Just so I understand, Randall died and his spirit is currently inhabiting the body of the ogre, and we are waiting to resolve this retreat to find all this out?

More or less I think. Basically either running or fighing. though we started to run , then seemed to shift back. So I'm not sure which we as a group are leanign towards. So i think its going to be up to individually whether we bail or fight.
Nathan, I believe, is also the last one with an action this round. But TLDR is indeed. Run vs Fight. Sgt died and possessing, but we think its another monster of some sort-or atleast zupon does

TBH I thought Nathan was already running ...

Correct. To be fair, part of this confusion is my fault, as I got something mixed up as I always do: incorporeal creatures aren't invisible, they're just inaudible (if they want to be).
So everybody should have seen him doing ghost things before.

@ Nathan. Last I knew you had only agreed it was time to run, but you're standing next to a goblinoid and haven't yet. Which I think is why Xeph stayed and stabbed? not sure. Just pov. But bailing is probably best!
@Storm Dragon. Ah is that so? I'd assume you'd just looked like a spirit mote but that was my own assumption too. That would change a bit then yep. Though Zupon would still have denied that for sure based on his history. if the ogre keeps failing his save and you manage to stab itself or lose its weapon this is probably doable if it ends up being a stay nd not run.
Depending on what folks do.

@Nathan: In terms of fleeing from combat, possibly having Nate use a full withdraw action to avoid getting hit again by purple goblin would place him 12 squares away; a standard action withdraw would have him move 6 squares away with another move action left over to use? Nathan's movement point of origin would be the square to the west of purple.
@Storm Dragon: Visually, I can picture a transparent, greyish likeness of Randall's face [possibly even neck and shoulder?] wavering in and out from the ogre's head; maybe some kind of take 10 on perception checks to notice? The DC might involve the ogre's hit-dice or something to that effect.

Once he's possessing the Ogre, he actually is undetectable unless you have some ability to detect possession (these abilities DO exist, but they're pretty niche).
except that would be for like a full-fledged long-term apparition with a lot of possession practice, not a recently dead guy with no practice ... right?
;)
#FULLwithdraw got it!

I think we can probably handwave it as him being missed in the scuffle of everyone moving around, and clarify it later.
Seeing the spirit of your recently fallen ally floating around without an explanation would require a fear or horror check in certain worlds... here, it's up to the individual to play their characters accordingly.

Zupon already had a minor internal freak out, called out a warning, and then steeled himself from his past~ so that'll stick for him at least.
Not the first ghost, nor dead ally, nor undead former ally, for the poor lil scholar.

Personally, I like the idea of the slapstick route.
The Party: "Oh my god! I can't believe Randall's dead...that was horrible. There was was SO MUCH BLOOD, what're we gonna tell his family? I'll miss him."
Randall's mangled, bloody spirit reveals itself: "Guys...I think I've turned into a ghost."
Party: "*sigh* I miss him so much I almost imagine I can hear his voice."
Randall: "I'm...I'm right here."
Party: *wistfully* "If I didn't know better, I'd think he was still among us..."

I'm still here but I was really hoping to see something from Nathan.
It's late here, so I'm not going to update the main thread tonight. Honestly, I think I should probably just call this now given all the interruptions we've had up until this point. But I'll let everyone know tomorrow. I'd rather not make a rash late night decision.

This is a fun PBP and setting and neat 3rd party showcase. But it has had the weird curse of a lot of oddities but not actually dying.
I like it but it tends to ebb and flow in odd ratios to life

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be a problem. I'm not even sure how I missed the post saying I needed to say more. I just sort of thought we were in another lull ... which in some ways I appreciate, kind of like what Zupon said.
Nathan runs.

At this point I'm sorry to announce that it's time to close up this game. The track record just isn't there. I speculate that the correlation between pbp game length and chance for real life interruption(s) is exponential, and we've certainly experienced enough of them at this point. Even if we were to give this another go, we'd probably lose another week for the ones that haven't reported in yet, which would just bring us back to step one. These interruptions only end up taxing the ones that are checking in or putting in the effort - such as Storm essentially crafting a new character.
Hopefully it was still enjoyable while it lasted. Given the state of the world, I figured we could all use the distraction during the lock downs.
If folks would like, we could circle back to discussing the balance of the classes as they played out, since that was the original intent. But I certainly understand if ending the game means not wanting to deal with any aspect of it further.

Okie Dokie boss. I"ve had a lot of fun over the ....2 and a quarter? years. but yep. I would agree its fades in and out with the variable chaos.
I'd be happy to talk about 3rd party classes and such. I'll post up something of my thoughts for Zupon's Scholar (sphere of power). As well as spruce up my memory on the other 3rd party and comment on them too.

