GM Elberion |
You have only entered one room of the man building.
Vina Sitha |
Ok Vina/Lakadee will head back to the first building and start exploring.
Vina has Lakadee squeeze into the building and open the door to the south.
GM Elberion |
That will be the NE room, but I see what you mean.
Lackadee pushes open the damp, soft wood of the door.
To the south, this long room is empty save for a large mound of compost covered with tiny black mushrooms heaped nearly to the ceiling in the southeast corner of the room, while to the north, an old kitchen seems to have been repurposed into some sort of indoor garden. A workbench cluttered with pottery stills and glass alembics stands below small alcoves filled with vials and beakers. Dozens of clay vessels rest haphazardly on wooden boxes, each sprouting neatly-pruned shrubs or large, exotic mushrooms. They appear surprisingly well-tended, given the state of the rest of the building, though the roots of several have burst through their pots.
Vina Sitha |
Vina tugs gently backwards to stop Lakadee in his track. "Be still, my friend. Be very still..."
She takes a careful look at the various mushrooms in this room, keeping her distances, knowing full well that fungi release spores to reproduce, and that some species can reproduce on flesh or wood instead of damp earth...
Hopefully those are more of the hallucinogenic nature, she thinks, remembering fond days in her youth...

Linka Wind |
Spotting the contraptions and growths over Vina's shoulder Linka becomes very curious.
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
GM Elberion |
The room has only dim light, Vina and Linka are fine because they both have darkvision but anyone relying on human-level senses will struggle to see much.
From the doorway, Vina and Linka do not see anything obviously dangerous.
The black mushrooms at the back of the room are those served at the Founder's Feast, so clearly not everything here is inedible.
Also present here are five strange puffball-like spore cases, gray and the size of a man’s fist. Four are closed but one lies open and empty, a dried husk.
They do not seem entirely natural to you.

Linka Wind |
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Linka is overcome with curiosity and pushed past Vina.
Oh, looking these. gesturing at each in turn, These are where they get their poison. These are what we had at the feast. And these are what they used to turn the poor innocent pig into a horrifying monster. We should probably smash those last ones.
Ekanta Hanoi |
'Human-level vision'??? In the Land of the Blind, I swear....
Wealth of Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Despite having earnestly studied planar lore back at the Grand Lodge, Ekanta doesn't recognize the immature qlippoths on his own - but unlike Linka, once informed he wastes no time with "probably", and thrashes them almost casually, like an alchemist with repressed anger issues pulverizing mandrake root.
In case it matters:
DAMAGE!: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Oh, look Frodo! MORE damage!: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
And here's some for you!: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Remember when I said I would crush you last? I lied: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
*violin shrieks a la Psycho*: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Sayuki the Duplicitous |
Sayuki follows, but lets the darkvision folks investigate the room, staying in the doorway with her bow drawn and her kunai cranked back up into its holster. "Darker and darker," she murmurs.
Vina Sitha |
Vina makes sure the spore cases (or what's left of them, after Ekanta's rampage) are completely *burned down* so that they do not implant themselves on any of the refuse found in this room... just in case... ;)
Vina also carefully harvests the Blue Whinnis for her own use later and to prevent anyone else from this town to continue their poisoning tendencies...
GM Elberion |
Harvesting Poison from Hazards: Some hazards, such as poison oak and spider vines, feature poisons that can be harvested by those who know how to do so. This process requires 1 hour and an alchemist’s lab or alchemy crafting kit. If the harvester succeeds at a Survival check (DC = 15 + the hazard’s CR), she collects 1 dose of poison. Harvesting poison from a hazard in this way requires getting close enough to it to touch it, which may expose the harvester to the hazard’s effects.
If you take an hour, you can use the kit here as a lab. If you just want to destroy it then untreated Blue Whinnis will not harm you as you hack it up.
GM Elberion |
There are two rooms that you have not explored, both to the West. There is also a ladder leading up from the main room.
Sayuki the Duplicitous |
Sayuki, realizing she's standing right next to a door, will kick it open, bow in-hand. If there's a doorknob, she'll gently turn it... then kick it open.
GM Elberion |
Actually, it's just an opening...
Broken chairs, old straw-filled mattresses, and water stained,
moldering quilts litter this room. A few candles flicker fitfully on a shelf at the back of the room.
Sayuki the Duplicitous |
Sayuki kicks the air, then, where a door might have been, for fun.

I'm taking 10 on Perception from now on. Harrumph!
Linka Wind |

Linka kneels down next to Sayuki and pulls out some thin pieces of metal.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
After double checking for traps she gets to work.
You snooze. You lose. Bed a dear and keep an eye out, would you?

Linka realised that the chest is not trapped but the floor of the chamber is on the verge of collapse. Stepping on it would be a bad idea.
Fortunately, she can reach over and flip open the chest.

Vina Sitha |
If you take an hour, you can use the kit here as a lab. If you just want to destroy it then untreated Blue Whinnis will not harm you as you hack it up.
Knowing that it takes too long to harvest properly, Vina destroys the untreated Blue Whinnis so that it does not harm anyone else later.
Tanya V. Dugerechaff |
Apologies, been preoccupied the last few days.
"Can't say bedding a deer is a common occurrence. What do you think?" She asks Vina.
"Does going around mean go outside or walk around the edge of the wall?" Tanya inquires.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
GM Elberion |
There is one other door, through the room with the plants. There is also the ladder leading up.
GM Elberion |
Right, sorry.
The box contains a motley assortment of jewellery. Some have bloodstains.
Linka Wind |
Linka starts passing the jewelry back.
Guess we found the taxes. Let's check that other room.
GM Elberion |
Tanya and Sayuki needs a light source to pass through the plant room. What have you got?
Linka Wind |
Linka does, but she can see so it'll have to be mentioned for her to realize the problem. Darkvision FTW
Sayuki the Duplicitous |
Sayuki takes a couple of fumbling steps into the darkness.
"Light, please," she whispers.
Theoretically, she'll already know that somebody has a Wayfinder, since there was the whole journey here and everything!
Linka Wind |
Oh, sure. Have you considered investing in new eyes?
Linka asks as she pulls out her wayfinder and lights it up.
Ekanta Hanoi |
*cue the 'exploring the house' music from Clue!*
Ekanta (still seemingly oblivious to the innuendos that had been flying around just moments before) reveals his own Wayfinder: One of the fine Tian jade models. He does not light it as Linka does, but directs a thin ray of its pale green light toward both Sayuki and himself (a minute's guidance for both of us) before venturing further in.

Tanya takes a look at the ooze, and decides she would rather not be involved with this. She flees to the adjacent room.
Assuming it is flatfooted and can't act yet, so moving around the corner.
She then turns and fires her pistol from around the passway.

GM Elberion |
It just doubles the base damage, is my call.
