S$#!. Lavanna has her work cut out for her, guess I'll give the little turd a helping hand, even if I don't like her much.

Some magical chanting can be heard followed by an invisible hand reaching out to touch Lavanna on the shoulder, turning her invisible.

This guy being up in our grill, and critting poor Jadren wasn't on my list of things to read this morning. His invisibility won't kick in until after Lavanna acts, but it should help you move around and heal Jadren easier. If you don't want it I'll put it on Kaako instead before I move out for some space to blast.

Lavanna feels herself disappear under the effect of Elsir's spell. She looks at him like "what did you do?" before realizing that her typically expressive face is also covered by the glamor. Shrugging, she whirls on Jadren, feeling his pain, and knits her fingers together with a stitching motion, causing his guts to spill back into his handsome belly, sealing the skin with threads of positive energy.

Having healed Jadren completely, the Hook is shunted by his body's re-integration with itself, expelling it to the other side of him, now barely a flesh wound, even if still very much on it, or rather, wrapped around it, stuck, but unharmed.

That’s some crazy rolls going on here, holy cow.

Jadren turns pale like a ghost when the massive hook impales him and almost cuts him in half. Close to vomiting seeing the blood and intestines spilling out of his plate armor, his eyes go wide when he feels the warmth of what he can only suspect is Lavanna’s healing hands.

”Thanks, dear.” He says still sounding a bit weak. The gleeful spark in his eyes that has been there throughout the whole exploration through these caves vanishes as he scowls at the massive skeleton in front of him.

”I didn’t like that, big boy.” He growls and raises his shield before he begins hacking at the undead beast with his longsword, only halting for a brief second trying to remember what they've taught him in the temple.

Oh bloody fudge, I have completely forgotten about hero points! Jadren should have definitely earned one for mostly handling the water fall on his own, Elsir made short work of the ants as well. And I think I would have to give one to Kaako and Lavanna for both critically avoiding the failed puzzle from the previous room. Don't be afraid to use them in this fight. Hopefully there won't be any more super massive crits.

Elsir decides to do something nice for Lavanna, making her invisible to the naked eye, probably glad his own face isn't seen when he does.

Lavanna takes advantage of the invisibility to heal up Jadren from his massive stomach wound, getting him back to feeling healthy if still stuck on a hook. She then slips around the undead and into a position to help Kaako later. She gives away her very approximate location enough to try distracting the skeleton.

The fighter then goes to town on the skeleton. he takes one swing and skitters his longsword across a femur, dealing less damage than if he'd been cutting softer flesh but the pure trauma seems to leave some traces of damage. His second slice also clatters on bone, only some of the force applying to his target.

Secret Religion check:

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

The hook in his stomach is distracting enough that trying to recall anything about skeletons is just... OW!

Kaako, feeling hidden in the shadows, sneaks into a good position realizing as he moves that the skeleton is tracking him the entire way. Actually I'm going to refund you that Hero Point as Stealth rolls are supposed to be secret, and I believe you can't use fortune effects on secret rolls.

The tengu then applies a club to a choice spot on the skeleton that seems especially distracted by Lavanna's 'psst' than expected. His club hits and deals more damage than Jadren's two attacks combined.

The skeleton twists his hook in Jadren, keeping him grabbed and dealing a small amount of damage.
Grab renewal damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7

It then takes a look around for that spellcaster that must be in the room somewhere.
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19 Wait I think that was the only way he could fail that. Elsir's Stealth DC is 14, right?

Elsir proves to be silent as a church mouse at the moment and the skeleton gives a grumble as it is unable to pinpoint the breathing of the elf. It then tries to swing a claw at Kaako instead.

Claw vs. Kaako: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Slashing Damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13

It slashes through a few feathers and leaves a small streak of blood behind, but doesn't do anything too damaging otherwise.

Concealed: This condition protects a creature if it’s in mist, within dim light, or amid something else that obscures sight but does not provide a physical barrier to effects. An effect or type of terrain that describes an area of concealment makes all creatures within it concealed.

When you target a creature that’s concealed from you, you must attempt a DC 5 flat check before you roll to determine your effect. If you fail, you don’t affect the target. The concealed condition doesn’t change which of the main categories of detection apply to the creature. A creature in a light fog bank is still observed even though it’s concealed.

This skeleton seems to have a thing about going down to a crit sneak attack. Table 2 finished it the same way.

Kaako sidles around the skeleton, and takes two quick bashes at the legs of the skeleton, the first cracks its left femur and brings the thing crashing down, as the second shatters the thing's skull leaving an unmoving pile of bones in the wake.

As the group stays on guard to make sure the thing wasn't bluffing being dead-dead and not still undead-dead the sound of rocks rumbling echoes out from the south wall as a new door opens. Cawlo wheels into the room, gives a derisive CAW at the remains and flits into the doorway. He stops, looking back and making sure everyone is following him with a pirrup of noise.

