Session Zero Notes
While my initial thoughts on the Inspiring/Challenging Relationships were similar to the “player to the right/player to the left” suggestion of the GMG, it does end up with some issues with odd combinations of character and influence. I have worked out a suggested alternative pattern which effectively ensures several connections between each hero and most of the rest of the party. I am more than open to suggestions of changes to these combinations, especially if someone gains inspiration from having a shared link. I’d like each of you to collaborate here with each person you have links with and each person that has a link with to come up with a story of how the relationship evolved through the circumstances presented by the relationship roll. Consider the flavor text of the relationship roll a jumping off point, and feel free to “reskin” the reason the trait listed became available to you if it fits both persons’ stories better.

Kazmukh: Desperate Intimidate Revna
……………. Matter of Might Ann
Elinil: Homelessness Revna
……….. Privileged Position  Kazmukh
Brennadara: Magician  Ann
…………………..Spy  Revna
Revna: Magician  Brennadara
………….Seeking Accolades  Elinil
Ann: Missing Child Elinil
……Matter of Might Kazmukh

Furthermore, several of these indicate people of import that you may have been trying to impress or gain tutelage from, etc. Here, I am going to list several members of the kingdom’s court and influential people in the city of Stagfal. These will be brief descriptions, allowing you to flesh out your relationships should you choose to include any of them in your background stories.

King (His Majesty) Freidold Jyadson bold, enthusiastic, sharp-witted
Queen (Her Majesty) Kessa Surtova determined, thoughtful, vibrant
Culture Secretary (Counselor) Mimi Broadstick gregarious, seductive, vivacious
Diplomatic Secretary (Counselor) Sandra Surtova assertive, exacting, unflappable
General (General) Holta Seigrid courageous, disciplined, serious
High Priestess (Her Eminence) Lialunna Thestria calm, ecumenical, pious
Magister (His Magnificence) Kregler Dushovn brilliant, experimental, ruthless
Marshal (His Honor) Kurdegarde Juldolme bureaucratic, efficient, rigid
Seneschal (High Counselor) Frita Seigrid emphatic, observant, reconciliatory
Treasury Secretary (Counselor) Wendel Piercer dry, spendthrift, timid
Warden (Warden) Gingertucker Mosswaxer curious, devoted, whimsical

Man, that’s a lot of redheads.

You will begin the campaign in the employ of Warden Mosswaxer, although any of the other people of note could have recommended you to the position. We’ve got awhile to get through session zero and get things set up here.

I think this is going to be a challenge building the inter-character stuff. So, I'm going to post the key things from Elinil's deep background rolls, that make building the relationships difficult.

OK, Elinil's big challenge for this is that his homeland roll was Front Lines, and there's only a couple of places in the vicinity of the river kingdoms that qualify (to my mind) : The Worldwound and Kyonin. Unfortunately, I don't see any of the other characters backgrounds fitting near either of these...

His other structural challenge is tying together his Major Childhood Event: Academy Trained ("the academy was your home for a good portion of your formative years.") and his Inspiring Relationship: Homelessness ("At a time when you were both living on the streets, you taught this character valuable pointers to survive"). How many people do you know who go to higher education while being homeless... As a further complication, Homelessness is tied to Revna, who's own background is distinctly un-urban...

A lesser difficulty is his Challenging Relationship : Privileged Position "You once sought the favor of a powerful spellcaster as a mentor, but this character was plainly the mentor’s favorite, no matter how hard you tried.", which is currently tied to Kazmukh, who's not linked to a powerful spellcaster, particularly as a mentor...given he's planning a fighter, I think.

Still, to kick this into play, Reckless, how do you feel about stretching Front Lines to the river kingdoms, due to the incessant local warfare and banditry? Assuming that's good, I am at least IVO the other characters to have a relationship.

If I redirect my Challenging Relationship from Kazmukh to Anri, we could both be mentoring from the same spellcaster, with Anri as the mentor's favorite, with Elinil second best.

Inspiring relationship is trickier, as there isn't much by way of urban backgrounds in this group as written. Also I did use the benefit from Homelessness (taking the Streetwise skill feat). Suggestion are appreciated.

Kazmukh is from an urban area, pad330--New Stetven is a metropolis. Maybe that could work.

If I say the Iomedean's put the orphanage in New Stetven rather than Nerosyan (farther from the front lines...), that would work. So if I flip Inspiring relationship to Kazmukh, Eliniel can be homeless in New Stetven. While Kazmukh isn't homeless, maybe his mom was generous with the food... That could work.

