For the rest of the day, different intelligence officers debrief you. Anything you don't tell them?

Other questions you can answer or ignore:
Who has missed you?
Who has grieved you?
Who have you missed?
What do you do when you have some free time?
What questions do you ask and of who?
What's up with Pah's office 'Atlantis Holdings' leaving you 170 voicemails? Any idea?

Who has missed you?
Who has grieved you?
Who have you missed?

It’s obvious that Nissa dearly missed L.C., and desperately wants to know if she had moved on romantically. While this will devastate her, she understands, three years is a long time to carry a torch. And her new body makes a normal relationship impossible. She loves L.C., and part of loving her means putting L.C.’s happiness first.

But another love she hasn’t mentioned aloud is the van Donk family. Before setting off to Tarokh, Nissa will write to Mom and Dad, and her sisters, Bridgette, Hanna and Daphne. She’ll also write to her agent, Bob Goldenrod, and her dear friends, fashionista Addy Lane and male model Flex Luthor. She wants all to know she is alive and well… though also very different. She will put much effort into warning her adoptive parents and her sisters, the biological daughters of the van Donks.

What do you do when you have some free time?
What questions do you ask and of who?

The next two weeks are all about L.C. Nissa isn’t going to grill her. She wants to know everything but won’t have any planned agenda or questions list. The first thing she’ll ask is ‘are you all right?’ And even that will likely follow a heartfelt ‘sorry.’

She will plan a reunion with her family at the end of the two weeks.

What's up with Pah's office 'Atlantis Holdings' leaving you 170 voicemails? Any idea?

While curious, Nissa is treating her love life as priority #1. She’s not thinking too deeply about anything else.

Theo does his best to stay with the Utopians for their debriefing, doing his best to fill in any gaps in their stories. The Olympian is trying to be a calming influence for the new dimensional immigrants. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33 If Theo can seduce some of the immigrants, that's okay by him.

Otherwise, Theo is very upfront about what happened: to him and the team. The godling is willing to demonstrate his new abilities through his Connection Inkling feat, so they can be properly gauged and researched, because Theo is interested what Boston Theoretical thinks of them.

The millions of Theo fanatics across the world. Surely, they must be waiting with bated breath for The Olympian's return. Also, Theo's less-than-exemplary manager. He hasn't been able to generate funds for Theo as far as he can see, since joining Boston Theoretical and later TAROT. Unless his manager made some serious gains in his absence, Theo will no longer require his services.

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

Well, Scarlet and Theo were in the process of getting close before his departure. The godling thought about the telepath from time to time. And the mortal son of Zeus was hoping for some angry sex with Flora, but that ship has likely sailed and crashed on the rocks.

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

Once the media blackout is lifted at Boston Theoretical, Theo would like to take Nissa on a media junket, being interviewed and reintroducing Nissa as his daughter to the world. That should generate some buzz!! Also, Theo wants to spend some quality father-daughter time together. Going out to nice restaurant, and talking about each other's fused families and filling in any details, all in the hopes of becoming closer.

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:
What questions do you ask and of who?

Along with testing his new abilities for Boston Theoretical, the godling wants to talk with R and D about a much needed upgrade to The Olympian's armor. Theo will also ask about The First Responders and what happened to them since Fauna and Flora are no longer involved.

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

Theo is quickly seeing that his best route to superhero revenue is off world, so Theo will whole-heartedly respond to the 'Atlantis Holdings' calling, in the hopes of ultimately making a multi-dimensional licensing agreement for Olympian merchandise and media.

Not sure if it'll apply to Legato considering the hours it takes to fly~

The orphanage misses the money he sends back monthly.

Its only been a week or two for his perspective, so no one but his favorite movie night drive through food clerk.
What do you do when you have some free time?
He'll have to look up, find and inform the family he was hired by previously. Albiet after 3 years they likely though he died investigating. He will be honest with them on the likely fate
What questions do you ask and of who?
Mainly work job questions sort of deals

I can't imagine this one applies to legato~

Zellgato likely is trying to sell his specialty coffee across worlds though. Its a mix of light roasted coffee, mushrooms, and a pinch of salt.

Legato or Henri on the Time Ship:
At some point during the time you spent on the time ship, you come across a photo of a very punk 15-year-old Helios and 4 other teenagers that look lot like Theo on stage together in what looks like a 20th century punk band. The bass drum has 'The Divine Bastards' painted on it. If Helios sees you looking at it, he mumbles something about going through a phase and Ji-Hashar jokes the band should have been called 'Daddy Issues.' Neither will discuss it more than that.

The time ship make its way to Boston under military escort.

