GM's To-Do List
I feel like I've gotten a little sloppy with the game due to travel (at least to my liking) so I'm going to be cleaning up the loot sheet and writing another recap. These are my goals for this coming week:
1. (I know you all have done this but) I will clean up the loot sheet and clearly establish character value (gear and gold.)
2. I will give a decently written recap after the first two weeks of living in Talmandor's Bounty. (This will be posted after the three events have finished. The party is currently on the first event.)
Another Note
I know the party dynamic has shifted a little with Brodigan gone, so if any of you are unhappy with your character, I would be okay with you swapping classes. If you choose to do this, please follow the guidelines I established in Recruitment.
Your new character will NOT have the items your original character looted, they will not have the social bonuses built up from NPC interactions, and they will not have the firsthand experiences/knowledge of what the party has accomplished thus far. (I.e they weren't exploring the abandoned settlement of Talmandor's Bounty and they didn't venture into the Shellcracker Caves. Their experiences are limited to the six-week voyage and word of mouth.) The character wealth is based on the current party level, so since the party is level 2, your new character would have 1,000 gold to work with.
You can switch out when the party finishes this mini-dungeon or at the end of the two weeks. (There are three 'events' within the first two weeks. This mini-dungeon being the longest.)
I hope this decision won't leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. We are going to complete the first three books (levels 1-10) and I want to make sure everyone is enjoying the story experience.

Crispin Xantrian |

I'm happy with Crispin. I've played Arcanists in my live group to a high level and they just get better and better.
That said I do think we're going to need a trap finder sooner or later. If no one is interested in going in that direction I will take a level of Rogue after level three.

Becky has a slightly weaker version of trapfinding (no '+ half your level bonuses to Perception/Disable Device') from her magic lore class ability. The way the dice roller hates her, though, that difference is likely to come back to bite her.
In general, I'm satisfied with Becky. She's even worse in combat than I'd feared, but up 'til now she could lurk safely in the rear of the party. I'll look for ways to pump up her AC some and probably invest her next feat toward combat (Weapon Finesse or Point-Blank Shot).

Mauro Ocela |

Mauro is having fun, so I've no plans for change... If we are bringing up mechanical concerns, I'm more concerned about lack of a divine caster than I am about the trapfinding thing.

Abeowin N'thera |

I like bey but kinda feel that he is a one trick pony. WOuld like some more versatility so I may switch him out. Still thinking on it.

Crispin Xantrian |

One reason I'm waiting until Crispin reaches 3rd is to pick up an offensive exploit to boost his damage output. Acid jet or Sonic burst increase with the Arcanists level and help a great deal with picking buffing spells. As you have damage dealing that doesn't rely on picking spells.

Mauro Ocela |

It's not very nice of me to do this to poor Becky, but she got grappled - don't chokers have constrict? It should presumably be doing grapple checks to do damage (and Constrict on top of that...)

It's true what they say: "No one likes a Know-It-All!" ;)
If we decide to retcon this, the little choker may not be able to do damage itself. In the Grapple rules, it says that additional grapplers add a +2 bonus (like an Aid Another check) to the main grappler's check; not sure if it's different for creatures with the Grab ability.

Mauro Ocela |

Thank you for the reminder, Mauro! :) So if the target fails the CMD to escape grapple, their AC is still the same, right?
Grappling is a more complicated ruleset than that... The grappled condition gives you a -4 to dex, which is a -2 to AC (note that grappled applies to both Becky and the choker in this situation...)

Abeowin N'thera |

I will most likely be sparse/delayed with my posting this week. We are putting our house on the market and thus been doing alot of packing and moving things to a storage unit. Its happening quicker than we expected thus the rush.

Becky Beys |

Good luck with the whole process.

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

Here is Antaral the alchemist I will be trading out Bey for.
Ventiine take a look and let me know what is missing or needs adjusted.

Crispin Xantrian |

Sorry to hear that. Down here in New Zealand we still have the odd case popping up, but it was managed properly from the start. Strict lockdown and compulsory masks when in public. So the number of deaths was thankfully low.

Becky Beys |

My condolences.

Asher 'Cinnis' Regillenus |

I am sorry to hear about your loss, GM.
I'm Greek, live in NJ, and am older than you, so I have a lot of family in the restaurant business. We've had several losses in the last year due to Covid, so I understand the senselessness of it.
Everyone, please stay safe.