If I read inspiring relationship right, Elinil is supposed to be inspiring/teaching Kazmukh... Clearly, I should not be the person who set you up to get trafficked, which is my first thought (this may say something about me...). I'll think about it...

Complete Thesis and Spellbook of one Anri Winnowill "Darkspur"

This will be much easier when we all have aliases...

A few questions:

1) How many days travel is it to Stagfal from Whitethrone?
2) Does Stagfal have Gladitorial Games? Of what nature?
3) Are any of the NPCs above involved with the Games? The Marshal? The Treasury Secretary?

...

Posting the "Relationship" language results here to kickstart brainstorm:

Elinil Iomedaeson > "Missing Child"
When a young relative disappeared in a busy market, this character helped you question merchants and shoppers and find the child before they came to any harm. Add the Hobnobber skill feat to your background options.

Anri's current family is her brother and their father. Maybe we can say that the brother has a child, and that one day Anri agreed to babysit the tot, taking him/her into the city, only to lose the child, spend hours searching, and it wasn't until almost dusk that Anri was able to recover the child, who had the fortune of wandering into the arms of a kind-hearted stranger (Elinil), to which Anri became obligated to repay the debt?

Kazmukh Torson > "Matter of Might"
You have long considered this character your rival in a question of strength. You are determined to prove yourself to be mightier, perhaps by intelligent application of force if you aren’t physically imposing. Add the Hefty Hauler skill feat to your background options.

Perhaps Anri, after quitting her job as a librarian and becoming a guard, met Kazmukh, and something about him reminded her of her childhood rivalry with her brother? Perhaps she is a bit envious of his hammer? Or perhaps there was some sort of competition, and Kazmukh just edged her out slightly to "win", much to her dismay?

Brennadara < "Magician"
This character supported your brief dalliance with stage magic, which you took up as a precursor to learning actual magic or simply to keep your fingers nimble. Add the Subtle Theft skill feat to your background options.

Perhaps Brennadara spotted Anri practicing several of her spells (which appear on both the Arcane and Primal lists), and offered coin, or barter, or friendship, for some basic tutoring? Which ended up being two ways as too Anri is no stranger to fisticuffs?

Male Human Commoner 2

Yes, yours are among the most challenging to integrate.

I think growing up in the river kingdoms, perhaps during the rise of King Irroveti of Pitax, would qualify for Front Lines.

The academy at Pitax could have been where you studied, and the professor at the academy who sponsored you may have been subject to one of Irroveti's purges, causing your expulsion to the streets (the Academy being your home up to that point.)

The major concern from Homelessness is that you know things about living in the street the other person doesn't and you've attempted to pass that knowledge on. Considering Elini's rural/wild upbringing, she would have needed those pointers and your time on the street after the purge gave you the insight to fill those needs. This is brainstorming, here, so the details can be changed significantly.

Must have been sleep-reading the Privileged Position. :) Anri would certainly make more sense. Perhaps you were both seeking sponsorship from His Magnificence Kregler Dushovn, who would not have been kind in his rejection of you.

EDIT: three posts in the time I was typing this up :) Happy to see excitement.

First, apologies for my notes changing your name from Anri to Ann, My terrible handwriting is to blame.

1) Stagfall is really far from Irrisen and Whitethrone. How you came to come to the River Kingdoms is definitely something we'll have to work out.
2/3) Stagfall does have exposition matches, although not in an official arena so much as at a fairground area just outside of the city.

Counselor Mimi Broadstick is the primary sponsor for these events, although she often ropes General Holta Seigrid and His Honor Kurdegarde Juldolme into using them for training excercises/displays of valor from among the army and militia/guard. Warden Gingertucker Mosswaxer is sometimes convinced by the silver-tongued halfling to provide special beasts for these events.

These "Fair Days" are held monthly on the night of the third Moonday, and often held tribute to Gorum and/or Torag, with the taxes from numerous goods barely making up for the expenditure required to hold them.

Down with the Fair Days - I'm thinking perhaps Anri entered an Exposition Match on a whim (perhaps her second time witnessing it), on such a day as General Holta Seigrid was present, and witnessed her martial skill, enough to recruit her into the guard?

As for Whitethrone > Stagfall, I think it's plausible Anri was chasing a lead on her blood mother that pointed her in that direction? (If so,, the question then is what exactly was the lead?...)

