Dungeon Madam |

Thanks! That's the plan--assuming we don't freeze to death. ^^

Kata Coszma |

Is it cold up there right now? Unseasonably cool and rainy here in San Diego. Kind of like living in the PNW :)

Dungeon Madam |

This house isn't well-hooked up, and it gets cold at night.

Alaïs Thalanassa |

Is it unhaunted, at least? Not wanting to suggest alarming imaginings, but it was the sort of quibble that occurred to my weirdo brain after finally getting around to reading Jackson's Hill House over the weekend. ;)
Seriously, though, I hope you and your gf are having a good time. (And no spooky than works for you.)

Dungeon Madam |

Okay, actually, what should Venelle do? I haven't had the energy for a post today, so I might as well take requests.

Alaïs Thalanassa |

We got our first snow of the year here in my part of the world today! It was too warm for it to stick around, but it was nice. One could almost taste the winter on the air! :)
Um, anyway. Tactics.
The impression I got is that Venelle isn't much for brawling, and too nice to risk lobbing anything (like, say, a fun-sized owlbear) into the face of a baddie while there's a risk of friendly fire / collateral damage unless things take a dramatic turn for the worse, but maybe she could ready some sort of projectile just in case, if she's at all into thrown weapons? Or try to intimidate one of Kullen's cronies into backing off, or just to the point he loses some nerve?

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

Is Venelle even in a position to get involved? Brawler or not, she could move into a threatening position and give someone a flank. Or just watch to keep others out of the fight.

Dungeon Madam |

Venelle would have to draw a weapon for that, and while characters are dealing lethal damage, nobody's drawn yet (you can tell because Kullen's giant magic greataxe is still safely strapped to his back). Intimidate's probably good enough, considering she's still on owlbear duty.

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

What do the berries do, Alais?

Alaïs Thalanassa |

They're spiked goodberries! So, they heal 1 hp, but they count as a drink instead of a meal. :)
Oh, and give +1 to saves vs. fear effects for 1 minute, for what it's worth.

Kata Coszma |

Happy harvest! Busy holidays here, hope to catch up tomorrow.

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

You've got this.

Kata Coszma |

Good luck with the push, KC!

Victory is mine! And on the 31st day she rested. I'll try to post tomorrow or the day after!

Dungeon Madam |

I'll move y'all to the observatory tomorrow!

Alaïs Thalanassa |

*Screams in rock star!*
Good Yule, and merry (and metal! ;) ) Christmas, or such, according to your take on the season, all!
(My family’s mostly celebrating tomorrow, based on when everyone’s available, especially since my brother and his partner are hosting us, and they’ve had a whirl of parties already with various branches of her extended family.)

Dungeon Madam |

I am generally recovering from the holiday chaos, aside from one or two more upcoming birthdays, and should be back to regular posting now!

One more holiday gathering to go, but a New Year's Eve wedding (a wonderful affair, I must say) that rang in the new year followed by a funeral two days later has left my heart full from all the love of extended family and my body drained of any energy at all.
But I'm here, waiting for another chance to crush a skellie.

Kata Coszma |

I hope everyone had a nice holidays. Glad your heart is full of love, Edrukk!
Westcoasters: are you getting hammered with rain? This atmospheric river(s) has been wild down here. Everything is so, so soggy :0

I'm getting walloped at the moment. Hope to be back posting tomorrow!

Figured it might be worth putting it out there somewhere: Alaïs is all about the aesthetic. When in doubt as to where exactly she is or how she’s sorted herself, she can always be assumed to have attempted to drape herself as decoratively or dramatically as possible.
Which means, if anyone ever needs a body to pull something off or set the scene, so long as you can find a way to pitch it in a way that would appeal to a fastidious poseur (poseuse?) of an elven princess, go for it.
Oh gosh, she should never be allowed to throw a party, because she'd be far too tempted to micromanage seating arrangements and meet-cutes and trying to arrange (*shudder*) tableaux vivants. Now that I think of it, part of her objection to Filge right now may be more that he's doing it wrong than that he's playing dollies with his "guests" as such. o.O

Ewwwwww.
Nice post, KC! Kata has some real hate going for this Filge incel.

Dungeon Madam |

If I was running a more tongue-in-cheek kind of game, Filge would be written as a Miles Bron expy.

Alaïs Thalanassa |

There are so many ways that a lot of spells can get worse even beyond their basic premise, even when that's stuff like, "turn what used to be people into appalling, rotten mockeries of life." >:(
Anyway, I meant to post earlier, I noticed you ended up updating before you predicted you would, DM. I hope you weren't feeling pressured: I had a moment to post, and I know I can get out of the habit if I get into the headspace of "I don't really need to post anything in this scene, do I?" which leads into feeling like I'm not pulling my weight in the keeping things rolling department, but whatever works for everyone is what works for them, and I never want to push anyone. If on any given day tomorrow works better, than tomorrow's fine, even with chatty elves insisting on sneaking a word in edgewise. ;)
... And now I'm thinking of Dracula: Dead and Loving It, in which the Count and Van Helsing have a running battle to have the last word before the latter figures out who Dracula is:
"You must remember, [s]he is cunning. [S]he has the wisdom of centuries. And above all, [s]he will never give up."
(Vampiric interjection in Transylvanian.)
"Ugh! That [elf]! [S]he never gives up!"
...
"Never ... gives ... up." *Penny drops.*
I promise Alaïs isn't a vampire, honest!

