Muri takes a chunk out of green, even through cover, while Underfoot flinches. Mama D switches to help Elen by tossing a magic missile at the child. SR Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Passed! Major Kort steps up and shoots at green, though his aim fails him and the bolt skitters across the wall. Kamari takes a swing and misses, so green ‘teleports’ behind her - and gets an AoO with his shortsword. Anselm heals himself, though mostly the charge goes to the elemental, which then steps up and crushes poor green who dies on the spot (had 1hp). Elen duels the creepy child, connecting again, and trying to sweep the legs of the creature - but it remains! (Though there are some hairy bits left behind on the tabletop.)

Muri Watches the back, and readies a devastating blow. Mama D just misses (SR 15) penetrating the creature as it does indeed shrug off the spell. Major Kort moves and reloads, preparing for his own confrontation with the little girl. Kamari also moves into position and readies a devastating blow, alas it does not come to pass. Anselm must delay until after Elen who is in the way initially, before tumbling through the porcelain spider and slashing it from behind and nearly taking off one of her arms. Now Anselm closes a bit and summons an elemental where Elen once stood - and it takes advantage of flank to land another telling blow.
And yet she still stands, ”Oh, you’ve brought your friends to play! But we’re not done yet you and I!” She shrieks with delight, steps up on Elen, and tries to end her…

”Playtime’s over!” The girls dress collapses, and the creature disburses into dozens, maybe hundreds, of hand-sized spiders who scatter into the cracks and corners and shadowy places before disappearing.

"There's a hallway with small rooms. I'm clearing them now." He imagines that his voice will carry to someone behind him. Underfoot trails close behind the halfling.

"I'm guessing she's not dead." Kamari voices generally to those with more knowledge of NOT-girls.
Disappointed that Muri's exploration revealed nothing, Kamari moves to the remaining closed door and waits for the others before opening it.

"Oh! Thank you," Elen says, slouching over and panting a little as the Major tends to her wounds. "Thank you, Sir Major K'Aldiran Kort. And I -- you. You're pushing that bow to its limits."
"Thank you Anselm, for the healing and the Earthly assist."
Once healed, she stands fully upright once more. "That thing -- seemed more like one of Madame Lotheed's wind up devices -- did you hear it? 'Would you play with me?', it said. It's as if it drew on something from us! As if it choose to be a child because it knew we can't hurt children -- then tried take our energy when our guard was down. I think that is the one thing for which it existed, deception and murder. It gave no name because it had no name."
"It was just a cesspool of spellbound vermin."
Elen waits for Mama D. and Major Kort to forge ahead as she takes the rear guard.

You open the door to see three stuffed training dummies standing in the southern side of this stone room. Arrows and daggers protrude from two of the dummies, while weapon racks stand neatly along the northern wall. There’s also a halfling practicing his sleight of hand skills with the eastern most statue, which seem rather equipped for such practice.
He looks up at the party around the corner, glances toward the western most door, and rolls onto the balls of his feet, read to run!
In the room beyond (just before the western door) you see beakers and vials covering a table spanning the entire northern end of the room, while four shelves containing alchemical ingredients extend from the southern wall.

Anselm’s elemental lurches forward, and positions himself, untouched by the would-be thief while Anselm protects himself a bit further. Kamari carefully rushes past the halfling to block the door, catching the heady aroma of alchemical experiments from the next room. Mama D blurs Elen’s outline making it harder to hit her. Major Kort further preps Elen for dangerous duty even as he shuffles into position.
The halfling immediately starts shouting, ”Alarm! We’ve got invaders!” But he doesn’t look hopeful, ”Damn thick walls these.” he mutters resignedly as he draws his dagger and defends himself! He draws an AoO from the elemental as he closes with Kamari and stabs at her to try and get her to move.

Kamari winces a bit as the halfling's dagger is thrust into her chest. Fortunately, the mithral shirt holds up against the blade. She responds with a stab of her own as soon as someone is kind enough to provide a flank. Even before she can finish the thought, Anselm's elemental is there to harry the halfling. Unfortunately, Kamari is somehow distracted and fails to take advantage of the situation.

Dropping her torch, grips her glaive and double moves to the front trying to block the more immediate route to the remaining egress while at the same time covering it. "Show us what you have learned!" She demands of the thief. Double move.

Muri moves into position and defends himself. Elen double moves into flanking position. Anselm’s elemental has a great round, pummeling the poor halfling thief twice! Kamari tries to take advantage of flank, but is flustered a moment. Mama D pricks at the halfling further, giving him a welt over his left eye. Major Kort watches the rear, ready to plug anything coming from that direction.
The thief looks desperate ”I may not be able to take one of your lives, but for my failures, I sacrifice myself to Thamir Gixx!” With that proclamation, he slits his own throat! His coup de grace triggers AoOs for many of you, though it’s likely unnecessary.

Muri spies the next door, so far away, so he decides to stop over the dead body first, and find his holy symbol, in order to add it to the other. Proof of the rot in the city. He looks down on the dead halfling, shaking his head. There is no honor in that action. Ugly god.
Muri bids Underfoot stay close, then watches for Kamari to bound to the next door, and find out to whom the halfling assassin called.

"Should we check this door out first?" she asks, indicating the doorway leading north in the corridor that lead them here.
