Sorry, all. I'll try to get my posts in tonight, tomorrow morning (US Mountain time) at the latest.
I am probably going to assume Luci wants a hit from my Greater Invis wand. He has no other buffs except haste.
Gotta be careful of Grunjar's Invisibility Purge, though!

![]() |

@Ryu:
The rules say one can only attempt to trip a creature one size larger than oneself.
(I'm not sure what size the linnorm is - can you enlighten us, GM supervillan?)
Some creatures cannot be tripped at all (e.g. flying).
Also, if I am not mistaken, you can only attempt a trip or bull rush on a full attack.
Finally, failing a trip attempt by 10 or more is bad for you, so please be careful with it.
Did they nerf Trip when converting from 3.5 to Pathfinder?
I remember it being quite good...

![]() |

@GM supervillan:
Small correction to the buffs: Rallas is flying, not Ryu.
@all: Grunjar's Invisibility Purge has a radius of 30 feet (6 squares).

![]() |

That's right, size. The post mentions "colossal size". Please disregard. Also, AC is 25 with the haste but I have a feeling that might not matter.

GM supervillan |

The linnorm that you are fighting it Huge - a "full" linnorm is Colossal, and the image in the clouds is that of a full linnorm.
Linnorms are serpentine in form (despite having forelegs) and cannot be tripped. They also fly (supernaturally) though this "linnorm vestige" begins on the ground.

![]() |

Ouch! Ryu, that must have hurt... but you still have the BoL talisman.
Despite this, I think Grunjar's best action would be to give Myth (who can make a hasted full attack next round) a bit of luck.
With reach and combat reflexes, the linnorm would take me out in no time if I engaged it or tried to heal Ryu.
Any objections?
Edit:
The invisibility purge will only suppress (and not dispel) the Greater Invisibility - that Lucifer is going to get - as long as he stays near me.
Is that correct, GM supervillan?

![]() |

Your buff post didn't mention Displacement, Inga.
You're right.
She had the intention to cast it, though - see discussion post.
![]() |

Just an idea, but if Inga were to cast Improved Invisibility upon Myth, he'd get his sneak attack damage (3d6) added on any hits...

![]() |

Oops, I had totally intended to have displacement on Klaus. I did place it in his "active conditions" with all the other buffs. If it's an issue since I forgot in my buff post, then, no prob.

![]() |

I’ll await to see how Grunjar withstands the dragon breath (and if he continues to grant Myth a bit of luck) before posting my action...roll high, Grunjar!

![]() |

Unfortunately, I did not. :-(
Thanks to the reroll, at least the scroll I'm carrying will not burn...
The channel combined with Rallas' CLW should put Ryu in positive HP.

Klaus the Phantom |

Vital strike says "when you use the attack action you can make one attack that deals more damage". It doesn't say anything about being just a standard action. One attack in a full-attack can use Vital strike, and then, since I gad an extra attack with haste, I was able to use vital strike with that.
Edit: hang on I'm looking up clarifications on the Paizo boards for this.

GM supervillan |

That is wholly incorrect Klaus.
You make a single attack that deals significantly more damage than normal.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When you use the attack action, you can make one attack at your highest base attack bonus that deals additional damage. Roll the weapon's damage dice for the attack twice and add the results together before adding bonuses from Strength, weapon abilities (such as flaming), precision based damage, and other damage bonuses. These extra weapon damage dice are not multiplied on a critical hit, but are added to the total.
Bolding mine.
"The attack action" is defined in the Combat section of the Core Rulebook (see p.181). "Attack" is a standard action. "Full attack" is a full round action. Vital Strike refers to the former.

Klaus the Phantom |

Ah yeah. I'm looking up clarifications on the Paizo boards now and yeah, pretty interesting. I always assumed it was just one attack including in a full round action.
My bad. ;)
Quick question: would vital strike work on the hasted second attack?
What about an attack of opportunity since that's a single attack?

I don't think so, because those are not standard actions.
Vital Strike is good for charging or if you have to move before (or after) attacking where you cannot make a 5 foot step - e.g. on difficult terrain (e.g. stairs).

