Bless weapon doesn't work on projectile weapons. You can cast it on the ammunition, but the spell only affects 1 piece not 50.

Kramac's align weapon scroll would work as it can cover up to 50 projectiles if it won't work on the bow...is that right?

Daylight

Specifically this line:

Here's a good write-up of the normal interactions. Obviously adventure-specific trumps the general rules.

@GM: I was thinking on trying to spread out to keep us from being clustered together...can we move off the map, say to the south?

Sorry, GM. My bad, I did think the circle was the creature so I fired (I guess Zagan did too)...I went ahead and deleted my post as it wasn't an hour old. I'll wait and see if Kramac's action finds anything...and see what the others are planning...

I wonder if this thing has a light weakness and might be avoiding the light? It gives me the feeling I felt when Sigourney Weaver and her shipmates were searching for the alien in the original Alien movie.

Oh well, think Flyn, Kramac, and Eorsten are in deep kimshi. That creature had three bite attacks last round (think one was an AoO) so it must be hasted as well...

GM: The River is only 5’ deep is that right? Can Kramac and Flyn stand on the bottom instead of swimming? Flyn’s 6’4”.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Unfortunately, the abstraction of space in Pathfinder means medium creatures are swimming in this river.

Then Flyn may be screwed...I’m next to the riverbank, looks like. Can I grab the bank to get out? What are my options for getting out of the river?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Witch's Winter Holiday

A swim check as a move action would let Flyn get out of the river (not a 5-ft step unfortunately). A failed check would mean no movement (and would preclude actions such as Total Defense).

I’d be subject to an AoO then correct? I’d be as good as dead then...might be anyway. Can I combine a swim move with an acrobatic maneuver to try to prevent an AoO?

Scratch that, dumb question, since I’m not moving out of a threatened square, I guess I’m good as far as an AoO goes...

Damn, that creature sure had a taste for Flyn. I gotta get better versed on AoOs; thought since I didn’t move out of threatened range, I was good. Guess I should’ve retreated via my alternate post...but I thought Kramac’s attacks would go off and that we had a shot to kill it...plus if I had, thought Kramac or Eorsten might be killed.

Did Eorsten even attack that round? Isn’t there a chance he could’ve killed it before the river healed it again (thought he had a full attack coming)?

Oh, well, y’all get him guys (and gals). Sorry, in the long run that crit didn’t do much other than get me killed...seems like it healed most of the damage...was hoping it would at least help y’all more than that...

Aid Mission!

At this time, each player can elect to send their Medic character (if any) on the mission. These missions are more dangerous than improving Aid Tokens, but the benefits they provide apply to the whole House. Based on the level of your Aid character, roll the following:
- Level 4 NPC: 2d6
- Level 5-8: 3d6
- Level 9-12: 4d6
- Level 13-16: 5d6
- Level 17-20: 6d6

The results for each Aid Character depend upon the results of their roll.
- 20+: The Aid Character is a triumphant leader, inspiring other Pathfinders with their bravery and skill. They generate 2 successes for the mission. Even if the mission fails, they escape unscathed.
- 11–19: The Aid Character makes a substantial contribution to the mission, generating 1 success. If the mission fails, the Aid Character is injured. The Aid Character can recover from their injuries at the end of the scenario by spending 8 Prestige Points.
- 6–10: The Aid Character is trapped in a perilous situation and needs the assistance of other Pathfinders to escape. The Aid Character does not contribute to the mission’s success. If the mission fails, the Aid Character dies.
- 5 or less: The Aid Character’s luck runs out. Whether from an ambush, a devious trap, or a relentless onslaught of foes, the character meets their end. This Aid Character dies and does not contribute to the mission’s success.

For the Medic mission, we have the following Aid characters available:
- Zaldur
- Kramac's Pregen
- Miki

Naevys is injured and cannot participate in the aid mission.

If you do not wish to roll, please state that here as well. Roleplaying and posting with that character's profile is highly encouraged!

Witch's Winter Holiday

For our own purposes of tracking Aid tokens, I'll be posting any we send here in the Discussion thread and coloring them red on the spreadsheet.

Aid Token

Type: Burst of Healing
Generated By: Naevys Driltormidan
Heroic? Yes
Effect: A young tiefling woman rushes forward, picking off weaker undead creatures with her pistol before an arrow catches her in the shoulder. Grimacing, she throws a bag of healing supplies at the Pathfinders with her other arm before retreating.

--------------------------------------

Aid Token

Type: Spellcasting
Generated By: Favian Aldori
Heroic? No
Effect: A harried man hurries forward, a sword in one hand and magic dancing around the other. He ushers another Pathfinder forward, who blesses a member of the expedition with courage and heroism, before the pair depart.

