I am in.
Niketsu Sedai |
Kunala, I apologize for any offense or mistaken assumptions on my part. As I said, we are all here to have fun, and I find such mishaps are best put behind us.
As for the whole secret thing, the information was not the issue, but rather how the interaction came about. I had the impression that details were being altered to cause the secret to come out earlier than intended.
Obviously, Niketsu's ability to channel will be exposed at some point, as will her status as an Aes Sedai. However, she has noted that people's opinions of Aes Sedai vary widely, and contrast strongly with how they are regarded in the borderlands, and so has decided to play that particular fact as close to the chest as possible.
Note that nothing she has said is a lie, as she bound by the three oaths. If I make any mistakes in that regard, it is my mistake, as Niketsu should be incapable of lying.

... we are all here to have fun...
Strangely enough, I believe this statement to be true.
I talked with Rizz in discord for a period of time last night. I felt like things were reasonably worked out. But I've sat here, on and off, for the last eleven hours trying to put a post together. Basically dreading.
The game hasn't been fun for a long time. Part of it is the limited character I put together using the stats we rolled. I didn't think it would be an issue, but I've not gotten attached to him. The poor stats indicated I should select a high charisma class ie noble. But it's not really a WOT heroic class, not when you think about what makes WOT WOT. It's a support class, I normally don't play support classes, instead I prefer frontliners or Rogue-like characters. So I've struggled with finding Kunala's voice.
A large part of my frustration has been trying to put together quality posts like Rizz asked. Not having a clear personality for my character, nor having a lot of 'in game' discussion to bounce off of, has made writing posts difficult. Normally if I feel my character has a weak personality I develop it in game, posting often and regularly which helps develop that character. I feel like I'm pulling teeth to get a quality post up, generally waiting days for enough fodder to feed the ideas. Waiting that long between posts has made it difficult to get a good feel for the character and the game.
Sadly, I've let these things, and others, frustrate me. I've PM'd with Rizz regularly, and I feel my communication with him has been open and honest. But when I'm frustrated enough to argue in game, or demand another player post, normally it means it's time to move on before I say something I'll regret. With that in mind, I'm going to step away from the game. I wish everyone one good luck and good gaming.
Rizz please place Kunala in the inactive/previous players.
Morel |
I started a new job last week, so that has limited my available time for posting to mainly just evenings for the foreseeable future, but I think 4 posts a week is doable, so long as things are moving along.
Very sorry to see you go Kunala.
Ceirn |
I am sorry to see you go Kunala. Take care.
Adroushan |
Apologize to the table. I am finding it increasingly more difficult to keep current with my games. Having only my phone to post with is really a drag. I am in process of re-procurring my computer once my wife returns from home.
This accident has really disrupted my daily life and nothing is simple or easy these days.
I say all this just to ask for your patience during this time. I am NOT dropping any of my games. I enjoy every one of them. I enjoy all my fellow players and DMs.
Thank you all for allowing me this platform for gaming!
Now if only I could find a Cleric around here....
Naja "Thunderwave" din Jahl |
I'll post when I get home Rizz. That way I can look at my books for reminders.
Sorry to see you go Androus hope you are up and about sooner then they expect

It's been a month since i made the "4x a week requirement" statement. And while postings have gotten more frequent, overall, everyone is only hitting a 3x a week posting rate. And, to highlight another issue, today is wednesday apr 6th, and my last post was apr 1st answering knowledge check requests. Aside from Ceirn, no one has posted anything.
I am going to do two things.
first: im putting this game on pause.
second: im going to open a recruitment for a second, parallel game. It's going to have same plot line, same locations, same everything, except it'll be on a mirror world. My idea is that i think we could split the players from here into two groups. A slower group (2-3x a week posting rate), and a faster group(4+ a week posting rate). each group would be 4-5 players, if we get enough people. This'll allow Tenora/qstor an opportunity to join in and get playing, plus i may be able to convince Luce to join up as well.
So while i create the recruitment thread and get some interested players together, This game will be on pause until this is resolved.
Why am i doing this? cuz, i really really do think that this campaign that i came up with is a really good campaign. I think you, the players, will have a lot of fun going through the adventure and exploring the realm.

