Sturmvanger |
Sturmvanger sizes up the vesk guards and contemplates how to fight in such tight quarters. He tries to remember what that ysoki trainer taught him back in his gladiator days on Triaxus.
Rilynn Rae |
Rilynn replies to Seggas. <The bigger, the better. As soon as you spill that drink we'll slip over to the door. With any luck we'll make short work of it.>
Twila-5 |
I'm assuming Rilynn is sharing the other half to all these conversations with us. If I'm wrong, let me know.
Twila-5 tugs on Rilynn's arm. "Well, if you're not going to dance, at least let me check something on your datapad."
Computers: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Rilynn Rae |
Yes - sharing with all.
Rilynn takes a sip of the drink put in front of her and slips her datapad to Twila-5.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas tries to hide her smile and has to put a big stifle on a maniacal laugh as she gets the go ahead to let loose. She looks over at Sturm with a glance.
Seggas while planning with Sturm, leans over to Morvuul and whispers into his ear. "I'm going to start a distraction with Sturm, slipping him a foaming tincture, but can you raise hell over it? accuse the bartender of trying to poison me/you/your bodyguard?"
Seggas takes her drink, and hopefully when noone is looking, drops a few drips of some green liquid out of her left ring fingernail. "Oh, Bodyguard, could you test my drink for me? I don't trust these people here."
Medicine: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Sturmvanger |
"Of course, Madame, it would be my pleasure," Sturmvanger says, loudly, giving everyone around him an accusatory scowl before taking a drink.
The dragonkin starts gagging and clutching his throat as his mouth fills with frothy foam. He slams his big hand down on the bar repeatedly.
"Water...water!" he croaks.
Rilynn Rae |
Rilynn extricates herself from the scene as soon as Sturm begins to draw attention, moving casually but expeditiously in the direction of the fire escape.
Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Twila-5 |
And of course, Twila-5 follows.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Ouch. Can I do a T-shirt re-roll? If not, you have my permission to make her trip and fall flat on her face. Maybe if her nose starts bleeding it'll add to the mayhem.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas gives a look at Sturm and then gives a scream. "Somethings wrong with him! There must have been something in that drink!"
She rushes up Sturm, surreptitiously taking check that he is okay, before shaking the dragon born and asking, "Bodyguard, BODYGUARD are you okay? What's wrong! Who poisoned you?"
Bluff (Aid if Morvuul is going to act): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
phaeton_nz |
Well the music may still be going but the dancing has stopped. A circle forms around Sturmvanger etc and a voice from the back says "Let me through. I'm a doctor". Even the Vesk are watching.
During the commotion Rilynn and Twila-5 make it over to the 'fire-escape' and discover that an engineering check is required to disable the alarm before opening it.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas leans over Sturm and starts to panic, while she mentally reassures him.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, makes a move for the "fire-escape" and attempts to disable the alarm.
Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Rilynn Rae |
ninja'd!
Rilynn arrives to find Cha'mon Cha'mon has already made quick work of the door alarm. She smiles and looks around to see how the distraction is going.
Sturmvanger |
The foam in Sturmvanger's mouth turns bright pink. Surely a bad sign. He relaxes and goes limp as though unconscious or verging on it.
Morvruul the Merchant |
Seggas gives a look at Sturm and then gives a scream. "Somethings wrong with him! There must have been something in that drink!"
"The drink was...wait for it... POISONED!" Morvruul declares. He then points a finger at one of the verthani at the bar.
"It was HIM!" cries the disguised Starfinder. "I heard him complaining about not being allowed to drink on the job and then, as he mixed the bodyguard's drink, I heard him say, 'And I if I can't have a decent drink, then NO ONE CAN!'"
Bluff w/Aid: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 = 17
phaeton_nz |
A lot of shouting starts up until one of the Vesk points a weapon to the ceiling and fires. Everything goes quiet.
The other Vesk pulls out a comm unit and speaks into it. Some patrons decide it might be a good idea to leave.
During the rukusChamon, Twila-5 and Rilynn are able to slip through the door and into the corridor beyond. They can see a row of doors on the other side. Which one do you wish to investigate?
