ok
im bringing over the four from the other thread to here. (yes, four. i totally could do super accurate counting to 4 yesterday. ugg)
i need to refresh myself with what i wrote up for this game. shouldnt be too hard. staring at the notebook right now.
We will be starting on the hills to the north overlooking Far Madding.
for the newcomers, you are no longer considered to be from the mirror world. your original to this realm.
Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
you four head over to this gameplay thread. we'll combine there
Dotted and deleted Rizz!
Hey everybody!
edit: Hey Rizz, the game didn't show up on my que, do we need to do something different?
Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
I did get the 'Hogans Hero's' and I'll wager I've seen all of them, and not all of them as 'reruns.'
Navarre is a borderlander swordsman, one of the few 'introverted' characters I'll play. He grew up in Canluum, started working in the mines, eventually became a guard. Volunteered to guard a caravan going to Illian to look for his cousin who ran off with a no-account gleeman to become a Hunter of the Horn. He joined to keep her safe. Sadly she is no longer with us, so apparently, he got caught up in the excitement himself. Though he doesn't strike me as extremely excitable.
His relevant Skills:
Acrobatics + 8
Handle Animals + 7
Knowledge (Blight) + 8
Knowledge (geography) + 8
Perception + 10
Ride + 5
Sword Forms + 8
His fighting style uses a warder's sword two handed, moving quickly.
Is anyone doing a more defensive fighting style to protect the squish casters? I still have enough money left, considering purchasing a breastplate, but I haven't pulled the trigger because I don't want him to slow down. Hmmm, if I don't purchase a breastplate, maybe a longbow.
Any opinions?
Lazar Tehran |
I am a knife and quarterstaff fighter. Bit of a rogueish fellow with a history of odd jobs as well as a Nobles son.
I am Domani and also have lived in Tar Valon. I am an accomplished chef. A Mysterious world traveled youth with a warm smile and even warmer food!
Rashima “Shimy” Deron |
Shimy is a Midlander armsmen and the warder of Talia. She was raised in her family's smithy in the industrial town of Baerlon, near the Mountains of Mist. While having no skill at weaving, despite her mothers best efforts and wishes, Shimy is a talented smith and swordsman. Her size and equipment often see her confused for a man, a mistake she usually doesn't correct.

Yeah I've got Combat Reflexes and Bodyguard
Ceirn |
I am around and looking forward to getting this going again!
I am also wondering if we are all stepping out of the Ways?
Talia Ze'atsev |
Talia Ze'atsev born and raised in Tar Valon and to some degree the White Tower prior to becoming disenchanted and striking out on her own to get in touch with the people that she and the others like her are supposed to be serving. She is thus an Initiate turned Wilder as she follows the path of the great Wheel of Time in true service to the people she has sworn to serve.
Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
So, is everyone on "The Great Hunt's" discord channel?
Navarre is from Canluum a small city located in the kingdom of Kandor, it's main expert is gems, he was working as a guard for a caravan before he joined the hunt and you all.
To update those from the other game:
The original group, all Hunters of the Horn, joined together to head to Far Madding. To purchase a very old book from JAIR'S PUBLISHER which tells the location of Ter'angreal which were lost to time. On the premise that the horn may be hidden with one of those other items.
On the journey there the team stopped at an inn where a local girl gave a foretelling. It's in the above spoiler listed as the 'foretelling' The inn, girl and team was attacked by a gray man. People were lost.
It's my understanding that the game paused there. It was agreed that the team would use 'the ways' to travel to this point and pick back up here.
Does that sound right to everyone?
I decided to keep things simple, that Navarre was just along the whole time. I hope that's ok. I don't know if that's what Rizz intended for everyone or not.
Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
I checked with Rizz on discord, I didn't see one here either.
So, before we get going too far, Niketsu or Tenora, do either of you want/need a warder? If either wanted Navarre as a warder, I would change the last bit of his backstory, and possibly make dex 16 and Str 16 so the bump would take him to str 18.

