Oh wow, I forgot to check for a few days and things moved ahead. Maybe I should forget to check more often...and yeah, real life ALWAYS gets in the way of hobby life; that seems to be its mission...

Oh wait, I'm in?? Coool, time to see how a shroom sorc plays.

Next year. XD

Any chance you could start the Gameplay thread so we can dot in and know when things start?

Looks like he did. Drop your dots, Dwarves!

Okay folks I am in need of a couple of players.

Its a 5e all dwarf campaign and I need a couple of characters to help round out the party

Currently have 4 players and in need of two more

I have an Artificer, a Bard, a Sorcerer and a Cleric

I am in need of a strong melee or two

The clan Thane, Thane Norri Orehide leads the Hammerfast Hold and the Godforge Clan of Dwarves. The valley below is a relative wilderness full of few inhabited places. Norri seeks some of the ‘finest’ young dwarves to lead into the wilderness, explore it and tame it in the Name of the Godforge Dwarves.

He will have you go with a caravan of Dwarven Settlers to get them to the ore-rich hills to the south. After that, you will venture forth to claim lands and allegiances to the Godforge Clan and create the new Dwarven Kingdom.

All dwarf party, NO DUERGAR, roll 4d6 for each stat reroll 1s and 2s keep the highest 3 for each stat. Or if that does work for you Standard array. Roll for Hit point at 2nd level

This is a Kingdom Building/ Exploration Game for DnD 5e. All Classes and Subclasses are in play from published WOTC material.

All players get one dwarf-based Feat or an Extra Language, Skill, and Tool Proficiency at 1st level.

Using Dawn War Deities

Also Just the PHB Dwarves as I might do Kaladesh Dwarves as well.

As for books, NOt the new Mordenkienens book.

No Campaign specific backgrounds. If you all want to build a background that's great though through approval.

As for Subclasses. I am open to any Subclasses from official materials.

I am okay with the Gunslinger and the Critical ROle Subclasses, as well as the BLood Hunter.

Ability Scores:
1: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 4) = 12
2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 5) = 17
3: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4) = 12
4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2) = 19
5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 3) = 11
6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 1) = 13
reroll 1: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
reroll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 4
reroll 3: 1d6 ⇒ 3
reroll 4: 1d6 ⇒ 4
reroll 5: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
reroll 6: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

14, 16, 11, 17, 10, 14

Beast Barbarian inbound.

Level?

Here's Jubal's Barbarian

Backstory non-existent at the moment

Level 1

So, has this actually started? Would new characters be coming in at the start or in progress? I'd consider a Dwarven fighter or possibly
a ranger, which might be rather useful.

Roll 4d6 for each stat reroll 1s and 2s keep the highest 3 for each stat.

Let's see what we come up with:

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 1) = 9
Reroll 3 dice: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17
17

Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6) = 19
16

Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 4) = 16
Reroll 1 die: 1d6 ⇒ 5
16

Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 5) = 17
Reroll 1 die: 1d6 ⇒ 2
16

Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 5) = 14
Reroll 2 die: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
13

Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) = 8
Reroll 1 die: 1d6 ⇒ 2
8

Well. That's certainly something I can work with. :)

I think I'll make the deadline the 6th as it's a short pick-up of people I need.

Do you need a full profile stated out?

A dwarf hex crawl definitely sounds interesting.

I think I can submit Ienmar Hearthfire to the recruitment pool.

Brief Background
Ienmar is a dispossessed noble whose clan's hold was conquered by the Bloodspear orcs. His family was mostly killed as well, and he nursed a grudge against the orcs and the monsters they used to conquer his home. He seems to believe that there is as a dragon that helped the orcs conquer his home, and that his home has been turned into a lair for the beast, but is unable to rally the support to retake it from the monsters within. He studied dwarf rune-magic under the Rune Wardens, but incorporated magic into his stout combat style of hammer and shield instead of taking the path of an artificer or wizard.

