a Grig? I'm fine if you want to retcon to move and hand the club to Teja, but it has to be one or the other unless I've missed something.

![]() |

I'll stick to summoning the grig. Sorry, my follow up post was flavor text.

GM Blake |

You can definitely throw a club.
Might do better in Jun-Mei's hands, though, since it's not Finesse.

GM Blake |

Zabu: There's a square with melee access to #4 north of Jun-Mei.
Also, Tumble Through is almost guaranteed to work vs. these things if you're at least trained in Acrobatics.

![]() |

I wasn't sure about that square. The tumble through option didn't occur to me.
It's probably not going to matter, now.
I am going on vacation until Wednesday so I very likely will not be posting. Feel free to bot me as necessary.
My basic combat routine is in my profile.

GM Blake |

Rather than delete 4A and make a new 4C, I just moved 4A's token to a new location. So the 4A on the tracker is a different ooze than the 4A that died.

GM Blake |

Apologies, Jun-Mei, you are not grabbed any longer. That was a carry over.
Per previous behavior, Jun-Mei blocks the first of those constricts to do damage to Tejah.
I think Tejah is back, so I left the saves for her to roll.
Therisah had some bad luck. I botted the Fort save 1) to avoid confusion in the order of operations and 2) she would have needed a Nat 20 to not go unconscious.

GM Blake |

She looks at Zabu. "Maybe you can do a little better with this club? Looks like you need to batter 'em rather than cut 'em." She holds out a simple club.
Oh. The price of Animal Instinct...

![]() |

Reads up on Animal Instinct Anathema Oooh...

GM Blake |

If you can get everyone free and at least half the table wants to retreat, let me know. Oozes are slow. You can rest and try the other route.

GM Blake |

And 34 hp. Your bot critically failed the 9 HP constrict. Let me know if you want to Hero Pont it.

![]() |

Feels like we ran into the perfect counter-encounter, eh?
- Can't crit
- I think the only bludgeoning weapon we have is my club
- Immune to electricity so I can't hurt them
- Damage sponges that can grapple frontliners, forcing healers to heal

GM Blake |

Don't forget immune to precision so Investigator and Rogue are handicapped. Aktuh does have a club hammer, though.

![]() |

Everyone has fists which are bludgeoning. -2 for lethal but oozes have poor AC.
I don't know how much space we have but with their low speed, backing up forcea them to use more actions than us. Like we can back up 45' (2 actions for most characters) and they use all 3 to catch up.

GM Blake |

You don't have enough space to kite them. However, if you'd like to retreat, that can be arranged (before Event 5 starts).

![]() |

I'm happy to retreat if everyone is keen on that.
Have we killed any of them? They seem to have a whole heap of hp.

![]() |

Sounds like we'll wrap this up in 48 hours, no matter what.
Let's get out of here.

![]() |

Looks like we are on a hiding for nothing here. I doubt they heal, so if the other path is even worse, we can always come back this way.

![]() |

I'm fine with retreating. I think Therisah should delay so that we're all in a block for initiative; we can Aid Escape and run for it.

![]() |

Shall we make them come to us, or charge around the corner into their archery?

GM Blake |

They're all wielding daggers. Some weird Aspis thing, I guess. Even the fighters wield daggers.

GM Blake |

Is the map scale correct? Each square is 2.5 feet?
In order to fit the description of a 25-foot wide bridge, yes. They apparently used an asset for a much grander bridge.

![]() |

Does anyone want to be enlarged so we can block the bridge?
Otherwise I may open up with a Lightning Bolt...

GM Blake |

BTW, If I'm still on 34hp, I would totally have used medicine on myself before the encounter. If that was not an option, then I'd probably have just done medicine on myself rather than dash forward.
You are specifically given no time to do any recovery once Event 5 starts.

![]() |

I'll take an enlarge but only after you use a Lightning Bolt (after all, how often does such a perfect opportunity present itself?)

![]() |

For future reference unless I have the day off I can usually only post in the evenings at about 9 CST. I can sometimes break away from work to do a very quick post or make a save or something but frequently I cannot. It wasn't my turn yesterday so I didn't post anything and it might have seemed like I wasn't paying attention. In the future I'll throw up some sort of filler post to show that I'm still watching even if it isn't my turn yet.

GM Blake |

I'm not too sure what that would be, I'm next to her, so I'm kind of assuming this is a single action to drag her 5' backwards.
I've had to do similar actions recently, and I haven't found a description of the activity in the rules, but your proposed actions sound reasonable.

![]() |

Rules question: I'm currently doing a stabilise with medicine, based on the treat-wounds not specifically saying that it removes the dying condition (although it does remove wounded).
If I can treat wounds rather than stabilise (to get Miladistra back into the fight one round earlier) I'll do that. Sorry, my rules knowledge of v2 is still in its infancy.

GM Blake |

First Aid is the activity you used, but you have Battle Medicine, so you could have used Battle Medicine for one action (and not needed to move her), if you'd like to revise your turn.
EDIT: As for the question of the dying condition, anytime anyone with the dying condition goes above 0 HP, they lose the dying condition (and gain/increase their wounded condition).

![]() |

I definitely want to move her, so she can stand/cast without potentially getting an AOO.
But yes, I'll use battle medicine to restore HP.

GM Blake |

Moved the initiative block around so Zabu could act in the majority block. It's not like the presence or absence of flanking on one attack vs. Zabu was going to make or break this combat.

![]() |

Eep? That seemed abrupt. No BBE?

![]() |

Thanks for the game, guys! I always like the multitable specials and this was a great team of players and GM.

GM Blake |

No BBEG. Just wave after (potential) wave of Aspis agents.
The larger danger is resting too often during Act I and II, which generally won't happen unless multiple tables are abusing the rest system.

GM Blake |

Corrected chronicle uploaded.
Let me see about getting the reporting corrected.

![]() |

I forgot my day job too
academic: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
crit!
So task level 4, but a crit success makes it task level 5.
I think that is 72sp? I get confused as the online tools are not consistant.

![]() |

Thanks for the game, GM, as well as spotting errors in my character build. Large Deroff will have to wait for a few more levels.
