Two robed figures emerge from stalls in the barn. Their robes are dirty and they wear strange, elongated mosquito masks. Their hands grip filthy sickles.

They both converge on Salvius, swinging their blades.

Sayuki hears a lot of things, but moreover, she hears Shel's whimpered apology as she flees.

A lot of my questions are coming up with answers, and a lot of my answers are coming up with questions.

I'm not entirely certain where 30ft movement will get me, but I should be able to line up a shot. Feel free to move me closer if I can get it! Gonna assume I'm not near enough for Point-Blank Shot, though.

"Salvius! If you know Prestidigitation, make yourself smell like lemon eucalyptus oil! Mosquitoes can't stand it!"

As she jogs, she turns, grapevining with her legs and launching a shot.

She's not able to draw as effectively as she'd like, however, so her shot is neither as accurate not as powerful as it could be.

Salvius, you can make a grapple check to get them off, even though you are not grappling, because they are. You can also attack them or cast spells on them. Their ACs are lowered because they are grappling. They cannot take Attacks of Opportunity so you don't need to cast defensively from the stirges (although you do from the two people in masks).

Sayuki races forward and slices through the tattered robes of the red-robed sneak. She cries out in pain, the sound muffled and distorted by the strange mask.

Meanwhile, the yellow stirge feeds greedily on Salvius.

He responds by making some space and obliterating one of the stirges that clings to him.

Sayuki, I am guessing that you are not wearing your armour right now. Correct me if I am wrong.

Red swings wild, clearly distracted as her off-hand grabs at her wound.

Blue however, swings with a little more composure and manages to catch Sayuki where her armour was/is.

All the while, the other pathfinders draw closer.

Shinobi shozoku only works if you're wearing armor of 1AC or less, so she'd have to have taken it off, I'm afraid.

Sayuki yipes as the sickle strikes her; she lashes out...

...not to wound, but to blind. Her kunai strikes the mask and knocks it down over Green's eyes.

The figure in blue, cries out, "No!" as he drops his own sickle and kneels down next to his injured companion.

At that moment, Ekanta rounds a corner. All he can see is Shel leaning over a wounded figure in robes, while someone with a mosquito-mask tends to a burnt and bleeding hand.
Ekanta can also just make out two of his companions on the barn balcony.

With a thunk, Sayuki plants her kunai in the nearby wood and nocks an arrow.

”We’re sweet people who haven’t hurt any of you. We have healers among us, but no reason not to feather* you where you stand. Speak quickly, and we’ll save her. Refuse, and I’ll loose this arrow.”

*”feather” as a verb here is a term derived from the fletching on an arrow sticking out of someone—in other words, she’ll shoot them. I’ve confused a GM with that before, so figured I’d specify :D

The man pulls off his mask and looks up at you, it is *shock, horror* Saul Lupescu, the friendly village blacksmith. Tears stain his cheeks, "My girl! We thought being Queen would protect her," he sniffles some tear-snot away, "But it condemned her. A sacrifice must be made. The Gossamer King demands it. We cannot let down Ravenmoor. But, but we thought, maybe another sacrifice would do? Maybe an outsider? And then Shel came home and this one was just waiting to take her place."

He looks up, pleadingly, at Salvius, "You'll take her place, won't you? She's a sweet girl. You can save her. Take her place."

Sayuki offers a long sigh.

"Sir, we're Pathfinders. This sort of thing is entirely within our wheelhouse. Tell us about the Gossamer King and these sacrifices and we'll... take care of it." Murder him. 90% sure this is a giant stirge. Or Kyle. Or a giant stirge that ate kyle.

Salvius, not being very religious, assumes the Gossamir King is some kind of person, and not an actual deity. As he fixes his coat and says-"Oh, dear, a sacrifice?"-he says as he grabs his head and scratches the back of it.

Salvius walks down towards Shel, beckoning Sayuki to follow him. He smiles and says-"No need! You've done plenty of handiwork already. Allow my much more dexterous colleague."-as he presents his rope to Sayuki, winking.

As they head down the stairs, he will whisper-"We should play along, and find out who this Chenowitz Gossamer King is. They could be a dangerous conjurer, and might be behind the strange happenings in this here Ravenmoor. Perhaps behind Kyle's dissapearance. I am content to play the part of the bait, I think."-he says remaining nervous and jumpy.

Whilst Salvius might be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, inside his head he believes this beats trying to schmooze Shel.
