So, today is the launch day for the DDAL special campaign Ravenloft Mist Hunters. The advantage of this campaign is that you don't need to have a character that is the appropriate level, you just spec your character to the level of the module being run.
If you are interested in seeing the Character Creation Rules:
There is even a Tarroka card generator:
And special character sheets:
So, anyone interested in making a foray into the Domains of Dread?

That's five possibles... I just purchased the Epic and first module. In a week, or so, we can look at character generation together.
I will try to do this campaign justice, but like I said, horror is not my forte, but I will try to make this awesome! Be looking at the character gen document and get a feel for what you want to do, whether you have a concept already, or you want to let the Tarokka deck decide for you...
I will start looking at this seriously about Wednesday, next week.

So I did a quick search for Monastic Orders in Ravenloft and came up with The Monastery of the White Sun in Barovia. The person who mentioned it called the monks Sun Souls which would fit, and they were dedicated to the Morninglord.
Depending on what year it is I can either be a member/remnant who survived what happened at the monastery or a descendant of someone who survived. If you would prefer I come from an eastern domain I can keep looking to see if there is another monastery that fits.

Hmm I'll give the part 2 method a shot, sounds fun/novel to use the Tarokka cards to inspire the creative writing. I mean I don't need the narration part (though that would be a lot of fun with new players at a RL table).
Would you like us to roll using the tables or online deck? Or does DM draw one set for the entire party? If rolled, for duplicates, I'm assuming the drawn cards would be left on the table and not reshuffled?

If I am able to play in this, I think I'll be using this profile. A Barovian who is a loyal servant of the Morninglord who spreads his light throughout the lands.
You can use that character, except the ability score arrays are a little different from normal, and you will have to bump him back down to 1st lvl, for the Epic.
If that is okay with you, then I am okay with it. (Think of it as earlier in his career...)

Timing-wise, I would expect that it is in present, assuming Curse of Strahd is completed, and the cycle has begun anew. We can work with whichever you prefer...

It is pretty interesting... We can use the random Tarokka generator next week and work through the process.

That would be perfectly fine! I was more presenting him as an idea of what I'd be bringing to the table.

If we're both selected, our characters could be companions bringing the Morninglord's glory to the darkest corners of the domains of dread!

I've been playing a bunch of melee guys lately, I think I'm going with a Sorcerer or Warlock now. Maybe both.
Storywise, would it be too painful that the character has an otherworldly appearance? I was thinking it was a consequence of his lineage or pact.
Bear in mind that the initial module is a masquerade ball... Now, it may not matter too much, but understand that having an otherworldly appearance will come into play... and probably not to your benefit. That is just a guess...

Okay, with recruitment closed, we will move conversations for Character Creation to the Discussion Thread.
