SAFE PLAY
We have not discussed any scenes that might involve sexuality. I don't want to invite anything into the game that people find embarrassing or triggering. Please use whatever means you like to alter any part of the game you find unsafe. Please provide a safe space for people to say no to any part of our play that doesn't provide safety.
You can private message me or write in the discussion section. You can also use:
rewind - we will take the game back to a section before an event and take another path
stop - stop the game before we go in what you feel is an unhealthy direction
pause - put an element of play on hold until we've had a chance to discuss it or people have had an opportunity to think it over
change the channel - action happens discretely off screen
recast - take one element of the game and replace it/add another (if you don't like spiders then all of a sudden you're fighting poisonous lizards)
The porters for Zahra, Tymythy, and Cairee believe in free love and will offer an opportunity for anything you are up for. Hesitance or a no and they will not mention it again. They don't believe in pressure or obligation. All of the characters seem inexperienced and it feels like an interesting clash so I don't want to shy away from the story line, but it it up to you. The writing opportunity is there. Take it where you like. Don't go there if you are uncomfortable.
If you find it disturbing then I'm very sorry. This should have been something I discussed when we first started playing. Please use the stop command. I accept any boundaries you want to put in.

Well, as for my preferences… suggestive is more than fine, flirting and romance is OK (although I don’t think Tymyhty will be partaking much in either – he walks with the spirits, after all, until his quest is over, and procreation is a thing for the living). If things go beyond that and get particularly graphic… well, such things are to be enjoyed in privacy, not on an open forum.

Zahra al Asmar |

Did Zahra’s porter give her his name?
Also, just for my knowledge, are the porters assigned or will we have new ones each time? Just curious.
@Corey: I appreciate the care you are taking for this subject that may happen in the game.

Fascinating scoreboard!! A bit unfair though - every good teacher knows to provide a marking rubric when handing out the assignment so students know what/how they're being judged/scored. ;-P
I think there's a copy/paste error as the betting against the twins is in 2 teams' breakdown
Also, the other team that lost a member - they don't have anybody crossed out. Is that on purpose?

Cairee Featherfriend |

From Kamzar'gibil's relishing of telling you all about Silimiel's death you can infer that Silimiel died only a few days earlier and that he was alive in your time.
Does Cairee think this because she critically failed her roll, or did Silimiel really only die recently? If so I totally missed that, I thought he was an ancient ancestor long-since dead. Oops!

He is an ancient ancestor only recently dead having lived a long full dragon life.

Dounia had posted that she is hustling without running to Gossamer house gate. That's enough to get 40' outside of the circle.
Zahra - if you want to keep up with Dounia then you'll have to leave the circle, panicking or not.
Cairee - if you want to hold Dounia back then I'll need a post to the effect.
Tymythy - if the group leaves the circle and I don't hear from Tymythy then I'm boting him to follow. There's no way this guy would stay safe in the circle with his friends in danger.

No fever thus far, and actually managed to sleep in more than 30 min increments last night... perhaps this bloody virus is giving up on me. I'll see if I can get some posting done today.

GM Corey Homebrew |

If you've been caught you have the grappled condition - you:
cannot move
take a –4 penalty to Dexterity
–2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks (except to grapple or escape a grapple)
can take no action that requires two hands to perform.
A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 14+ spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.

I'm here, but work has been intense this week and I'm having trouble stringing sentences together. I'm hoping things will improve by Friday...

Tymythy-son-of-Stywyrt |

This bug is strange... I got over the worst symptoms a few days ago, but I'm just so damn tired all the time. Normally, it's downright bizarre for me to sleep more than 8 hours at the max in one night... but this past weel, I can sleep for 11 and wake up wanting to go right back to bed.

I fixed Dounia's ref save in the header. I had it correct on her profile, but had a typo on the header.
Dounia won't turn around to look, but will continue to try and free Tymythy and Zahra. That doesn't really give her anything to do with her move action, but she definitely doesn't want to know what's happening behind her.

GM Corey Homebrew |

Apologies everyone - I usually arrive at work early and fire off a post before the requests and tasks begin but have had to get right to work lately.
Everything has slowed down enough that I can get back to morning posts. I will do my best to keep the flow of the game going. I hope to keep a foundation of momentum so that you all can post at your leisure.
I recognize that people are busy/battling stress (both seasonal and otherwise)/dealing with F@#*!&G covid/ad astra. Post when you can and no pressure.

Thank ye.
Well, our celebrations tend to be a bit mild, compared to certain 4th of July parties at least, so if ours gets more than a half a minute of airtime, I'd be surprised ;^)

Tymythy-son-of-Stywyrt |

I assume we'd have had a few moments to compare notes during breakfast... we did a bit of discussion earlier, but didn't make a decision. So. Traps, riddles or another battle challenge? If things are getting worse each round, I vote for traps.

Tymythy-son-of-Stywyrt |

Aye, impressive preparation.
And lol... I certainly noticed the part about the hinge, but I assumed the lid would open after we solved the puzzle, to reveal a 3rd challenge ;^)

Tymythy-son-of-Stywyrt |

Balance the scales, I think. Perhaps using one of the combinations on the first face of the door, at least using the same rules – equal number of gold balls on both sides. But two issues with that – does any of the six combinations shown on the door work, or any at all that meets the “as many gold orbs on either side while using all 15 orbs” rule, or so we perhaps need to produce all the six settings one after another? And if opening and shutting the lid shuffles the balls still in the drum, and the buttons are used to swap gold into pearl (and back?), how do we know any given ball that drops is one we should use a button to transmute? Except drop one ball, open the lid, see what happened, close the lid, pull another lever. Rinse and repeat, and hope we get a version where all the gold balls drop first, and we know that just one pearl needs to be transformed… or something?

GM Corey Homebrew |

Hmm, trying to safecrack the device by sound.
The balls are 'fine' so DC+16.
There are two barriers but they are thin and one has little holes in it so: perception under terrible conditions DC+5.
The gold ball and the pearl ball will have a different sound so let's make that a DC-2.
To hear wether a single ball is gold or pearl is DC19.
As it would be very difficult to have two people with their ear pressed to the faceplate, only one person may make the check.
You will have to make the perception check for each ball but as you practice you will get better at it for a DC17.

GM Corey Homebrew |

Sorry to remind everyone but time is ticking.
Initial perception checks for the quick but thorough searches 1 full rnd
Dounia's 1st disable device check on a complex device - the door plate rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Tymythy's discovery of the rivets during Dounia's disable device check
Dounia's pulling the rivets while Cairee focuses for 3rnds with Detect Magic rounds +3 extra rivets: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Dounia's perception check 1 full rnd
Playing with the machine to learn it's workings on an extremely complex device rounds: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Time used to listen to the different balls rnds: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
1+2+7+1+5+5 = 21 rnds (2 minutes and 6 seconds)

Tymythy-son-of-Stywyrt |

Well... one solution would be to transmute exactly one orb - there were three gold ones, right. So either a gold turns pearl or other way around, giving us 2 or 4 gold orbs. Then, perhaps, trying to listen to know for sure but mostly just distribute the orbs, 7 on one side, 8 on other, and hope the gold ones ended up properly divided. Pull the center lever and hope ;-)

Zahra al Asmar |

My brother arrives in town today so I’ll be busy with family stuff until after Christmas. Please bot Zahra as necessary. Not that she has the skills to help with this anyways.
Also, she’s intrigued by everything that’s happening with the other teams :)