The stairs descend deep into the island for what feels like a floor or two before leveling off and slowly ramping back up to sea level. It takes a near hour of following the clockwork parrot before you emerge into a naturally-formed cavern barely lit by holes in a curtain on one wall. In the center of the room is a giant chest. Approaching, it becomes quickly clear that the thing is propped open, and a few more steps proves it to be empty of all but a few heavily corroded coppers and silvers.

Before anyone can start to complain, though, Cawlo hops precariously onto the lid of the nearly empty treasure chest as the voice of Captain Renlock echoes from its metal beak once more.

“My friends. You truly were the finest crew I ever had the pleasure of sailing with and I am sorry to say that the promised treasure was a ruse. I hope you will forgive me, but I turned it over to the Andoran captain in exchange for his promise to be lenient on all of you. That treasure bought your freedom and I can’t think of a finer purchase.”

The bird grows silent for a moment, before leaping off the chest to perch atop the moldering drapery on the far side of the chamber. The voice continues. “But fear not my friends, because an old pirate like me always has one more secret, and this one is for you.”

With that, the parrot tugs at the curtain, which falls away to reveal a small bay. He flies across the sands to a different part of the rock wall before pulling open what proves to be a second, glamoured curtain that hides a secret cove on the far side of the island.

There, sitting above the waves in a dry dock, is a glorious sailing sloop in near-perfect condition! The parrot turns to look at the group, sunlight glinting off his eyes. “I had a few enchantments cast to make sure it was ready for you when the time was right. The ship is yours. Take it and see the world that I never did.”

Cawlo gives everyone a long look, before stopping. For the first time since your reunifying the bird seems at a loss as to what to do. He looks at everyone with pleading eyes and caws one last time, "Cawlo wanna oil."

That's the end of the written scenario, I'm going to spend the next hour or two reporting and getting chronicles together, but before I close this thread up, I'd love to hear about what would your character want to do from here. Do you take Cawlo with you? Where would you want to sail first? Do you have ideas for what to name the ship?

Jadren’s smile grows wider with every word the captain speaks through Cawlo’s mouth. Listening to his late captain, Jadren walks over to Kaako and puts his hand on his shoulder. ”Well done, Kaako. Well done.” He whispers.

Jadren does not hesitate a second. Having been at Iomedae’s temple and trained has definitely changed him and turned him into a better person. Nevertheless, hiding in a stone building all his life is probably not the right path ahead. He walks towards the boat they’ve been gifted and picks up Cawlo on the way. His armor squeaks terribly at this point. ”Me too Cawlo, me too.”

He turns around to his crewmates. ”Y’all coming?”

"You bet your rusty sword!" Lavanna follows Jadren. This was her life, salt on her face, wind in her hair. There was a vast ocean to explore, and what better than with her favorite motley crew.

"Try not tow wreck this one, Lucky" she teases Kaako "Third time's a charm?"

She looks towards Elsir now, and speaks to him for perhaps the first time this whole adventure "Gotta say, I feel a little bent out of shape for being so easily baited" pointing to Cawlo "I guess the old captain knows us better than we know ourselves"

To Kaako and Elsir "You coming?"

Kaako hops in victory as the giant skeleton crumbles to pieces.
Aye!!! We did it, mates! We did it! Ha ha!!!
He laughs with his beak open wide and shakes his head in triumph to his companions.

-------------------

His eyes light up when they reach the chest. Awe turns to disappointment as he looks into the chest.
Then Cawlo speaks in the Captain's voice...

His eyes go wide again in shock as he stares at the glorious sloop.
*Blink, blink*
Is... is it real? Not a mirage or trick of illusion?
He turns and looks at his companions.
*Blink, blink*
He gives hugs and handshakes all around.
No more drinkin' me sorrows away in a seedy dockside tavern. We got adventurin' to do, mateys! Cawlo, lead the way!!!

---------------------

With hands on his hips, he stares up at the ship.
What do we name her? Seein' that we destroyed that big ol' skelly, how about "Rattlin' Bones"?
He turns to see what his companions think.
*Blink*

Kaako scampers up the rope ladder to the deck then scurries his way to his usual spot aboard the ship -the crow's nest. With a hand blocking the sun from his eyes, he scans the horizon (*blink, blink*) then calls down to his companions.
It's perfect!!!
He waves his tricorn hat to those below.
Captain Jadren! There be land to the southwest and mountains to the north!
Where to!?!

Loved, loved, loved it!!! I love pirate themed adventures and you did an awesome job, Sedoriku!!! I had an awesome time with all you wonderful players! Cheers, mateys!

The room can nearly feel the explosion of Elsir's brain as he sees the chest is empty, then again after he scans it for possible illusion magic. No treasure? But.. but.. the RING! He quietly leaves the room for a few minutes, only coming back in after he hears Cawlo's recorded message about trading the treasure to save their skins.

That.. makes a lot of sense now. "I... I really needed that gold. This cursed ring is killing me, and if I don't raise the money to get it removed then I'm done." He tugs on the blackened band uselessly.

"Looks like I'm stuck." He turns and salutes Jadren "Chief magical officer Elsir reporting for duty." He quips, almost cracking a small smile before patting Kaako on the back "Great name, but have you ever thought about The Invisible Genie... really sneaks up on you if you give it a minute..."
