The quasit stumbled upon the pugwampis who were living in the crypt and tried to recruit them to its nefarious cause, but it doesn't speak Fey and they don't speak Abyssal (and are naturally hard of hearing), so they were in the midst of a long and futile attempt to pantomime communication.

GM Blake |

I'll also point out that, if you want to, you could do some basic shopping in town.

Clover Montajay |

Apologies for posting delays; Tuesday & Wednesday proved busier than expected. As a note, I'll be heading out of town today for a convention and won't be back until Monday afternoon. I won't make any guarantees about posting but I will say that I'll have my Chromebook with me and probably won't completely fill my schedule up with games, soooo...we'll see!
That said, if it comes down to waiting on me, by all means go ahead and bot me and keep things rolling. I'll catch up when I can :)

Would you like your Standard Operating Procedure to be that once you have looted a place/encounter and have reasonable free time to Detect Magic (Rulean), Read Aura (Ephie) to narrow things down, and then whoever is free to attempt identification?

Ephraim Critchlow |

Sounds good to me.

GM Blake |

I recall a consensus to move on to the Mad Muggers before you got distracted by the crypt encounter.

GM Blake |

Don't fret. If I haven't botted or delayed a character--barring the Sunday morning activation where one's 24 hours is up on Monday morning and I'm intentionally giving a little more time--it's because your GM is distracted.
In this case, beside my refrigerator being out and trying to feed two small monsters children, my son turned on the overhead fan unbeknownst to me and it sucked in my daughter's helium filled unicorn balloon and needs repairing... *sigh*

It's less 'fretting' and more 'courtesy', because work being the four letter word ending in 'k' that it is....
And your child sounds like he may have talent. Have you ever considered sending him to the circus? :)

Nabi Salekhet |

And your child sounds like he may have talent. Have you ever considered sending him to the circus? :)
If only to feed the lions? (just joking. Ahaha. Circus lions aren't allowed to be feed children. Not without ketchup and some mashed potatoes, as far as I know.)

Ephraim Critchlow |

Ephie speaks in Mr. Splinters' high-pitched voice…
CLOBBER THESE SAPS WITH YOUR MAGIC SAP.
He casts Magic Weapon on the rogue's sap. Reach Spell; Drain Bonded Item
I meant to include Nabi's name in there somewhere. How rude!
Anyway, the magic weapon is for Nabi this time. The sap being nonlethal seems like a good bet to me.

Ephraim Critchlow |

Ahh. I ctrl+f'd on your character sheet and saw a sap listed but it's under proficiencies. Well, sword it is!
(BTW, I always buy a sap on my rogues and martial-prof classes; they are really useful at times like this and especially for rogues being both agile and nonlethal.)
Ephie cannot do damage this encounter because you cannot do nonlethal magic without a feat, so Magic Weapon is his best option anyway.

Ephraim Critchlow |

** spoiler omitted **
I'm going to give back Ephie's actions.[/spoiler]
Nah, all good! Magic weapon is still the best option, and it's probably good for the rogue who can add sneak attack.
No worries.

OK. Consider Nabi's sword Magic Weaponed. You know someone is coming now, who will presumably put up more of a fight than these AC 13, HP 8 mooks. :)
EDIT: Oh, yeah, the whole reason I came in to post...
Leaf: If you want, rather than describing non-lethal arrow shots as "blunt" arrows, you can have them be troublesome pinnings, like through a boot and into the ground, pinning a sleeve to the chest, landing right between the wolf's toes, etc. Or, if you prefer a less belief-suspending alternative, sinking regular arrows into non-vital areas is fine by me.

Ephraim Critchlow |

I'm fine with social.

GM Blake |

Well, then go ahead. :)
Only one skill check per round, but the time of each round is nebulous. Not everyone has to make a check. You can contribute without making a check, but be careful to not do or say anything so egregious that I can't ignore it.

