The half-orc leads you back up the passage a ways. He approaches a section of the cavern wall that is particularly dense with the red lichen and passes right through the lichen into a small concealed tunnel. He gestures.

“Kill trolls.”

You could rest in the narrow passage where you are now. Definitely not super comfortable. It is too small for trolls to enter and rather hidden so it’s probably as safe as anyplace else you have seen since commencing your adventure.

Waking from the close quarters rest-No offense Garric, but you need a bath. I'm not sure if cleanliness is next to godliness, but for someone that hates trolls so much you sure do smell like one.

Dwol peers through the protective curtain.

-detect evil-
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Dwol can see that the group is about 30' from the gate but now on the troll side. Two trolls are now stationed by the gate instead of just one. They both are awake. One is watching the approach to the gate that you originally took, the other is working on one of the giant crossbows.

The cavern on this side of the gate opens up a bit, being about 50' across but narrows into a 15-20' passage on the far side. Near the passage on the far side is a crude wooden hut with some sort of tarp or skin that serves as a door. You don't see any sign that it is currently occupied.

It might be possible to sneak down the far passage without the two trolls at the gate being aware but you wouldn't bet on it.

Dwol describes the scene to the rest of the party-What do you want to do? I'm garbage for sneaking, but would prefer not to get swarmed by trolls on both sides. With the hut, my guess is that we will have to face at least three of them here before any more get out of the far side passage. Hal could grease the two on guard and then web off the passage entry to slow down any reinforcements. Chack and I move up to engage the greased ones with Garric on his bow and Hal keeping an eye on the hut.

Prior to all that we should cast whatever magics we need to give us a boost.

I'm not sure it's the best plan, but it doesn't sound horrible. Anyone with alternative thoughts?