When Legato and Henri fly over Boston Theoretical, they see that it has changed. Connecting skyways link it to neighbouring buildings which didn't used to belong to BT before. It appears to have grown to 10 times the size it once was.

Those of you who were already on what everyone at BT is now calling 'the Campus' have seen it for yourself. When it's time to rest, you may find your cell kept just as it was, but someone will likely explain that the nearby hotel has been purchased and converted to employee residences and you'll be able to go there tomorrow, after a day of quarantine.

We'll wait for Charles debrief before doing more. I want to get a sense of where each of your priorities are through the debrief.

Unity describe the facts of their experiences briefly, not leaving out any major events but not going into great detail unless they're specifically asked to. They only leave out the fact that the Atlantean ship is a timeship with what is apparently a team of their descendants--they figure they'll discover that soon enough anyway.

Who has missed you?
Unity don't think anyone would have missed them. After all, they don't exactly have a family, and since getting free of PhDestruction they'd mostly been at Boston Theoretical. They're slightly surprised to find a couple of the scientists and therapists they'd worked with before actually expressing happiness that they've returned.

...and as soon as word gets out that they've returned, they're much more surprised by how much fan mail they get.

What do you do when you have some free time?
Unity want to know what's become of Greer's farm. They need to get out of built-up areas for a bit. Even the farm seems a bit too... tame to them, now. Perhaps a nature preserve, if they can get into one.

What questions do you ask and of who?
Unity learn all they can about PhDestruction's activities while they've been gone. They also try to spend some time with Phade--going from Ignored to Director seems like quite a jump, and they're curious how it happened and how she's handling it. They're also somewhat nervous about what kinds of government pressures have been applied to Boston Theoretical since they've been gone, and try to learn about that.

What's up with Pah's office 'Atlantis Holdings' leaving you 170 voicemails? Any idea?
Unity have no idea, but they start sifting through them somewhat bemusedly, not quite knowing what to make of the requests for usage of their likeness and questions about their adventures.

Okay, those who didn't already spend their wealth on some kind of upgrades when leveling up to 7, look to 'spend' 1000 credits on gear. You can also trade in older gear for new gear. All of this gear will be, officially, provided by Boston Theoretical, drawing upon Atlantean (re: stolen) technology.

The first that day you are allowed out of quarantine, you receive two invitations.

The first is from Pah asking to meet you at Boston Harbour at 15 minutes before sunset. The invitation was handwritten. "Mr. Pah used a 'pen' himself," explained the Atlantean servant who delivered it.

The second is from the New Utopians asking you to meet them in Boston Harbour for dinner. They plan on leaving now that the quarantine is lifted and get back to their own timeline.

Phade reassures Nissa that L.C. will be coming as soon as possible. She doesn't want to say, but from what she doesn't say Nissa picks up the following, (1) L.C. spent a lot of time with the Marshal on World 1 (Tarokh) trying to find you and to get permission to use TAROT resources to do it; (2) the Marshal died recently and L.C. stepped up; (3) this Acting Directory thing is super temporary and she doesn't want to do it anymore but she's also worried about who would replace L.C..

Nissa's biological family would probably want to come to Boston, no?

The Boston Theoretical staff is pretty fascinated by the nanites as well. They seem designed for the sole purpose of creating a communicative interface but without the other end of that interface, they're pretty inert. Henri knows that it allowed him to communicate with buildings. They suggest that whoever designed these might have also used them to communicate with ships or other entities large enough to hold whatever kind of AI they interacted with. They want to replicate them as, with enough of them, telepathy could become standard equipment.

If Henri wants to have certain equipment that he can communicate with through the nanites, that could be something Boston Theoretical could work on.

Legato has so many unpaid parking tickets, unresolved legal issues, and outstanding 'code of conduct violations' from the certification bureau for private detectives, that he needs to spend hours with the Boston Theoretical lawyers. It seems Legato's AI secretary continued to bill clients and submit fictitious expense reports in his absence, among other things.

The good news is, the AI secretary solved the case. The problem was caused by the detective novel that the AI wrote based on the case. The AI did a s!$&ty job of hiding the barely fictionalized identities and all the money it made Legato got eaten up in lawsuits and parking tickets. If he hadn't been declared dead at some point, he'd be broke beyond redemption.

Really, he's better off staying dead. Or wearing a mask.

The New Utopians invited you to a private party but Tasha Gentry Incorporated has, somehow, already heard about it and BT security says that her drones are searching everywhere for you looking to capture video of the heroes returned after years away. Phade lets you know about the drones and suggests it wouldn't be the worst thing if you were seen to be alive.

Do you let yourself get seen?