He joined the Godforge clan as a soldier but retains his dispossessed house's colors. He, as most dwarves, builded himself up as a miner, giving him the essential dwarf-skills that helped him guard the tunnels and help delve into enemy forts.
He is a frontliner tank who has combat abjurations and divinations to augment his defenses.

Build
The Prescient Knight subclass sounds fitting, so that's a possibility. If not, he will go instead with multiclass fighter/abjuration wizard.

Adventure
Escorting a family and miners to a quarry sounds right up Ienmar's ally, especially if he is familiar with the region (such as it being near old Hearthfire lands).

No profiles yet, but a link to a sheet would be nice.

Backstory!:

"What's wrong with trees?"

I had just asked this of Lord Hralgar Stonebeard, an Elder of the High Council of the Ironhand clan, who had called me into his chambers for an individual meeting. I knew what this was about and he knew I knew. I decided to get in the first shot.

He looked at me with all the affection one gives to a rust beast who just destroyed your grandfather's favorite suit of mail. This all came down to one basic flaw.

I was being a bad dwarf.

"There you go again, young John," he said in a way both grandfatherly and patronizing. Perhaps it was impossible to separate the two. "We do not think trees are evil, per se, but it is not trees that provide what is necessary for us to live. Can one mine gold from a tree? Can one find a vein of precious sapphires or luscious rubies in trees? Of course not. Now perhaps they are pretty to look at, and of course the best trees make good lumber once they are cut down, but we must not let their welfare be our cheifest concern."

And there you had it. You could not sell a tree.

"Then I know what I must do, Lord Stonebeard. As I am of the age for the Rite of Walking, I see no reason to add a slight modifier on top of it."

He sat in silence. He knew what was coming as well as I did.

"I invoke the Oath of Gain. We shall see who can out-sell who."

"You are of an age to take up thy quest. Many of thy brethren have already left. I See and Acknowledge thy Oath. May you Return in Glory."

To "Take a Walk" was nothing new. Many young dwarves either not suited or ready to settle down to the important and ever-lasting tasks of the clan left into the World of Men to see for themselves what lay beyond the stone walls. Many returned and were usually happy to settle down. The ones that did not return were thought of as good riddance.

However, as I was on the verge of Deportment--to be kicked out with no right of return--I took the Oath. Basically it meant that I could return, and if I did so with sufficient riches and coin, I would be hailed as a conquering hero. More so, my ideas would be given more weight! With high status I could lead the clan out of their grey and stolid ways and into a new age of prosperity and advancement!

All I had to do was win.

And live. I suppose that is important too.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Good day, I just saw you were re-recruiting for this campaign and thought I would express my interest. I rolled stats during the first recruitment, so will work from those. A quick question as I consider classes (paladin, rogue, hexblade warlock), are you allowing the update rule from TCoE to swap an ability score modifier from race?

Thank you for your consideration.

No ability swapping modifiers remain the same before Tashas.

Going to withdraw from this, as I am likely to end up stretched too thin. I'm sure you'll do fine with the other applicants joining up!

Good Travels!

Ienmar's sheet is ready to roll.

Lawful good dwarf fighter tank, with a background as a guild artisan to help craft or reinforce strongholds (good with both masonry and carpentry) as well as further the goals of the guild (if he can keep up with his guild payments). He is good in fighting inside tunnels, caves, over land, and can even provide some leadership, and will help protect all the other dwarves.

"If by life or death I can aid the clans, I shall."

This is Arrius with Ienmar’s profile.

So is Ienmar in?
I can assure you I always play PBP for the long haul, never dropped out of a single campaign since I signed up in 2014.

I am really looking forward to any kingdom building aspects, and have built Ienmar to help in this regard. Just because his family was killed and he has no hold doesn't mean Ienmar has nothing to do. In fact, this makes him even more keen to make all dwarf-folk (or even other civilized races) his people.
