Few a few, well maximum tens of good advice, Sergeant Drussem and Ozaril leap into the fray, while Akrag and Gintka outflank the skeletons. After a brief skirmish, the enemies are defeated.
The hobgoblins find on one of the skeletons a ring of the ram which they give to you. More treasure :) Good job, a success
The Iolite Squad glad of their doings push further.
A ruined, rotting campsite occupies the east wall of this large chamber. The hobgoblins spend a few minutes picking through the wreckage. Sergeant Drussem says, "This must be where those dwarves made camp. A long time ago, it seems."
After a few minutes, Ozaril exclaims, "I found something!" He lifts a small wood chest still largely preserved, and the hobgoblins open it to find ancient scrolls, a dusty tome, and a few miniature stone statuettes.
The hobgoblins, disappointed at first, begin to analyze found items.
You can help the Iolite Squad with their reports by serving as scribes, which requires a Society check or a relevant lore ;)

Well, this time you felt like you were not that much focused, yourself. However, following your advice, the hobgoblins carefully translate the ancient dwarven texts and discover clues about when the site might have been constructed. In the chest you found enough treasures to make it worthwhile to carry.

Thick cobwebs and hundreds of spiders choke this passage. "Our weapons will be no use here," says the sergeant. Gintka steps forward, already mixing a few vials of smoking liquid eagerly. "This should clear them out."

With a bit of sulphur, holly ash, and quickly found wet wood the smoke is exceptionally effective. Crit success!
Gintka creates smoke that billows along the floor and creeps up the walls. She includes aromatic herbs that are harmless to humanoids but noxious to arthropods, which swiftly disperses the spiders. The lingering fumes stick to your clothing.
Rough stairs rise to the west, and a wide passage leads east. Thick webs cling to the walls and ceiling. A loud scrape and thud alert the Squad to the presence of something beyond the east passage. "Wait here," says the Sergeant, who signals her squad to stay on their guard as they press forward. One of them shouts a curse as a sharp twang echoes through the ruins—part of the ceiling above, concealed by webbing, suddenly collapses. The hobgoblins rush forward, dodging the cascade of boulders that fall and block the passage.
As you move to clear the rubble you hear Seargeant Drussem yell "Enemies! Fight them back!". In that moment you hear as well some ominous sound

Arlo happily walks along as the team disperses the creatures. Then, when the giant enemies appear, he recoils in fear. "By Gozreh's dripping beard! That's a biggun!"
He immediately casts a third-level Calm Emotions. A soft breeze envelops the black spider, lulling it hopefully into a calm state.
Black spider may make a DC 21 Will save.
Arlo then has a moment to think what these spiders typically do, and whether they have any special abilities he should know about.
Recall Knowledge. I presume Nature? It's +11.
If I can't properly target the spider, Arlo will instead move first so he can cast the spell. Preferably without going closer. It's difficult to see, but I've made a pink scribble of the intersection I'd like to target.
Everyone else: Please don't attack Black until the GM rolled its Will save, otherwise you might break the spell. If it fails, I'm planning on keeping it sedated. Or I cast the spell after Teja and Zabu attacked, that's also possible.

Btw. I almost wondered do allies know the result of the spell? Would they know that the spider passed the check? Would they understand the spell at all even?
Yeah, that's one of the uncertainties that's never been cleared up. I personally consider that meta-knowledge, not something our characters would know, but something the players would/might know. Technically, they're not secret checks, but on the other hand, the GM's side of the battle is a black box the players don't know anything about. Usually, results of saves are immediately clear (you manage to evade the Fireball, or you don't, and so on), but with mind control that's more difficult. I'm perfectly fine with them being completely unknown information until the creature's turn, because then you can see how they react. Especially with Calm Emotions, where you see whether it shrugs it off completely, looks a little drowsy, or completely tame. But I'll leave it up to the GM, I'm personally fine with any decision you make.
Arlo gulps as he recalls that tarantulas have venom and can attack with their hairy bodies. "Spread out! It can chuck its hairs at a group of people!"

Sound burst is a 10 foot burst, so it would have affected Red as well.