@GM: A couple of questions. What is the LOS from our current position? Flyn heard the wail and knew it was a banshee...wasn't sure if these cells were completely/mostly barred where we could see through them. Also, you mention the cell door provides improved cover. Can I assume that doesn't mean total cover and therefore Flyn's Improved Precise Shot would overcome that? Thanks.

Grand Lodge

Flyn must have an undead magnet attached somewhere...

GM: Does Flyn have concealment/total concealment as the Banshee has to reach through the wall to attack? While I know it can move through walls, can it see through walls as well? I'm assuming the only slits are in the doors and not the walls. Which leads to my next question: if I move away from current location, does the Banshee get an AoO? I would guess not but want to make sure...

GM: Being the weekend, are we behind in this section or can we give a little more time to everyone to post, especially with all the craziness going on in the world right now? We can't beat this thing with only 4, or even 5, folk being able to take actions each round; both Eorsten and Kramac would've likely made attacks at the Banshee that round. Some of us may have acted differently had we known those two wouldn't act this round.

PCs: We're gonna have to try to draw this thing out in the open otherwise it'll just float through the cells, limiting our attacks, and pick away at us with attacks and AoOs...and if it holds us off long enough to wail again, some of us are likely to die. Any ideas? Also, we might want to consider that using that healing burst the GM mentioned pretty soon; I know Flyn can't afford to take another hit like that (the undead around here seem to have a particular taste for him), maybe not Eorsten either. I do have one more use of Tattoo of the Open Road, but hope I don't have to burn it again...

Witch's Winter Holiday

So, we technically could try to push through one more encounter before the house moves to the next section. I'm fairly confident this group would make short work of the opponents, and more successes here means a better outcome for everyone. However, we're due to move in less than 24 hours and we've been through a lot of encounters already without a chance to rest. So I'm not going to push unless we get some folks letting me know on Discord that they're chomping at the bit for moar undeads to kill.

Witch's Winter Holiday

As we are approaching the end of this scenario, it means it's time to roll for boons!

Witch's Winter Holiday

As this was the final scenario written for Pathfinder Society (First Edition), the scenario offers an option to retire characters (either Aid or Primary) if the player wishes. If that is the case for you, please let me know either by posting here or via PM and we’ll work out a suitably heroic conclusion to your character’s story.

To clarify: there is absolutely no pressure to kill off any of your characters. This is simply an option for a heroic end to a character’s story if that is the player’s wish.

@Eorsten, don’t forget your boon roll!

Witch's Winter Holiday

Excellent work everyone! And with that announcement, we are done! A few housekeeping things as I prepare the Chronicle sheets:

- If you have a reroll you've been saving for a day job, now's the time to use it! Please copy the post from your original day job roll to the new roll's post so I have all the reporting information in one place.
- Make sure that the Aid Character spreadsheet has your Aid characters' numbers along with their names. I cannot fill out your Chronicle sheet without that information.
- Injured Aid characters will need to spend 8 Prestige Points to recover from their wounds. Remember that each player may halve the cost of spellcasting services (gp or PP) once during this scenario. Our injured Aid characters are:
- Naevys (Zagan)
- Philetius (Zagan)
- Calendula (Zagan)

Given the complexity of this sheet, I anticipate getting them posted later today or tomorrow. Thank you all for a wonderful game!

@GM Hawthwile - I had the wrong bonus for Zagan's dayjob roll - should have been +24 instead of +22. Think I was working off an older copy of his sheet. With my reroll, that brings his result to a 30.

My chronicle looks good, GM, thanks.

Lissa gets access to all the missions the house completed successfully. In this case, that would be all five - go us!

Her Aid characters each get access to the boon for the particular aid mission they participated in. So a Spellcaster Aid character only gets access to the Spellcaster boon, etc. You’ll need to print extra copies of the chronicle for the Aid characters’ record, even though the Aid characters don’t gain any xp/gp/pp (only boon).

Does that make sense?

The Concordance

Neutral Good Halfling Kineticist 11 (Sheet) (Equipment) | HP: 157/157 (66 nonlethal) | AC: 35 (18 T, 30 F) | Fortification: 30.% | CMD: 24 | F: 23, R: 19, W: 11 | Init: 5 | Perc: 25 | Speed 30, swim 20 |
Tracked Resources:
Burn 6/12 | Internal Buffer 1/2 | Reroll 0/1

The numbers of the aid characters are not right on mine.

Whoop! Thanks for catching that Flora! I've updated the Chronicle sheet - give it a look here and let me know if I'm still using your characters' levels as their numbers (or if I've invented an entirely new way to be incorrect). XD

Did we miss something to not get access to Whispers of the Pillar?

I could be wrong, Zagan, but I think Whispers of the Pillar goes to the ones who went to stop the actual ritual (aka Champions mode, I believe)…

If I understand it correctly, we followed Shevar Besnik to the Black Caverns to find the relic (Soldier mode) while those in Champion mode, followed Ollysta to disrupt the ritual...
