Dirk looks about the sewer, unimpressed and completely unfazed by the stench. "Not much like the rest of this place, is it?"

The smile falls from his face as his keen halfling eyes catch a glimpse of something far more wretched causing his tone to drop from jocular to most grave...
"Ah.. Scheisse... We have company ladles and gentlemen!"
As he speaks the halfling's gloved hand drops toward the handles of his pistols...

Hanna Achenbach |

Just re-read the description of my condition...not Stunned actually until I fail a Physical Test...
Hanna spits to the side, "No 'chuckin'' just yet, Herr Glintloque...but do not be surprised if I do..." she comment wryly.

Aubster |

You all hear a high-pitched voice cry out, "Quick, quick, strike, strike, kill, kill," and a swarm of monstrous creature come running at you from the shadows. A total of five charge at you and another hangs back in the shadows shouting instructions.
Two of the creatures are roughly man-sized, being between four and five feet tall covered with brown fur, with eyes of pink and a long hairless tail that looks like a giant worm. Their body posture is hunched forward. They are dressed in mouldering leather with scraps of rusty and tarnished metal embedded serving as makeshift armour. Both carry rusty, notched cleavers.
Two more of the creatures are taller, at least six feet tall with solid black fur. Their bodies are covered in black lacquered armour and they wear rune-encrusted helms of black iron. They follow the two smaller rat things jabbing at them to make the smaller ones move faster. The each have several human skulls tied to a belt around their waists.
Most disturbing though is a far larger rat shaped beast. It seems to combine the worst features of Ogre and Rat. It's fur is patchy revealing horribly scarred skin. It has a long stabbing blade attached to one of it's arms and it's very long tail is studded with dangerous looking spikes. It is foaming at the mouth and roaring in rage as it charges. It quickly passes the smaller rat things and splashing through the bubbling stew reaches you first.
Initiative rolls please (Initiative + 1d10)
The huge monster will reach you in Round 1 with the smaller monsters arriving in Round 2. Who knows that the shadowy figure will do?
Monster Initiative Rolls
Smaller Rat Men: 40 + 1d10 ⇒ 40 + (10) = 50
Blacked Furred Rat Men: 50 + 1d10 ⇒ 50 + (4) = 54
Giant Rat Ogre Hybrid Monster: 35 + 1d10 ⇒ 35 + (7) = 42
Lurker in the shadows: 40 + 1d10 ⇒ 40 + (2) = 42

Dirk Liestag |

Initiative: 1d10 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30
I assume that since Dirk failed his Perception check he's surprised on Round 1. He'll be able to defend vs the other Skaven on round 2 I think though? It will be a while before he gets to act...

Ubaldo Hartig |

Initiative: 47 + 1d10 ⇒ 47 + (10) = 57
Is it possible to hold an action? Or to ready against a charge?

Dirk Liestag |

Landolf's use of it in the other game might not be the best endorsement, but one option would be to go On the Defensive, using your turn to get +20 to defense checks. I'm not sure about the rest.

Ubaldo Hartig |

On The Defensive for Ubaldo then.
Ubaldo readies himself to meet the charge, of a sight straight out of a musophobic's worst nightmare!
"Stick together! Do not allow them to pick us off one by one!"

Hanna Achenbach |

Hannah is unsurprised by the sudden appearance of the ratlings,, mustering the mystical Winds of Light, at least one ray of blinding light striking out. She's confident her allies can handle the smaller rats, so she concentrates her magic on the brute charging their position.

thats SL of 6 plus wp bound of 5, for 11 wounds...

Dirk Liestag |

Your cast is a lot better than that Hannah. For every +2 SL you get, you can increase the range, area of effect, duration or targets of the spell. If you have the book, this is under Overcasting on pg 238.
Likely only Targets is relevant here. But you get to pick 3 additional targets.

Correct, can do no action in Round 1 but can defend in Round 2

Is it possible to hold an action? Or to ready against a charge?
I cannot find anything in the rules about Holding an action but it's perfectly reasonable thing to do. So Aubster Rule 3 - you can take your action either where you initiative indicates or wait and go last in a round.

