Lasaraleen |
Lasaraleen will help dispatch the remaining zombie once it’s usefulness has been expended
”Another devil alone will not deter us. We have the divine might of Sarenrae on our side and blades!
Did we get a sense of how far ‘that way’ was from the zombie? 100’ 1000 yards, 2 days March? Like can we see a camp or building?
GM Aldizog |
The zombie could say that it was "further than an arrow shot" away, but time moves strangely here. There are neither sun nor stars to mark the passage of time, and undead don't get tired or hungry on the march.
As to what you can see, well, you can see 60' of bright light, and 60' of dim light beyond that.
It looks somewhat like the Mana Wastes.
Lasaraleen's Daylight spell will last for 100 minutes.
You walk and walk... everything remains dark, still, and silent. You come to a road sort of like the one you took in the Mana Wastes, and follow it. The Daylight nears its end.
So you are not yet at the next location... cast more Daylight or make do with Light?
Chandu |
Chandu will cast Daylight once Lasaraleen's is about to expire.
Lasaraleen |
Lasaleen will not have another daylight, so she appreciates Chandu's
Thanks Sister! And Brother Ignatius, good idea! I will see if my Wayfinder will also aid in lighting this darkened place.
Renard Thelas |
"The sands here seems endless but there is light. By all that is Holy there is light that lets use see." Renard proclaims happy that he didn't have to grope around in the dark.
GM Aldizog |
You move on, an island of the light in the vast darkness of the demi-plane.
After about three hours (Chandu's Daylight is still active), something changes.
The dark, dusty road suddenly dips into a small depression, maybe a half mile long. Scattered throughout that depression are what appear at first to be neatly organized rows of soldiers, wearing leather armor and standing at attention with spears straight against their bodies. As you get closer, you notice a faint blue outline surrounding each one of them and not a one seems to breathe, move, or in fact, even be alive.
Please place yourselves on the north end of the map. You can be single file on the central causeway (which is 5' above the depressions to either side), or spread out within the depressions or on the plateaus to either side. I did this painstaking map with however-many icons before I realized they were not scimitar guys like the undead... but they are in stasis so it shouldn't matter, right?
Renard Thelas |
I cry foul if we have to fight so many of them at once. lol
Chandu |
Chandu will renew her heroism as we travel.
Take 10 on the Arcana check
These people are still alive, held in some strange magical stasis...They may have been here for thousands of years, forgotten and lost in time.
Renard Thelas |
"So they're not all going to break out of it and attack us? I think we can take them if they do though we'll need a better spot to defend."
GM Aldizog |
As Renard says that, the blue glow fades from ten of the soldiers, and they begin moving to attack!
In the distance, another humanoid figure moves among the many rows of warriors that are still in stasis.
Again, these are living human soldiers, not undead.

They look at their peers across the causeway and shout in a language that some of you may understand.
Ignatius is ready. He takes a step and swings, disrupting their formation by dropping one of the warriors.

@Jair, I had thought you wanted Blue to be your friend. (Magenta, Blue, and Grey all attacked you). Grey it is, if you wish.
@Chandu, I will let you retcon if Jair wishes Grey to be the Charmed one.
@Renard, I think you can just 5' step and attack (I allowed Ignatius to 5' step off the causeway). That means you can also get your iterative attack, if you wish.
Renard steps and swings, wounding one severely.
So after some clarification from you guys, then the "Other" bad guy will go.
Chandu |
If grey is controlled I will attack blue but it probably has cover from the warrior in stasis between me and it.
Renard Thelas |
Thank you. Then Additional attack on Blue.

Yellow Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Grey, being Charmed but not Dominated, will not actually attack his fellow soldiers, though he will stand idle for now, and could be persuaded to interfere with their attacks and keep Jair safe (using Aid Another to boost Jair's AC) with an opposed Charisma check. He regards Jair as a friend (though not the rest of you), and sees his friends fighting with each other. I suppose I could have him attack the other PCs... not sure.

The enemy caster finishes his second summons. Another fiendish wolf, more fiery than the last, appears and breathes a gout of flame at Renard!
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
Renard Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

The caster draws a rod and casts a spell on Renard.
Renard Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
He feels his limbs start to stiffen, but fights off the spell!
Okay, as to getting to this guy... I will say you can move through the soldiers in stasis, and even end your turn in their spaces, but doing so will count as Squeezing. Half movement speed, -4 to attack, -4 AC.
Or, you can take a standard action to shove one of them to the side and clear a space. That is an auto-success.
Or, you can stand on the rocks and attack, but that is an Acrobatics check at DC 10, and you lose your Dex bonus.
The rocks provide him Cover against ranged attacks.
