Hello! Welcome to my run of SFS 4-06 Combatant's Concerto: Prelude to Revolution for PaizoCon 2022.
Please dot into the gameplay thread and put your information on >SLIDE 2< and >RPG CHRONICLES<, and make sure you have detailed stats and botting instructions in your profile.
I'm generally pretty laid back, but for this convention, we have only six weeks to finish, and at the deadline, I have to report and give awards for whatever you have completed at that moment only. Because of this, I will be botting characters more aggressively during combat, and if there is a decision to be made and the first two people to post agree, I will be going with that.

Hey cmlobue! Glad to be here!
Quick question - when is the official start for this PbP? The sign-up on Warhorn had a date of May 31, so I figured this game wouldn't start (and therefore characters wouldn't be locked in) until then. I'm going to have to re-jig which PC I'm bringing if this game starts before the PaizoCon slots, since I think I need Varuthalla to assign credit to for some games.

cmlobue |

It is always nice to see someone is willing to subject themselves to another of my games. Though I was a bit sad none of you made it into my bounty.
May 31 is the last day we can begin a PBP game - i.e. it has to start during the convention. I assume they can begin as soon as the convention opens, and I intend to do so because of the hard deadline for reporting. However, I don't have an issue with a character being "late for the briefing" because they were finishing up another game, as long as they are there before the convention ends.

![]() |

Sad faces - I've already played the Bounty with all of my lvl 1 PCs :C
Roger - I can work with Varuthalla being late for the briefing! For what it's worth, she starts the convention off at 11 xp = lvl 4, but by the end of Monday the 30th she should be 13 xp = lvl 5, so should be at 5 for this adventure. And, because Varuthalla is all about oddball heavy weapons, she'll have a fancy new black hole cannon :D - pew pew!

cmlobue |

We have about a week to go before starting and still just two players. This is a legal table now. If we do not get any more signups, would you prefer to play the game, with each of you also piloting a pregen, or forget about it?

![]() |

Same, I'm good to go with 2 players and 2 pregens! (Looks like DoubleGold and I are doing the "two PCs, two Pregens shuffle" for both this, and 4-16 PbD for PaizoCon :D)
So looks like we've got two Soldiers, so...probably gonna need someone skillsy, maybe someone magical, and someone talky-talky? Maybe, like, Iseph and Zemir? I'm open :)

cmlobue |

You could just take two copies of Obozaya and see if you can just shoot your way through everything.

![]() |

Don't threaten me with a good time, cmlobue XD

![]() |

I was speaking with a few friends about this game, and they seemed interested in joining - signups were closed on Warhorn when we were speaking, though, so I don't think anyone could, at the time. Anywho - I'll ping them and see! Fingers crossed.
If no one else does join, though - what do you think re: Pregens, DoubleGold? Zemir and Iseph? Navasi and Raiai? All of the above?

![]() |

I'd control Quig.
Edit: Something must be wrong with the pregen PDF package I have, the pdf labeled mystic has Quig and the pdg labeled Mechanic has Quig.
I'd control the Mystic.
Edit: KESKODAI, it has it correct under Mystic all levels.

cmlobue |

I know that HQ locks and unlocks games to prevent last second changes, but since we have 48 hours, I will ping them and see if we can get more people into this one.
ETA: I know I can't see what you see, but I clicked a random PBP table with open slots that I'm not involved in, and it still shows the sign up to play button. I wonder if they did something weird because we have 2+2.
Also, make sure they have a convention badge.

![]() |

Thanks for joining, eddv!! It looks like we'll still need 1 more pregen, after all, though.
DoubleGold suggested Keskodai, which isn't a bad choice (#BestSpaceBugParent is never a bad choice <3). Not to get too meta-game-y, but I'd also like to put forth Navasi or Zemir as good choices. Navasi would have our Social skills covered, and Inspiring Boost to get Stamina Points back is always nice. Conversely, Zemir is also pretty good at talky-talking, plus can cast Charming Veneer and Charm Person if we need more social pressure (and, having someone trained in Mysticism could be helpful.) So - anyone want to make an executive decision? Or, do we wanna vote?

cmlobue |

Everyone please hop over to >SLIDE 2< and add your initiative, perception, and tokens in marching order. (If you need me to make you a token, let me know.) We will start the mission proper tomorrow.

Does anyone have any strong opinions on talking to our marks? Varuthalla actually would be decent at talking to either Tenet or Kavadroz so far: she's got a skitterpal for a +2 talking to Tenet, and she's also got offensive augmentations (natural attacks, to make her more Vesk-like) which I'm sure would be good for the +2 vs Kavadroz. What do y'all think - should Varuthalla just go ham with the VIPs? I don't want to take away a chance if someone else has fewer avenues to participate in the scenario, is all.
Also, I'm thinking of having Navasi continue to Sense Motive on Miyuu next round, and then in the final round she can fill whatever's needed then - sound good to everyone?

Intelligence indicates eddv is maybe out of commission for a short while after PaizoCon, so (and I may be overstepping my bounds here, but) I think you can feel free to bot him, cmlobue.
It looks like famed cop Blartle Doss has great Diplomacy (plus Sidereal Influence for another +1d6) so I would hazard Blartle Doss might want to go try and influence Miiyu for Round 3?

cmlobue |

The scenario did not provide an instant failure/everyone dies condition. More's the pity.

ngl I wouldn't even mind spending the Spacey-Ps to come back from that one! It'd be a hell of a story - what a way for the scenario to end XD
"Frinke snips the blue wire, and none of you live long enough to realize that it should have been the red wire. The Veskarium is most displeased. The end, roll a boon roll" :D
cmlobue |

Everybody got 80 as a bonus last month, and that definitely would have been a good use of them.

cmlobue |

Just got word that we should be rolling for prizes now, so everyone give me an unmodified d20 roll. On a 19 or 20, you get a $15 voucher to paizo.com. Offer expires June 17.
Boon (of money): 1d20 ⇒ 13

![]() |

Boons over Miami: 1d20 ⇒ 5

cmlobue |

Blartle, your voucher roll please.

cmlobue |

Last call for voucher rolls. I need to submit them in 36 hours.

cmlobue |

Holding for a response from Blartle because who he is shooting at matters.

cmlobue |

We are approaching the end of the scenario. If you would like day jobs or anything else to appear on your chronicle sheet, now's the time to mention it.

![]() |

Profession (Weapons R&D): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

cmlobue |

I also note that most of you haven't >SIGNED IN< yet.

cmlobue |

That concludes Combatant's Concerto: Prelude to Revolution. You accomplished everything except fully influencing the VIPS (you were one success short for Teret and Miiyu), but you still did enough to earn both reputation points.
Chronicle sheets are >HERE<. Please let me know if there are any problems. I have reported the game to HQ, and it will show up online in a few days.
I will leave the thread open for a few days for any final roleplay or questions.
Thank you all for playing!

Thanks for running, cmlobue! It was a blast!