Using the resources of Boston Theoretical, Theo is able to rent a tuxedo, that fits surprisingly good, while R&D create his new armor.

With a fresh shaven face and new haircut, Theo Nephus is looking particularly sharp dressed.

Nissa writes to Tasha.

Nissa: Hi, Tasha!
Nissa: The team and I had a gating mishap. We thought we would arrive here in July 2219.
Nissa: We’re alive and well, though some of us have changed… me, most notably.
Nissa: We’ll have dinner together soon.

She sends Tasha an address.

Nissa: I’ve gotta catch up with loved ones, but if you want an interview, you got it!
Nissa: P.S.~ belated congrats on Tasha Gentry Industries!

Unity shares Phade's concerns about who else might take the director slot. "How bad has the, um, government pressure been lately?" they ask her.

They accept both invitations for the evening, from both the New Utopians and Pah (assuming dinner is far enough from sunset to make it). They figure they can talk with Pah in-person about all the messages. Given their unique appearance, they figure there's no reason to make any effort to not be noticed. They wear one of their handful of 'everyday wear' outfits that's been modified for their... unique anatomy.

When you take to the air and fly towards the harbour, you see for the first time how much Boston Theoretical has grown. 'The Campus' is ten times the size it was three years ago. Atlantean technology brought back by Kai from their sabbatical has led to exciting new developments.

The Atlantean Time Ship, the Poseidon, sitting in the harbour has attracted a lot of attention. Dozens of drones are flying just outside a required privacy perimeter. One of Tasha Gentry's drones hovers over the dock next to Poseidon. Apparently, she has permission.

The drone films silently as the team approaches.

When you start to pass, Tasha's talking head projects beneath it. She looks like she's struggling to believe what she's seeing. "So, you're back?" she finally asks.

Nissa flutters closer to the drone (though without leaving the time ship) so Tasha can get a better look at her.

“Yes. Sadly, we were only off-world for three days… but we gated back three years late, accidentally, after taking some very strange wrong turns. We’ll need to get used to the changes in our world that can’t” shouldn’t “be undone.” No matter how tempting it is to wave my wand and make the turmoil in my love life just disappear.

She smiles at Tasha.

“We’re glad to be back, though!” She says, “How about you and I set up a face-to-face? And you let me know whether you prefer a one-on-one, or include anyone on the team who’s interested in the publicity.

“I’m talking about an exclusive of course, and you being the first to get the story on why I’m appearing in this form.” Tasha’s surely seen Nissa in her fairy form before, so it might not be completely obvious that this is her ONLY form now.

Hopefully the social cue is obvious. Nissa is giving Tasha a gift, but it isn’t free. If she has to spell it out, the price is having dinner in peace. (Talking during this flight is not a problem, and the drone taking pictures of the team dining is also fine. Interrupting dinner would be the dealbreaker.)

What kind of skill check do you want to make for Z's roll in setting up a business? Charisma based for selling the idea? Wisdom based for having a good one?

The New Utopians are on the deck of the Poseidon.

A meal has been prepared. By its extravagance it seems unlikely that any of them prepared it, unless it was Darkstar. Among them, only Darkstar would have a meal so precisely prepared. Maybe they ordered catering. The meal has each of your favourites. It's like they knew you.

They're dressed like teenagers from Boston. Some of their fashions may be a couple years ahead of time, but they would fit in. When they speak English, it's clear that they have fit in.

The Pilot speaks. They're wearing a one-piece dress. Henri and Legato will have seen them in more masculine Earth garb during the past week. "Look, Darkstar is nervous about this changing our future together somehow and all of that, but, we wanted to do this together. Is it okay if you tell us everything and we don't tell you anything ... nothing you could end up accidentally sharing with our younger selves, changing destiny and f@&%ing up the continuity and ..."

Darkstar interjects, "And triggering a sequence of events that results in the return of the Genetic Authority, prompting my Father to ..."

"...destroy us aallll!" drone the other teens laughing.

"There is nothing funny about the Genetic Authority," scowls Darkstar.

They gesture for you to sit. Your chairs are nearest the dishes containing your favourite meals.

Clicking video links during dinner?!:

It's clearly AI generated as it only took a minute or two to be on your feed. You might not recognize the cultural reference but Nissa's fans are into a weird sliver of culture that she keeps referencing, so they are clicking on it and sending it trending. Some likely AI generated voice sings ...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from their Boston base
Aboard their tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty demigod,
The skipper a burning flame.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three day long tour, a three day long tour.

The weather started getting weird,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of their tiny pilot
TAROT would be lost, TAROT would be lost.

...

"Hey, what did you always tell us about no devices during dinner? I thought we had a family rule!" says Ji-Hashar.

