GM Blake |

Welcome! It is my pleasure to serve as your gamemaster and guide you on a fun and dangerous adventure. Thank you for joining me here!
Please read the following rules as they apply to my games. By completing the mustering questions, you agree to abide by these rules.
1. If you are color blind or have any other issue that will affect your experience with play-by-post play and use of GoogleDocs slides, let me know, publicly or via PM.
2. Bullying of either your fellow players or me, your GM, is not allowed.
3. I expect posts within 24 hours of an actionable post by me. E.g. combat rounds. This is an Online Convention, so there are no weekend exceptions to this rule.
4. Please let me know either in PM or in the Discussion thread if you will have a prolonged absence. And if you have an emergency, please let me know as soon as reasonably possible that 1) you had an emergency that kept you away and 2) that you are (or are not) OK. I actually do worry about my players when they vanish.
5. I no longer bot characters for absent players. After 24 hours of inactivity, the character goes on indefinite delay/non-action.
6. The exception to #4 is if you tell me ahead of time that you will be gone (or as soon as reasonably possible afterwards in the case of emergencies). However, my botting will be bare bones. You may also proactively arrange with another player to bot you during anticipated absences, but they must also agree to it.
7. I perform resource checks (also known as character audits). The details will be posted separately, but you must be prepared to demonstrate proof of ownership of any and all resources that you use for your character at any time (in an online format).
I will post a separate sign-in sheet in the campaign header for your PFS details. In the meantime, please post here, feel free to coordinate any purchases, school item selections, or anything else while waiting for the start of the convention.
Please also "dot-delete" in the Gameplay thread. You accomplish this by make a post, any post (often people just post a '.' thus the term dot) and then delete it. Make sure you click the second delete confirmation found under the post preview. This will register your game to your campaigns tab for easy reference and notify you of new posts.

Accidentally dotted in as GM Numbat. Please forgive me and if there is a way to remove that alias, feel free to do so.
Checking in as Barb, who would like to purchase a Wayfinder for 2 Fame and winter clothing for 4sp.

Dotting in. Also, would like to disclose I'm blind. So, maps, images, etc. are obviously going to need to be explained... I don't need detailed info about what a character looks like (unless it's actually pertinent info for plot or combat reasons -- i.e. you don't need to be Faulkner and tell me about the brocade in the drapes on the damned window behind the main characters for 10 pages; but also don't be Hemingway and give me so little that I don't know there's a dog sitting next to the old man fishing (the dog might bite).
In combat situations, I'll need to know where everyone is (generally speaking). The easiest way to do this is to use me as the center point and think of a clock.... 12 is directly in front of me, 6 is directly behind, 3 is directly to my right, 9 is directly to my left, and so on. You then just add distance to this. So, say Enemy 1 is 30' at 1 o'clock, enemies 2 & 3 are coming from about 9 and 60' away and there is a 4th enemy at 12 at 25'. Your party is spread out dealing with them in the following manner... (something to that effect) This way, I get a sense of where everyone is, exactly how everyone is positioned, etc. I'll be paying attention to people's moves but there times when certain moves throw a creature in a direction and, without being able to see, you don't know exactly where they've been thrown. I don't need to have that information until my turn but I'll need it when my turn happens to be able to make sensible choices.
And, if this sounds like elementary stuff, I've learned to just presume that the GM has never worked with someone who is blind before and start with "Blindness 101" training if you will.
If you have any specific questions, just ask. If I need anything specific, I'll be sure to let you know. I haven't used Paizo's platform before to do pbp -- been using Discord. Is there a guide somewhere that I can look at that has the commands that I can look at?

![]() |

@Tam Sa Gi
regarding a guide that has commands to look at, there is a button under the text box for posting (about 5 lines down) that will reveal the BBCode used.
I will copy it at the bottom of this post.
The most important ones to know are bold for speech, dice rolling, spoilers, and ooc for out of character.
For the instructions below, replace each {} with []
How to format your text
{quote=Someone said}Quoted material here....{/quote}
This is {b}bold{/b} and {i}italics{/i} and {s}strikethrough{/s} and (PCT) {u}underline{/u}.
Go to {url=https://paizo.com}Paizo Inc.{/url}.
Contact {email}customer.service@paizo.com{/email}
{list}{*}one{*}two{/list}
This is {bigger}bigger{/bigger} and this is {smaller}smaller{/smaller}.
This is {ooc}out-of-character commentary{/ooc} for play-by-post threads.
{spoiler=Movie plot spoiler}This is a spoiler, such as revealing who really did frame Roger Rabbit.{/spoiler}
{dice=Perception}1d20 + 3; 1d6 + 2{/dice} This is a dice expression.
(PCT) This text uses {code}code{/code} formatting.
(PCT) This text has {color=red}red{/color} and {color=#0000ff}blue{/color} text.

