GM

Sorry guys, I have had some RL issues. My wife has been in the hospital and have not gotten the ad up yet. I will try and get one up by Friday

Hey, don't worry about it. One of the best reasons to not be online.

Hopefully she is feeling better.

GM

Ty, its been a rough patch for sure. But She is home now and doing much better.

good to hear.

We have one new person who would like to join. Also Atlas2112 has asked to rejoin the game. He played Borak , who just vanished. But he has offered to play a new character if that works best.

I am inclined to let him rejoin, any thoughts on New character vs Old?

Female Human Seasoned | Pace 6 | Parry 5 | Toughness 7 (2) | 3/3 Bennies

I'm fine to have new recruits! No real opinion on Borak, we didn't have a lot of character development so we don't have a lot of pre-existing history to redo.

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

My thought is that we already have one who uses magic, so a second might be a bit of a long shot.

He was an interesting character, but a new one might be easier to slide in.

A new recruit, we could use.

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

had a power outage yesterday when I was trying to get caught up.
Will need a bit of time to get caught up on the reading, and then post

No prob, I fell behind over the weekend.

Hi all, I look forward to gaming with you. I'll let the GM introduce my PC at a suitable point.

It's a smallish world so it's possible one or other of you has encountered Marshal Zachary Ames at some point in the past; I'm happy to tie backstories together if anyone is interested.

GM

That is not a bad idea, Winona may be the best connection for that.

No worries, and happy holidays to all whether Christmas, Hanukkah, Saturnalia or other!

I have also been sick. I'll get things checked and moving in a day or so

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Sorry guy, That was worse than I thought. I am up and about, I sound like I am chewing gravel and coughing up a damned lung, but I am no longer sleeping most the day. Hope everyone had a good holiday

Oh man, that sounds like what I had about this time in 2019. It was epic. I stopped posting for like two whole weeks, and when I came back the only phrase I could use to describe it is "It feels like my lungs want to vomit." =]

damn that sounds rough.

try to feel better

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yeah, it felt worse than some car accidents I have been in. My freaking finger joints hurt lol. When sick I tend to sleep and sleep and then sleep some more.

I've had something too - great way to start the new year, or rather not. Either way, I'm on the mend and still around so let me know when to join the game.

I apologize, having to move and toss a lot of stuff from the house.

Youngest kids friend brought in bedbugs, and never let us know.
Will be spending the next few days after work cleaning and moving stuff for the exterminator.

UGG, just the thing we needed. :(

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

Will get something else up tomorrow, got to start a claim for my sons getting into a collision with 2 of my vehicles.

1st son, got brake checked - Able to stop in time. (new jeep)
2nd son - Unable to stop in time. hit the back of my jeep. (old ram pick up)

If it don't rain, it pours. Just cannot catch a break. :(

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Damn sorry about your troubles man. Good luck with both the bedbugs and the insurance. Both may take magic to deal with

Its all getting sorted. But it is pulling all my off work time

I get that, stuff like that can be a pain

Ah yes, the work ambush. Always a b&*+!

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

If you see this more than once, I am spamming all my games I am in.

Next 4 days will be haphazard, but I will do my best to get a post in.

Still removing stuff and reorganizing so that the final treatment for those damned bugs is successful. (So much thrown out.)

In the middle of that, I ended up spraining my ankle, making it more difficult.

Once again, I apologize for my lack of posting, but I should be back up to posting full speed near the end of the month.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

No worries man, you have been hit with a lot of BS over a very short time. The bed bugs alone are like a curse.

Quick check to make sure I understand the rules: if we're 200 yards away that's well beyond the extreme range for even a rifle given they're listed as 24/48/96. Is that right?

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

Remember ranges are in inches, and one inch is two yards.(It makes sense in context. =)

GM, what kind of equipment do the Natives have? Guns? Hatchets? Bows?

Oh man that's rough Rufus. That's why I have those Walmart zipper bags on all of my mattresses. The kids rip some but its a good piece of mind not worrying about things getting through to the mattress. Keeps out spills too, and those we have many.

As stated, Its in inches and each inch is two yards. As such long range for that weapon is right at 196 yards. I was using yards as a guestimation. I don't mind if you are slightly closer as I am not worrying about 4 yards. To get closer you will need another stealth roll.

@ Mal, you can make out rifles and some sidearms. To get more detail you will need a Notice roll.

Glad I checked! OK, with my pistol I'm going to need to get in closer. I'll post accordingly.

