GM, I got a 28 on a DC 15 Basic Save, so I should take zero damage from the exploding rat.
Correct - but your save for the barrel wasn't a crit, and because you were around the barrel when it lit the oil, you also got the persistent fire. 4 from the burning barrel and 3 from the persistent fire
Exploding Rats - DC 15 Basic Reflex Save
Barrel Igniting the Oil - DC 18 Basic Reflex Save (all those around the barrel or covered in oil)
Althelsted Everwell |
Reflex (DC 15), fatigued: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 = 20
Athelsted avoids the bulk of the flame, but drops.

The Carnelian Signet |
I can heal Athelstead or try to fix the barrel. Can't do both. Then again Callistos isn't looking too good either.
GM Tiger |
Eventually you all manage to subdue the rats and disable their harnesses. Once the rats have been disabled, the dockworkers muster the courage and help put out the fires. As you clean up and patch yourselves up, Aayah returns and is shocked to see the mess after the fire.
"I thought you were all experienced adventurers! How could you let this happen?! Somehow the Consortium won't look favorably on this, but I suppose a deal's a deal."
She hands each of you 10gp and stalks away, muttering to herself.
In the evening, you overhear that a subsequent investigation revealed that the chameleons were initially headed to a more appropriate receiving area but were rerouted by falsified documents.
A big THANK YOU to all of you for putting up with my delays. Getting sick in the middle of Gameday was never part of the plan. There's really not much left with the bounty other than beating the rats and cleaning up, so I thought I'd just end it here.
Chronicles have been emailed.
The Carnelian Signet |
The Carnelian Signet keeps her mouth shut while the boss berates her for failing to disarm a fiery barrel.
Oh well, payment's a payment.
"Toodles, everyone. I'm going to return to my client and then get drunk somewhere. Once I clean this oil off of me..."
Issil Telfae |
Issil still can't get the stink out of her skin. Her vision is still hazy, but the wine she ordered isn't too bad. The Aspis Consortium is still a mystery, yet they clearly don't work together. Someone is sabotaging them actively, and it's not the Society. There are more missions to solve, but not today...
Thanks for the game, GM!
Standarii |
Standarii is a bit stunned at everything going on around them, but acknowledges that this is just how life can be, sometimes, among groups like the Aspis Consortium. They make sure the others are alive and healthy enough to go their own separate ways, before following their own path to Absalom.
Good playing with you all, despite our dice! Thank you for the game, GM!