Becky Beys |

Just for fun (though it's not fun in the least), I went back to see just how bad Becky's dice rolls have been lately. For simplicity, I just checked her d20 rolls.
On 3/25, she rolled a 15 on an attack roll with her short bow. In the month since, she's rolled: 8, 3, 5, 3, 9, 4, 14 (!!), 9, 1, 2, 1, 10, and 4. Only 2 double-digit rolls out of 13 (and technically, a 10 is still a below-average roll). That works out to an average d20 roll of 5.615. Ouch!

Asher 'Cinnis' Regillenus |

Yep.. the dice roller hates us.
The only reason I hit most of the time is my high hit bonus when fighting aberrations. A +10 to +12 will paper over a lot of bad rolls at this level.

GM Ventiine |

My computer was being difficult and wouldn't upload this earlier, but *here* is a depiction of the choker fight!

Becky Beys |

"'Getting it on like Donkey Rats' Where on Golarion did that come from?"
Becky got the original quote a little wrong--It was "going at it like donkey rats," and it was spoken by the goblin druid Gogmurt in the original 3.5 "Rise of the Runelords: Burnt Offerings" about the villain Nualia and her lover, Tsuto Kaijitsu. I figured it sounded like the slang a teenager might use.

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

so..quick question, which quicksand rules are you using? Pathfinder 1 has one set and pathfinder 2 has another. While they are quite similar, there are a few differences that might make a difference in this scenario.
You linked PF2 rules
Here is the Pf1 link PF1 quicksand

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

I will be sparse if at all able to post this weekend. Our house is on the market and we have multiple visits scheduled so we are leaving town til monday. That way my 5 kids can't make a mess again in it. :)
With that said, I will post if I can but feel free to DMPC me if I slow down the action.
Antaral would if he knows it would help, use touch of the sea extract and gain a swim speed and +8 bonus to swim. He would then swim to the kid after having securely attached a rope to himself. Grabbing the kid he would attempt to swim back. If swimming is a struggle then Antaral would use his mutagen for strength to boost his abilities. Hopefully the party can hold the rope and help pull the two to safety.
That is what I would have done. SO now DMPCing if necessary should be easier.

Asher 'Cinnis' Regillenus |

The second did that to me for a day. I felt substantially dumber for about 18 hours until the haze in my head cleared the next morning.

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

we sold our house and will be moving asap. we close in first part of june. So lots of packing. I will try to keep up though.

Becky Beys |

Good luck with everything!

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

lol. just couldn't remember why you wasn't responding.
BTW we just sold and bought a house so the packing begins which we have to find a place to live for 4 months inbetween when ours is closed and when our new one is completed. I will try to stay on top of things but feel free to dmpc me if I get behind.

Mauro Ocela |

@Gm Ventiine, unless there is some sort of a hidden clock on this encounter, can we save a bunch of dice rolling and just call it over? Barring something special, this vine isn't touching anyone unless we get really dumb.

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

I have a +11 craft alchemy. That makes most things with in reason to make. Could we use the reagents and allow me to make the items thus getting them at 1/3 the cost instead of 1/2? This would give us more bang for the buck.
Unless there are items higher than dc21 (taking 10 and using traits allows this) then pay for alba to make them.
Would this be possible Gm? Would the party want or be ok with this?

GM Ventiine |

Alba, the friendly, well-traveled dwarf, would support Antaral's interest in alchemical crafting, so the party could take a portion of the 300g worth of reagents for crafting if they wished. (Alba is busy running her own business and completing her assigned colony chores so she will not assist you with the checks.)
Pathfinder crafting rules apply (link.) Please remember 40 hours constitutes as a normal workweek. For the purposes of time, the party collected the reagents after one week of living at Talmandor's Bounty, so you could make one week's crafting checks now if you'd like. Otherwise, you will need to wait for more time to pass in order to make another profession or craft check.
Alba automatically succeeds at whatever she crafts and the party may come to her at any point with whatever remainder of gold they have left on their tab. (So you don't have to decide everything right now.)

Crispin Xantrian |

I doubt there is much paperwork for Crispin at the moment. A long list of what we need, and a very short list of what we have.
He can also work with Alba & Antaral as an assistant for Alchemy.

Antaral Ne'lethborn |

Troll stypic cost 100gp {craft cost 33gp 3 sp 3cp} DC 25 alchemy
Does the group see the benefit in this? It supplements my healing assistance especially in battle or when we know we are going into battle.
If I take 10 then skill bonus is 11 crafter's fortune(spell) +5 on one check = 26 with no roll. GM Ventiine would this be permissible or do you want the actual rolls?
