Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

APPEARANCE:
Grimoin on first sight presents an intimidating sight, with his polished basalt stoneplate armor and ginormous earthbreaker maul. He takes care of his appearance, keeping his hair and beard clean and braided down. He wears the tabard of the Duskwalker Agents, and the polished gold insignia of the Paladins of Abadar. For some reason, the light seems brighter around him.
PERSONALITY:
Proud and fierce following the tenets of his faith;
Paladin’s code of Abadar wrote:
- I will always protect the innocent, by helping them protect themselves where I can and stepping in personally where I cannot.
- I will always act with honor and honesty. I cannot truly represent my faith if people cannot put their faith in me.
- I respect all lawful authority and understand that different places have laws that I may not agree with, but work for those who reside within. If a law is unlawful, I will work to the best of my ability to show them a better law or way.
- I am a protector of the roadways and keep travelers from harm. No matter their destinations or goals, if they are peaceable and legitimate travelers who harm no others on the road, I will ensure that they pass safely.
- Bandits are a plague. Under my will they come to justice. If they will not come willingly before the law, where they can protest for justice in the courts, they will come under the power of my sword.
- Corruption in the courts is the greatest corruption of civilization. Without confidence in justice, citizens cannot believe in their countries, and civilization begins to disappear. I will root out corruption wherever I find it, and if a system is fundamentally flawed, I will work to aid citizens by reforming or replacing it.
- I am an aid to the markets. I ensure equitable trade between merchants and citizens. Theft on either side is intolerable.
- I make opportunities, and teach others to recognize them. When I aid others, I open the way for them, but will not carry them—they must take responsibility.
Nevertheless his seems older and demoralized after his service in Katapesh, so much that was corrupt he was forced to overlook, even amongst his own superiors in the Duskwalkers. He feels desperately the need to atone, and the long delayed notice that his father had died in the small town of Kelmarane and that Grim had inherited some property there gave him some hope for a new start; a morally clean slate.

Varvara Ulyanova Vladimirovna |

Thats a pretty reasonable Paladin code!
(Much better then Torag the walking warcrimes)
Vivi isnt exactly a law abiding person of firm moral standards, and she has some extremely morally questionable relatives, but they can probably get along.

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

A BRIEF HISTORY:
Born in Kelmarane,
Mother died, no record of why;
Sent to Katapesh, Order of Abadar orphanage.
Grew up, Had calling to the service of Abadar.
His order was commanded by Ismaeel al-Qasim a smooth talking cleric of Abadar.
Assigned to the Duskwalkers as Hospitaller support.
Gained a contact among the businessmen that traded at the marketplace; Sheikh Taaj al-Abdi.
His complaints of corruption making him unpopular, and finding a deed to property in his birth home of Kelmarane, he takes the deal that
Pactmaster Hashim Ibn Sayyid offered,
to leave to go to Kelmarane to find his roots and perhaps find a clean slate.
Along with a deed is a mysterious Electrum Coin that had belonged to his parents that no one can identify.

We are level 4! Soon to be 5th level should you be able to finish clearing the area.... ;)
No Philo Pharynx, don't go!
So we tentatively have a Aquakineticist, Sorcerer, paladin, oracle, fighter, and Bard (Archeologist).
---
Previous Players:
Sassarra the Aquakineticist, hopefully will stay I love her background and how well she fits into the area.
Varvara Ulyanova Vladimirovna, aka Vivi, the oracle of Gorum. I believe.
Auso the Bard (Archeologist).
Aukan, GMPC, warlord of combat: Fighter.
Then a plethora of players that have dropped out and are now NPCs. Changing that right now.
New Players:
Merainaa the Phoenix Sorcerer.
Grimoin Al'Thorrak Paladin of Abadar.
---
Well Grimoin and Merainaa, any suggestions of how you got to the House of the Carrion King? I can come up with lots of options but I was looking for suggestions first. How will you be connected via one of the present players?

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

Perhaps Auso the Bard is the local expert I need to find my family inheritance property, as it may not exist except as an unmarked mound of rubble only locatable by an expert archaeologist. Or perhaps I need to consult such an expert to find out about this exotic coin no one else seems to know the unusual symbology about. (Is his nickname Robert Langdon?)