Thanks for the healing, Teja!
Seeing Zabu take some heavy hits, Arlo moves past Pink, Red, and Black. Triggering potential Reactions. If they grab me or anything, I'd obviously want to do something else after this.
Now safely behind the heavy hitters, Arlo starts casting a spell. More soothing winds envelop Zabu, causing his open wounds to freeze shut.
Two-action Heal: 3d8 + 24 ⇒ (7, 7, 2) + 24 = 40

Teja puts some bandages on Zabu, who does look a bit better due to that. Then she does the most beautiful feint that day. The giant spider is completely thrown off by that, but her strike is too far off target. Great feint and horrible hit
Arlo moves past the others, he sees the spiders following him with all of their eyes, but they let him pass... this time
He sends magical energies to heal Zabu's wounds.

Jiki thinks he may have made a mistake trying to overcharge his last spell, so tries casting at the normal level - after a small move to get a better look at the target zone.

Same intersection, so burst will hit all three enemies and no allies.

Shield is a cantrip and I'm level 5, so the cantrip rounds up to level 3. It has hardness 10, so that absorbs all the damage. Hehe, this is the first time I get to use the heightened Shield.
"Thanks Shylye!" Manny's magical blessing shatters upon the lurker's jaws. "Now, time for the counterattack!"
Manny reaches down to pick up his whip, and concentrates on his >Spiritual Weapon< to hack away.

Zabu went on autopilot for a bit. Must have been from the pain then the abrupt healing. That'll leave a person light headed.
Well...that and the poison...his tongue feels numb and his fingers won't quite do what he wants them to do and he feels off balanced. Fortunately, it doesn't take much dexterity to make a claw. And it's mostly strength involved in twisting a spider's legs and head to leave it incapacitated and exposed.
Athletics (Grapple): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
He rips into the spider with his claws then.
Claw MAP: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 14 - 4 = 12

◆ Grapple, that's vs. Fort DC for the spider. On a success it's grabbed (making it flat-footed and immobilized). Zabu has the Titan Wrestler feat.
◆ Stike (Claw)
◆ Strike (Claw)

GM, I think you missed the 15 damage on Teja in your initiative order? I'll fix that. :P
"No worries Zabu and Teja, as long as I'm here, I won't let you die!"
Arlo quickly gets out his medicine kit and starts applying bandages to Teja while she's busy maneuvering around the big spider.
Battle Medicine, DC 15: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
Healing for Teja: 4d8 ⇒ (4, 3, 8, 1) = 16
With that taken care of, Arlo focuses back on the big spider. He starts casting a spell, and warm winds suddenly gather up around him. The winds gather up and compress into a ball of fiery energy, and Arlo then hurls it at Black. Black gets cover, that's a +1 to AC I think.
Spell attack roll, Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 1 = 21
Don't think that'll hit with cover, so I'll spend a Hero Point. I want my level 3 spell to work!
Spell attack roll, Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 1 = 13
Sigh. Should've used my first action on that, instead of Battle Medicine.

"Thanks Arlo" smiles Teja.
Seeing Zabu wrestling with the giant spider Teja plunges her rapier into its exposed body again and again.
If the grapple doesn't succeed then she will feint first, but I'll do the attack rolls here.
attack vs FF: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 1 = 30
damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 1 = 6

Second attack

damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 1 = 8

Third attack
attack vs FF: 1d20 + 15 - 10 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 15 - 10 + 1 = 25
damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 1 = 8
sneak damage if FF: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
Maybe all doubled if crit, plusdeadly?: 1d8 ⇒ 3
"Arrghhh.... just die..."
Then ignore that third attack, as her first action would have been to feint
feint: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
"I did _not_ sign up to study spider anatomy."

Red -5 and -6 => -11
Black -6 Pink -6
Manny hits the lurker with his first magical attack but misses with his whip. But the creature falls on its knees and then on its face. Red -13 and dead
Arlo patches Teja and sends a massive ball of energy ... which passes both spiders and flies into the corridor exploding with a great noise. Heal on Teja and missed spell :(
Zabu attempts to grapple the big spider, but there is something to its eight legs and massive body that does not allow him to get a good hold. His both claw attacks miss.
Teja makes a feint and strikes the spider with her rapier, her second attack miss. Feint worked and that attack is a crit vs ff spider. And since you are lvl 5 (weapon trick) => you apply your rapier crit specialization as you attacked vs ff => the spider is flat-footed till the begging of your round... Black -31