@Inga, please add 9 HP to your HP total. Desna's light healed you, too. ;-)
@Myth, just for info: Haste also adds +1 to Reflex saves.
Also, bit of luck was still in effect, so you could have rolled twice.
Fortunately, it did not matter now, but it might come up again.
Grunjar will post in gameplay later today.

Vital strike doesn't work on a charge. Charge is its own full round action, vital strike only works on an "attack" action.
And... linnorm defeated!

Yahoo! :-D
PS: I lied. Will post in gameplay on Sunday...

![]() |

Grunjar would ask the High Priestess to cast a Zone of Truth - if nobody is against it, of course.
It does not hamper Diplomacy checks, right? *looks to GM*
Also, Grunjar is prepared to cast Calm Emotions if necessary.

![]() |

I assume i have recovered the lost DEX point by now?
No need to assume. ;-) Grunjar cast Lesser Restoration on you after removing Myth's curse.

![]() |

Sorry! Been busy. I'll get a post in later today.

GM supervillan |

Ahem. Well, the scenario specifically limits Aids in this scene to 1 per check, unless you are doing something collaborative like retelling the battle with the linnorm through a kabuki theatre performance :)
Not to worry though, you have dispelled the false legend of the Jarlsblood Witch with a full success!
Success Conditions
Pathfinders succeed in their primary mission (for 1PP) if they successfully dispel the false legend in the Council meeting (this requires meeting at least 4 specific conditions, such as returning the Coalbraid relics and having the huldra give her own account).
Pathfinders succeed in their secondary success condition by fulfilling at least two of the following three objectives: cooperate with Kolvi's spirit to fight the linnorm vestige, learn at least seven tales or rumours from Frostbreach (in the early investigation), or meet at at least six of the success conditions whilst dispelling the legend. You met all three objectives :)
There are several nice boons on the chronicle sheet. You can get discounted linnorm hide armour and access to two weapons that are not normally PFS legal - the butchering axe and the orc hornbow. The chronicle allows retraining of a feat to gain Exotic Weapon Proficiency. However you can only purchase the versions of the weapon on the chronicle (though each can be further enchanted).

GM supervillan |

If you have not already rolled Day Jobs please do so now.
You may also roll for Outpost boons: a 19 or a 20 wins a boon, roll 1d2 to see which one.
GM also gets a roll:
boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 3

What an awesome and highly memorable game! I'm putting this scenario into my top five favorites!
(An epic snowball fight with a huldra disguised as a ghost? C'mon!)
Outstanding performances, everyone!
Supervillan, I am eternally grateful for your help in getting Inga's & Klaus' sheets squared away. Thank you so much for taking the time.
Yes, you gain your own Ulfen Guard bodyguard!
Haha! Another member for Inga's entourage! Hilarious!
That orc hornbow will be nice for one of my archer PCs. Luckily I have the "share the wealth" boon to pass it along. :)@GM: Would that last diplomacy check I made be considered to
"Dissuade an NPC from working with an organization that directly opposes the Pathfinder Society or The Sovereign Court's goals during an adventure by presenting the NPC with evidence that doing so is contrary to her interests."?
It's for my Faction Journal card.
Also, I get to fulfill two boxes/scenario and the other would need to involve "A named NPC ambassador, aristocrat, noble, or similar figure."
So here goes:
Inga approaches Lirall the Pathfinder gnome in Iceferry before heading back to Abdalom. Inga explains that Lirall's help would be greatly appreciated if she sent letters to Lady Gloriana with the names and descriptions of any Taldan nobles passing through Iceferry.
Knowledge (nobility) & guidance; DC = 14+PC level (23 total): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Aww, man. One under. That sucks.
For Inga's Day Job:
Inga invites Lorian and Ifan, the proprietor of Stonefire's Supplies, to discuss business over drinks at the Linnorm's Tale Inn. Inga unfurls a map of her caravan's trade route and explains that she would like to meet for trading with Lorian's caravan every other month at Inga's base camp in central Varisia, preferably the 14th to the 16th of the month. Then she tells Ifan that she would like to visit his shop sometime during the first week of
Desnus and Arodus of each year ("late spring and late summer is best, too cold otherwise.") to trade for goods from Frostbreach to take back to the lower countries. "I believe this agreement would be beneficial to us all. I would bring goods from my travels to Lorian, and he would likewise do the same. Ifan here, would get his goods down into Absalom and the southern countries through my caravan. Well, gentlemen? Do we have an agreement? I would just need a small amount of starting gold.”
Diplomacy +12 (take 10) = 22 total.
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 15
As an aside...
Hooray! Inga is level 10 now!