Put your token next to the door you want to go through.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
"The game is afoot my friends." Cha'mon Cha'mon grins and heads for the closest door.
phaeton_nz |
This door is locked. An Engineering check is required to open it.
Rilynn Rae |
"Allow me," Rilynn whispers, eager to help.
Engineering: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
"There could be more vesk on the other side of these doors, and maybe Bogdin himself. Ready?"
Twila-5 |
Twila-5 watches both Cha'mon Cha'mon and Rilynn work their magic on the locks and security system, hoping to glean some tricks she can use herself. Frankly, she's intimidated.
"There could be more vesk on the other side of these doors, and maybe Bogdin himself. Ready?"
She draws her laser pistol and nods affirmatively before casting a quick glance up and down the hall to see if there are any people or security cameras.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, draws his needler pistol and says, "Let's find this Bogdin character and take him down."
Rilynn Rae |
<We're going in,> Rilynn calmly communicates telepathically to the rest of the team.
She opens the door and crouches low, giving Cha'mon Cha'mon and Twila-5 clear firing arcs inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
phaeton_nz |
This office contains several small workstations, a desk, and well-stocked bar. Two doors lie on the western wall, with one clearly being a leftover
relic from a previous renovation. A door on the eastern wall is blocked by an open and empty deep-space storage pod. Two doors frame the northern wall.
No one is in here and Rilynn notices that a painting is set a little too far off the wall, and that by unhooking a small latch, the painting can be swung from one side to reveal an access control panel.
Computer check to hack
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
"Let's see what you have in store for us."
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Morvruul the Merchant |
"I'd like to make a complaint to management!" Morvruul demands.
Rilynn Rae |
Once they find the room is clear, Rilynn closes the door behind them while Cha'mon Cha'mon hacks the safe, just in case security sweeps the corridor.
phaeton_nz |
Cha'mon makes it look really easy as he gets into the control panel and is presented with an access screen that reads:
1) Deactivate control collars on androids.
2) Open the safe
3) Theatrical smoke/fog
4) Strobe lights on dance floor
Another computers check would allow you to remotely activate these functions from a remote datapad.
Rilynn Rae |
Rilynn points to the datapad she gave to Twila-5. "Keep it. This one should be yours."
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
"How about we really get the party started now?"
Cha'mon Cha'mon, prepares to activate all four of the options on the control panel.
Rilynn Rae |
"I'm a girl that loves to party," begins Rilynn, "but as soon as we activate that control panel we're gonna bring the house down on top of us. This room is the first place they'll look, and we're not prepared for that much heat. Let's remote the console to Twila-5's datapad and then check on the other doors in this area. It would be good to get some of the rest of the team with us too, if that's possible. We might have to shoot our way out if we can't find an alternate exit."
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, looks a little disappointed, but he says, "Okay I got it." He then begins attempting to work on connecting the controls to Twila's datapad.
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
He looks up from his work with a look of frustration on his face. "Getting these two devices linked up is not as easy as I thought."
Rilynn Rae |
Forgot that the rest of the group has no idea what's going on.
Rilynn briefs the team telepathically. <We found the control console to open the safe, inactivate the android collars, and cause some dance floor effects. We're working to remote the controls to a datapad. There are other doors in this area and we are bottlenecked if we don't find another way out. We could use support when things get messy. Also, there's more booze in here.>
@GM I have not peeked beneath the shield. Can we assume that the east wall of the room we're in is an exterior wall, and that the storage pod is blocking a way out?
Twila-5 |
Rilynn points to the datapad she gave to Twila-5. "Keep it. This one should be yours."
Twila-5 stills for a moment. "...Thank you!" It may be hard to tell, but she is deeply grateful for the generosity.
Thank you, Rilynn. Twila-5 will be able to afford a datapad after this scenario, so she can return it after this scenario.
She peeks over Cha'mon Cha'mon's shoulder again as he tries to route the access panel to the datapad. After he's fiddled with it a bit, she tentatively asks: "Would this work?" Taking back the datapad, she tries something she picked up in training.
Computers: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"<Sigh> Nope. I suppose we can open the safe first, then maybe use the other options to cover our escape. Where is the safe, anyway?" She begins searching the room for a safe.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
It's probably hidden. --Crap. Could it be in a different room?
phaeton_nz |
Rilynn - you are absolutely correct.
