Welcome All! Feel free to dot/ninja dot in Gameplay.

TriShadow (Hi, brother!) and grimdog73 still have PCs to select for the game.

Our APL is currently sitting at 9.75, so we are likely to play high tier if that helps your decision.

Being a PFS1e Season One scenario, there is no 4 person adjustment or other modifications based on PC numbers/levels.

I have no problem with you changing your mind about which PC you want to bring, up until the game starts and the VC’s briefing concludes.

Pathfinders,

Here’s a little something to get us in the mood for the game.

Also, please add your token to the Marching order >>Here<<

O_O

Skivven is unsure if he wants to fight her...

PS: note on marching order --> Skivven will often be scouting ahead under stealth, so the suggested marching order only applies if he's not doing that... sorry for the scouting / roguish complications ahead of time... ;)

PS2: Skivven's entire build relies on skills: trap detection, trap disabling, stealth, sleight of hand, escape artist, bluff, and more... he GREATLY benefits from the spell *heroism*. If the party has the capability to offer him this long buff, great! if not, he will definitely invest in getting potions or perhaps even a wand/scrolls of it before we depart, so please let me know! :)

Please allow me to lay out the ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency, while keeping the game moving at a pace to ensure we finish on time.

If you have played with GMs like GM Doom ‘n Gloom, GM PDK, or GM supervillan, I doubt there will be any surprises 😉

Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is.

Miss is always low if a miss chance applies. For example, if there is a 50% miss chance on a melee attack, a result of 1-50 on d100 is a miss.

I roll group initiative and track character actions. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted.

You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence as usual.

If I make a mistake in the current combat round, please let me know and I will try to make it right.

I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws and Attacks of Opportunity (AoO). However …

I like a relatively fast-paced scenario. I find when a game loses momentum, the fun is quickly sucked out of it.

As such, if you do not post an action within 24 hours from when I invite you to post, I reserve the right to take actions for your character.

If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting.

Questions? Just let me know.

There isn't room on the marching order as is for Kernuffle, Nana's Large-sized ape companion. Nana will generally want him by her side or in front of her.

Nana is a negative channeling cleric, but she plays more like a druid in some ways, often summoning critters or buffing Kernuffle in combat. She's sort of specialised in summoning, but has had plenty of adventures where she's not needed to summon at all.

Nana has a special figurine of wondrous power called a "viridium moonbeast" named Kevin - given that Nana already has a 'combat pet' in her animal companion she can only use the moonbeast as a mount. It flies, albeit only at a speed of 20. If she lends Kevin to someone else they can also use it to fight though.

Feel free to suggest spells to prepare. A default load-out is on Nana's sheet. The only spells that I would tend to consider "fixed" are 2 x monstrous extremities and at least one Magic Vestment.

I am just wondering how you avoid damaging your mount or animal companion without the Selective Channelling feat?

A flying mount is just fine. It saves you an Air Walk spell at least and is great for action economy. So it is all win. :)

Blessing of Fervor is good but my wizard always has at least one Haste spell prepared so do not feel obligated to prepare it but it is still very good. You can probably get away with Resist Energy, Communal instead of Protection from Energy, Communal if you like but both are good choices.

You have both Heal and Breath of Life prepared. These are the two spells that we need to have on tap.

However, in the meantime and while we wait, may I tempt you with a freshly purchased scroll of heroism, for your own private spellbook addition? my only request: that you memorize the spell each day for my own use before the beginning of a dangerous infiltration operation... I very rarely use channel as a combat action. There's almost always a better choice. I just wanted to point out that Nana's not a heal-channeller.

The ratfolk quietly and silently slipped out of the gathering place, formulating a new plan. The cost would be higher, but the benefits were too great to ignore, especially considering the level of risk this next mission came with... As he understood it, the Decimverate was now asking him to accompany senior level mages and clerics into a dangerous mission in the Darklands. And judging by the early indicators, these casters may pose an additional risk, so Skivven would need a backup plan, as well...

Skivven will purchase potions of heroism (amount TBD), as I don't believe the spell is one commonly used by the party.

Up to you.

If you're worried about beating the heat, Sothis has mild weather this time of the year -- maxing out at 68F during the early afternoon and dropping to 53F at midnight.

I guess its proximity to the Inner Sea has a major impact on its Winter climate??

HOWEVER, once you are in the desert proper (say 18 hours later) you can expect to be needing those endure elements spells ;)

If you want to buy a wand, i can use it on you...might be cheaper in the long run...

@Rallas: looked into this, and at 11,250 gp I don't think it's gonna be an option for Skivven. I'll look into his chronicles to see if there's a partial charge one available. Other than that, if any of you know another magic item that offers X/day charges of heroism I'd be willing to consider.

@everyone: back from my (insane) travels now, and now getting full campaign notifications (finally) so posting rate should be back to normal now... ;) Knock on wood that I didn't get Covid from that air travel last night... :(

Hmm... looking back at his finances, it is in fact an option! ;)

I will, however, have to depend on some of you for Endure Elements, if that's still on the table... otherwise let me know and I will add a wand of that via PP purchase.

Buying:

Wand of Detect Magic: 375gp
Wand of Heroism: 11,250gp

@Skivven - We should be fine with Endure Elements as a party. With my characters supply of Pearls of Power and Mnemonic Enhancer available to an open spell slot that is a lot of available first level slots cast for free overnight. There are also two full time Clerics and characters with wands so it really should not be a concern. At this point in time consider yourself covered.

In terms of the Heroism spell getting a wand is a good idea as you can use it multiple times/day. A cheaper alternative is of course the Knight's Pennon of Battle for 4500 gold for Heroism 1/day.

yeah, the pennon is a cheaper solution...not the best fit for a rogue though, flavour wise...kind of hard to be all sneaky sneaky with a flag hanging out from your back...although you could have it Japanese style, a sashimono...just an idea...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll stick with the wand at this point. It should last well into the medium and perhaps even into the high levels, and the cost at that point will have become negligible.
