Ready to heal Pau, Ny'a looks down in horror as Harpua is nearly obliterated underneath her. She instinctively sends Iomedae's healing power coursing into the animal, then scrambles for her healing wand, knowing she's probably going to need more than Iomedae can provide.

"Get him, Harpua!" Her attack command comes almost as an afterthought.

Actions:

Standard: lay on hands to heal Harpua
Move: retrieve wand of cure light wounds
Free: Handle Animal (attack any target) DC 12, link: 1 + 9 + 4 = 14

Harpua bites at the construct around the corner, perhaps wondering why it was chomping on such a non-fleshy creature, but loyal to Ny'a and willing to chomp whatever she asked.

Actions:

Ny'a, don't forget that you get a Ride check to avoid one of the attacks on Harpua.

Thanks! Unfortunately, while I remember reading about that rule, I can't actually find it, so I don't know the DC. So here is a plain Ride check.

Shall I do the ride check for you for future blows against Harpua? Though to be honest with their attack bonus and your ride... you would be lucky. Still, any chance is better than no chance.

Tere struggles to stay up the wall and operate a wand at the same time. Ny'a struggles to stay mounted. Harpua struggles to stay alive. Though at least that last struggle seems to be improving with the help of Ny'a.

Harpua struggles to bite the golem, the wall that saved him proving a problem for the dogs own return bite.

The two golems, making satisfactory progress continue to attack the same targets.

Yeah, I'm totally good with that. It's an immediate action, and definitely impacts your posting narrative if she succeeds, so go ahead and make the roll for her.

And yeah, she's not likely to succeed much; I got the feat for the chain, not for its particular effects.

Ny'a can feel Harpua's life flowing away underneath her, but she grits her teeth as she faces the harsh reality: saving anyone here starts with saving Pau. Tears begin weeping from the corners of her eyes as she reaches out to send Iomedae's healing energy into the tall monk instead of her loyal mount.

Pau continues to pound on the green golem. Unable to get the benefit from the corners protection, his first attack rocks it. The golem dodges the next two attacks, lured into a mechanical sense of security, when in a burst of unnatural speed, Pau drives a final kick into its clockwork gears. With a shudder it starts to vibrate and fall apart, gears flying everywhere!

Ny'a places her healing hands on Pau, while Harpua snaps at the burst gears.

Golem last time had to move as there was a corner involved. And it was a move through its allies space. This time it could 5' step into what looked empty. 5' step fails. Again the rules are unclear here, but the simplest solution is just having the action (5' step) fail and be lost.

Makes sense, and that goes to my misunderstanding of the previous case vs. this one. As the player, though, if I'd understood that I was going to potentially take a full attack from the golem, I would have gone full defense.

That is fair and even lines up with what you posted about readying for an attack. You had a standard action available, as even with stealthed movement, you had sufficient to get to where you wanted to go, and could draw a weapon as part of that. I'll recheck the hit/crit confirm this afternoon.

FYI, cover provides a bonus to AC, not a penalty to attack rolls. I know people apply it both ways--and quite commonly--but it's REALLY to the players' disadvantage to apply it to attack rolls. If the GM also applies it correctly as a bonus to AC, the player ends up double penalized. The rules are clear that it's an AC bonus, and PFS is supposed to be by the book; we shouldn't be using house rules that flip it into an attack penalty.

Liberty's Edge

It's harder to make that error when the player makes it explicit (as Pau did). I've seen it done both ways in PbP, and as long as everyone is aware of how it's being handled I haven't encountered any issues.

Sovereign Court

Female LG Gnome Paladin of Iomedae 5 | HP: 44/44 | AC: 24 23 (13 12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMD: 18 17 (16 Fl) | F: +12 +11, R: +9 +7, W: +10 +9 | Init: +2 +1 | Perc: +1, SM +4 | Speed 15ft | Active conditions: cloak of resistance +2, belt of incredible dexterity +2, nexus crystal, protection from evil

I recognize that is often true. However, it's going to be missed sometimes, and why introduce the risk? It's a house rule (or house custom, however you want to phrase it); PFS doesn't allow that. It's hurt players at tables I've GMed before (not on purpose; I only noticed it after the fact). It just seems like a bad habit to apply unnecessary penalties to your own rolls; I've never understood why players would do that.

Pau takes a 5’ step into the now vacated square and flurries at the creature, for what might be the last one of his life. He uses a ki point for an extra attack.

Flurry with Power Attack 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Pau, desperate, channels his inner tiger. Crash! Bang! Pow! (or is that Pau), one strike after another hammer into the horrid golem, rocking it. It's sturdy construction saves it from some of the force of the blows, but not all. Not all, and not enough.

damage:

Blow 1: 14-5=9
Blow 2: 12-5=7
Blow 3: 10-5=5
Blow 4: 14-5=9
#3 not a crit (no surprise there)
#4 is a cirt, so extra 14 damage.
Total-> 9+7+5+9+14=44!

With an obvious target in front of it, the badly damaged robot tries to finish off the irritating monk.
blat: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
ouch: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

The first blow hammers home...
blat: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
ouch: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
But the layers, and layers of enchantments on Pau manage to deflect the second...

Should we do the same with Tere and Ny'a now, so Ny'a can keep her conduit to Iomedae's grace funneled into Pau's lower back? If so, is Tere going to still try to get on the other side (the failure still bounces him back to the square he's currently in, which is still just a move action), or just do the swap?

Pau keeps up his flurries at the creature, using another Ki point for an extra attack. He smiles as he does so, knowing that whether he succeeds against the golem, he might have weakened it enough so that his friends could finish it off and survive.

Pau smashes the golem twice... whoever made this one did a good job, as its clockwork keeps running, even as a spring bounces loose. And then Tere emerges from hiding, slashing around the corner.

With a final Whhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it falls apart into a pile of cogs, gears and springs. And Halberds. There is another pair of them one from each of the defeated golemsn.

I thought you were done for there for a minute

Can we still hear mechanical noises from elsewhere in the maze? Also, if Tere acted before Pau, would Pau have needed to spend a ki point to finish the golem?

Tere slumps to one knee, panting in exhaustion and relief. "I don't know if we can take another fight like that."

There is no obvious sounds of clockwork at the moment.

Between people delaying for movement and everything else, I typically have people take actions in order of posting unless they have specifically delayed for a known purpose. That said, you are running on empty at the moment, so if Pau would like his ki back, he is welcome to it.
