I will add my voice to those who really enjoy these visual updates! the ones showing old pyramids and old tombs, as well as those showing the vandalism done to the Osiriani statues were amazing!

As other have stated YiM, your efforts help create a more dynamic, immersive and enjoyable role-play experience. I have oft taken advantage of any opportunity to share a table with you due to your diligence in this area. Your descriptions help to create characters and establish the mood. Your graphic additions go above and beyond, and really helps the players to visualize the story.
Thank you for the extra work.

As all demons have some resistance to acid and this will likely negate the primary damage done by Skivven's Acid Splash will the sneak attack damage from the attack still apply?
More generally if a rogue were to attack a golem (or anything with DR) and not bypass its DR with his primary weapon damage would the sneak attack damage apply?
Logically it would seem that you would have to do some damage on the initial weapon attack for sneak attack to trigger. Does anyone have an answer to this based on the rules?
| Yours is mined |
Without doing any research, unless creatures are immune from the damage/energy type and sneak attack damage, I'd be inclined to add up all the damage (including sneak attack), subtract DR/energy resistance and see what's left over.
If a veteran GM who knows the actual rule or handles this a different way wants to chime in, I'll certainly consider your viewpoint.
Skivven Steelwhiskers
|
Sneak and other precision damage ALL add up before DR or energy resistance is applied. The rule that Xilt is confused with is the one that applies to DR negating special effects that accompany an attack such as injury poison, monk's stunning or injury-based diseases (the rule, coincidentally, does not apply to touch attacks, energy damage dealt along with an attack, energy drains or ingested/inhaled/contact poisons or diseases).
Xilt Sphinx
|
That does make sense if the type of damage that Precision damage deals is the same type as the weapon doing the damage. :)
Skivven Steelwhiskers
|
Precision damage is always the same type of damage. It does more damage due to the precision involved.
Xilt Sphinx
|
Alright that answers my questions and makes sense. In terms of the skulls your character is talking about. Has the other characters seen them before?
Skivven Steelwhiskers
|
They're the ones on the slides.
Xilt Sphinx
|
Yes, I see that but I don't recall our characters seeing them or being asked to make a Knowledge check about them. I guess the GM would be a better person to ask who has seen them and when.

if i 5ft step to either of the squares to the SW of my token, would either Tad or Bo be considered as threatening for purposes of Sneak Attack? just want to find out first...
Pretty sure the answer is no.
Tad does not have a melee reach weapon, and spiritual weapon is called out as not benefiting anyone with flanking.
Similarly, Bo is not wielding a melee reach weapon.
| Yours is mined |
adamantine blade as well...was in an earlier post...i might not have poonted it out...that's on me...
Nah. You said adamantine. At the time I didn't put together that max acid damage would not bypass adamantine's hardness, which is essentially the point Nana was making.
All good, mate :)
| Yours is mined |
Welcome back, Tad! Hope you're feeling better.
☀
How could anyone forget Nana?? ;)
Pretty sure Tad dropped Blue and Kernuffle finished off Red.
You can roll some dice to make sure if you like, Bo. If the demons are already down, you can keep all the arrows you fired this round.
I'll sort it out and prolly move us on tomorrow.

Flying: The magical effect within this chamber gives all creatures the ability to fly as if using a fly spell, except their speed is 30' (good maneuverability) instead of 60', regardless of armor or encumbrance.
Please calculate you PC’s Fly skill modifier for me in Discussion (ranks + dex modifier + armor check penalty + 4 for Good maneuverability + Fly skill size modifier) in case you need to make Fly checks.

GM Yours,
Can you provide a few clarifications to the last Gameplay post?
a) Where are the creatures on the ceiling? (unless Bo is the only seeing them?)
b) Did Skivven get shot with a crossbow bolt or was that a miss? Skivven would typically be using stealth as he moves along (although admittedly there may not be cover available everywhere, especially from creatures on the ceiling, assuming they can see through the dark and render the environmental concealment or total concealment from dim light/darkness moot...)
| Yours is mined |
Sure!
A) You can't tell exactly where they are from this distance.
B) It was a miss. You were a random victim, because this is just flavour text to:
- Let you know your opponents are hostile
- Start combat!
Skivven, you can attempt any Stealthy tactics in combat as normal with a 'clean slate'.
The only senses your opponents have are as a result of the environment and what is in their stat blocks.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but I have a giftable reroll (meaning one person at the table can use it, although I can't) that carries a +4 bonus to the roll. If anyone fails a really important save (esp. will versus mind control, etc.), please use it. I also have a folio reroll for me.