Twila-5 is having difficulty locating the safe while Chamon is having more difficulty pairing the datapad and the control panel.
Meanwhile, on the dancefloor, many of the patrons have decided to leave, especially when one of the vesk fires a weapon.
The two vesk then move through the door they were guarding.
A short while later, they arrive back through the main entrance flanking a heavily augmented and an extremely angry Verthani.
It looks like the jig is up.
Rilynn Rae |
"Good question," replies Rilynn to Twila-5's comment about the safe. The lashunta puts her energy into searching the room for the safe and if nothing turns up she'll try the doors to the north.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
phaeton_nz |
One of the northern doors open up into a more relaxing meeting area. The other door --- oh hang on --- it's the walk in safe. It just looks like an ordinary door and the handle is a dummy.
Meanwhile Bogdin, flanked by this guards, strides up to where you are.
And WHAT in the NINE HELLS is going on here he barks, drawing his static arc pistol and invading Seggas's personal space. Most of the clientele have left.
intimidation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
The bartender nervously backs towards the door.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas stares at the man for a moment, trying not to let a sneer of disapproval show. Ugh, sleezy business man and brash and confrontational. He is the worst.
She sends a brief mental word of warning to Rilynn and Co. that a fight might break out and back is possibly called for immediately.
She then tries to push out tears as she starts bawling. "The bodyguard took a sip of my drink and then started... Started...*sob* foaming at the mouth... He's *sob*DYING!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Twila-5 |
"Oh. There's the safe. I thought it'd be smaller. Geez." Twila-5 is closer to the access panel, so she punches in the sequence to unlock the safe.
Morvruul the Merchant |
"Point that gun somewhere else!" Morvruul cries in disguise. "The bartender is the one at fault here!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Sturmvanger |
Sturmvanger cracks open one eye, looking up at the figures looming over him.
He readies himself, sure that a fight is about to break out.
phaeton_nz |
Twila-5 may have inadvertently saved the Verthani bartender's life by doing that. As she presses the button, the safe door clicks open. At the same time an alarm goes off on Bogdin's wrist comm as he is about to lethally terminate the barkeep's employment.
Inside the safe is the sandstone key you seek and a whole lot of incriminating paperwork on his android smuggling operation.
Someone is in my office Bogdin exclaims. Well they won't get far We'll just have to wait until they come out .... or we'll go in and get them
He then looks down at you lot, pondering. while one of the vesk covers the 'fire escape' and the other covers the door they were guarding earlier. Morvruul's demands are being completely ignored.
Looks like the sticky stuff is about to hit the rotating device. What do you all do now - and should we go to initiatives
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, says over comms. "We got what we came for, let's get out of here."
Rilynn Rae |
Yes, Rilynn automatically relays all messages.
"Can we move that storage pod? We could get out of here that way. Also, since our cover is blown, I promised those androids..."
Rilynn presses the button on the control panel to disconnect the collars.<That's it, you're collars are deactivated. Good luck.> She says telepathically to the two bartenders.
She then examines the storage pod to determine if it can be moved, through force or activation.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, activates the smoke/fog and the strobe lights on the dance floor.
"Now the parties really started."
phaeton_nz |
Unfortunately the pod is bolted, and welded, to the floor.
Twila-5 |
Upon seeing the incriminating paperwork, Twila-5 uses the datapad to document as much of the contents of the safe as possible, then grabs some of the most important looking papers and tucks them under her left arm. I wish I had my backpack with me so I could take it all! Laser pistol drawn and ready, she nods at the others. "Let's go--wait! Cha'mon Cha'mon! Check out that storage pod! I'll cover you!"
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas braces as the weapon gets lowered and then springs nearly out of her skin at the sudden alarm. She glances at Sturm, while broadcasting to Rilynn. <We should probably prepare for combat! I'll give the signal and Sturm give them hell. Rilynn you and your group come busrtins out of the back rooms. Sound good?>
phaeton_nz |
The storage pod is empty
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
"I've been itching for a fight all day. Just give the word. We're ready."
Cha'mon Cha'mon, moves to the door back to the dance floor. He flicks the safety off his needler pistol and prepares for combat.
phaeton_nz |