GM supervillan |

"Dissuade an NPC from working with an organisation that directly opposes the Pathfinder Society or The Sovereign Court's goals during an adventure by presenting the NPC with evidence that doing so is contrary to her interests."?
It's for my Faction Journal card.
That goal appears to need a different skill: "This requires a successful Bluff, Intimidate, Knowledge (local), or Sense Motive check with a DC equal to 15 + your character level."
You can certainly attempt one of those checks though - the Coalbraids are (at the outset of the scenario) working against Sovereign Court goals.

which boon?: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Wow, lucky! :-D Praise Desna! Praise my Lady Luck! ;-)

@GM supervillan:
We did not fight a divine spellcaster whose patron is an evil deity (my last incomplete faction goal except for serving as a GM), did we?
Also, if you put purchases on the chronicle sheet, please include Grunjar's shopping spree.
Thank you!

Oh, man! I thought diplomacy was on that list of skills. Ok. Here goes...
Sense Motive DC 24: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Super sweet!

GM supervillan |

No evil divine spellcasters Grunjar, just a bunch of undead and a nearly-linnorm ;)
I don't record PCs purchases on chronicles, but you'll always have your record on your posting history (and you have your Inventory Tracking Sheet).

![]() |

Ok, thanks for the info.
I am also looking at the retraining rules because Grunjar's Ability Score Increase (level 4) most likely should and will be retrained...
In the PFS RP guide it says that a GM has to sign off on it.
Until when do you need to know?

GM supervillan |

If you want to do that now Grunjar I can mark the Prestige expenditure on your chronicle, otherwise ask your next GM to do so.
I'll aim to get chronicles done in the next few days, and will report the game before Outpost's official close on the 27th.

Lorian joined the Countess and Ifan for drinks. "Well, at this time my caravans mostly are run between Taldor and Janderhoff in eastern Varisia. I see no problem extending the route to connect with your base camp. As for capital, that can be arraigned but might take a bit due to the time and expenses of becoming a Senator. I have been tapped to be a junior member on the Foreign Affairs committee and suspect that I will be having to do the footwork for the other members. he said.
Thank you for running the game GM supervillian!

no day job...Rallas is a slacker in between missions...lol
looked up orc hornbow on AoN...nasty....Might retrain my one feat to get that...
GG guys...and thanks fir running this GM...now to decide what to level up as...decisions, decisions....

GM supervillan |

Boon Winners Lucifer and Grunjar please send me your email addresses, I need them to report the game so that you get your boons :)
(DM via the forum is fine).

Let's do it now.
Grunjar will spend 5 days to retrain the Ability Score Increase (level 4) +1 STR ===> +1 WIS.
PP spent: 5 (days)
Gold spent: 300 = 10 x 6 (current level) x 5 (days)
Also, I want to add that I enjoyed this game a lot! :-D I really would like to play another with you guys!
However, as some of our level 9 characters levelled up, it seems Grunjar needs to gain a level first. (He's only 1 XP short of level 7.)
Or are there any scenarios with a tier that includes level 6 and level 10?

![]() |

I'm happy to wait for you to level up. I do have several PCs of levels 5-9 that are waiting for adventures that would be happy to join you until Inga can adventure with you again.

![]() |

Thanks, guys! That sounds great! :-D
@Rallas:
Well, Mykel experienced the benefits of bit of luck first hand - I think he liked it well enough to get them again... ;-)

![]() |

One more to 9th here. Had a good time playing. I do have to say I have more fun playing Lorian in face to face sessions when I switch the two of them.