King Freidold Jyadson has imported a rather sizable delegation of misfits and outcasts from the Land of the Linnorm Kings (including but definitely not limited to Holta and Frita Seigrid and Kurdegarde Juldolme) which is a neighboring country to Irrisen. Perhaps your mother's whereabouts were traced to here through one or more of these displaced vikings?

The Marshal is in charge of the guard, the General is in charge of the army, and the Warden in charge essentially of adventurers and rangers.

The High Priest, Marshal, Seneschal, and Warden each have judicial powers and responsibilities as well.

The High Priest proceeds over disputes of religious laws and freedoms.

The Marshal acts as a roaming judge, visiting each official town and village at least once a month to settle matters of criminal law.

The Seneschal oversees the High Court, settling challenges to the rulings of other judges and overseeing the civil court system of the capital.

The Warden is responsible for seeing the law carried out in the rural wilds and dealing with threats to the kingdom from monsters, unruly beasts, bandits, and the like. The Warden has broad licence to determine and conduct justice in the wilds. The Warden's authority ends at the town/city limits, where she must turn criminals over to the Marshal's forces/guard. As deputies of the Warden, you will have similar freedom to exercise justice in the wilds and similar reductions of authority in the urban centers.

Sorry it took so long for me to check in here. I posted in Recruitment on my phone while going to a urgent care place. Have an URI that is trying to come back so I wanted to nip it in the bud while I could.

So for Revna it seemed like her and Kazmukh have fought together at least once already, as they took on people trying to take them. If both had to journey here then it is likely they met along the way.

As for the Homelessness with Elinil, yeah is doesn't really work. So I'm totally fine with handing that off to Kazmukh. If we want to connect Elinil to Revna we could do so through Kazmukh. Like Elinil was traveling with Kazmukh when they got hit.

Now onto the thing of Brennadara spying on Revna connection to her being the Magician... That might be difficult as Brennadara isn't a magician in any form at the moment. So we might need to find another connection there... Though it might be best to work backwards! Why would Brennadara spy on Revna? Spying doesn't mean it has to be a bad thing. Could have been spying for the new people we work for!

Also I see either Holta or Gingertucker being the person who brought Revna in, or at least spoke out for her to be their choice. Because Revna's nature is more aligned with that of Holta but her skills would be far more useful to Gingertucker. Revna is more chaotic good in alignment, however she is much more bestial in fight a form. For example if she had to she'd rip a persons throat out with her teeth to protect what needs to be protected. Very do what needs to be done but never at the cost of innocents be they human, animal, or nature.

As requested, Elinil now has an alias...

Anri, are you wedded to being from Whitethrone (Irrisen)? Winter Break or Port Ice in northern Brevoy is pretty much as far north (pushed up on the edge of the Lake of Mists and Veils), so a Snow Elf (for your mom) makes just as much sense (in terms of distance from the crown of the world).

If that's the case, when "She went to the city and looked for a job in the library", the city could be New Stetven, and then you Anri could tie to Elinil with both of us studying under the same spellcaster. You could also have met Kazmukh who is from New Stetven as well.

Are you looking at this for your longspear?

If so, I think I could approved a gift more like this:

Limited Shifting
Magical Transmutation
Usage etched onto a melee weapon relic

With a moment of manipulation, you can shift this weapon into a different weapon with a similar form.

Activate Single Action Interact; Effect The weapon takes the shape of another melee weapon that requires the same number of hands to wield and is of the same weapon category or a similar one as determined by the gm. The weapon’s runes and any precious material it’s made of apply to the weapon’s new shape. Any property runes that can’t apply to the new form are suppressed until the item takes a shape to which they can apply.

-----
What this would mean is that you could transform the longspear into a spear or polearm. The idea is that it would have to transform into a similarly composed hafted weapon.

When you reach 6th level (the level of a Shifting Rune), it would graduate to full Shifting.

How does that sound to you?

Elinil,
You list both padded armor and studded leather armor under inventory. Think you probably decided against the padded?

You've got your weapons sort of grouped together, I would break them up so you remember their features.

The way to list weapons from most stat-blocks is

weapon +X (features), Damage 1dY+Z type
So you'd list
Melee
dagger +6 (agile, finesse, thrown 10 ft, versatile S), Damage 1d4 P
rapier +6 (deadly d8, disarm, finesse), Damage 1d6 P
whip +6 (disarm, finesse, nonlethal, reach, trip), Damage 1d4 S
Ranged
sling +6 50 ft (propulsive), Damage 1d6 B

This helps remind you that the dagger is agile(taking lower penalties to multiattack) or can be used for slashing as well as piercing, or thrown with a 10 ft increment.

