Malgrim steps closer and sends another bolt arcing into a giant.

Aim for Red first. If he is dead go for White. 5 ft step. Gather Power and send an Extended Range, Adamantine, Composite Mud Blast. If Red is dropped by the Attack of Opportunity, I may not be able to see the white giant so I will make a move action and do an Extended Range, Adamantine Blast instead. I am not sure from the map if my 5 ft step allows me to see the White one. I will put it in a spoiler in case I need to do that.

Since Gnasher is, in fact, using the hybrid approach with temp HP, he is only at -1 and KOed.

Shadow hits red as he moves away but does not bring him down.
Red Fire Giant (-171 HP)

After the pair brings down Gnasher, Shadow focuses on the white feller and hits 3 times.
White Fire Giant (-74 HP)

Malgrim is unable to hit the annoying and increasingly dangerous red giant.

Gnasher, you want Urah to heal you which will cause you to regain consciousness fatigued and prone and, worse, sandwiched between two very nasty hitting giants. Alternatively he can Dimension Door you away from the fight.

Also, you automatically return to your natural size when the rage ends, right? The actual description just says it is like the enlarge person spell which has a duration in minutes, but it is written like it is tied to the rage.

I think bringing Gnasher back to consciousness between the giants would be a mistake, Dimensional door away from them would be ok. Any opinions?

I believe when the rage ends he does return to his regular size.

Wounded by the giants, Gnasher falls unconscious to the ground, shrinking back to his regular size,

stabilize DC 11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

That was my thought too. And since Gnasher has nothing to say about it and Urah is 'the one making the decision' it seem pretty appropriate.

Urah dimension doors Gnasher to his hiding place behind the door.

The giants are a bit bewildered, though they did hear strange words right after Gnasher shrunk and then vanished. Taking things in stride they close in on shadow, working in tandem again to get the edge from a flank.

to hit greatsword, flank: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 23 + 2 = 32
slashing damage: 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 17 = 21
to hit greatsword, flank: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 23 + 2 = 32
slashing damage: 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) + 17 = 20
to hit greatsword, flank: 1d20 + 23 - 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 23 - 5 + 2 = 33
slashing damage: 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (6, 5, 6) + 17 = 34
to hit greatsword, flank: 1d20 + 23 - 10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 23 - 10 + 2 = 25
slashing damage: 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) + 17 = 23

But to no avail as Shadows inconceivably hard hide deflects their attacks.

"Why did you get tossed down here? And where are we?" Malgrim asks the giant.

Resisting the urge to growl when the giant comments about eating them, Gnasher nods at the idea of 'a little good old fashioned revenge.' Gnasher understood the idea of revenge. As Seif-al-Din and Malgrim speak with the giant more, Gnasher begins to look for a way for the tribe to either descend or the giant to be drag to them.

If they drop the giant a rope can they drag him up?

"The guardians did not like that I tried to negotiate with the cult followers. Seemed to me like if we were all stuck in this place together we might as well try to get along. Most of my kind is not about 'getting along' which makes me a bit outspoken. Most of my kind is not about outspoken either. They say I think too much. Probably do. Life would be a lot easier if I thought less. Not too much less, mind you," he adds with a chuckle. "But now I'm pissed. As to where are we, we are in Bayt al-Bazan and, it seems, stuck here."

Surely with enough rope and a judicious use of boxes, you can free the giant. But not until his legs are healed.

Malgrim ties his rope to is grappling hook and sets it. He then climbs down and says, "I am going to try and heal you wounds." He will then approach and see his his kinetic healing works for the giant.

I will take the 1 burn using a point from my Buffer. I am healing HP's so we will see if this works or if we need something more powerful then returning hit points. I heal equal to my normal blast damage.

Damage, B, Water Blast w/Elemental Overflow: 6d6 + 14 + 8 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 5, 1, 6) + 14 + 8 = 46

So I heal the giant for 46 and see how much that does for his legs.

Watching Malgrim prep his rope, Gnasher turns towards Seif-as-Din and shrugs. He nods that way, "Gnasher protect Malgrim." he then follows the hobgoblin down the rope to make sure this friend stays safe. As Malgrim heals the fellow, Gnasher looks about the room.