Thanks for this. The original text is a bit screwed up and isn't reading properly. For example, the dice roll command reads:
"dice=perception 1d20+3; 1d6+2 /dice This is a dice expression."
So, everything between the quotations is literally how the screen reader reads it. There aren't any brackets. Even when I would go through and read it letter by letter, the screen reader made an indication that there was something in the space (i.e. there was an extra space between, for example, the "/" and the "2" but did not indicate what was there (neither that it was a space or a text of some kind)... This happens, sometimes, when coding isn't done properly. I'd call Paizo and let them know about it so they can put it on the list of things to fix but.. no ones home....
Just to be sure I have it correct... Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

This is Hugh (Feldspar in character);sorry to be a bit late for the party. As is probably true for all of you, it's been a bit of a week.
Two disclosures:
I'm Katrina/Barb's husband; if you see her answering questions for me (or botting me if work falls on my head) that's pretty normal.
We just finished going through most of the early quests (I only did 2-4) but 3 has a boon that promises significance in this scenario, in the vaguest of terms. I look forward to finding out what that means.

FYI: If someone has played Grehunde's Gorget, there is a boon that is applicable. Only one person needs to slot it for the whole party to benefit.

GM Blake |

There's a new link in the campaign header 'Maps & Things.'
Please fill out the exploration mode information.

![]() |

Barb's default exploration mode activity would be to Search or Scout, either of which would use Perception for initiative. I have completed the slide accordingly.

![]() |

My default exploration mode has usually been Scout, as my perception is low, but I could also do Detect Magic if there is another scout.
Filled out presuming DetectMagic primary, actually.

![]() |

Hi - sorry for being so late to the group. this is my first PbP in a few years and the first one i've ever done on the Paizo Boards.

GM Blake |

Note to self: 5/6 mustered. CP 15 if all check in/14 otherwise. 2/6 exploration modes complete.
Note to players: I work in an emergency department. Prior to the pandemic, this would have been a chill period of time. If I disappear for more than a 24 hour period, something bad is happening to someone. If I disappear for more than 5 days, which is shorter than the typical wait period, contact the forum moderators for a replacement GM as that would be extremely aberrant for me.

GM Numbat |

Welcome, Frankie Feldspar. Do let us know if you have any questions.
GM Blake - these must be very stressful times for you. I used to work ER and it was challenging enough without a pandemic to deal with.
From my perspective, there is no rush on the game. I know we need to report it before the official end date of the convention, but even then we can complete it later and modify the reporting if needed.
At worst, I will find a replacement GM or step into that role myself.
Stay safe, and if you need to bow out, we will understand.
@Oddman80 - I noticed that on the signup sheet too.

![]() |

How do I get all that stat info under my name when I post?
Do you have a preference for how I should record my character sheet?

![]() |

Note that I had the opportunity to play a game online two days ago so Carmelizzia leveled up. So she now has the same Perception and Stealth.
Other question, and it was asked before, do you need anything else in our character line, or do you have any preferences for the order?

![]() |

So... once again, new to PFS. Aren't all pathfinders given a wayfinder upon entry to the Society? Should I have one? Or do you have to purchase them based on loot bundles or whatever after a s scenario or two?
If I don't have a wayfinder, can I use the purse to get a compus?
For boon, as its Frankie's first adventure (sounds like a good title) I only have access to Vigilant Seal Faction Champion boon, right?. If so - I slot that.

GM Blake |

Wayfinders can be purchased by anyone, but they're expensive.
A compass is level 0, so you can get a temporary one for this scenario with the purse.
Yes, if this is your first PFS scenario, barring Playtest Point purchased boons I'll assume you don't have, your faction champion boon is all you've got.

![]() |

Most exploration activities means travelling at half travel speed (Defend and Scout do). If we want to have a chance at winning the race, I believe we should avoid doing that. In that case Carmelizzia will not use Avoid Notice.

