Mimi de Valence |
Paizo Handle: Palandri
Character Name: Mimi de Valence
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 2380483-2007 (Horizon Hunters)
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Human (Martial Disciple) Swashbuckler 1

Performance: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 (trained)
Success: 0.4gp earned
Standard disclaimer:
I'm currently living in Spain and as such, may have strange posting times compared to the rest of you. If other PbP adventures I've played in are anything to go by, most of you are likely to be posting from North America somewhere. I am some 9 hours ahead of Pacific time and 6 hours ahead of Eastern time, so I go to bed sometime in your mid-afternoon and get up sometime in the very early morning.
Valdris |
Paizo Handle: Michael_Hopkins
Character Name: Valdris Heartwell
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 97978-2003 Horizon Hunters
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Human Field Medic Wizard 2
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: Lore Warfare Level 1, DC 15
Lore Warfare: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
(trained)
Success: 1.6 gp earned
My posting can be erratic as I am a truck driver, but I try to get at least one post done daily. I check multiple times a day, but generally won't post twice in a row so others have a chance to post.
Assurence on Treat Wounds meets the threshold DC of 15, so I won't bother rolling unless specified. I can treat wounds every 10 minutes, so if there is long bits of down time, I can heal us all up.
Brimley Greybeard |
Paizo Handle: Timingila
Character Name: Brimley Greybeard
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 179516-2001 Horizon Hunters
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Gnome Aspiring Free Captain Rogue 2
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: Performance (trained) level 0, DC 14
Performance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Success: 0.4 gp
I’ve played and GM’d a decent amount of PF2 (3-glyph GM, so I have extra Hero Points to hand out when we start :-) ), and I’ve played on Discord a fair amount, but this is my first Paizo forum game, so I will certainly mess up the text formatting on occasion. I apologize in advance.
I’m your typical dork with a desk job in US Central timezone, so I’ll be pretty active during office hours and reasonably active in the evenings.
Duncan Veritan |
Paizo Handle: Thralleon
Character Name: Duncan Veritan
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 146509-2001 Horizon Hunters
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Human (Half-elf) / Sailor / Swashbuckler 1
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: Lore, sailing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, trained/Level 0/DC 14/failure, 8 cp
I'm a nice mix of Brimley and Valerie, working a desk job for a trucking company. I can post at least once daily. This will only be my 4th PF2 session, 1 homebrew that got nixed by covid and 2 other pfs here on the boards. If anyone has purchase suggestions let me know. Duncan has ~28 g lying around and I'm not sure what to put it towards.
Clem Alleman |
Paizo Handle: Nick Baumeister
Character Name: Clem Alleman
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 93024-2002 Horizon Hunters
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Human Cultist Bard 1
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: Spreading the news of the end times, which everyone takes as a comedy act so Perform: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Trained, Level 0, DC 14, Crit Success, 16sp worth of coppers, acorns, chewing gum wrappers, and glass bottles he can recycle
First time play-by-post, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes I might make. I work nights and live on the US East Coast, so my posting times will likely be odd but I will be around plenty.
Clem will provide inspiring rhetoric or words that soothe your aches and pains. However, he babbles incoherently so if what he says makes enough sense to have an effect on your character that should say a lot about them.
Mimi de Valence |

There are a couple of things about Mimi that I forgot to mention:
Mimi speaks Taldane (ie. Common) with a strong Galtan accent and throws in the occasional (common) Galtan (ie. French) exclamation as required (eg. "En Garde!"). Just imagine Poirot or Inspector Clouseau reading the lines in a faux French accent and you'll get the idea. If this becomes too annoying, please let me know and I'll tone it down or eliminate it altogether.
Mimi has the Incredible Initiative feat, so her initiative rolls get a +2 circumstance bonus added to them.
Hornietelle |
Paizo Handle: Deevor
Character Name: Hornietelle
PFS / Character Number / Faction: 12784-2004 Grand Arhive
Character Ancestry / Background / Class / Level: Elf(Whisper) - Noble - Cloistered Cleric(Calistra)/2
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: Aids in the performance at religious ceremonies, Perform 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 DC14 0.4 gp
Valdris |
I'll get a good post in later tonight. Got into an impromptu shopping trip with the s/o, but should have a good post in a few hours.

Yep
Hornietelle |
I am assuming that it is sometime during the day and visibility is good outside? Hornietelle will follow Duncan, if he enters by the main door. If dark inside, she will take out her wayfinder, if it's dim light or better she will just use her elven sight.
Valdris |
Sorry for the absence! Family emergency and no signal kinds buggered things up! I am back though!