I suggest we sell unused items on the tracker:
- Everburning Torch ("See what you want to see.")
- Bravo's Brew (lesser)
- Bearskin Hat Marked with a Golden Leaf
- Holy Symbol of Gozreh
- Golden Scales (functional)
- Gold Ring
I marked them as "sold" for now, and we have almost 60 GP!
Ephie can also affix talismans for you (owlbear may be useful) and transfer runes during downtime (not sure if the runes are claimed),

GM Blake |

I think we're rolling our own ID checks here?
Yes, you may. I got swept away before I could put the routine spoilers in. The Craft DC is 17.

GM Blake |

For clarity, my description of the attack meant despite being non-lethal, the numbers on the damage were big. Whips are also non-lethal. Lions are not.

Nabi Salekhet |

Sorry, I'm still having an hard time trying to find out what kind of new equipment I could need to buy.
I guess last fight taught me I could do with a sap, and probably expert thieves tools if I could find them but there is probably more...

Rulean |

The class kit has most everything a first level character needs to start.
As I gain funds, I tend to supplement by filling out my options:
* Which ever of Ranged or Melee I skimped on with initial funds
* Non-lethal weapon
* Fill out the Blunt/Piercing/Slashing triangle for melee weapons if I do a lot of melee
* potions of lesser healing to keep me going
* Striking for my main weapon
* Item that gives +1 item bonus to a skill that I consider one of my main skills
The non-lethal weapon isn't as critical in my opinion since you can take a -2 with a lethal weapon to do non-lethal damage. On the other hand, that -2 is a pretty big hit to take on attack rolls.

Rulean's plan is pretty good.
The opportunity to shop now is essentially for filling in gaps in equipment or picking up things you didn't realize you'd need, upgrading armor, refilling ammunition, and picking up alchemical items or a scroll or two.
I have botting instructions for Song, but I'm going to delay her so she has a chance to play her own character.

Viktor Volcano immolated the straw man on the way to Abberton. That's why he's missing. :)

GM Blake |

Apologies. That was as much as I could squeeze out before taking my wife to a doctor appointment.

GM Blake |

Ladile may be in the midst of a triple night shift (or I'm going to bot her right before she logs in).

Clover Montajay |

(or I'm going to bot her right before she logs in).
The latter ;)
But that's fine! Life's just been a bit busier than usual offline as of late - in a good way.
(The triple night shift begins tomorrow night...)

What to do with Leandrus was a more difficult call between the story that came to mind and the story you guys came up with, which I may discuss later.

I'll give Clover a chance to have an opinion about Danika's fate, but since there's no reason to have suspense: yes, you will be able to put Danika in a cell if you want and yes, one of the circus performers can watch her if you like.

GM Blake |

Feel free to set up any scene you'd like or move right back to the Lindell farm, but any true interrogation or conversion of Danika will take Downtime, which you will have in the relatively near future.

GM Blake |

It is late afternoon.
Your plot-related options are:
1. Continue to the Lindell farm
2. Return to the big top to rest for the night
3. Return to the big top to deal with the "dracolisk"

Rulean |

Resting would be nice, Rulean is also out of first level spells and divine font for healing.
I am concerned about there potentially being a clock for how long we have to deal with the problems. We might get help from a mephit if we went to the Lindell Farm, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't make up for what we would regain by resting for the night.
I must have missed the part about the dracolisk. Is that the rooster-bat that was near the cow-shaped rocks?

GM Blake |

Yes. So dubbed solely for reference because Clover thought rolling a recall knowledge couldn't hurt, and we know how well she's doing with those recall knowledge checks. :)
It's not really plot-related, but I felt I should remind you that you have a monster sleeping near your camp site, not that it seems to be bothering anyone.
Anyhow, I'll move you back to camp and you can rest up shortly.

Rulean |

So looking through the various Divine spells, I’m not seeing anything other than Magic Weapon and Divine Lance that are likely to help kill outsiders.
Am I missing something?

GM Blake |

I don't think you're missing anything. The divine list is rather anemic compared to the others.
Not for killing outsiders, but you have access to Protection by GM fiat.