Thank you, DM rel20, for running this adventure for the past couple of years and giving us players the opportunity to try out the various PF1e 3rd party classes out there. Thank you also to all my fellow 3rd-party PF1e players in this game, past and present, for helping to give some liveliness to this crazy adventure as we interacted with all the occurring events and each other, as well. :)
Had been slowing down my posting frequency due to RL [dealing with eldercare stuff with my family] and all. :(
In terms of the third party Kunoichi-Ninja class that Chigao utilzed, it didn't seem too out of place in comparison to Paizo's own Ninja Alternate Class; probably had a lot of side-grade class options that was made possible by the nature of the source material. Also got discover the existence of Genshin Impact due to some last minute fleshing out on in-character visual appearance as a minor bit of peripheral stuff. ;)

Scholar is an interesting class. I don't think it can be a full healer like its billed; not without making strong use of its Elixirs and the group itself relying on short breaks to remake them. That said. I think probably lv 8 + where it auto success Heal checks for its ability it will be pretty good off healer. Top off post battle sort of thing or emergency mid battle 'whups" issues fixing. Not that healing is a real thing in p1 combat (Ioutside of a few specific things like life oracle /skald passive healing or self healing build). The healer hand conduit feat basically the same but probably better overall even if its a full round.
The alchemical items are pretty neat though. They're basically renewable spells. At this level they are potent. if I had built Zupon as an AOE specific one he would have done quite well overall in damage.
While I chose an oddd weapon choice. I don't think they are decent enough at melee w/out the INT to hit/damage feats. WHich if they were wanting to sink 3 into it. Could make one heck of a alch thrower-crossbower.
Spheres is potent, I don't think its overly so though. At the end point of pathfinder 1 the power creep was enough that it really isn't as strong as previous. I think its highlyh customizable which is the best thing about it. Also being mundane not magic is neat.
I def could break Zupon if I built him. but thats true of anything. So ultimately I think it provides a good set of tools to be a classic non magical alchemist-item user.
I don't like some sphere's spheres though. I like the outset of it but some of the non standard to Pf1things felt weird. Not sure i can phrase that wthough

Scholars are big skill monkeys so they can combine Salve healing WITH stuff like Healer's Hand + Incredible Healer. The combination of those two Feats makes mundane healing arguably miles better than magical healing in most respects. You can take a full round action to heal ~80-100 with a check at pretty reasonable levels.

Actually the Scholar's healer ability has very little interaction with almost all of the Heal Skill feats (other than the ones that help the roll directly). Off hand, almost all the ones I can think of specifically improve the Treat Wounds action of Heal skill. The scholar abilty does not do Treat Wounds.
Nothing but pure skill point rolling boosts will apply to this (Spheres may have more but i'm referring to paizo pathfinder).
Medical Training (Ex)
The scholar may use her Intelligence modifier in place of her Wisdom modifier as her associated ability score modifier with the Heal skill. In addition, the scholar may expend one use of a healer’s kit and make a special DC 15 Heal check on an ally as a standard action that provokes an attack of opportunity; if this check is successful, the ally recovers 1 hit point +1 for each point by which the scholar exceeds the DC. If the scholar has at least 5 ranks in the Heal skill, she may instead use this ability to restore 1 point of ability damage +1 point for every 5 points by which she exceeds this ability’s DC. The scholar can only attempt to heal a particular creature with this ability a number of times per day equal to her Intelligence bonus (minimum 1). Attempting to heal a creature but failing to meet the DC of this ability still counts towards this daily total.
but ultimately the biggest issue is the inability to handle things other than HP damage in a meaningful way. Though some healing items can help out. Sugeon tools for isntance.
It can take healer's hands and all that. But thats the same as any other paizo official class. So I'm not touching on that build specifically as it already exists and is arguablly the comparison point. This is free w/ a standard action of the class, and the comaprison point is a full round w/ several feats. So its not bad standard at all
It can heal a lot of hp and is a great secondary emergency hp patch. Those rolls can get huge later on (i.e. my life oracle before at lv 12 could roll upwards of 45 unoptimized which is good healing standard action w/ the above abilty) but I think it'd be better built as a ranged damager w/ a focus on the AOE weapon, and the application of coatings on something like a crossbow/bow/throwing arrow situation for some decent damage.

Ultimately several old ones. But this one eventually
When DJPIKA marks the campaign 'inactive' it will move down to Previous Campaigns and not take up space in our main view; once a campaign is down there, a 'hide' link appears next to it so that it doesn't need to be displayed anymore (there is also a Show Hidden link so that we can see them again on a one-off basis)

You can also go to the main PBP page, hit "Focus", find this thread, and hit the little O with a slash through it to hide the campaign manually.
