Though in darkness, Panarug hears the punishment that the two in the frontline are suffering. He soon hears the familiar sounds of healing magic being cast, and so turns his attention to Vixnax, quickly pulling out various ointments and tinctures to address his wounds...

Cast Guidance on Klank. GM, guidance targets 1 creature, which technically speaking requires line of sight. But since Klank is adjacent, would you allow it? If not, then just ignore. Panarug doesn't have anything to do with 1 action, and wants to stay adjacent to Klank in case need to do more healing.

Vixnax has a little trouble warming up his tail for battle, but the second lash slices the mushroom cap off of the red-striped Abyssal mushroom. This results in an explosion of caustic spores the fills the stairwell. He tries to catch the blue-striped mushroom with the backswing, but he is too busy trying to not cough.

Travis, being in complete darkness and not having dark vision needs to guess where Klank is precisely. (Bot-concealment roll: Flat DC 11: 1d20 ⇒ 20) Some of that halfling luck kicks in and he manages to direct his spell into the right being.

Panarug tries patching up Vixnax in the dark and manages something beneficial. His zombie, meanwhile, turns its attention to the (functionally) remaining demon mushroom and sinks its fist through the rubbery skin.

Faerinaa listens to the sounds of combat coming from the darkness, wincing as he companion calls for healing. "Damnit, I hate not being able to see."

Faerinaa creeps up along the wall, feeling the edge. Unsure which side the enemy may be on, she moves immedaitely to the right and tries to flip over the area just past where Vixnax was standing, seeking to get clear of the darkness and the stairs.

Faerinaa finds her path unimpeded--beyond the giant-sized steps--and might be surprised to find a zombie standing outside the sphere of darkness if she could see at all.

As the spores begin to germinate and the microscopic filaments begin to infiltrate his eyes, he finds his vision clouding and blurring.

The Abyssal fungus' tendrils flail about in all directions. The zombie is cracked across its jaw, though it likely fails to care. Faerinaa feels something powerful slam into the back of her neck painfully. Vixnax ducks under a wayward swipe.

Glad to still be alive, Klank wipes the spores out of his eyes and drops his broken shield to the ground. He draws out his backup/second favorite and hacks back at the Cyan Fungus before raising up his shield to defend himself. "One down, and two left!"

Feeling faint from the poison coursing through his body, Panarug nonetheless gathers himself sufficiently to yell at his zombie to continue attacking.

Paralyzed by fear of the darkness and the strange otherworldly fungi, Olyse finally shakes her head and comes to her senses. She carefully steps down the stairs and lets her former lights wink out, then recasts her Dancing Lights, bringing one into existence just in front of herself, while the other two orbs appear in a line moving up the stairs ahead.

Panarug's minion zombie finds the rubbery flesh of the Abyssal mushroom unyielding. Meanwhile, the half-orc performs a swift bit of healing and makes Klank feel as good as new. By the time he finishes, his body has fought off the invasive spores trying to eat his eyes and his vision clears.

Vixnax feels his eyes burning as the spores germinate, but he fights on and tries to pulverize the demonic fungus. Unfortunately, he finds the flesh as unyielding as Panarug's zombie. His next strike, though, manages to crumple the fungus' resistance. Then he finds unyielding rubber once more.

Olyse rematerializes and summons light on the higher side of the stairs, illuminating the outside of the sphere of darkness for Travis. She is still caught in darkness unless she presses her face to the wall for a sliver of light and so may be unaware that her magic worked.

Looks like Vixnax is running low and I've already attempted Battle Medicine on him. GM, not sure if you would allow this because I forgot to set it up explicitly earlier. I usually have Fharan, Panarug's stoat familiar with manual dexterity, hold onto a potion of healing. So that with an action to command, he'll run to an injured teammate and feed him the potion with its 2 actions. If not allowed, Panarug will use Cackle to sustain the zombie (instead of using an action to do so), then use 2 actions to draw and feed Vixnax himself. Either way...

Let's go with the Cackle route for parity.

Panarug applies a potion to Vixnax to keep the kobold on his feet.

The Abyssal mushroom on the stairwell flails about with its tentacles. One tentacle slams into the zombie with such force that it drives the splattered remains into the crevices between the stone bricks (critical hit). Faerinaa barely makes it out of the way of another tentacle. Vixnax parries a third tentacle.

A third Abyssal mushroom moves across the ceiling and wall to stand perpendicular just over Klank's head. It spits out a pellet from one of its vents. The pod cracks Olyse in the head and explodes in a puff of spores (critical hit).

Travis tries to cast dancing lights in his wooziness, thinking maybe it can get rid of some of the darkness.

Klank raises his shield up just enough to protect his eyes from the puff of spores raining down. "We got another one on the ceiling that just woke up!" He shifts a bit in his armor, getting restless as the others are getting worn down. He strikes out twice with his battle axe vs Cyan, eyeing up yellow if the first one does the job.

Those of you with the Persistent Poison Damage make DC 15 Flat Checks (raw d20s) at the end of your turns to see if the condition simply ends. This is not the poison affliction. It's the poison damage type, which I understand is confusing. So antidotes won't help with the flat checks.

Faerinaa cannot seem to find her prey in the dark side of the hall. Meanwhile, Travis creates his own lights within the sphere of darkness only to find that his magic is not powerful enough to overcome the demon fungus'. The fungus also begins to spread across his eyeballs and face.

Vixnax swings away at the fungus, and his second strike is as true as it can be, but it seems to lack some of the force (minimum damage critical hit, lament).

Klank shrugs off the aggressive demon spores like a good dwarf ought, and then he gets to chopping down mushrooms. His first swing sinks into the pulpy flesh. His second swing decapitates the mushroom (critical). The tentacles writhe under the severed mushroom cap for a moment before shriveling away.

Vixnax, I still have a scroll of soothe to keep you on your feet, but I can't see you in the darkness. If you come out into the light next round, I'll cast it on you.

Although Panarug is not able to see anything, he nonetheless feels his zombie destroyed as the spirits that gave it form rushes back into his body. He stumbles a bit as he collects himself, then moves past Klank to get back into the light, immediately turning around to face the remaining fungus.

First, he sends his spirits to harass the creature.

Then, not seeing anybody else, he gestures at Faerinaa, as a swarm of spirits surround her, boosting her effects.

Klank swipes at the scuttling mushroom, but his axe bounces off of the rubbery chitin. After it bashes Olyse, he continues to hack at it. The first strike manages to cut into its pulpy stalk, and the second strike goes deeper.

Faerinaa strikes out blindly into the darkness.

Vixnax manages to land a powerful kick that bruises the fungal pulp. His second strike bounces off. He then drinks a potion, which restores some of his vigor even as the Abyssal fungus hyphae eat away at his face (need your DC 15 flat check).

Panarug patches Olyse, which must be an odd sensation, and keeps the spirits harrying the mushroom.

Vixnax moves down the hall and delivers a devastating kick to the Abyssal mushroom, which causes it to explode in a cloud of spores. The darkness blinks out with its demise, just in time for Olyse to see the cloud of demonic spores rolling toward her.
