Belladonna of Desna |
Its listed in the GM’s last post, Belladonna.
Is it the 9d6, 7d6, etc...?
GM Aerondor |
Yes, even if you made every save, unless you have fire resistance active, Belladonna can't survive those damage rolls.
Status: Bold, Seven saves required.
Ny'a -2 to will;
Harpua -4 to will;
Two Blades -2 to will; Uninjured.
Tere -2 to Will; Protection from evil- 14 damage
Pau -1 to Will; - 31 damage;
Belladonna -1 to will; protection from evil. spiritual weapon; dead
Deluge - init 15 has a flaming sphere; dead
Belladonna of Desna |
"I love you all!!! Aaaahhhhhhh!!!”
Bella screams the moment before she's incinerated.
I will pay the 16 PP for raise dead and, if needed, 5 PP for body recovery.
Tere di Montefeltro |
Even if Ny'a makes all his saves, half damage from the fireballs will still kill him. Harpua might survive due to his evasion ability, but none of the rest of us can do much with him.
As the echoes of the multiple detonations die away, Tere stares around him in shock. Then he shakes his head and pulls himself together. "Two Blades...Pau? I think we'd, ah, better gather up the bodies and get out of here. Pack up that crystal, though, and it had better be worth it." He looks up at the ceiling where the ogres had come from. Is the pedestal high enough that one of us could access the openings from it, or could we climb along the ceiling to reach them?
GM Aerondor |
A quick look in the ceiling shows just large cavities that the ogres were hiding it. There were four of them, but only three ogres. The forth shows signs of being used, but not of its occupant.
Pau |
”Do we want to have a quick look up there from where they came? Keep in mind, we still have enemies waiting for us on the other side of that portal,” Pau grumbled, thinking about the last room they sprinted through.
Two Blades in the Shadows |
"Well, that just sucks." Two Blades said as he looked at the smoking remains of the others. Making room in his haversack, he started loading what he could into empty sacks, making a note as to who's stuff was in each bag. "Lets go check the hiding places before we leave" Two Blades stated, taking a leap up into the cubbyhole
Acrobatics(Jump): 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (16) + 28 = 44
Ny'a |
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
If I read all that correctly, that's 71 hp of damage, dropping Ny'a to -27 hp. She could potentially reduce that to 64/-20 with a successful reroll of #5, but that's still dead.
Ny'a's body is obliterated like so many others in this room, but after a moment, a brief groan escapes her crispy body as her flesh begins unbelievably knitting itself back into her normal form. "Whaaaaaat was that?" she croaks, her previously-charred body somehow beginning to look like new, down to the fresh baby-pink glow deep in her skin.
Using her Empyreal Revenant boon to gain the effects of raise dead through the end of the scenario. She gains no negative levels from this, and will drop dead at the end of the scenario, at which point I'll have to do raise dead for real. Assuming there's a reason to continue? There's a reason I chose to bring Ny'a on this particular jaunt specifically.
Harpua Nutbag |
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 evasion
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 evasion

Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 evasion
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 evasion
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 evasion
Reflex DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 evasion
Harpua begins licking Ny'a as soon as she stands, his tail wagging and with no indication that he ever had a worry. His tongue curls around the edges of his mouth, licking his lips as he cleans the remnants of char from Ny'a's skin.
GM Aerondor |
With the miraculous resurrection of N'ya and survival of Harpua the group takes a stock of its position.
The holes appear devoid of anything other that Ogre detris. There are no other exits.
There is the crystal on the plinth in the center of the room and the two portals though.
Tere di Montefeltro |
"We'd better heal up." With Two Blades' channel, I have Tere down 14 HP as well.
CLW, 18 charges left: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW, 17 charges left: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Tere checks the plinth and crystal for traps. "Two Blades, could you check my work? This place...." He shrugs. If neither he nor Two Blades find any he'll take the crystal.
"Can we go back the way we came? We've lost most of our spellcasting support."
Pau |
Pai offers his curative wand to the others advising the group had better heal all their burns before proceeding.
CLW 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 6) + 2 = 10
Two Blades in the Shadows |
"Given that we have not found enough for my bar tab, hopefully there is something of value in this place!" Two Blades said, looking over Tere's work.
Perception(Traps): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
GM Aerondor |
Tere tries the portal you came out of and finds himself... back in the same room again, having been turned around.
Status:
Ny'a -2 to will; 39 damage;
Harpua -4 to will; 23 damage;
Two Blades -2 to will; Uninjured.
Tere -2 to Will; Protection from evil- 2 damage
Pau -1 to Will; -
Belladonna -1 to will;
Deluge -
Ny'a |
Empyreal Revenant heals Ny'a to half her normal hp, so she's at 22 after the necklace of fireballs. She uses her wand of cure light wounds to heal both herself and Harpua.