Aubster |

Round 1 Combat
Ubaldo goes defensive, +20 to Parry
Hanna - needs to decide targets 2 and 3 and 4
Hanna demonstrates her amazing skill at the Arcane arts and summons 4 blinding rays of light. One of the rays strikes the giant rat man in it's right arm penetrating it's thick hide and causing think green blood to ooze. The giant rat man screams in pain and rubs its eyes, not used to such bright lights.
Damage = 6 + 5 - 4 (TB) - 1 (AP) = 6 Wounds
Arcane Spells sung from the Lore of Light tend to emit dazzling rays of blinding white light, or shroud the caster in shimmering waves of radiant purity. You may inflict one Blinded Condition on those targeted by Lore of Light spells, unless they possess the Arcane Magic (Light) Talent.
Blinded Perhaps because of a flash of light, or because of liquid sprayed in your face, you are unable to see properly. You suffer a –10 penalty to all Tests involving sight, and any opponent attacking you in close combat gains a bonus of +10 to hit you. One Blinded Condition is removed at the end of every other Round.

Ubaldo Hartig |

Parry! 81 (46+15+20): 1d100 ⇒ 46
4 SL = 3 SL +1 extra SL from Practical quality of best quality sword.

Aubster |

Alright, if i can i'll retarget the giant rat man until he's down, otherwise, the black furred rat man, one of the small ones and the one in the shadows...
It has to be four different targets
Damage against:
Black furred rat man = 11 - 3 (TB) - 4 (AP) = 4 Wounds
Smaller rat man = 11 - 3 (TB) - 2 (AP) = 6 Wounds
Shadowy figure = For some reason your dart fizzed out of existence before it reached the shadows.

Round 1 - Rat Man Revenge
I forgot to say that Adela, Jarvey and Dirk can go in other order amongst themselves since they are all at the end of the round.
The two smaller rat men, prodded along by the black furred rat men continue their charge, closing the distance with the group.
The giant ogre size rat though splashes through the sewage and reaches the group.
Numbering of the party for random choosing:
1) Ubaldo
2) Hanna
3) Adela
4) Jarvey
5) Dirk
Fate decides who the ogre rat tries to eat: 1d5 ⇒ 3
Seeing the monster looming over you is fairly terrifying and can shake anyone's confidence.
Everyone but Jarvey must make a Cool Test (Difficult +0) to avoid becoming afraid. Jarvey must make a Cool Test (Difficult +0) to avoid becoming terrified.
The horrid ogre rat hybrid picks out Adela as the best looking meal choice.
Ogre rat thing has +1 Advantage for charging.
Adela has a -2 SL to using Melee to defend. Dodging does not suffer from a penalty.
Ogre Rat Attack (35): 1d100 ⇒ 10 Success with SL +2
In addition the Ogre Rat thing's tail comes scything through the air at Adela. Spends Advantage 1
Ogre Rat Attack Tail (35): 1d100 ⇒ 78 Failure with SL -4
Need Attack and Defense Rolls from Adela, if everyone wants to go ahead and make your rolls for Round 2 that'd be great.
Hanna feels Chaos magic beginning to gather around the shadowy figure.

Adela raised his axe to parry. Doing so sent shockwaves coursing down her arm, but at the very least she blunted the blow. The spirit of Ulric is much more powerful than any fear generated by a rat, no matter how big the rat is.
Check my numbers on all of this
Adela won the first opposed check versus the Rat Ogre (SL +3 to SL +2) and therefore gains Advantage 1 and the Rat Ogre now has 0 Advantage
Since the Rat Ogre no longer has an Advantage to spend, it cannot make a Free Attack with its tail.
Adela rolled a 66 to hit which is a Success with SL +2 (with Advantage)
Rat Ogre Defense (35): 1d100 ⇒ 91 Failure with SL -6
Adela's roll of 66 is a Critical Hit
Critical Hit Location 1d100 ⇒ 41 Right Arm
Critical Hit Effect 1d100 ⇒ 7 Your arm is jarred in the attack. Drop whatever was held in that hand. Take 1 Wound. Rat Ogre weapon is attached to arm so is not dropped
Calculation of Non-Critical Damage from Axe (6 + SB) for weapon Is the damage correct for Adela's Axe?
Damage = 6 + 5 (SB) + 8 (SL diff) - 4 (TB) - 1 (AP) = 14 Wounds for Axe Hit + 1 Wound for Critical Hit + 6 Wounds from Dart Spell = 21 Wounds which stunningly doesn't cause the beast to fall
Adela now has Advantage +2
Adela has Talent Furious Assault which gives second melee attack if first is hit by using Movement or Advantage
Adela rolled a 26 to Hit which is a success of SL + 7 with Advantage
Rat Ogre Defense (35): 1d100 ⇒ 41 which is a failure with SL -1
Hit Location is Left Arm
Damage = 6 + 5 + 8 - 4 - 1 = 14 Wounds for a Total of 35 Wounds
Adela's successful parry both stunned the creature because it never had an attack stopped by a puny human and put it's blade arm out of a defensive position. Adela has been trained for years to take advantage of an opening like so she slammed the shining edge of her Ax into the exposed arm, ripping easily through the tough skin to delve deep into the Rat Ogre's Muscle. It's squeal of pain filled the chamber. Faster than any rat man had ever seen a human move, Adela immediately switched her attack to the Rat Ogre's other arm. Again she slammed the shining edge into the monster causing another massive would. All of this was too much for even the gigantic rat thing to withstand and it fell dead at Adela's feet. The stink of musk fear from the surviving rat men wafts over the group.