Everything else looks nice and proper. I like your selection of spells.

OK, sorry for the delay. I've got mechanics in my profile now which I'd love people to have a once over (as, like others here, it's my first PF2E character.)

It probably makes sense for Brennadara to have offered her services directly to Warden Mosswaxer as that's the sort of work that she would have been looking to do while keeping an eye on the kingdom anyhow.

@Reckless, I've used the optional Voluntary Flaws when creating Brennadara (I took -2 Int and Cha for +2 Con). If you'd rather I not use that I can adjust the character without too much trouble.

@Revna, Brennadara would have been watching people come and go from Stagfall for a while. Spying on you would have been close to part of her normal routine. If she then established that she either trusted your motives or wanted to know more (probably after seeing you offer your services as a protector,) she might have sought you out to interact with in person. Though she's not a magician, she does have some druid training and a collection of sleight of hand tricks she would have learned living with young gnomes that she might pass on. I'm also happy to replace that with something that makes more sense. We could probably make kindly witch happen for example, though we'd need to create a character that would fit that (if it's someone Brennadara trusts she could be referring you to them to get another opinion on how trustworthy you are.)

@Anri, that relationship sounds good. After watching Anri for a while Brennadara would be willing to approach for something like that.

@Brennadara: What is we did take the Kind Witch and spun it into a life debt? Through Brennadara's spy she found Revna in a wounded state and brought her to said witch?

Oh, that could work well. Brennadara was spying on you at some point when you left Stagfall and tailed you from a distance, still trying to discern whether you were friend or foe. You got into a fight with something evil, and Brennadara was too far away to engage while you fought. You drove them off, but by the time Brennadara reached you you'd fallen from your wounds. Brennadara brought you to the Kindly Witch who healed you and you're thankful for that, but Brennadara feels terrible guilt that she let you get into the situation on your own. It'll help drive why I'll invest as much into movement speed in the coming levels (I'll be up to speed 50 at level 3 with the Ki Rush feat to let me move double that as a focus spell.)

For the betrayed background, it's supposed to be the Lie to Me skill feat.

Yeah began of Revna's Edicts and Anethema, if she comes across evil she has to try and take it out. Letting it go free without a fight is against her's gods Anethema. Plus Revna is bold like that, she would be willing to take on something much bigger than her if it was for the right reason.

@GM So! Are you willing to allow is to swap magician out for king witch? If only for the sake of story? XD

Ah! thank you Brennadara, that makes much more sense.

@Reckless, is Warden Mosswaxer a gnome? It's hard to tell from the picture, but the traits you're ascribing to her would fit a gnome well. If so that makes it even easier for her to be the one Brennadara would approach about becoming a deputy.

@Revna, perfect! Do you want to say what the evil was? Or perhaps it was something that neither of us knew, we could just both sense that it was wrong. That lets it come up later in the story perhaps.

@Brennadara: Oh it would totally give the GM something to use against us at a later date if we don't name it. After all Reckless could use anything he sees fit if we do it that way.

Anri, did you miss this Q?

Not married to hailing from the metropolis at all, but that said, I am married to hailing from a Metropolis, per my deep background.

Any such that makes more sense is fine. Once that is decided, I will alter my profile to suit.

Flexible.

Question! Crafting, do you have to select something or do you just get trained in crafting?

In Revna's home everyone learned to weave, hunt, and carve wood. If you don't make your living hunting you likely make it fishing as her home was close to a large river. The farming was pretty much everyone's responsibility. With it being so small a field of wheat or two pretty much fed everyone along with the fish and meat. But the weaving was to make nets, hunting was to keep people alive, and carving wood is a courting and family ritual. If someone likes another and they wanted to court them they would carve something from wood or horn and give it to them. Long story short! Do I need different crafting skills for weaving, bow and arrow creation and repair, and the like? Or do I just become trained in crafting and that's fine?

@Revna, Crafting seems now to be a general skill covering all crafting. If you want to specialize in something there are skill feats for (at least) Alchemical Items, Snares, Magic Items, and Specialty Crafting for a bonus in a type of crafting of your choice. Unless you want to be especially good at something the general crafting skill should cover all the things you're interested in there I'm pretty sure.