Caravan guards attacked by the awful gnoll scourge. A few of us make it through the attack and drag our carcasses to the nearest town and are now looking for revenge, perhaps?
I like them both... here we go:
You were protecting a caravan as it was heading towards Kelmarane. Between a sandstorm, a sandworm, and a tribe of gnolls the caravan was sent to the East rather than South East. The two of you make it out alive with the cook of the caravan, Eglar Oovlest, an elderly gent with plenty of meat on his bones and one of the porters, likely the youngest of the whole company Pat Boy. Though as you are traveling together and have plenty of time to talk you learn much about Eglar and Pat. Pat's real name is Oliver Sweet, he is actually a halfling and 40 years old. He enjoyed playing the part of the young porter, it allowed him much leeway with the caravan. Eglar says he was once a sand pirate and had a swoon that was nearly 20 feet long. Eglar does have a thick gold earing on one of his lobes and many tattoos on his body to easily say he is a pirate. Though his mere girth makes it almost outlandish. A few more sandstorms and you decided to get out of the desert. Up the mountain you traveled. You found a rough dirt trail and followed it up until you found a slaughtered tribe of gnolls. Following the path of gore to the next tribe of gnolls to find a half lion half dragon, slaughtering them.
Revenge was on your mind and it might still be.
Soon enough one way or another you find yourselves getting to the House of the Beast atop Pale Mountain. There you hear the sounds of battle. Peeking around the open pathway into the walled outpost, you see a goliath, a flaming lady, and a large lady in armor smashing gnolls like it was going out of style... ;)
Welcome to the game, report in to gameplay. You can join the battle or watch.

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

Of course, I'm assuming the gnolls accept my help. If they don't,
well, I'll just leave them to it.

Merainaa |

What do I do
Merainaa waits, watching with glee as the creature cutting through all the gnolls. She shook her head as her traveling partner couldn’t resist getting involved. She hoped she wouldn’t have to haul his bacon out of the fire.
P.S. I will get her leveled up to four this evening.

GM Wolf |

YAY! Sassarra is staying!!!
Grimoin and Merainaa:
Grimoin charges forward to attack it, it stops and looks at you a bit confused. It then asks, "Why would you protect such a scourge?!" Its hide would deflect some of your blows. It doesn't try to dodge you.
Merainaa, Oliver and Eglar watch what transpires.
This creature has the features of a lion but the wings and scales of a brass dragon, and a wild mane matching its scales.

Yup life kicked in my teeth on the last day I was posting. I haven't been in the right mindset since then and just trying to make sure I am over prepared, I read my lessons multiple times. My stress level has been within range of my normal times this past week but still doing lots of prep work. Then I have been exhausted since all the doubleshifts that I have practically been doing, so I got home and crashed.... Ahhhh!
I do hope to post at least once a night but it will likely be quick responses. We will see, please give me grace and I hope the game picks up speed again!

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

If this species is a "Women and children also attack along with the men" status, I would step aside.

GM Wolf |

Merainaa you can join us in gameplay!
As the dwarf takes a step back the dragonne offers, "You should back up, I make a roar that deafens all within 30 feet, let alone fatiguing them."
He begins to tear and cut into the gnolls as if they were animals led to slaughter.
Once done it asks, "So what brings you to the Pale Mountain?"

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

"Ah yes. My apologies for our intrusion my lord; we were on our way in a caravan to the town of Kelmarane. Gnoll raiders ambushed us and we fled into the wilderness. We are currently lost, and would beg any directions you could offer us."

GM Wolf |

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

Grim will reluctantly agree, as it is the only road he can see to get to where he wants.

GM Wolf |

Spellcraft DC 18:Augry.

GM Wolf |

It takes him a few moments to recover, the spell obviously tired the creature. Though he states, "Shall I accompany you up the mountain to the House of the Beast, then I can place a quest upon your allies once per day. I will not kill the young and the gnolls that flee. After I rest I could fly the four of you up near the House of the Beast with ease."

Grimoin Al'Thorrak |

Upon the offer to fly them up to the House of the Beast and Quest his allies, Grim accepted.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! May you be merry and eat your fill! What is your favorite dish?

Merainaa |

Happy holidays to those who celebrate!
I like all the sides more than the mains. I’m a casserole guy, broccoli, green bean, hash brown, etc… basically put butter, cheese and a veggie together and it’s my favorite thing!

Made my daughter Alton Brown's scratch green bean casserole. Overdid the garlic a bit.
Made the tart cherry pie my wife wants every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
They asked me NOT to make the rest of the traditional feast, so I made monster grilled ham and cheese sandwiches instead. Sourdough, Muenster, Havarti, honey ham, and a slab of tomato. Roughly 2 oz of each cheese and 4 oz of ham per sandwich.
Bought a maple pecan pie since I have just never managed to get that custard to set properly.