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Ny'a 26/44
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Ny'a 31/44
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Ny'a 34/44
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Ny'a 38/44
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Ny'a 44/44
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Harpua 25/42
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Harpua 30/42
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Harpua 38/42
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Harpua 42/42
Sorry, just a bookkeeping post. Roleplay again tomorrow.
Pau |
”So we can’t go back the way we came in. That’s just lovely. So how do we proceed? I think we probably should collect that crystal before trying one of the other portals. Anyone see any traps there?”
Deluge-Core |
Things of interest to scavenge from Deluge's corpse. Everything is well labelled:
Pearl of Power, level 2
Wand of Summon Nature's Ally 1 (50 charges)
Wand of Resist Energy (4 ch) (Unseen Inclusion)
Wand of Stone Call (6 ch) (Tapestry's Toil)
1 Scroll of Endure Elements
2 Scroll of Speak with Animals
1 Scroll of Summon Swarm
1 Scroll of Delay Poison
1 Scroll of Gust of Wind
1 Scroll of Spider Climb
1 Scroll of Speak with Plants
1 scroll of Daylight
1 Scroll of 5 Lesser Restoration
12 goodberries
Might as well use it to recover a second level spell now since he is not going to be able to.
Tere di Montefeltro |
"That narrows down our choices. We'd better keep up the protection from evil spells when we go through the next gate."
Tere takes the crystal if he and Two Blades didn't find any traps.
GM Aerondor |
The team spots no obvious traps on the pedestal.
And nothing more explodes when the crystal is taken.
Tere di Montefeltro |
After renewing protective spells and making sure everyone is healed up, the party goes through the next portal.
Ny'a |
Ny'a joins the others, ready to continue on.
Not sure on how much time has elapsed; let me know if Harpua needs a refresh of mage armor. (1 hour duration) Ny'a will need a caster if so.
Tere di Montefeltro |
We don't have any arcane casters, so the mage armor will depend on whether Two Blades can take 10 on his UMD check.
GM Aerondor |
Even with tidy up from the blast, only a couple of minutes will have passed max. Mage armour will be fine. 1m/level spells from wands will likely have expired.
I don't believe you can take ten on a UMD check. It is specifically called out in the rules.
As you step through the portal, for a moment there seems to be no up or down as you float in a void of blue, swirling light. With a sickening pop, you find yourself standing in the end of a twisting corridor, its walls patterned with an almost hypnotic series of repeating blue and gray stones. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear an odd grinding noise at random intervals..
GM Aerondor |
Map is updated
There in another plinth with another crystal upon it.
No obvious traps that Tere can see.
Pau |
As the group proceeds, Pau pulls out a potion and chugs it down.
Barkskin so +2 to AC for 30 minutes.
Ny'a |
Ny'a examines the plinth and crystal. Detect evil, because she might as well.
"Is this it? I don't like this. Seems too simple; too easy!"
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
GM Aerondor |
Ny'a detects no evil on the crystal. So Tere reaches out to grab the crystal...
Anyone stopping him? Just pausing. You know, dramatic tension
GM Aerondor |
Yeap, Tere checked for traps.
Tere secures the crystal... with no obvious repercussions.
Two Blades in the Shadows |
Two Blades stood by, ready to use any wands as necessary as the crystal was checked out, taking a glance at it to see if it was magical.
Detect Magic
Pau |
”So, we’ve found two crystals by my count. Did anyone notice if there was a crystal in that room we sped past earlier? This looks like one of those tricks where we might need all of them to find an exit…”
Ny'a |
"...and I guess it just was that easy." Ny'a concludes. "Yeah, let's go search for more crystals? I guess we'll have to backtrack, and go through another portal?"
Tere di Montefeltro |
"I don't think we can double back, so we'll have to go through the other gate here. Everyone ready?"
Once everyone is set, Tere will go through.
GM Aerondor |
What is the ordering you are all going through in?
Tere, Two blades, Pay and then N'ya as rear guard?
Deluge-Core |
And who is dragging Deluge? You will find him to be QUITE the load.
Deluge-Core |
Just a handy haversack. Probably could fit a halfling, but Deluge? Not!
Belladonna of Desna |
Bella the Bacon Strip is quite petite. Pau could probably fireman carry her.
GM Aerondor |
Passing through the portal, you come out another one. The sounds of clicking can still be heard, but there there seems to be a choice is passageways. At least one (to the left) ends in another portal. The other bends out of sight.
Tere di Montefeltro |
Are there any sources of light other than what we brought? I ask because Tere can hide in plain sight if he's close to an area of dim light, something that may be useful.
GM Aerondor |
The portals provide an eerie blue light. I'd argue that provides dim illumination everywhere.