Back from my trip and will resume posting shortly. A note on Kata's performance: she has lingering performance, so she would have started up performing again on the round she missed her aid. Since it was inconsequential it wouldn't effect the narrative. I think she is at 5/10 rounds left for the day.

Dungeon Madam |

I'm in a bit of a downswing at the moment. All's well, but posting is definitely going to be slower for a bit.

Alaïs Thalanassa |

Sorry, I couldn't resist the opportunity to let Alaïs live down to everyone's worst expectations for her. ;)
... And now I'm imagining nervous glances between the other Jasidians and the rest of the party, silently coming to an agreement that, for everyone's sanity, Amariss and Alaïs should be kept separate to prevent a critical mass of mean-girl being reached.

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

I feel I should warn the GM that my doughty fellow is gaining feats for item creation and will be investigating the possibility of creating a magical weapon or six. Just so you can plan and educate me regarding how this works.

Kata Coszma |

Oooh level 3, nice! Eddruk, what types of things are you thinking about crafting?
I'm walloped with end of semester fast approaching - hope to get a post up tomorrow and leveled up maybe Wednesday afternoon.
EDIT: Leveled up:
+1 BAB
+1 fort
+6 hp
+12 skills: diplomacy, disable device, intimidate, Kno: geography and religion, Lore: undead, perception, perform (percussion and oratory), spellcraft x2, UMD
Feat: spell focus (evocation)
1 SPD and 2 spells known (prestidigitation and saving finale)
Inspire competence +2

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

Instead of a bonus combat feat at 3rd, as a forgepriest I get Craft Magic Arms & Armor. Most of my points are in weaponsmithing, but I'm not bad at armorsmithing if I can use someone else's tools.
+1 BAB
+1 Reflex
+8 hp
+7 skills
Craft Magic Arms & Armor (bonus)
Ancestral Weapon Mastery (grants Weapon Focus for my Dwarven Waraxe, which makes it a sacred weapon for me)
Another 1st-level spell slot
Kata, remind me that I get an extra +1 trait bonus to damage when I have a morale bonus to attack in combat. I don't think I've been using it.

Alaïs Thalanassa |

Hi, everyone: I’m posting this to all the campaigns I’m in that with the end of the month fast approaching, among other things, the next week or so is going to be hair-pullingly awful on my end, so I may only be able to post briefly and erratically until a day or so after May Day.
If things end up dragging too long, feel free to bot me.
Incidentally, did the party get a rest in before returning to the cairn? I'm a bit distracted and under-caffeinated for parsing the time update.

Briar Vervain |

Level 3 Briar
+1 BAB
+1 Fort
+1 Ref
+ 8 HP
New Feat: Spell Focus (illusion)
New Revelation: Dark Secrets (gets to add sorc/wiz shadow or darkness spells to spell list and spells known)
+1 1st level Spell Per Day
New Spells Known: Shadowfade (acquired through Dark Secrets), Bless
Skill Points: 4(oracle)+2(int)+2(background)
+1 bluff
+1 diplo
+1 heal
+1 knowledge (dungeoneering) (first point)
+1 knowledge (religion) (first point)
+1 disguise
+1 craft (alchemy)
+1 profession (courtesan)

Alaïs Thalanassa |

I'll probably make time to level up properly and post in gameplay later this evening, but for now, quick question to help me decide.
Which of the following do all y'all think would be most useful?
A) A boost to spell save DCs if Alaïs can land a hit
B) Help crit-fishing (boost to confirmation rolls)
C) A brief mind-affecting effect on confirming a crit (probably less useful if there are necromancers' pets running around and such)

Alaïs Thalanassa |

Ah, right. After some second thought, there was too much overlap with stuff that Alaïs gets later on anyway, and some of the rage powers she more or less has to take for thematic reasons aren't ideal with undead running around all over the place, so I've settled on A.
She's taking Riving Strike, which should help the others land attack spells. Technically, a penalty to baddies struck rather than a boost for us, but who's counting?
(Which is how you can tell that Alaïs is into the arty side of architecture rather than the practical, and if we ever have to do math, someone should probably double-check her calculations. :) )

Alaïs Thalanassa |

Hi, everyone! Work's been crazy, and I've just started traveling for a conference this morning, so things will continue to be hectic through to next week. I should be able to post off and on when I have time and internet access, but it might be spotty.
Bot me as needed, please!

Edrukk Thorvirgunson |

We are hitting the road for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. (Big one with a zero on it and everything! Later I might explain why the entire trip got upended, but today, we go!) I will likely still be able to post, but if I’m quiet, fret not and bot me as necessary. I trust your judgement. Cheers!

Alaïs Thalanassa |

"Man, Ka, your new friends sure do talk a lot. I'm not gonna collapse the Cairn!"
Called out by an undead teenager. Alaïs probably feels exactly as you might expect about this development. :)