ok
i gave you guys a bit of a hot mess starting this thing off.
the who's, whats, where's and what nots i failed to disclose.
setting/book?
It is in the first few chapters that we begin our adventure. this is entirely within the "normal" world, not one of the mirror worlds through a portal stone.
How you guys met?
You all meet up in the Ways. where you all were coming from and converged upon, I will leave up to you to make up and publish. So long as you include the dream of the man in the tower being attacked, and heard his plea for aide.
The story so far.
you all have traveled the Ways, and are now upon a hilltop next to the Waygate. while you cannot see the city of Far Madding, you know your south of Far Madding. (free survival check! WOO)
Talia Ze'atsev |
Wow okay this changes some of the pre-liminary history dramatically for Shimy and Talia -- but okay.
Is there a pre-story to all this besides the dream. Like how we gained access through a Waygate and got on the path and ended up where we are?
Also what do you mean exactly by: "You all meet up in the Ways"?

I need to let everyone know a couple of things.
first off. Im not having a posting requirement for this game, to an extent. Im not going to require you to post 5x a week or anything like that. post at least 2x a week and it'll be good.
the reason for this is because there is a few things going on in my life right now that may prevent me from posting for a day or two, or id only be able to make a single post between this game or my ROTR game.
The biggest thing going on right now is dealing with my dad's estate since his passing. I wont get into it here on this website, but i will tell you, just set up a will. Even if it's super tiny and says "i leave everything to my dog rexie", its better than what im going through.
add to my hectic schedule of a set of twins and playing chauffeur and what not to them, these are things that tend to take precedence to posting online. Add to that, my PTSD and me getting the sever case of "F" its and severe depression.
I just wanted to give you all the heads up now so that if i dont post for a couple days (or a week), its not because ive ghosted the group, im just dealing with a lot of stuff and will be coming back.

Here is what I have for it from our timeline
-- In game time, is Danu 4, (Nov 27th our date) 999 NE
-- 5 weeks before the battle of Dumai Wells.
Starting City: Far Madding.
The characters all swore to be hunters of the horn in the Tammaz Square. They then adventured through the westlands tracking leads, but came up short. Something told the characters to travel back to Illian and start over again. They did, they then followed the road north, and were diverted when they discovered a group of thieves following them out of Illian. They found shelter in a small village on stilts called Shetto. There they spent the night in the only Inn, having been allowed to stay there by the visiting merchant, as only Merchants (and associates) with direct business with Shetto are allowed.
While there, they watched a young lady perform in front of the tavern audience. When she laid eyes upon all of they characters, She had a Foretelling ordeal which rendered her unconscious. You know this because a lady came forward to offer aide to the young singer, and the characters discovered she was Aes Sedai. A couple of the characters joined the Aes Sedai in helping the young lady recover from her Foretelling ordeal.
During the night, everyone shared the same dream of a man trapped in the mountains being hunted down by a strange looking crazed male channeler. The Aes Sedai, an Alathea, was also present and she was able to deflect the channelers attack momentarily. The man offered his thanks briefly but begged everyone to go to Far Madding and seek out "jair's publisher". There they would find a copy of the map he used to navigate the Ways to his current location. The channeler broke through the Aes Sedai defenses, and his attack forced everyone to wake up. Alathea summoned you all to her room and asked for you to aide this man. She handed you a rough drawn sheet of paper with odd runes sketched upon it. She told you that there is a Waygate not a half days ride north of the village. It is only two guide stones to Far Madding. The journey through the Ways, although scary, was surprisingly uneventful and carried the characters out safely onto a hilltop overlooking Far Madding.

