Rayse
I should have thought of this before now, Rayse has invested skill points in disguise but he doesn't have a disguise kit. Can we retcon him buying one? They're 50gp I think. No worries if that's awkward.
GM Wicked Treesa
No problem. It would have been bought before you left. You haven't found anywhere here (yet) to buy something like that.
Rayse
Hi there, oh a Kobold, interesting...
Rendylyn the Red Waif
Could Vormog and Rayse get the patrol schedule, and maybe even some details of the route? I'll add it to our calendar.
GM Wicked Treesa
@Rendylyn: You mean the patrol route of the group that went hunting north of the wall? Or something else?
Posh Stemtimple
Hmm, yes, I'm caught up. Might have stepped on some other narratives. Meh, we all remember the past differently, and this is Posh's story, hahaha.
Welcome Tehs! Nice to have another non-giant in the party!
GM Wicked Treesa
@Posh? Rendylyn had indicated that perhaps you would be taking the spellbook to the Illuminated Scroll to see if you had any better luck? I posted the details of the book in this post in the discussion thread: https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75j5zxo/discussion&page=19#944
She also wanted to purchase a scroll of Obscuring Mist. See this post https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75j5zxo/gameplay&page=28#1394

@Rayse: I got the feeling you're supposed to be more curious about the person arranging glassware when you were exiting the inn.

Ok, I'll get a post in on that.
Rendylyn the Red Waif

Yes, I'll have Rendylyn ask them to investigate.
Rayse
Possibly Vormog, but one door closes and another opens. Will get an in-game post up in a bit.
Posh Stemtimple
Posh approached The Illuminated Scroll in full “Professor Quentilius P. Wedgewimple” mode—hat at a jaunty, utterly ridiculous angle, cloak swirling with embroidered arcane sigils, and an expression that suggested he had spent decades debating metaphysics with dragons.
He swept through the door as though pushed by an unseen current of scholarly importance.
“Master Scaramore!” he declared, arms wide. “At last, Aldencross’s famed bibliurgical merchant! I am Professor Quentilius P. Wedgewimple, arcano-cartographer of the Royal Society for Ley-Line Harmonization. I am presently stationed here to record the intersection of geomantic energies and—golly—your charming local architecture.”
He leaned conspiratorially over the counter.
“And of course, I could not resist visiting the premier arcane establishment in town.”
Without waiting for acknowledgment, he placed a wrapped tome upon the counter with ceremonial delicacy.
“I find myself in possession of this rather exquisite specimen.”
He let Scaramore see the cerulean leather, the brass fittings, the sigils, and the prominent draconic *R*.
“A spellbook of excellent craftsmanship, rescued from unfortunate circumstances. I am considering parting with it… should the right buyer prove worthy.” He gives the proprietor a pointed, assessing look. “And solvent.”
Then, as if the entire matter were secondary, he flicked a hand toward the nearby scroll racks.
“Also, I have need of a scroll of obscuring Mist. Do you have one prepared? And while we are discussing such things, what other scribing talents do you offer? I make a habit of acquiring local peculiarities for scholarly comparison.”
He tapped the spellbook lightly. “So then, Master Scaramore… what say you? How much is this grimoire worth to a wizard of discernment?”
Posh Stemtimple
Oh, crap! Sorry! I screwed that up!
Posh Stemtimple
Ok, villains, take a look at that list of scrolls. Which ones should I grab while I'm here? Or, is there a plan to roll this dude and take them all instead?
GM Wicked Treesa
Of course you plan to kill him and take everything. The only question is when.... Don't want to leave any high value targets to the invading army!
Rayse
Having dinner with the Captain could be an opportunity, and a danger naturally. Still with luck we may hear some valuable gossip, knowing who dislikes who could prove useful. If we're able to stir the pot a little, then they enemy will be distracted and fighting each other when they should be paying attention to the wall.

I think Endure Elements is always good to have. Burning Hands lvl 2 could be interesting. For second level, Callback and Glitterdust are a must I think. Create Treasure Map seems fun and on brand for Posh. Levels 3 and 4 have nothing of use. Maybe Wall of Fire could be used on the archers.

Hopefully I'm reading more into it than I should.
Treesa Lore
Treesa would love to have Callback. But she is an NPC now. Nobody active in the party has a familiar, right?
Rendylyn the Red Waif
When Treesa rejoins the party, she should get her wealth by level of stuff, including whichever extra spells in her familiar she wants.
Treesa Lore
I agree. That's why I was disagreeing with the party buying that scroll.
Once we finish with the Illuminated Scroll, meeting the new character and any nightly discussions are we ready to move on to Day 3? Of course there will be some possible planning based on what Tehs tells you.
BTW, I do intend to speed up your advancement track a bit. There's no way you could succeed with this at level 3. The suggested levels from the module were to arrive here at level 4 and be level 6 when you finish. For those that don't have your level ups already planned, be thinking about the next couple of levels.
Posh Stemtimple
Glitterdust is on my list to take at 4th level anyways, so no reason to get that scroll.
GM Wicked Treesa
Just a bit of heads up. I'm going to be busy for the rest of this week and may not get the maps updated as quick as I'd like. The rush is tentatively over Sunday, but that could change for the holidays. I will try to keep us going....
Posh Stemtimple
The holidays will be rough for all of us.
GM Wicked Treesa
I'm loving reading the discussion in the game play thread!
Also, I updated the map to the first level of the castle, slide 4. Is that good enough? Between the guys and Tehs, I figure you would at least know roughly what each of those rooms are. I should be able to get the rest done shortly. Won't have any secrets marked out of course, or any strategy guide. That is for you to figure out.
Rayse
Re bluff, I get what Rendylyn is saying from a narrative point of view and in the real world I agree that people will be better at detecting lies about certain things than others. However in game the bluff rules give increasingly large penalties for unlikely lies so we probably shouldn't go for something outlandish.

Not trained in Sense Motive I, the NPC, just get a Wisdom roll, with various modifiers:

Do I believe you?: 1d20 ⇒ 9 The modifiers pretty much cancel by my calculations....
"M'Lord? When is the next service? And which priest is your favorite? Father Donnagin is wonderful, but he's so seldom here in town! How do you speak so clearly with a beak like that?"

Slide 5 updated. Some of the information is from Vormog and Rayse. But most is from Tehs.
I should get the 3rd slide updated tomorrow.
Posh Stemtimple
Hey all, I'm still here. Holidays and all! I'll catch up!
Rendylyn the Red Waif
I will be out of town until next Sunday, then should resume my normal posting. I'm temporarily skipping past whatever possible action Vormog gets us into upon finding the tracks at Tehs's place and I'm posting what Rendylyn does on the third day before we gather to explore the inn's cellar.

Thanks for the head's up. And I've been delayed on getting the third page of the fortress up. Sorry. Will finish it soon.
GM Wicked Treesa
Happy Holidaze! But back to it now. Map of the fortress has been completed.
