G’day Players,
The official NostalgiaCon end date of March 6 is rapidly approaching.
It’s possible we will be done by then, but if not, we will only be a few days late. If this is of concern to you, please let me know and we’ll work something out.
🐸
Online VL Tad, the Lickin’ist Hero this side of the Kaava Lands has made the following request:
“Each player (and that includes the GM) should roll a D20 to see if they win a boon; a 19 or 20 wins, winners need to roll 1d2 to see which boon.”
And who am I stand in the way of Boonage Rolls!
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Sorry, NO RE-ROLLS on Boons and I don’t know what the two Player boons are.

Daniel Boone was a man, yes a biiiiiiiiiig man!: 1d20 ⇒ 1
if throwing axe hits the tree: 1d2 ⇒ 2

@GM: I believe you backed the Hezrou into solid stone; I've increased smoke transparency so that you can see the grid clearly.
PS: I'll hold off on Skivven's AoO in case you want to retcon your post.
| Yours is mined |
Yep, appears I did ;)
I'm not going to retcon -- the Hezrou lost its SLA.
I know it's with hindsight -- which is not ideal for GM transparency -- but I'll also say, knowing its back was against the wall, the demon would have tried casting the SLA defensively to avoid any AoOs.
End result is: carry on! :)

Blind-Fight is a really good feat for a melee flunky. Being able to pick it up on a summon when needed is just extra thick gravy. :)

@Xilt Sphinx, what made you choose a salt mephit over the other varieties? Glitterdust maybe? I have a melee inquisitor with a familiar and I plan on taking an Improved Familiar mephit, but I'm leaning more towards Water or Earth for easier fast healing. The collapsible bathtub with the Create Water orison means never having to worry about a water mephit's hp :)
Xilt Sphinx

Most of the mephits are really good in my opinion. I choose the salt variety due to the fact that both Glitterdust and his dehydrate ability cannot be resisted with SR. It is a solid choice although there are others that are equally as good.
If you are looking for easy and cheap fast healing I would go with the fire mephit. For the low, low cost of a torch he can have unlimited healing. Also being immune to fire is great (more than compensates for his vulnerability to cold) he has an energy based breath weapon (DR makes most of the other breath weapon attacks useless) and has good SLAs.
I do not know if water/ooze mephits can fly technically. It can be argued that their swim speed replaces their fly and land movement. For this possible ambiguity in the rules I avoid them.

Fire mephit does look pretty strong - but not exactly environmentally friendly for a Green Faith inquisitor :o
I played a water mephit pregen PC in a PFS scenario and it had a Fly speed so I'm confident that's not an issue.
Thanks for the tips :)

Sure thing. I love my minions. :)
There is a fair bit of combat in this scenario. At least we are going to get double duty from our summons today. :)
Xilt Sphinx
|
Indeed but Bralani has SR to overcome. :)
Xilt Sphinx

I really need to load up my familiar with some more scrolls. A scroll of Protection from Evil would negate the Command effect. :)
Nana Grilka

Nana...can you send the yellow elemental up one square? then I can full attck with sneak damage against the drow...
It will depend where the drow is standing after her turn ;)
But also Nana can't give explicit directions to the elementals since she doesn't speak their language. They'll just attack the nearest enemy. If they can get into a flank to do so though, they will, since it is advantageous for them.
Nana should really start prepping Elemental Speech, or carry a scroll or two of the spell.

tongues might be a way...lasts 110 minutes...or a wand...costs a bit, but keeps your spells where they're at...scrolls are cheaper, but long run might be best with a wand. if you only summon one type of creature, an ioun stone might work...the one that grants you a language...5k cost. or retrain a few skill points into Linguistics...
Nana Grilka

Nana's not really the scholarly type :D
She tends to summon the biggest critters she can and just send them in to the fight without any subtlety. I know there are sometimes tactically better options but I try to stay true to the essence of Nana :)
Hey if you need more flank buddies Nana does do mephits.

the barghests that prowl under the Unholy Mama’s kitchen table.
"Oooo, look at the cute doggies! Who's a good little doggy? You is! Come to Nana! Come to Nana! I's got a big cuddle for yous!"

Yes sorry. I am moving them over and then deleting them from this thread. Thanks. :)

a 32 doesn't get in?
A 32 doesn’t get in.
Can my character make an arcana check on his turn to determine what spell is in place here (K-Arcana, DC=20+Spell Level)?
I don’t think so.
The skill description states you have to see the spell being cast in order to identify it.
Nana Grilka
|
That's Spellcraft GM. Knowledge (arcana) can be used to identify a spell in place (DC=20+spell level).

Hmm ... on further digging, the Noble Drow's pre-combat buffed AC IS printed in the scenario.
However, I can't get the figure that is shown for regular AC (the spell in question is shield of faith), though Touch & FF look about right.
I suspect there is a typo, or the designer/developer misinterpreted the '+1 bonus/6 caster levels' phrase in the spell description, or both.
As such, be afraid because we are going to use my math for her AC ;)
⋚ ⋛
The upshot is Rallas's blade hit once, and all the damage went through.
The drow is still up and I will adjust her hp total next time I update.
Sorry about that, people.

The table on the knowledge skills (in fact all skills) are worth a perusal. There are nuggets of useful information for the well-read player. :)
I had a feeling that the AC for the Cleric was a bit too high or that there was something else going on here. Now we know.
Nana Grilka
|
AC33 isn't too hard to hit for a level 12 drow cleric. (Elven) Chainmail +3, buckler +3, DEX 18, Shield of Faith +4, amulet of natural armour +2 = 33. Might need 2 castings of Magic Vestment ;)
Don't see all that many NPCs with such high AC though.
Xilt Sphinx
|
You have a good point there Nana. :)
If it was a 12th level PC character with an AC of 33 I would think it was merely adequate without additional layers of defence.

Such is the way of the Zen Archer. :)

Pretty sure that is the best Bo has done on a single hit. Sometimes the dicebot is very giving.

The link to the Chronicles has been PM'd to everyone.
If there's a problem with this, or you spot an error on your Chronicle sheet, please let me know so I can fix it for you.
Thank-you for playing "Drow of the Darklands Pyramid" with me.
I will leave Gameplay and Discussion open for a few days for roleplay and to ask questions.
Once things quieten down I will close the threads. I'd expect this would be by early next week.

Thank you for another well-executed game YiM. Always a pleasure to sit at a table with you.
This was a fun mission. Well played everyone. Hope I get to play again with you in the future.