For the record, I would have been more than happy to weave all six of the river freedoms into Mimi's attempts to influence the rebels, but unfortunately, she (and Duncan) did not originally know of the freedoms and thus did not gain the +1 bonus of using them in speech.
Hornietelle was kind enough to give a long-winded explanation of the freedoms (which Mimi admittedly didn't pay a great deal of attention to), but this apparently did not officially confer the +1 circumstance bonus to Mimi (that I heard, anyway).
Fortunately, Mimi did not need it this time, but with Brimley and Clem left to try for Make an Impression, I suggest that they do their best to mention a river freedom in their attempts to make Chops friendly; I'm pretty sure Hornietelle can take it all the way to helpful once that's accomplished... otherwise we may end up having to fight our way out of here against ugly odds.

Bot Tree
In the event a PC is "up" for more than 24 hours, this is a buddy system where players vouch to "bot" the missing player alphabetically before and after (and wrapping around) their own PC's name. To assist when you are out, please house "botting instructions" in your character's profile:
Brimley
Clem
Duncan
Hornietelle
Mimi

I apologize, I used my day off to sleep in and instead slept for nearly 30 hours. Imagine my suprise!
I've done things similar to that, and it's very startling.
DM rainzax |
Opening the thread here for tactical discussion, or clarifying questions on the map.
To the latter, as concerns distance and space, use your best judgement, I will tend to side with that if there is ambiguity!

If this encounter is meant to be pairs of combatants in one-on-one stand-and-strike situations until either PC or rebel goes down, then that's fine, but Swashbucklers tend to be all about precision movement and positioning to optimize their effectiveness. For example, is there space to go around Belen, or are the fire and barn door in the way? Figuring out flanking is also going to be difficult once Mimi is on the move as she tries to give flanking support when possible, especially for her rogue companions.
It is going to be awkward and time-consuming to figure things out on the fly without a proper map, but we can give it a try. Maybe everything will work out fine.
It's late here, so I'm going to bed. I'll put out Mimi's turn in the morning.
Mimi de Valence |
Nice! I like the new map. Thanks for putting that together for us.
I forgot that Mimi picked up a +1 shortsword in the old lodge. She might have been able to put it to good use here, though her training has made her a little prejudiced against such crude implements. Maybe next time.

Holy emasculation Batman! No need to apologize.
If Valdris hadn't finished off Chops, he would probably have killed himself after those two quips.
Valdris |
Holy stick in a mud pit, cell service was horrible. Verizon needs to up their signal in the northern states..... Sorry about my absence!
As for botting Valdris, Cantrips are my things unless someone gets hurt, then I'll use Battle Medicine which auto succeeds.
Also, as a side note, I don't have telekinetic projectile, unfortunately.
Mimi de Valence |
Also, as a side note, I don't have telekinetic projectile, unfortunately.
Shoot. I could have sworn I saw telekinetic projectile on your profile. I strongly suggest that you pick it up at some point; it is the go-to damage dealing cantrip for arcane spellcasters at low levels.
I suppose instead, that you could expand the Magic Missile spell to 3-actions and send the first two into Mildred for 2d4+2 damage. With a little luck it will have the same final effect as the telekinetic projectile (ie death). Or you could send all 3 missiles into Mildred and leave Chops prone for Hornietelle to deal with.
Chill Touch might work too as I suspect their Fortitude saves are worse that the pretty decent Reflex saves they would use against Electric Arc.
Anyway, now that you're back I'll leave it up to you to fix up my mess. Sorry about that.
Mimi de Valence |
I have a question for DM rainzax. If Mimi decides to try throwing her main-gauche at an opponent, would that be allowed? If so, what would that look like?
The Improvised Weapons rules state that the attack roll would take a -2 penalty; no problem. But what type of base weapon would it become? Would it behave like a Dagger with Thrown 10ft and doing 1d4 P damage, or are we talking about a Club with Thrown 10ft and doing 1d6 B damage? Or something else?
Valdris |

Yeah, I plan on picking it up on the next chance I get it. No worries though, thanks for the botting! Let us see how the 3 cast MM does, shall we?

Nice! Your first two missiles did exactly the damage of the phantom telekinetic projectile. This means that the third missile can be used on Chops once Mildred goes down, and the GM won’t even have to redo his post.
Mimi de Valence |
Ugh. I was afraid that the 7th rebel would get lucky with flanking and take Mimi out. If Valdris could see his way to resuscitating Mimi with Battle Medicine this round, Mimi would dearly love to repay her attackers.
Mimi de Valence |
Is the encounter over? Did the Seventh Rebel get away clean? The map still shows him in the same spot.
Because Mimi with Panache can move 35ft and she's not just going to let the Seventh Rebel run away after stabbing her in the back; not if she can do something about it.