Hello!
I have been having difficulty not having Adroushan run away from 2(!) Female channelers!
I would like to continue in your campaign, but I would like to create someone a bit different...lol.
I have read the WoT series a half dozen times (more books 1-8) and I just can't see a male channeler staying around! Especially prior to the Black Tower being around a few years!
Ceirn |
Or it may fall out that the male channelers are in one and the females are in the other.
Ceirn |
I have also tried to a void stuff. I am fairly sure the players have considered why they would travel with us as female channelers when they found out. But it could go bad very fast.
Niketsu Sedai |
Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with the current pace, and splitting things up will only hurt both games. Trying to push things when they are not happening is often just setting yourself up for disappointment.
I have been down sick with covid, and as everyone at home has had it meant not much time for anything, so for my part, I apologize.
My feeling has been that the lack of an internal inertia in the game has been organic; that the players are not yet sure what is going on, and there does not appear to be any stakes on the table for anyone, except perhaps their individual secrets. The foretelling has been an interesting teaser, but it has not given us any signal of something that needs to be done, or that we are the ones that should be doing it. I think that once the team finds their purpose, and buy into their mission, the pace will increase on its own.
When it comes to mixing male and female channelers, I think it is a fun detail. All that needs to happen is to keep the group from being able to take anyone to Tar Valon until the amnesty is announced, and then any Aes Sedai in the group will be in the same bind as the tower; unable to do anything about it for fear of upsetting the dragon.
Naja "Thunderwave" din Jahl |
Yeah Najas purpose is to get to the Tower.
Not sure what to do with Naja. But she wants to learn and yet reluctantly.
I'm not sure what sure will do now?
Naja "Thunderwave" din Jahl |
Also I think the sudden loss of Androusan out defacto leader kinda left a whole somewhat. Not sure how to replace it though
Adroushan |
It's not just the channeling. I am also having a difficult time reconciling his continued involvement because his charge was incinerated...lol.
Combining the two seems too much to justify him staying.
I apologize if it causes any issues.
Niketsu Sedai |
I don't like the idea of splitting up the group into two. I don't think I can commit to the pace of the 'fast' group, and I think the 'slow' group will inevitably become the forgotten stepchild, and it therefore holds no interest for me. I think the only way to save the game is as one cohesive group.
Naja "Thunderwave" din Jahl |
It is an Interesting Dynamic with all the Channelers. Though we need non Channelers aside from Moral.
That being said we are in a spot where we as players can reassess our characters and see if we want to continue forward with them or change them if we think it will work out better.
Honestly, I know I am not sure where I want to go with Naja. If Adroushan isn't sure where he lies in the grand scheme we could figure out what we want to do and let Rizz do what he wants with us down the road, while we or any others introduce new characters?
Morel |
My apologies as well. I was under the weather earlier this week but had a post half-written Monday, but when next I checked the game was paused, and I've been playing catch up at work since.
I do agree with some of what the others have said. A part of my generally slower posting has been a combination of my not really connecting very well with Morel and also not being sure what we are doing except in a vague sense. The character who brought us together and the one ostensibly with the contacts and the plan left the table, and I'm kind of not sure what is going on or what direction to go at the moment.
Anyway, if there is a general reshuffling of characters I might be one of those, exchanging Morel for something else. Will have to think on it and see what others do.

You know, this may be an interesting idea. perhaps the characters the people have created just arent what they expected. perhaps the interactions between characters, isnt generating that oomph.
And given the interaction with aes sedai and male channelers, especially at this time of the series, it does make sense that the male channeler players are a bit reserved for portraying their abilities.
Along with this, Kunala was kind of the defacto leader of the group. I kind of thought someone else would step up and be like alright folks, we got this situation with these foretellings and this weird shared dream we all had. we should do X
so, to be clear
adroushan is kind of floundering since he lost his money-bag, and is hesitant to do much due to being a male channeler
ceirn is hesitant to do much (unless he's out scouting) because he's a male channeler
Naja wants to go to the white tower, reluctantly, but is, at this moment unsure what to do. but also recommends that everyone reexamines their characters
tenora informed everyone that she isnt a red, and would be cool with male channelers.....ish. and IRL, is being super patient waiting in the Ways.
Niketsu, is IRL sick with covid, and is fine with the group pace, and enjoys the idea/intermix of male and female channelers.
morel hasnt responded yet. dang it morel! you ninja'd me!!! Morel would like to try a new character as well
Ideas:
1) i'll put this to a vote. split up into two groups? or stick with one larger group? You can either state it here, or PM me.
2)no matter how the above turns out, I allow players the opportunity to create new characters if they feel that their current character just isnt working out the way they thought it would.
3)I move the timeline to sometime in the beginning of book 6, just after the creation of the Black Tower/ or when Rand creates the ranks of Asha'man. This would allow male channelers to move about a little bit more freely. I dont have my notes immediately near me, but aside from one adventure being tied to a major event (oasis upon the plains, caught between the white and the shine; the water tastes of iron and flows red, the Dragon's answer for whom the bell tolls) the rest of whats planned out can be applied to events after this middle point. Granted it would change the great hunt application, but i think i could work out a way how everyone meets up. or we could drop the great hunt basis all together.

My vote is to stick with one larger group. I'm happy with Niketsu as my character, but I feel like I do need more time to discover her motivation. The one reason I might ask for is that if my warder's player is gone for good, that we make him just her traveling companion, and not actually bonded, so she could potentially game a warder in the future.
Morel |
I think I would also lean towards one larger group, generally speaking.
Also, I am thinking about replacing Morel. It might be a little early to tell for sure, but I'm having trouble connecting with him thus far.
I think we will have plenty of channelers as is, so I could bring back Warrick as Niketsu's warder if her warder's player has left. Or it Tenora would like a warder, could also do that.
Or if those are already covered, and if we do move the timing to a later book, I could also play an Aiel called by the wolves after going into the wetlands.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
dagnabbit morel!!!! stop ninja'ing me!!!!!
ok. here's what we got after this weekend.
1) niketsu wishes to keep her character.
2) Naja wishes to make a different character.
3) Morel wishes to make a new character.
4) niketsu wishes to keep the group together and continue forward.
I do need to know if you all would like to have the book timeline moved to chapters 1-12 of book 6. Or if youd like to stick with this current date/time.

I think that I will bow out actually. I am starting my own PbP for beginners of PF2e soon. I would like to concentrate more on them.
I appreciate the inclusion Rizz! Thank you! Perhaps, a game in the future.

Alright dude! Have a good one! Take care! Beware them attics
Ceirn |
I am all in with the same character. I do see myself as more Aiel Warrior then Channeler which is why I have not channeled more, but I would prefer not being afraid that the female casters will both turn on me in the middle of a fight. So jumping forward would be nice.

we can remove the bond. that's fine. Do you see janus participating in combat? or just being a lackey?
Niketsu Sedai |
I'd rather stay with the current timeline; it is something different, and allows us to operate in the world of WoT, without yet being overwhelmed by the events of the books.
Regarding Janus, unless the player re-emerge, I was imagining he'll be writen out, maybe escorting Naja to the tower.