GM Blake |

The race has it's own mechanics for determining your daily progress, so you don't need to worry about that. However, yes, trying to avoid notice while running a cross country race would probably be counter-productive. :)

![]() |

I’ll try to warn if Carmelizzia goes stealthy, she has the same bonus between stealth and perception anyway.
If the purse given by the VC, she wants to buy those:
- Winterr Clothing (L bulk)
- Four person tent (1 bulk)
- spyglass (that is a level 0 item but costs 20 gp)
- cookware if we need it (it is 2 bulk)
For the boons, aside from Horizon Hunters Champion, I think those might apply:
- Society Connections (downtime)
- Sand Slide [reaction] Uses 3 Trigger You would fail (but don’t critically fail) a Reflex save to avoid a trap’s effects; Effect You Step and then Drop Prone in your new location. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to your triggering Reflex save. If this would have been enough to resist the trap’s effects initially, you succeed at the save instead.
- 3 uses One-Who-Waits (Slotless): Your trials in the burgeoning monastery of Unforgiving Fire have given you an edge in overcoming physical challenges. Whenever you roll a critical failure on an Acrobatics or Athletics check, you can check a box next to this boon as a free action to get a failure instead (the GM can tell you if this wouldn’t change the outcome of the check so you do not waste this ability).

He is a goblin, they are paranoid, lost, cooky and everything else. Some even think they are geniuses. Well, a goblin wouldn't have them all, but have at least one of those qualities or one odd quirk. But as the player plays more SFS, I decided to ask that question and roleplay him.

GM Blake |

Once the race begins, the race part is more free form/follows its own unique rules. I'll explain it when it starts.

![]() |

I already have Cold Weather gear from going through Grehunde's Gorget, but if the Pathfinder Society will spring for it I'd take a spare set along.
I don't see 2-person tents on the shopping list, but if the society can source them I have the carrying capacity for one. If not I'll buy a second four person tent. (Let me know if this comes out of my own funds)
Hopefully "sufficient food" covers my familiar; kittens don't eat much.
Out of my own funds, I'll get three waterskins, one for Tam Sa Gi, and a coil of rope (50'), and a bedroll.
Boons:
Legacy of the Gorget (Grehunde's Gorget)
Envoy's Alliance Champion
One-Who-Waits (slotless?) - I haven't expended *any* of the athletics check rerolls on this, but this seems like a good thing to keep handy when sending a scholar out on a foot race.
School Items:
2 potions of minor healing (3 Scrolls)

GM Blake |

It was asked: you're in the Land of the Linnorm Kings, very far to the north and not that far from the arctic circle.
Amusingly, Iceferry is a town of gnomes outside the Ulfen capitol.

![]() |

Sorry for my late entry into gameplay, I had major computer problems yesterday.
1:Promotional - Volunteer Shirt
2:Sand Slide (Q1)
3:Legacy of the Gorget (Q3)
Faction: Vigilant Seal Champion
Advanced:
Slotless: One-Who-Waits (Q2)
I also have two Hero Points that I may distribute at the beginning of the game. Are any of our players first time PFS2 or PbP?
School items: Minor Healing Potion and Potency Crystal (attached to greataxe).

![]() |

Outpost III is my first time playing Pathfinder Society at all (let alone 2nd edition). I have been playing Pathfinder (and GMing) for the past 6 years. I am currently taking my group through Fall of Plaguestone - but until now have not had an opportunity to play a PC in 2nd Edition.

![]() |

I’ve played Pathfinder Second Edition in various way, around a table, online and on discord. I also ran a couple of games locally.
I’ll just ignore the 200 miles part of the scenario as it seems to be the trouble, and pretend it is a more reasonable number that makes sense as a challenge.

![]() |

Thanks, Barb / Numbat - In the 1-6 scenario I just started on Discord, I had to have my Half-Orc Barbarian burn his hero point on the very first roll of the game, to avoid falling off a cliff to his Insta-death from fall-induced massive damage. So I REALLY appreciate the bonus point!

![]() |

Oh boons
River Kingdoms Excavation: Slowly excavate Ramlock's Tower to gain treasure. May purchase more than once, but cost increases 50% at each purchase. (I still don't know what this does or if DMs are suppose to mark stuff on our chronicle each scenario for this)
He is a field commissioned agent.