Is there a separate door, or was the ceiling the only entrance?

If he needs something beyond just hit point healing, I could always try pumping a Heal into the giant.

Seif-al-Din is content to see how Malgrim's rapid energy infusion goes...

Yeah, he is not missing legs so it shouldn't be something crazy like a regenerate. But we will see if the HPs work or if we need a heal or restoration type spell.

Malgrim repairs his legs and he is able to climb up and join you, unless you want to explore his cell first, maybe take a peek out of the arrow slits or something.

Malgrim will take a quick search of the area and look out the arrow slits.

I will just take 10 on Perception for a 33.

Malgrim lingers in the makeshift cell room and when he looks outside he sees burning skies above, below he sees the grounds of the temple that you are in and beyond that a street that is largely deserted.

The giant looks back at Malgrim and says, "Frustrating, isn't it? My name is Gilbans, by the way."

Seif-al-Din bows politely.

"A pleasure to meet you, Gilbans. I am Seif-al-Din, and this is Shadow," he says, pointing to his feline companion.

"Well, little fellow, it was very rewarding to see you. Now, to business." He gives you the layout of half of the third level (D2-D10) of which you have already explored a lot, and the fourth level (E9-E11) which you have not visited yet. You could ask him for more information on any individual room.

Chuckling at the giants 'little fellow' comment, Gnasher nods, forming the words carefully with his muzzle so as to be understood clearly. "I Gnasher." he gestures towards Seif-al-Din and Malgrim, "Tribe sent by Shazathared, looking for artifact. Gilbans find what power this place?"

Just some fluff, maybe we'll get lucky and he'll know something.

"Something about a curse the grand vizier put on this place because someone stole something from him. I've heard everything from the culprit being Al-hassan or his brother Jhavhul some to some guy that was using them. Must have been something important for him to curse like this. Not that it matters to me. Stuck here either way."

"What can you tell us about this cult? Do you think we could actually talk to them and work towards escaping this place once we have what we need?" Malgrim asks.

"Escaping? There is no escape. As for talking with them, they worship Flauros, the Burning Maw, so that could be challenging. They would more likely see you as a sacrifice in one of their rituals. Do you speak draconic or Ingan?"

Urah nods at this.

(AC 26/17/20; HP 113/113; Fort +10, Ref +14, Will +11; Init +9, Perception +0, CMD 16) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 12

"I also can speak Ignan."

Shaking his head 'no' Gnasher spoke no other languages, but he would not be anyone's Sacrifice. Knowing there was strength in numbers, Gnasher asks the Giant, "Gilbans travel with tribe?" He gestures toward the room they'd come, "Plenty of gear available."

(AC 26/17/20; HP 113/113; Fort +10, Ref +14, Will +11; Init +9, Perception +0, CMD 16) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 12

As the move to re-equip Gilbans, Seif-al-Din tries to engage the giant in further conversation.

"Did you grow-up around these parts? What is life here like?"

He does, however, make a mental note about some of the terms being thrown around.

A Grand Vizier's curse over a stolen item is what has things so messed-up around here? I wonder what could have been stolen to torque them off *that* much...

[b]"Well, I was recruited from the material plane when I was young to be a guard here. It was kind of nice, you know? Paid well, had respect, gut then the curse. Everything changed after that. The place has devolved into chaos. Different groups fighting each other fir control over their little corner of hell. Makes no sense to me, but you see where that got me."[/b

Gilbin is able to reequip using gear from the fallen giants in the previous room. Gilbin makes sure each one is dead and carves a G into each one.

The fire giants are part of a group called the Guardians of the eternal Flame. But nowhere in the books does it explain what that title is about, or what they guard. So I'm going to assume they were hired as guards of this place and got caught in the curse.

Sounds like a safe assumption to me.

Giving a wolfish smile as the giant marks the bodies, Gnasher nods towards the double doors at the southern end of the great room. Keeping a keen eye out as he goes, he inspects the odd statue D2 on his way to the door.

If he makes it to the door undisturbed he will carefully inspect the door for traps, then (if clear) attempt to open them.

Taking 10 (25) on perception for the room, statue and doors. if he makes it that far.
