New thread, to properly match campaign name and thread names.

Just moments ago, Venture-Captain Adril Hestram stood beside you inside the great hall of the Grand Lodge in Absalom and said, “Good luck and gods speed. Find out what you can and get back in one piece.”

With that, a masked member of the Decemvirate, gender and race impossible to determine under black cloth and an ornate face mask, muttered an incantation and teleported you nearly a thousand miles south, to the northern frontier of the necromantic nation of Geb.

Just 24 hours ago, messengers from the Decemvirate banged on your door and demanded your presence at the Grand Lodge. Venture-Captain Hestram, it seemed, had received an important bit of news about work that a Nethys cleric Pathfinder named Rijana was doing in the Mana Wastes—important enough to summon you at such an early hour and demand your preparedness for a new mission assignment. “Rijana is one of the best scholars on arcane mysteries that we have,” said Hestram as he paced back and forth. He shook a thin sheaf of papers in his hand. “This missive from her hand just a month ago tells a daring tale of hidden dimensions in the Mana Wastes that could be used to return magic once again to that failed, desolate garbage heap. I could care less about restoring magic there—but I care a lot about what bizarre ruins and hidden sanctums might have been concealed there while magic lay dormant. I haven’t the time to waste to send another message back and await its answer—I’ve asked a Decemvirate member, a powerful wizard, to teleport you to Rijana’s last known location, a dusty hamlet on the edge of the Wastes in northern Geb called Geb’s Rest. I’m sending the lot of you because Geb is dangerous, the Mana Wastes are deadly, and I want this thing done right.”

Hestram snorted. “Well, I at least want it done. You lot will have to do. Get to Geb’s Rest, find Rijana, and bring back whatever notes she’s got in her journals about the Mana Wastes. She should have four journals if my memory of her bizarre organizational skills is correct—I want all four of them. Tell her I’m reviewing them for inclusion in the Pathfinder Chronicles, I don’t care. Just bring them back. Now get yourself ready to go—you can’t buy a decent potion within a hundred miles of this backwater dust pile.”

There are no Knowledge spoilers for this one, but you are all experienced Pathfinders with access to the Grand Lodge, so you know the basics about Geb, Nex, and the Mana Wastes.

And we begin in medias res, presumably for the sake of moving things along without a long Q-and-A session with Adril Hestram, so make any purchases you like at the outset.

A bit of GM editorial...
"Just this once," adds the Venture-Captain, "we have made reasonably sure that we are not teleporting you directly into combat. You're welcome."

Make any purchases you wish, but be aware that magic is uncertain in the Mana Wastes. Accordingly, please include in your profile your statistics as they would be in an Antimagic Field. I have a link to the slides up, with a map and Init/Perception blocks, as well as your icons. We will begin with the adventure proper once you announce you are all ready.

I've shared a chart of my most common combat bonuses with you. AMF bonuses are on the right side of the sheet.

Ignatius will purchase:

Upon meeting the other Pathfinders, a soft-spoken human dressed in plate mail smiles shyly. He bows slightly and offers a brief, polite introduction: "Greetings, friends. I am Ignatius. I hope Rijana is alright."

He thinks to himself. "These seem like talented field agents. Sarenrae willing, I'm sure all will be well. Perhaps it's just the vagaries of the mana wastes that prevent magical communication with Rijana."

A tall, broad shouldered and dark skinned half elven woman joins the group. An adamantine longspear rests lightly across her shoulders.

The mana wastes eh, well, this promises to be interesting. I am all set to go.

Jaïr is a petite woman in simple black robes who highlights her silhouette. She had pale complexion but her charming smile and her simple green make-up make her immediately friendly.
At her side, a short sword and several wands.
Around her neck a strange pendant with ancient osiriani designs. The tip of her fingers are lightly blackened by ink, as if she have passed several time in libraries, copying or scribing books.

As the group get together, Jair happily says Lass!

She approaches the fiery woman, hugging her in a very friendly manners.

Happy to be with you again! Our last mission was successful, despite the fact I was sure it was doomed, like this one. May be we will be lucky again.

Seeing Chandu she adds, Another mission together. Glad to have you on board.

In addition to her black tunic, she has a strange belt with a devil's head that seems to looks at you.

Turning to the other she says I'm Jair Whisper. Even If I know this mission is doomed from the start, It have been an honor to make your acquaintance.