I didn't think about the weapon ranged, I will keep that in mind and try and post game ranges too. I just think in yards often.

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

GM, i have a sleeve gun, what are the chances that they only grabed my holstered guns.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

They did not search anyone, if you have a hidden weapon, its still there. Although they are hiding you down so it will take an action to break free

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

I will get something up today. Just a bit busy at work right now.

Liberty's Edge

Parry: 8| TOU: 10(2){Bal}| RATN: 6 {shield}| PP: 15/15| Notice: d4| Bennies: 3/3|

Couple things.

1) What is confusing about my toughness?

"Toughness: 2+ 3(Vig) + 2 (Armor) +1{Brawler} = 8(2){Bal}"

Formula is 2 plus vigor. That makes 5. Brawler adds 1. 6. Putting ARmor on top of that gives us 8(2). And my armor has the Balistic property, which subtracts 2 from bullet damage.

2) GM, I don't understand your attack rolls.

They took two shots each? Page 103:

"Each additional action beyond the first inflicts a −2 penalty to all actions. Taking two actions, for example, incurs a −2 penalty to both, "

With -2 to the first shot it looks like I'm missed.

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

I have some more issues with the attack rolls, which I PM'd to Keeper.

Mal - FWIW, in SWADE Core only modern and futuristic armors have the Ballistic property. In my 2011 Deadlands Player Guide, there's no such thing.... I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I don't understand where it came from.

I thought you could get armored coats from Smith & Robards that have ballistic armor? Deadlands SWADE p. 35—S&R sells Infernal Device armor that has ballistic protection 2.

GM

Let me covers some errors I made so far. I was in a rush yesterday Moring and made both rule errors and its looking like unclear posting on some things.

1: Copy and Paste error: Warriors 1 and 2 had rifles, 3 used a pistol and 4 just took his free shaken and attacked with a tomahawk. The damages are correct but the names got mangled.

2:I goofed and forgot the Multi-Action Penalty counted for all attacks Warrior 1 and 2 made. As such Warrior 1 missed Zack and he only took 9 from the pistol of warrior 3, which I sad was 8.

3: error 2, I swapped the hits by mistake. Mal got hit by guy 2, who did 28. So Zack got hit only by the pistol of W3 for 9 total, with only and AP of 1, Zack is just shaken.

3a: The 2nd shot of the rifle hit Mal, I rolled 16( two 8s) as they ace I took the 2 and 3rd dice of my extra rolls as the first got used by a ace that missed. that is a 5+7, so 12+16. that is 28.

On Mals Toughness, I totally forgot Brawler added +1 toughness so I could only get 7 and was so confused. So I asked.

@ Flying Eagle, Mal is using the Lightly armored vest from the current Weird west rulebook. It does offer 2 ballistic protection.

Sorry for the confusion folks,I do not mind if someone points out when I make a mistake. I clearly made one here with rules and with the copy error.

I'll update when I get home this evening.

Heh. I have one more question. ^_^

Do the warriors take a Recoil modifier?

Human Indian : Parry 7 (with shield), Toughness 6(1)

Oh, that's a good one! I haven't shot a firearm twice in a round in so long that I totally forgot about it! Another -2 to both shots!

GM

Recoil only applies to Rate of Fire of 2 or greater. In Deadlands most guns are ROF 1. The gun stats will always list ROF, only Gatling guns have a ROF greater than 1 and always go full out. And RoF is scary in Savage worlds, you can shoot as many times with a single action as the RoF. So while you are likely to miss a Gatling pistol could fire 9 times per round, three shots per action, emptying all 30 shots.

Another note: The recoil isn’t cumulative between actions. It's a flat -2 per action you go higher than RoF 1. In deadlands no gun in the core Weird West book allows you to choose rate of fire. Gatling guns go full bore, always.

@GM - to err is human, to admit it and 'fess up is divine :) gods know I've misinterpreted a rule or two in my time...

That means I can spend a Benny to soak up the shaken and take my actions, right? Or do I need to make a Vigour roll?

While Shaken you can only take free actions. You get one free spirit roll to overcome that shaken condition. You can also spend a Bennie at any time to auto recover from shaken. I would take the free roll in this case and only spend if you fail.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm dead.

I think it took longer to make this character than I've been playing it.

Well fortunate we are that I have a backup character.

Although he was lured away by the talk of spirits that only he can hear, those same spirits have now blown the winds of fortune in a new direction.
