GM Chapel |

Hey folks, I just wanted to get everyone checked in since we have a full table.
Normally I request 1 post a day (I don’t expect anything on the weekends) but with the current climate I want everyone to know that there are more pressing priorities right now. I will check as frequently as possible and update as necessary. I will be working remotely soon and have a 9 (almost 10 month old) so I understand if you don't feel like a PbP game of Pathfinder needs to be your number one priority.
Take care. Be safe. Eyes up, Guardian.
Liek most PbP GM’s I will roll your initiative, saves, and secret checks. This isn’t to take agency away from the players, it’s just to facilitate faster gameplay and to allow you to properly respond in your next post. That being said, if you feel like you need to roll a Sense Motive or something similar, go ahead and do so. I’ll include the response in a spoiler tag in the next update.
During encounters that require initiative I will put OOC text at the top of each post that says the round # and any current enemy's initiative count. Example:
Round 2; Zombie Init 4
I ask that you all do the same, I found that it helps us keep track of the rounds and helps me to summarize the round in the next GM post.
I keep a link to the map at the top of the page along with a loot sheet and any pertinent handouts/character art and a loot sheet. I can keep track of the sheet if the table wishes or if someone wants that responsibility that’s fine too.
Go ahead and dot in the gameplay thread but remember that we’re waiting for the 30th.

I may stick to posting as Vozzik just to avoid Avatar confusion...
I'm still finalizing Vozzik's profile for PbP purposes. Any special requests?

Hrrmmm, will this do?

Just so that it's on the record, I edited my profile and stats a bit because this was my first PFS play by post character and I made a couple mistakes, namely forgetting to keep track of how much money I had and having the wrong AC written in a couple places.

![]() |

And I have updated extracts and mutagen in title.

![]() |

Boomer can be either front-line-ish with his earth breaker or mid-range with bombs. I'll let everyone else decide where he should go. (He is better suited to hit with bombs)

![]() |

Hullo is pure backline, although she does have a decent AC when fully kitted out, so I should probably be second to last if not at the back.

![]() |

Given his high AC and decent HP, Xavier is best up front, although he can't do that much damage.

![]() |

Sorry for the late response - I'm very new to PbP
Player Name: aduck31
Character Name: Zahd Mullman
Society Number: 2365201-1
Fast track
Day job: none
Also on the note of marching order Zahd is also frail and belongs in a museum in the backline. 200IQ and I talked and agreed that Hoo can go in front of Zahd.

Hey, Chapel? We're coming up on two posts a week, here...I'm concerned about the pace.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

"Fear not, brave heroes! Your quest is not forfeit!"
Give me a couple of hours to get up to speed, and add you to my growing list of "Archive" games. :)
While I am doing that, if you all could sound off so I know everyone is here.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Nice to meet you too.
Um, what's a Mez-mur-ist? That's like a cleric right? And dear god, what is Stefán!?!? You guys must be playing AD&D. ;)
Now, while everyone is checking in, if you could please fill out the info listed on page 2 of the new maps/hand-outs folio located here and above in my tag line under the title "Archive+". I am working on getting things changed over but it's the weekend and it's Spring and there's this epidemic and stuff. so we'll see. Until it gets changed over use these maps and notes, not the ones at the top of the page.
Thanks!
About me I am not a pushy GM, but I would like to finish on time. I hate botting people. I'll do it at need, but I have more than enough NPCs to play as it is. You have signed up to play in an RPG game, so please play it. Things happen sure, but in general you should be present, and not just for my sake, but for everyone else at the game table too.
As a GM, I don't put your character in front of the next door they have to kick down, and I certainly don't kick it down for them. That's called: writing a novel. We are here to game. Your character can do as they like (or not) within the game world. You guys are the heroes here, so you move the story. I'm just here to guide you through the world, and to judge the results.

FriendlyNeighborhoodMadScientis, sounding off

FriendlyNeighborhoodMadScientis, sounding off
THAT'S THREE! (Don't forget to clock in on page 2 of the slides.)
So about the handout folio and what the hell is page 3 for? Well, the scenario starts at a little past midnight so I ask players what their characters are doing around the Grand Lodge after midnight, and so I give them a map of the place for inspiration and reference. And then send NPCs out to unexpectedly collect them all before the game "officially" begins.
Next question is usually "Where is the overflow archive on the map?" It is not actually on the grounds of the Grand Lodge, but rather a couple of blocks away (but still inside the Foreign Quarter) inside a one time temple of Desna damaged in the big earthquake of 4698 AR. The Society bought the temple for cheap, and uses it to dump all of their various libraries' overflow. Most of it is just boring historical texts, some of it though hasn't been properly vetted, identified, or catalogued so literally anything could be in here.
Lastly, why was an ifrit (and everyone else chosen for this mission)? Well, it's not really a mission is it? It's more of a natural (or unnatural) disaster. You six were the only Pathfinders experienced enough to handle the problem that they could find in a hurry. Virml is just an initiate after all, while the Master of Scrolls, Kreighton Shaine (still in his nightgown, and sleeping cap) go try to rustle up more aid.
And no, you don't want to ask what Zarta was (almost) wearing.... ;)
Now those are answers to questions I think you might have, (they also serve to reset the scene) but I can actually answer questions you actually have too. ;)

The World's Most Interesting GM |

We have achieved "Table".
Now what is the table going to do? ;)

![]() |

Slide two updated.
Vozzik would have been in the Starhall, comparing star chart projections to observations and Society records.

![]() |

Muzouka playing Stefan here. I'm a witchwolf warpriest. I've updated slide 2 to include my stats.

![]() |

Stefan, new Pathfinder initiate, has spent the whole day at Skyreach. He has been trying to petition them to let him browse the libraries. He does not remember much of his past before waking up in Lastwall. All he knows is that his name is Stefan, he is a witchwolf, he cannot transform out of his witchwolf form and he has been marked by some sort of demon. Whether the demon's mark is the reason why he cannot transform he knows not.

![]() |

Xavier was meditating in the Water Palace when he heard the call to arms.

![]() |

Eijel sounding off. Playing an Ifrit Alchemist. He was at one of the smithies just retooling his favorite weapon, his cold-iron earth breaker.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Ah yes, the all-night smithy next to the staff residence hall, it's always a popular stop right after the neighborhood bars close for the night. Funny the way the owners have to rebuild the place after each Spring Break. You'd think a smithy would be more careful about fire. ;)
You folks don't have to explain what you were up to. As your GM, I'm positive whatever it was it was something naughty.

![]() |

I know I didn't have to post this, Hoo was merely studying with her mentors at the dark archive before heading over here. She wants to learn some arcane magic, but her mentors suggest she gets a better handle on regular language before teaching her dangerous magical incantations.

![]() |

I know, out of character, what languages this critter speaks. I know, out of character, what languages our party speaks.
Vozzik does not know either. Vozzik doesn't even have the skill or experience in these matters to make an educated guess.
I'm DYING INSIDE!

The World's Most Interesting GM |

It does take some lateral thinking to solve.

I am about ready for this streak of terrible luck on the PC side to be done, I tell you what!