She then bows to the Venture Captain Hestram. Interesting Captain, I understand why this seems quite important. This part of the world is already doomed, and even if I see no hope in our work, I will do my best do complete the mission.

You arrive at the desolate town of Geb's Rest, also known as the Bitter End, and are not immediately attacked. Hooray for the Society!

In the distance lies a squat, tumble-down hovel comprised of a few turrated domes, a collection of ramshackle huts, a solid, two-story inn, dusty red streets, and a large central fountain.

There are maybe four dozen intact buildings scattered about the town, with the central hub largely surrounded by weed-choked ruins of a time when the town was more prosperous.

As you approach, you see no signs of life. No people, no animals, no birds. The entire town seems silent and vacant.

Please place your icons on the map. I try to make a habit of updating the map link to point to the current slide. You're near one edge of the map to start, but I'll let you pick which one.

Chandu takes up a position to the front of the group. It looks like there is some sort of central area ahead of us, a fountain of some sort. Let us explore...

Chandu likes to be at the front. Chandu has combat reflexes, 10' reach and a dex of 14. I will keep up shield, at least for the first 5 minutes or so.

Chandu takes the lead with her longspear, Ignatius and Renard right behind.

Magic seems to work in the Bitter End, and Chandu's wand functions.

Will just give some time for Lasaraleen and Jair to weigh in and do any preparations, then move things along later tonight.

Lasaraleen assesses the ruins.

By the Dawn! This place could use a woman's touch!

She will gather as many around her as she can and cast protection from evil circle (extended via rod).

Now, let's see what still dwells here, if anything dares.

She will draw her own scimitar as she looks into the gloom.

perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

As the party approaches the fountain, Chandu can see something in the fountain itself. And other things besides...

Perception for everyone else:

Chandu: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

Everybody except Ignatius spots the creatures crouching in the shadows. There are seven of them, and they look like humans wielding scimitars. As they jump into action, you can tell that they also look dead, but not shambling.

DC 15 Knowledge (Religion):
These are juju zombies. For every 5 that you beat the DC, you may know one useful fact about them.

Also moving into action is a towering skeletal creature inside the blacksmith shop to the east (down on the map).

DC 19 Knowledge (Planes):
This is an Osyluth, also known as a Bone Devil. For every 5 that you beat the DC, you may know one useful fact about them.

Ware friends, enemies abound! shouts Chandu. Let the enemy come to us and so have them taste my spear! She quickly casts a spell to enhance her allies and then the tip of her spear erupts into golden light.

Taking 10 on religion and planes for 20 on each with heroism (as a Bard I can always take 10 even when distracted). Feel free to tell us useful stuff. Chandu starts to inspire courage (+2/2 as a move action), casts haste on everyone (standard) and activates arcane strike (swift). She has up to 3 opportunity attacks which I will put in a spoiler below.

Opportunity attacks:

Attack bonus: Bab +8, str +6, magic weapon +3, inspire +2, heroism +2, haste +1, power attack -3 for +19
Damage bonus: str +9, magic weapon +3, inspire +2, power attack +9, arcane strike for +3 for +26

Chandu recalls that juju zombies are immune to cold, electricity, and Magic Missile, as well as resistant to weapons other than enchanted blades. DR/magic and slashing.

She knows that the other creature is a Bone Devil, but does not recall its specific capabilities.

Also, sorry, my mistake - this is a Surprise Round, so Chandu can take a single action (either move or standard, in addition to her swift).

@GM I think that the Bone Devil needs to make a Concentration Check.
Spell: If you are affected by a spell while attempting to cast a spell of your own, you must make a concentration check or lose the spell you are casting.
If the spell interferes with you or distracts you in some other way, the DC is the spell’s saving throw DC + the level of the spell you’re casting. For a spell with no saving throw, it’s the DC that the spell’s saving throw would have if a save were allowed (10 + spell level + caster’s ability score). DC is 22 for Prayer

I am not certain that Prayer counts as interfering or distracting the target sufficiently to force a Concentration check, but very well.

@Jair, I have not seen this feat in action before, but I believe they all must save, and if more HD than you can control fail the save, you can choose which ones to keep under your control? Will resolve it that way. With a 30' burst it looks like you can affect Orange, Red, and Brown; White has total cover, while Teal and Black are more than 30' away.