Is this second round rolls? I though Ubaldo went full defense in Round 1.

Ubaldo Hartig |

Ubaldo went full defense in the surprise round. Attacking after that.
Ah, Round 1 was when he went full defense. So yes, those are his Round 2 rolls above. Which after Adela's fine work are likely going to be redirected against a lesser rat-thing!

Jarvey Glintloque |

Cool (+0) 60: 1d100 ⇒ 70 Feck. Ok.... Will spend 1 Resolve to remove that Broken condition.
Jarvey momentarily baulks at the Rat-Ogre's charge, then steels himself as it is downed by Adela in spectacularly brutal fashion...
(Not sure how long mechanically it takes him to get himself together, thematically makes sense for him to spend R1 regaining his cool (figuratively and literally)

Round 2 Order
Ubaldo and Hanna in any order
All the Skaven I had forgotten that a couple of the characters had fought Skaven before so by now I’m sure they would have confirmed that their attackers are indeed Skaven.
Jarvey and Dirk and Adela in any order
Everyone except Ubaldo, go ahead and roll your attack and defense rolls for Round 2 and who you’re attacking. Ubaldo, I assume you want to use your rolls that you’ve already made and that you want to hold your action until the end of the round...of course, the other option is you could jump into the stew and charge the Skaven by yourself.

Hanna Achenbach |

Hanna smiles in satisfaction as the large rat creature falls, but the gets back to the matter at hand...focusing her magic on the next largest ratman, "Let us finish off these minor Slaven...the one in the shadows is gathering its strength for a larger more dangerous magical act..." she warns her friends.

Stormvermin 1 Attack against Dirk (45): 1d100 ⇒ 16 Success with SL +4 with Advantage
Stormvermin 2 Attack against Hanna (45): 1d100 ⇒ 22 Success with SL +3 with Advantage and is a Critical Hit
Clanrat Attack against Hanna (40): 1d100 ⇒ 1 Success with SL +5 with Advantage

Adela von Suderburg |

With the Skaven ignoring her, Adela stepped over to the stormvermin attacking Hannah. Given the order of march, it was but a mere step over the rat ogre’s corpse.
Attack Stormvermin: 1d100 ⇒ 1
WS with skill = 75 + 2 advantage = 95, so +9 with another +5 for strength and +4 for weapon
I don’t think a 1 is a Crit?

95 with a 50 is SL4 before advantage

This calls for spending Fate:
You may spend a permanent Fate point to avoid death and survive even the most unlikely situations. When you do this, choose one of the following two options:
• Die Another Day: Instead of dying, your character is knocked out, left for dead, swept away by a river, or otherwise taken out of action; your character will survive, no matter the fatal incident’s circumstances, but takes no further part in the current encounter.
• How Did That Miss?: Your character completely avoids the incoming damage by some extraordinary fluke, such as slipping just as a blow is about to connect, a weapon mysteriously jamming, or an unexpected source of light blinding an opponent; your character can continue on
without penalty, but has no guarantee of survival in later rounds.
Holding on determining the damage from the Clanrat depending which Fate option Hanna selects