Nissa, being mere inches tall, has an obvious place food or no food. She sits near her daughter.

“Okay, so while you can’t tell me even if you do know… I don’t actually know my biological parents. But let me tell you about the van Donks…”

She tells of her mother being pregnant for the first time. Nissa was still a child. She didn’t know she was adopted. “And I never grew past two-foot-three, so it didn’t seem off when I saw Bridgette, who wasn’t much smaller than me. But she kept growing. She’s 14 now and six feet tall. Hanna and Daphne are tall for their age too. And blonde. We pass for sisters.

“I mean… we did until I changed.” She turns to Darkstar and smiles. “I’m glad I changed. Whatever this trip did to my body and my life, you’re beautiful, Darkstar. And I’m happy to call you ‘brother,’ Helios.” She looks over the teen heroes. “I’m glad you came to us in the Time Ship. It’s comforting to know you exist, and the completely unfunny Genetic Authority does not. We truly made a difference on your world.

“And since you can’t correct me without affecting the timeline, I get to go on believing this!”

Nissa doesn’t have a device, nor would she take it out at the dinner table. So I won’t peek at the tempting spoilers!

Wisdom preferably. Zellgato would've done basic google market research on competitors, what their prices are, what specialty coffee goes. As well as the amount he realistically could produce for testing; and then a specialty operation could realistically sustain.

Zellgato is not at that dinner so he would likely see those haha

Unity change to their bipedal form for dinner--which they see was anticipated. Just how much time *did* they spend with this 'descendant' group? Given they're not literally their children, it seems surprising, but...

"Well, we'd point out that we're *always* changing our future," Unity state aloud, "So we're not particularly concerned about altering it. So... what would you want to know? Or should we just start talking about whatever comes to mind?"

"Or perhaps you could theorize on why we arrived so much later than anticipated?"

A Physical Science check could represent Zellgato's formulation of the recipe. It's a pretty high skill for you.

At some point in the not too distant past in the expanded 'campus' area of Boston Theoretical:
Zellgato walking past a classroom hears, "...which brings us back to the problem of Zellgato." A young professor struggles to explain the challenges our new transdimensional reality poses for physics.

Seeing Zellgato has paused, the professor walks over and closes the door. The look he gives Zellgato when he says, "Excuse me, sir." makes it clear he doesn't know who he is talking to.

He goes back to trying to explain why there are so many Zellgatos and only one Theo. He can't. No one can.

The academic world is split into two main camps: (1) Zellgatos are inevitable and (2) Zellgatos are necessary. They're looking for a third explanation.

This is my new favorite thing.

Zellgato's curiosity, and new casual hobby:

On occasion Zellgato will use holodisguises, makeup and enroll in courses purely to show up only on theoretical Zellgato days.

On occasion he'll offer opinions--often random ideas such as
"Zellgato as a spoken word is comprised of the specific number of phonic sounds that it is naturally generated in most languages, therefor its just pure chance that there are so many Zellgatos. The costume the mask, thats just fanfare by corperate PR. Its just a bunch of paid dudes visiting on a paid holiday."

or
"Its not many Zellgato, its one Zellgato entity that drives puppet forms to experience the many reality, they core collective must exist in a sub atomic form. Thats how he joined Boston Theoritical. Nissa-ran into the original and drew its attention. It continually sends versions in order to experience new versions. Thats clearly where the team disappeared to. The collective must have collected them for some purpose!"

often with a different guise, pseudnum and the like.
Occasionally he brings donuts, or a large caraffee of coffee to share.
He has of course, scanned most if not all the students over time.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A worthy hobby for Zellgato. He, personally, gives rise to three other competing theories (3) Zellgatos are an accident; (4) There are no Zellgatos only Zellgato; (5) Zellgatos are a joke.

The boy looks emotional and nervous. Only 17, but with a face that's so masculine he'd pass as 20, the boy glances at Darkstar who seems ready to interject but nods a little, "Let's say, dad, that, you know, you had a chance to say things to me that you never said and, you know, maybe won't get the chance again ... I don't know what I want to hear ... I'm not sure if there's anything I need ... but, what would you say to me if this was, from my perspective, going to be the last time we ever talked."

The whole team is quiet. Some have tears in their eyes (DC 15 Sense Motive to notice).

Darkstar looks like Helios might have said too much, but a dark tear falls onto the deck of the time ship.

A message from Pah says his surprise will be arriving in 60 minutes and he hopes you're ready. He invites you to visit his ship to watch 'the arrival'.

Kevin, telepathically, messages Theo, "Maybe just tell him what you wish your dad had said to you." He shrugs all of his shoulders and gives Theo a sympathetic smile.