Sorry for you loss!
FYI I'm a lawyer IRL rather than the dog, say your aunt Ida or something LOL. The dog can't inherit.
Talia Ze'atsev |
And do not worry Talia is a firey woman and has contended with this kind of foolishness ;) before.
So stir away just do not be surprised if you get a lot of the contents all over yourself. Talia has time right now as she is waiting for the heated salt water which will not be overly painful nor will the soaking process. The pain will not come until she has to actually do the cleaning. Still better to set the stage of who is the actual Healer here -- Garl or Talia
Of course it would be interesting to hear what the other Healer present has to say, for as far as Talia knows she is the only Healer here.
Talia Ze'atsev |
Yes the method of doing it in real life eventually is the way you state but I am operating her off of semi-old world methodologies where blood letting and leeches could still be used as standard medical technics but she has slightly better knowledge than that but nothing equivalent to our modern medicine. So some non-harmful mistakes are added to the mix.
Also keep in mind an Aes Sedai most likely would not even use mundane medicine since it is quicker and just as easy or even easier to use the One Power to just heal it. As such why learn regular slower perhaps iffy technics of healing when you can do more effectively by using another means?
Again as for the draining and cleaning and maggots yes but she wants to get the current flesh saturated with healing salts prior to opening things up and draining it. Sort of like applying a disinfectant and perservative to the current living flesh prior to cleaning it and then use the maggots on what is left. Then soak it once more for good measure before applying honey and covering the wound.
Further this of course has the added benefit of not propogating flies from those maggots as they will eventually die from the salt residue. Of course it has the con that more maggots are needed than usual as well but maggots are plentiful since flies are as well and she can do a minor Weave to either find some maggots or attract flies to produce some or both.
Note I have her trying to use her Weaving more on the down-low so-to-speak. That way those not in the know would not easily deduce she is even using magic at all. Further these mundane technics would be technics she could share with other mundane healers along with the explanations of why.
So kind of mixing modern day medicine with old world medicine in a sort of blended and yet accurately effective method.
Talia Ze'atsev |
I agree with Navarre I would be interested in hearing that story because usually if you are facing a Warder you are also facing an Aes Sedai and while the two are not always the nicest folks in the world -- they are kind of looked on as the arms of justice to a degree in many areas from my understanding.
So very curious to hear the story you have in mind for this...
Talia Ze'atsev |
Okay but how did he get into a fight with a Warder where it did not involve an Aes Sedai? And why? Also it sounded like he has done this more than once?
Oh and do not feel like you have to answer that here and now, feel free to let it out in story mode if you like. I just find it a curiousity and conversely maybe it does not have a solid explanation. As it obviously is not an out in the open shared fact but it is an interesting story hook should we encounter one of those Warders later on.
It is sort of like Mychel losing only one leg to a set of wagon wheels, I, the player, am still trying to figure out how someone falls down and only loses one leg and not both. I am sure its possible just does not seem probable, and yet it is what it is and I am okay with that. Eventually I will either leave it be or figure out something that makes sense to me.
Lazar Tehran |
I was thinking He found himself in the wrong part of the tower at the wrong time as one. And well had to defend himself before the details were hammered out.
Say a younger 16-year-old Lazar, walked in on a sister a scream ensued, and well her Warder jumped into action and he well had to defend himself with the closest thing a Fancy stick. The same one he has now!
All was forgiven and well Lazar has a unique relationship with an Aes Sedai. I am thinking of a Blue or Green. Maybe a Grey.
Could change it to an Inn or whatnot elsewhere but The whole thing screams interesting.
The other idea is more or less Lazar in a city is trying to make a quick bit of coin. Sees a wealthy lady, and thinks the way she is going is gonna put her in danger, I can offer my services for a fee to protect her. W
He creeps along, and listens to some toughs come in and confront her. He plans to spring into action and when he does is mistaken for a thug. He holds his own for a minute against an agitated Warder and even takes a wicked series of cuts before The sister stops her Warder and they talk. Lazar speaks plainly about his intentions and after some weak healing and some money is allowed to go on his merry way. With a bit more coin and a bit more wiser.
Both are fun options, both will give him some good stories and scars. The first Gives him an Aes Sedai he knows aside his sister, the other a fun tale to tell.