Generally the Fly spell add 1/2 caster level to your fly skill but I am assuming that this inferior flying effect does not. :)
Xilt would be at +19 Fly modifier.
Tzleztor would be at +21 Fly modifier with this Flying effect (although he can fly under his own power with his wings at 40' speed with a +17 modifier).

Thanks GM Yours!
Skivven's fly: (+8 usual mod, +4 good maneuverability)=+12
Xilt Sphinx
|
@Skivven - Heroism and small size would each add +2 to your Fly skill. So I would think your bonus would actually be +14 unless you have some sort of ACP that I am not seeing. :)
Bo Goh Twang

Bo has a Fly skill listed at +17. I have been planning the flying carpet for a few levels now. I will post the breakdown when I get home this evening.

@Yours is mined - Do these creatures seem to be generating or are in an area of darkness? It would seem from your drawing that the light level dims towards the centre of an area of the room but the light emanating from the tip of the pyramid should normally illuminate that as well I imagine. :)
Nana Grilka
|
Nana gets +1 category improvement manoeuvrability when she casts a spell that grants Flight (Feather subdomain) but that doesn't apply here. So Nana's Fly check is:
1 rank + 2 DEX + 4 Good MC - 1 ACP + 3 class skill (domain) = +9
(If Nana casts a Fly spell her normal bonus becomes +18)
For completeness, the menagerie's scores are:
Kevin: +10 native bonus (3 ranks + 2 DEX + 4 Good MC + 3 class skill - 2 Large); same +10 bonus using the chamber's magical effect
Kernuffle: 2 ranks + 4 DEX + 4 Good MC + 3 class skill -2 Large = +11

Thank-you for the numbers, High Flyers!

@GM Yours: 'cause I'm a sucker for a good old 3D fight, I've created a new slide (Slide 2) to show the view of the cave from east to west. Feel free to delete if you don't like, as I've saved a copy to my drive in order to help me visualize everyone's position.

@Skivven - We always have the official map on slide 1 so I see no harm in updating your map as well. It is fun to look at. :)
The Fleeting Stinking Cloud has already been dispelled by my character so it will not be a possible impediment to the rest of the group so the GM or you can delete it from your slide after the next update. I really enjoy debuff + battlefield control spells but sometimes they can cut both ways and that is not good. The Fleeting meta-magic feat really solves that problem in a big way. After having one seeker level Monk die in my wizard's Acid Pit and another Barbarian get stuck in (but not die from) my Druid's Aqueous Orb I have considered bringing miniature construction cones and tape to lay down on the battle map. :)
Xilt Sphinx
|
@Yours is mined - The Fleeting Meta-Magic feat is detailed in the Ultimate Intrigue book. It allows a character to dispel their own spells as a swift action and even spells that can not normally be dismissed can be targeted in this fashion. It cuts the normal duration of a spell in half and makes it easier for others to dispel the ongoing magic. It is one of the few +0 Meta-Magic options available and is PFS legal of course.
So this allows a character to cast a spell like Stinking Cloud and dispel it on the same turn with a swift action after it takes effect. This is what Xilt has done so the nauseated targets are left in the clear to be shot at. :)
You left a ? in the game thread so I thought that a full explanation was in order.

GM, I'm aware you are looking for a save from Tad, but unless you specifically request otherwise (which I don't think you have done yet), I will be posting the save as the first roll at the start of my turn, as is standard. To do anything else is an invitation to cheating I really think it's best to not publicly share the details of.

I think it is fair to say that we trust your honesty Redelia. :)
Finding a way around the dice roller is really not too difficult. Personally I am more concerned about its ability to provide randomised results. Of course the same could be said about mass produced dice which may or may not be producing fair results.

I used to have a player who only rolled 19s or 20s... we were playing at a gaming store, and it turns out he had bought 'special Vegas dice' from the store via special order... what a champ! **eye roll**

Yeah, no worries, Xilt. I didn't doubt the mechanics and your application of them :)
I just found it amusing one can jam a 'fleeting but persistent' effect together. Small things amuse goblin minds.
In hindsight, (?) was probably not the best way to draw attention to this. Sorry about that.
🐸
@Tad, I get where you're coming from. Totally trust you either way.
Do what you're most comfortable with, Redelia :)
