Grog leads the team down stairs.
Downstairs, it is surprisingly roomy, if slightly unpleasantly scented.
The rooms are carved into the sedimentary bedrock. The ceilings the room is reinforced with wooden support beams. Everburning torches line the walls, providing normal light throughout the area.
A single long, lonely stair reaches down into from this room from the upper floor. Near the center of the room stands a broad wooden table surrounded by several chairs. A wooden bucket, a set of brushes, and a canvas kit of some kind rest next to an iron ring affixed to the wall and threaded with a set of manacles. Two passageways lead away from this room, both lined with small
wooden doors on either side.
A guard sits sleeping in the southern corner of the room.

Grog walks over to the guard and grabs his weapon, then taps him with his axe just enough to wake him up.
"We're here for prisoner transfers bub!"
Grog smiles and holds his axe. "Now where's the keys?"

Pietro kicks open a door while the others prepare to head down stairs.
The nearly square room contains eight busts of men and women of Garundi and Mwangi ethnicities.
Meanwhile downstairs, Grog wakes the snoozing guard. "Huh?" he grunts.
Feel free to try either a bluff if you want to actually fool him, or an intimidate if you just want to scare him into providing keys.
Silgil |
Grumpily, Silgil responds, "Keys. We just need the keys."

I suppose you could assume that, but he hasn't gone down yet that I know of. I thought we were waiting upstairs while Grog scouted downstairs. Pietro was gonna smash in the the north door after the wizard and the kitties had a look about the south.
Um. *CRASH!?*

"YOU KNOW I THINK I MIGHT HAVE MADE A FIRST-CLASS ROGUE, GUYS-. GUYS?" Pietro flattens himself out of sight from the new hall's doorways waiting to see if anyone emerges.
"WELL WHEREVER THEY ARE I HOPE THEY REMEMBER THEY ARE DRESSED AS OFFICERS OF THE LAW AND COMPORT ACCORDINGLY AND NOT BRING SHAME UPON THE CORPS."
Anything special, he can see about the doors in the hall (bars, nameplates, etc...)? If not, Pietro waits patiently, out of sight for a little while in the grand hall, ready to drive the first person or thing though the broken door through the floor like a railway spike with his morningstar.

Silgil returns from the east corridor and trudges in the direction indicated by the guard until he gets to the side passage.

He had a flail, a sap and a crossbow.
From up the stairs, the rest of the team hears the sound of Pietro picking on more defenseless doors.

Grog heads down the cell filled corridor. There is another corridor that branches off to the right, with stairs that lead downward to some type of chamber that appears at first glance to have torture equipment in it. The faint sound of whimpering can be heard from there.

Assuming they are not solid doors or something :) I've moved Grog's icon into the corridor with Silgil.
GM Aerondor |
Yeap, those doors are solid. Likely some type of feeding or viewing slot in the door. Most of the cells are occupied by assorted people.

Since he is unable to open the doors, Silgil tries to peer into the slots in the doors.

Fortunately it is within his clerical powers to be self-marinating.

Grog slowly advances down into the horrid room.
The bright lighting in this wide chamber highlights the gruesome experiments and tortures performed within. Several broad tables have manacles affixed to either end to restrain struggling subjects, and dark, sticky residue cakes a pair of broad stone basins.
